Saw the all you can eat sign outside of the store, and thought $38 was a bit much for how it looked, but I was wrong. This place was awesome. The menu for AYCE was huge, 150 items, I think, and included everything you could want, from sushi to Takoyaki. There was sashimi, noodles, soup, deserts, and wagyu on rice. It was all really good, and the servers brought the food very quickly. Definitely an awesome AYCE, check it out! read more

More like a 3.5 if I'm being honest. Some dishes hit. The sushi donut was a surprising win. Seaweed salad was good! Onigiri was very good. Yellowtail carpaccio was also good but it was swimming in sauce. The rolls were a little disappointing. The dishes came out quickly. The staff was nice and left old friends to catch up with one another. I loved the decor with the upside down Japanese umbrella. The bathroom didn't have any soap in it which made me sad. read more

My daughter brought me here for a Mom/Daughter dinner. We went with the AYCE option. Food was tasty. There wasn't anything I didn't like. Their spicy Kani salad was solid. The rolls were good. Exactly what you'd expect from an AYCE place. Their glutinous rice cake for dessert is fabulous. That brown sugar mollasses-y type flavor is delicious and satisfies the sweet tooth. Service was on point. Everything came quick without any hiccups. If you're expecting excellence all around, I don't think you'll find the experience at Tokya Ya to your standards. Again. Tasty but not the $100+ style restaurant by any means. As I said previously, it's what you can expect from an AYCE type spot. The bathroom wasn't horrendous but wasn't sparkling clean either and both times I've been they either didn't have paper towels to dry your hands with or toilet paper, which irked me. Aside from that, give it a try, skip the bathroom. read more

So I heard that there was an all you can eat sushi that included all the rolls and even desserts and it was located in ASTORIA!! I knew I had to try it, we went for my brothers birthday and stuffed ourselves with sushi, their rolls were good between flavourful and delicious The space was clean and open, the service was fast and the servers were always helping us with our orders! They have an online system where we ordered our rolls on our phones and that would get to the kitchen so it was very cool! read more

By far best AYCE in all of Queens. Price is similar to all others at Max weekend price of $34.99 per person however you're not limited to just sushi but instead sashimi in all cuts. Also included are all the kitchen appetizers, noodles, fried rice, niche items, and dessert. Restaurant is not too big and it does get crowded during peak hours but that's also a sign of great food and great service. Bit out-of-the-way in Astoria but well worth the trip if you're into sushi. read more

I am a sushi lover. It is my absolute favorite food while I will not say this place is the best as far as flavor or quality all around it is by far the best all-you-can-eat deal that I can find with decent quality fish. You simply cannot find a place that is under $30 anymore with all you can eat lunch. I went on the weekend which is dinner only and cost 38 per person. The service was good because they cleared our dishes right away, but I was a little bit confused in the beginning because no one explained how to use the menu and ordering system. I tried salmon, white tuna, red clam king Salmon octopus, as well as their special roll bumblebee. The special roll was good but very heavy and filling. Out of all the fish I liked the salmon the most the cuts of sashimi were very thick and large, and the flavor was fresh and creamy which overall made the entire meal worth it for me. I would not recommend the octopus or other fish, but I did like the clam and ordered it a few times I would've liked to try the other special rolls, but just felt they would've been too filling for me. If you leave a review, they give you a free Thai tea. I was surprised because it was massive when I received it, but I can tell they use powder and I did not particularly like the taste. One thing that I did like with this place compare compared to Akino is that desserts are included in the all you can eat menu. Their desserts included orange slices two different types of cake, three flavors of ice cream and one or two other Chinese desserts. Overall, I would come back again because of the value for your money, but if you're craving a really great sushi experience, there are definitely other better options around. For variety and overall quality Akino wins, but Tokyo ya wins for value (bang for your buck) read more

Food 7/10 The AYCE (~$35) vibe really is great if you're carbo-loading before a marathon, and that's exactly what my boyfriend and I came here for him to do. Endless sushi heaven. The server questioned if we really wanted to get this much because we had to pay extra for what we didn't finish, and I enthusiastically said yes to their skeptical facial expressions. It was quite funny. My boyfriend did indeed finish everything. I thought their salmon was quite high quality, but otherwise, all the other seafood was just fine. For the price and the AYCE aspect though, I would say this place is quite an experience. They had fun donut sushi, plenty of options for appetizers, and a good selection of fish. You can pick either sashimi slices or nigiri, and it really just doesn't stop coming. Atmosphere 7/10 Cute spot with Japanese decor, plenty of seating, and we walked right in without a wait. Service 9/10 They were very attentive and friendly, kept on refilling our waters, which was a plus. Appreciate the service! read more

I would rate 6 stars if I could! This checks off everything I want in an AYCE sushi experience and more. I am so impressed by the rice to filling ratio. It literally is one grain of rice between the filing and wrapper. The ratio is still insane even on rolls where fish is on top. In all my years of eating sashimi, I've never eaten cuts this thick either. And the quality is amazing. Deep variety of food on the AYCE menu too: noodles, rice, desserts, all at no additional cost. When I visited, the restaurant played a K-pop loop on their TV, so I was having a blast and a half. read more

My two favorite things about this place: 1) the Uber Eats take-out deals!!! 2) the all-you-can-eat deal!!! My new go-to spot for sushi in Astoria! The sushi is always fresh and presented well. Oh no... I hyped this place up to my boyfriend and we came back here with my dad (who I originally tried this spot with) - the whole place / menu ordering changed. I guess there was a tiktok going around that might have blown up and ruined it for all of us No more reservations, ordering online through a QR code, the waitress asked if we wanted water, ran away and never came back. Half the food we ordered didn't come out, wait times were insane & the food we did get was tasteless. I'm so disappointed at the changes, we asked the waitress and she said that "dinner is busy, come back on a weekday when no one is here" guess we got lucky to try it before the downfall! read more

I went in there to try their all you can eat sushi and I left with discomfort, food poisoning, and overall not a great time. The rice was too sweet since Japanese sushi rice has a slight sweetness but this was way too much. The fish had an odd aftertaste which worried me and could explain the over sweetness on the rice. And I felt like I was eating more rice than fish because the rice was so compacted that I kept chewing on rice. Also there were flies and insect flying near our table which I had to keep an eye to swat away from the food. I made the error of over ordering thinking it was one batch that wasn't good but each time we ordered it went from bad to worse. The server explaining how to order from their menu/QR code through an app on our phones was very confusing. I would have just filled out a paper about how many pieces we wanted and if we wish to continue to fill out a new paper. I've tried all you can eat sushi and various price points/value in sushi and this one unfortunately was just awful. I don't recommend this location for their all you can eat sushi read more

Revisited this page and looks like the rating went from a 4.7 to a 3.4, largely due to their terrible service. It's true -- service is terrible! My sister mentioned afterwards that she overheard them saying "just don't give it to them" in Fuzhounese shortly after getting our checked menu. The order did go through but it sounds like they purposely skipped our items. Updating my review to 2 stars. read more

There is paid and residential street parking. I did not have trouble finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon. Inside is colorfully decorated with lots of tables spaced out, as well as counter seating. It was basically empty when I first came in, but got crowded by the time I left. I came for the AYCE. You marked down what you want on a sheet of paper. Service was attentive and friendly. They came by to clear plates and refill waters, and I didn't have to try to catch their attention whenever I needed something. What I got: - Kani Salad: had avocado on top! Lightly dressed. - Salmon Dragon Ball: the furikake adds a nice texture and flavor - Yellowtail Carpaccio: the yellowtail was well balanced with the spice from the jalapeno and the citrusy yuzu sauce - Tako Wasabi: fresh with a good amount of wasabi (not sinus clearing but can feel the kick). Small portion, which I appreciate, because you can always order more - Ika Geso Karaage: similarly small portion. Was hot and fresh out the fryer, and nicely salted. - Spicy Salmon Roll: not too spicy. The rice was on the sweet side, which overpowered any spiciness the roll had. - Variety of Sashimi and Sushi: similarly, the rice was on the sweet side. Some were less sweet than others though, so a bit inconsistent depending on the batch. I definitely preferred the sashimi because of the rice. The quality is decent. Note: Ikura was infused with yuzu. My favorite was the Red Clam: not too chewy with a good bite. I love the brininess of it. - Ice Cream: - Hojicha: has a decent hojicha flavor - Yuzu: actually a sorbet, so a good option for my lactose intolerance. Lovely yuzu flavor. For $30 on the weekend ($20 for weekday lunch), it's a good deal. The quality isn't the greatest, but if you're looking for an AYCE, then this place will do. read more

For $30 dinner, the AYCE deal is pretty worth it. Not sure if they'll keep it at this rate but I think it's worth it to try it now. The pieces were cut nicely and they maintained the same size throughout our meal. I know some AYCE places tend to skimp out or make the pieces smaller when you order more. I also liked how they had ebi (both cooked and raw) as AYCE options. I could def get my moneys worth of sweet shrimp. On the other hand, their tuna sashimi was very dry and not the best. A friend already warned us about the tuna, but I was hoping it was just an off day. Their AYCE sheet is pretty organized and they categorize everything between cooked and raw options. Their appetizers and "from the kitchen" items were all pretty standard to most sushi places. I really enjoyed their dessert options! The yuzu and hojicha ice cream were both very refreshing and delicious. Staff was nice and very attentive. Kept refilling our water almost instantly. I'd keep coming for AYCE at these rates. My family and I have been longtime fans of Akino over in Elmhurst but we decided to give Tokyo Ya a try after I heard about their incredible lunch/dinner deals ($20/30 respectively) on TikTok. Just a note, on our most recent visit last Friday, we were notified that it was the last day for the deal and that prices would be raised an additional $5 (which still makes the meal relatively affordable for an AYCE sushi joint). With the new price change, they also added some new things to the menu including sushi donuts, onigiris, and new rolls. The space is small, but the turnover is high, which means the fish is always fresh. I really liked that you order through a QR code-- it streamlines the process and we were able to get our food within 10-15 min of ordering during prime dining hours on a busy Friday night. I really enjoyed the raw ebi, which was incredibly sweet and not something you find often on the menus. I will note, however, that we ordered white tuna sashimi and was given something I'm assuming was seared albacore instead of escolar, which I was expecting due to pictures on the menu. As for rolls, I enjoyed the volcano roll and the Tokyo Ya roll the best. I did find that the rice was a little hard, but was otherwise pleasantly surprised with the quality. The volcano roll had a crispy shrimp tempura filling and was topped with soft spicy tuna. The Tokyo Ya roll had a sweet mango and eel sauce that cut through the richness of the avocado and rice. read more

I recently visited Tokyo Ya and was quite disappointed with my experience. The restaurant advertised AYCE sashimi, which was the main reason I decided to dine there. I only found out during my meal that this wasn't true... While the service started off well, with food coming out quickly, it significantly slowed down after about 20 minutes. We waited for over 20 minutes for the next round of food, only to be informed that we could no longer order sashimi as we had reached their limit. This was never mentioned to us beforehand and also no where on the menu does it say anything about a limit. Food was also very mid. Wouldn't come back here again. Although the price point is attractive, I felt that my money would be better spent at Akino, which offers a wider variety of options and is actually unlimited sashimi. read more

I came by at 2:30 on a wednesday and there was a 5 min wait and place was packed until 4:30 which was closing time. First impressions weren't great as the AUCE menu seemed a lot more limited than it used to be a few weeks ago before the spot blew up. Additionally, there were only 2 waitresses and they seemed terribly overwhelmed for the number of customers they were seeving. However, when the sushi came I was honestly surprised that the quality of fish was decent and I was very happy with the salmon sashimi. I wasn't very impressed by the shrimp tempura, takoyaki or other kitchen items but thats not what I come to AYCE sushi for. Unfortunately, after our first order it took very long to get our second order taken as well as for it to come. I think this place would be great if it weren't so busy and understaffed, but I can't complain too much considering I had AYCE sushi for $20. read more

Went there at noon on the weekday (Wednesday) to take advantage of $20 AYCE lunch. It was jam packed. By 12:30, all the tables were seated. As previous reviewer had mentioned, order quickly as it can be chaotic later on. Service: I found it to be better than expected. I told them of my missing order, and they were attentive. Food: not too fresh. Shumai was the worst. It tasted mushy, and sour. I had to spit it out. The fried squid was hard rock. Sushi is not the highest quality. My wife normally love the salmon, and she only ate 3 pieces. I had to finish the rest. Avocado also doesn't taste too good. Lastly, special sushi roll and udon are not available during lunch. I ordered them, and the waitress kindly told me they aren't available. Overall, you get what you pay for. If you have craving for variety of japanese food and don't want to spend, then go to this place. You can't beat $20 AYCE. Otherwise, might look elsewhere. read more

Would have given this place a 5 star but it lacks one due to the way the sashimi was cut. They were so thin compared to other pictures I've seen. The sashimi tasted fresh and clean. Ordered 3 rolls: Tokyo Ya, Spider and Tiger Roll. All of there were good, the rice was the right amount portion wise. Not too much rice that you're filling up on that. Sauces on top were great too. this spot has a good price for their AYCE and I will definitely be back to try out other rolls and hopefully I get thicker cuts of sashimi. read more

Went for AYCE. It was okay, nothing special. Happy this place is in Astoria so it is nice to have an AYCE sushi option here. Service was good, got a table immediately. The crab roll(imitation crab on rice) was very dry (like you could taste the crunch at the ends of the crab) but other than that, I enjoyed the special rolls. For dessert, the ice cream options were just in these carton containers and no green tea or red bean flavors. Wish they had better dessert options at least for ice cream. Overall it was acceptable but not mind blowing. $35 for AYCE for dinner. read more

Been here 3 times. For ayce and regular dinner. I was hoping that it was just a bad day the first time, but it's been consistently subpar. Their tofu teriyaki comes on a bed of onions, it looks like something Shrek would make honestly. The taste is bland yet overpowered by onions. Their fried rice tastes bland. Sushi looks poorly made and fish is not fresh. We tried salmon and tuna and veggie rolls. Spring rolls taste like used oil. Even edamame was overcooked. Plus the staff do not pay attention to customers, wont refill water or soy sauce even when we ask nicely. Also not a fan of the takeout menus. Also only one bathroom so there is always a line. I'm not even sure why this place is receiving such poor review because quite honestly I had a great time dining here. Their food is priced fairly and their selection is abundance and quality is decent. Came here on a weekend so keep in mind it's dinner price but that's okay because most AYCE places follow this rule anyway and beside, I get more selections anyway since I'm ordering from the dinner menu. We didn't have a reservation but since the restaurant was not filled, they seated us immediately and did warn us that the time is limited to 1.5 hours. Cool. I ordered a good amount of sashimi and other yummy items and I have to say what still stood out to me are their fried shumai. OMGGGGGG.....just thinking about it is still making me salivate. They were like big plump yummy ball of bouncy shrimpy goodness. As for service, it was wonderful. Our server was friendly and always smiled which made us smile too. Overall I like this place and I plan on going back. Also don't forget the ice cream. We did and our awesome server reminded us. Kudo to customer service. read more

3.5 Stars The price is great for an AYCE sushi restaurant but service was just okay. I came with some friends after seeing a video on social media about it. I've actually been here before when it was a regular sushi restaurant but I guess they rebranded and changed to an AYCE. When we got here, we put our name and phone number down. We were told that the wait would be an hour but we were actually seated within ~15 minutes. It's fairly tight inside so it's definitely not great for larger groups (I'd recommend to stay within a group of 4 or less). Although the price was great, the service wasn't the best but I can tell it was cause they were just so busy trying to attend to everyone's orders. We put in our first order and it definitely took a while for things to come out. After seeings how slow it took for our food to come, we decided to put in our second sheet. They definitely didn't give us some of the things we ordered and the quantity for the sashimi that we put in were definitely off. We'd put in like 15 pieces and get 5. There were about 3 waitresses serving everyone but it was pretty hard to track one down since they were constantly running around. When we were putting in our third order, the waitress said it would be our last one so we asked her to make sure that the quantity would be accurate since it wasn't accurate with the first 2 orders and we were still missing items. She told the sushi chefs and although our quantity was accurate for the third round, the sashimi slices were definitely thinner. By that point, we were already stuffed so we didn't even care that they still didn't bring all the other missed items from our order. Although the service wasn't the best, the appetizers, cooked foods, and sushi were not bad. I usually don't have high expectations for AYCE sushi quality but it was decently fresh. They also had ebi (raw sweet shrimp) and although it was very small, it still isn't something I've seen on other AYCE sushi menus before so that was a pro to this place. Honestly, I would still recommend this place for AYCE sushi despite the lack in service. And yes, they might not have given everything that we marked down but it's AYCE anyway so we just marked it again on the next sheet. I also did love their hojicha ice cream, another selection that you don't usually see at an AYCE spot. read more

The main thing that detracted from my experience here was the waiting. We arrived and were told we could be sat soon so we waited outside. Twenty minutes later we are told there's a table so we came back in and then they said they needed to find one more seat despite already knowing our party size (we called ahead of time). They said soon and we asked how long - they said 20 minutes so we decided to get a quick drink across the street. Fourty minutes later they call and say a table is almost ready so we come back. We wait at the entrance for 20 more minutes before a table is finally available. I think they should reconsider the meaning of "soon" because it took about two hours in total from when we had the original "you can be sat soon" to when we were actually sat. Aside from that the food was pretty good - it's technically an all you can eat though you have to order everything by phone and the wait time for dishes is a little variable (up to 30 min for some dishes). On a 90 minute time limit there's enough time for maybe two orders. The space is relatively small but it's popular and we had a good time because we were with great friends. Overall I might consider going back, but the frustration of getting in was a little much. We aren't the type to make a big deal aside from clarifying timing a couple times just to make sure we knew what to expect wait-wise. read more

A great lunch/dinner spot at an affordable price point if you're ever in the mood for ayce sushi. The hot food served here is surprisingly good for an ayce spot - their chicken udon had a very flavorful broth that we enjoyed. The sushi itself, particularly their rolls were a bit underwhelming in terms of flavor combinations - quality was not bad by any means but don't expect top tier fish given that this is ayce. Try their ice cream and sorbet to end your meal! You won't regret it we really enjoyed the yuzu flavored sorbet. We were able to make a reservation for 2 at 7pm on a weeknight and were seated immediately - the restaurant did fill up as the night progressed but nothing too crowded. I've been here multiples times over the months and the service and quality is excellent. The service is quick and the sashimi offerings are excellent. The special sushi rolls are not that exciting and use the same ingredients in a variety of ways - spicy tuna, kani salad, shrimp tempura and avocado. I especially love the grass jelly dessert. It's a great place to try appetizers are the portions are small and you don't feel that overwhelmed. read more

You get 1.5 seat time for AYCE for $30. Honestly its not a bad deal. The food and apps were good and the sushi was average. Some sashimi were kinda fishyy to the smell. The service is really slow however it is a very small place and so Its understandable that for a tiny place you have to make so much food. The wait is insane. The service couldve been much better ngl they were kinda rude and wanted to kick us out from the begining. AYCE sushi but NOT Sashimi. It was unclear what the limit was for sashimi. We were told we could only do orders of 10 for sashimi and that we had maxed out but we had about 15 slices of red clam for a table of 3 people. I feel like the limit should make sense. How does a plate of 15 red clams feed 3 people at a AYCE place? Make it make sense! Also, their instagram page falsely advertises "endless servings" of sushi, sashimi, and more. In reality, there are limits and this should be made more clear on their ordering app and by staff members. Service was pretty slow. We had to remind our waitress that we were waiting for a single order shrimp tempura. We were told that it was coming. It never came so we ended up reordering it again multiple times. I can't tell if it's because their system is a bit wonky or if this is an issue with staff. This was a little bit infuriating because they are extremely strict with time. They were rushing us to leave and told us there was a line for tables even though there was no one waiting for table and they had several other tables opened. On the bright side, staff members were really good at refilling our cups of water. Food quality was okay. Service is just very slow. It's about $20 for lunch but special rolls are not included. Probs wouldn't come back here again. I think there are better AYCE places that have more options and are clear in what the ordering limitations are. read more

SCREW these people. The manager, the underpaid workers, all of them. Good God, you all suck. There was no indication anywhere that this place would close at 4:30pm. Although, the wait staff was friendly and diligent as they picked up all the empty plates as they walked by, the food (ACYE menu) was not worth the trip to Astoria. Nothing tasted bad, but nothing tasted great. The limited choices of sashimi weren't optimal, but acceptable if they were extremely fresh. Unfortunately, they were just run-of-the-mill, not bad, but previously frozen. The first piece of shrimp tempura we ordered was soggy, but I did order a second one and it came out crispy. The chicken karaage were slightly over fried and over seasoned. The Takoyaki, seaweed salad, edamame were all OK , nothing special.
