First, its located off Columbus Ave steps from the corner of a quaint and quiet residential W 82nd St. There are 4 large steps out front, so be mindful if you or a member of your party has mobility issues. The steps feel a bit taller than traditional height but these buildings are over 100 years old so just be mindful when walking. They are navigatable with a cane and someone to assist, as we did for a member of our party. The interior of this location is beautiful. There is a bar area at the front and large hibachi seating just beyond to accommodate large groups. The staff are friendly, professional and personable, with our chef providing his spin on the usual hibachi chef performances. Aside from the standard onion volcano, sake spray, food toss and egg catch trick, our chef did a few gags I'd never seen performed at any hibachi place we've visited. The food was good and the service was great. The lobster tail and scallops I ordered were delicious. The surprise ringing of the gong and ice cream with sparklers was a nice surprise for the birthday girl! This is our 2nd visit to this location and we will be back

The chefs were so funny and entertaining - they seem to love their job which made it so enjoyable! They also had a fun birthday celebration for one of the people in our party, complete with a gong, sparklers, and ice cream. We only got hibachi, which came with vegetables, protein, and an appetizer. I was disappointed that it did not come with noodles or fried rice like some other spots include, you needed to pay $6 extra which was steep for the amount of rice you got. The noodle portion, however, was very generous. The appetizers were also quite small, with options for salad, soup, tofu, and/or two potstickers. Food overall was well seasoned. I would return if in the area.

My husband and I came here on an evening not as cold as tonight's forecast but chilly nonetheless, and Meijin really hit the spot. To start off, we ordered the fried chicken. It was wonderfully crunchy on the outside, succulent on the inside. I was pleased to see that they used thigh meat - the best cut. The chicken came with a side of spicy mayo and this spice blend that added a nice umami mushroom flavor to each bite. For my main dish, I ordered the Okinawa ramen, a type of creamy broth topped with slivers of pork. It was wonderful. Rich. Cozy. Everything I craved on a cold night. The ramen noodles had the perfect chew, an indication that they were made fresh. This week, as temperatures reach its lowest of the season, step into Meijin for a bowl of hot soup.

It was decent but lacked a bit of flavor. The chicken was decent but it was just chicken, nothing crazy done to it. My wife's vegetarian ramen, on the other hand, was really good! It was super flavorful, looked very appetizing and is something I would get again. Overall, it's a decent looking spot and glad I finally came in. But I'll be getting a different ramen next time

Katsu-Hama is about two doors to the Left of Phil's, and has minimal, very discreet signage. I got some tonkatsu...I forget the exact type, but it was essentially the most fatty of the tonkatsu offered. It came with cabbage (with a sesame ginger type dressing), daikon radish (with some type of sauce on top), and the standard sauce for the tonkatsu, along with some crushed sesame seed and hot mustard. I'd have to say...the tonkatsu was quite good....not quite as sublime as my favorite tonkatsu place in Tokyo...but still, very, very good. The dish also came with a bowl of miso soup (good, and not overly salty) and a bowl of white rice, which I considered the most disappointing part of the meal. The rice seemed a bit dried out...not moist.... All in all, an excellent meal. I'd definitely come back.

The food was ok, felt comparable to something you would order at a food court, so at the price point, it's not that worth it. The main was so unremarkable that the best thing was the miso soup. In terms of flavor, it's very much like "that's it??", pretty basic but wouldn't standout as good.
