    Chef combo lunch special
    Fuang C.

Friend suggested this place since she came here before and said the sushi was good. We came just in time for their lunch special (Monday - Saturday and ends at 3:30pm). We both got the chef combo 2 that came with 6 piece sashimi (2 tuna, 2 salmon, and 2 something that I can't remember), 3 pieces of sushi and 3 piece tuna and 3 piece salmon roll. It was reasonably priced at $15.50. It also comes with a soup or salad. Place is small and looks like a mom and pop shop. Cozy vibes and good service. Sushi was not bad and tasted pretty fresh but nothing too special. Nothing that blew taste buds. Portion feels kinda small, I was still feeling pretty hungry after. Feels more like a neighborhood restaurant not a restaurant I would travel for.

sushi was delicious! it was my first time coming here, i would come back again if im in the area, small and cozy

    Hair in ginger

It wasn't good , atleast the portion I ate until I found a huge hair in the ginger. I called asking for a partial refund and that I was willing to send the photo but she said not necessary and gave me a ten dollar credit for next time... in which I told her I wouldn't be returning.

Solid sushi place that's not too far from my apartment. Nothing fancy or anything that knocked my socks off, but we were satisfied. They get bonus points from me for having a veggie roll on their menu that includes tofu in it (I appreciate being able to get a little protein in a vegetarian roll). Boyfriend was satisfied with his tuna avocado and salmon cucumber rolls (the latter of which was not on the menu but they happily made upon request). Our server was very nice while taking our orders, and refilled our glasses of water many times. We were there on a slightly earlier side for a Saturday evening, so it wasn't too crowded. The dining area is on the small side - I can imagine it being quite cramped when full.

Solid spot for sushi. Seems decently priced. I like that they don't put too much rice in your rolls and the fish is pretty thick and fresh. Would come back again!

    Sashimi Deluxe with salad

We've ordered takeout from Bai Sushi twice now. Unfortunately, it's hard not to automatically compare similar items to other places that we've ordered from. We recently became fans of rolls with scallop in them so we figured we'd try that out here as well. We ordered the following: the spicy scallop roll, spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll and the sashimi deluxe with salad. I'll start by saying by bf enjoyed the sashimi and felt it was pretty solid. There was good variety for sure (I think they advertise it as 21 pieces) though I noticed they counted pieces of imitation crab, and tamago (egg) as part of this as well. For the rolls, my opinion was that it tasted average. Nothing tasted off (so this wasn't about freshness). The salmon avocado roll was pretty normal, somehow the spicy tuna roll didn't quite measure up to spicy tuna I've had from other spots (might just be my preference) and the spicy scallop roll was not as good as the scallop roll we'd had from the other place that we loved. So I admit, my main issue is with the rolls and how they don't measure up to other spots I've ordered from. That said, it sounds like the sashimi was good so I can't speak to other menu items.

    CRAB RANGOON special

Solid standards, a reliable place to try. Impressive range in menu, things made fresh. Food was good. Unique crab rangoon style. Service depends, would suggest not going when you're in a rush.

I was in Astoria to see a friend and was in the mood for sushi. I stumbled upon this place and it was great! Fresh fish, low prices. Always a great sign! The service was great, with kind waiters and quick preparation time. It's just a small, hole in the wall-ish sushi place, nothing fancy. But it's delicious!

Very affordable and delicious sushi. They have a lot of options and the quality is really good. I didn't really stay at the restaurant. I ordered it to go the service was good and very quick. I would highly recommend this place.

Be careful when you go inside because there is a step after you open the door. Packaging was convenient with the handle around the sushi box. Overall, the fish was mediocre considering the price. Some pieces were soft while others were very stringy and chewy. I am not one to dip sashimi in soy sauce because I like to just enjoy the natural flavor of raw fish with a little wasabi. However, since the fish was a bit fishy, I needed a little soy sauce to mask the taste. The wasabi was also on the mild side, so I added more than I usually would. I would have rated this place a 3/5, if I did not find a hair sitting on top of the ginger...

Noz Market fits an ever diminishing niche of good quality sushi and ambiance at a somewhat decent price point. I got the $155 option which was enough to feel full. The Chase Sapphire Reserve dining credit is applicable here, which is very helpful. The service was really good. I noticed that crumbs were dealt with expeditiously and my ice water never went empty. The tuna egg yolk appetizer was decent. The ten pieces of nigiri were as follows: 1. Scallop 2. Squid 3. Golden eye snapper: kinmedai 4. Horse mackerel: aji 5. Japanese bonito: katsuo 6. Rock shrimp 7. Yellowtail: buri (Note: I've never seen this, usually see Hamachi which is less mature) 8. Bluefin Tuna: akami 9. Chu toro 10. Oh toro The uni course was Hokkaido uni. Not as unctuous as Santa Barbara, but still good. The toro taku hand roll was a good size. It was toro with pickled yellow radish. The miso soup was very savory. I feel like there was some faint mushroom taste. I ordered two supplemental prices. Sea bream (Madai) and Knife jaw (Ishidai). They taste similar but I like the texture of the latter a bit more. I'd never had this before. Hojicha green tea. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious; however, diners this night did not get matcha Mont Blanc like others wrote about, which was a slight bummer.

Highly recommend making a reservation when you come here because it did fill up on a Monday evening. The sushi chef was very professional but did not really chat with us - he made each piece and then told us what each piece was and that was pretty much the extent of the conversation. The quality of the fish was really good and the rice was nice and warm. They offer you extra items that you can order at the end and I highly recommend getting a toro or crab handroll at the end because they were both delicious. For the $155 option it does come with a Matcha Monte Blanc as a dessert which was pretty yummy and it was a nice touch since not all omakase places come with a dessert at the end. Everyone was very friendly and professional here and I do recommend checking this place out. It did not feel like they were rushing you out the door!

The restaurant had multiple areas set up as such. The omakase serves many typical offerings starting off with hamachi, kanpachi, shima aji, and kinmedai. They do clearly ask about rice and wasabi preference in size throughout the dinner which is quite considerate. Drink menu was fine with a number of sake options including the chefs sharing glasses throughout the meal! The fish tasted good and fresh, rice was fine though nothing memorable. Middle courses had uni, ikura and snow crab - good courses and filling. Finally we ended with the premium courses - toro caviar and a5 Wagyu with uni. I would've preferred the toro/wagyu alone and is just my personal preference that the gourmet add ons don't enhance the piece for me. Otherwise they were very good. You then have the option to order additional courses including extras off the menu. Overall sushi by m is an excellent value for the omakase course and quality of fish. Because this restaurant is conveniently located near me, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant has two sushi counters, one larger and one smaller. I was seated at the smaller counter by the window. The staff was welcoming and friendly. There are two menu options, 12-course at $69 and 15-course with appetizers at $100. After asking the staff to explain the difference, I chose the 15-course option. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the chef at the counter was the owner, M. He was approachable, and we had a great conversation about his experience and the business. Clearly a hardworking and passionate chef. As for the sushi, the fish was fresh, well selected, and nicely cut. The rice, however, was a bit loose and occasionally did not hold together. Some of the sauces were slightly overpowering, which affected the balance of a few pieces. Overall, it was a solid experience with genuinely warm and attentive service. One suggestion would be to reconsider the background music. The current U.S. pop playlist feels disconnected from the ambiance of a sushi counter, and a more thoughtfully curated selection could elevate the overall experience.

Instead we got seated. We shared calamari and a California roll, and my husband had tuna sashimi. I had a miso soup and the Wagyu fried rice. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could for the ambiance and wow factor. But what was disappointing was the Wagyu fried rice had almost microscopic bits of beef. I guess I should have expected that for only $16. Calamari was excellent. So was the soup. California rolls were okay. In total our bill was $164 which seemed like a lot considering we didn't even leave stuffed - just comfortable.
