Ignore the bad reviews guys, they're over 6 year old reviews and they are now under new ownership! My boyfriend and I recently moved to the area and we came across this place as we were just walking around. It's my new favorite place for sushi and hibachi. I've had a good selection of their special rolls and most of their sashimi selections and I have no complaints about anything I've had. I absolutely love raw shrimp and Alan (super nice guy that always is there) but they didn't have it when I ordered. A week goes by and Alan says he got raw shrimp just for me I mean come on. He is the sweetest and he always takes good care of us. I've always been a take out gal as I like to eat goood meals in my own home and their takeout is always just as fresh. My new favorite is the Time Square roll and all of their sashimi (definitely take advantage of their buy 2 special rolls get 1 free deal). I order here almost every week . Unfortunate that this place has bad star ratings BUT, all of the bad reviews are over 6 years old! It's under new ownership and deserves more love! One of the best services I ever received from a restaurant with delicious food. When ordering from Abi through Grubhub, it kept getting delayed due to the lack of an attached driver. When it got to closing time for Abi, and the owner contacted me to inform me that the food was already prepared, however they were just waiting for Grubhub to pick up my order. Unfortunately, Grubhub ultimately cancelled my order after two hours of waiting, but the owner insisted that we still got our food and even offered to drop it off to my house, despite the far drive. My husband and I ended up driving to pick our order up because we felt bad that the restaurant opened an extra 45 minutes for us. When we got there, the owner informed us that Abi never received payment for our order, despite Grubhub cancelling the order on their end. We cannot thank Abi's customer loyalty enough and we will absolutely be returning there again. read more

I placed my first order here recently, for delivery so I can't speak to the service. My order was significantly late -- I got an update after placing the order that it was going to be an extra 30 or so minutes, but it was even late on top of that. After I placed my order, the restaurant called to let me know they were out of vegetable gyoza, which I appreciated. They I offered to switch it to pork or chicken instead, but I asked them to refund rather than replace since I'm vegetarian -- but, the person I spoke to on the phone said they did have the vegetable after all and it would be included in my order, so no problem. Luckily I ended up asking my husband to try them first just in case, because they'd actually sent chicken instead. On that note, I was also a little disappointed that they packaged my sushi together with my husband's since he ordered sushi with fish (some of it spread in transit), though I probably should have specified. All of this was a little bit of a bummer since I chose this spot over others because they had a wider range of veggie options than others in the area. I absolutely love the quality of the sushi from this place. I literally stopped eating so I could take a photo and post a positive review!! Even though I placed my order at 9:05PM, he said it would take 15 minutes. I went in 11 minutes and the order was already ready!! The chefs did it so quickly and yet the presentation is still amazing. This is so wonderful and after a long day at work, I really appreciate the thought they put into making this box. They follow our notes for sauce on the side and are generous with sauce amounts given. It's the best tasting poke bowl that delivers to our apt in LIC. Cons: expensive for a sushi bowl tbh. The base price is higher than most poke places and several toppings which usually are included in the base price at other places are +$1 here and can add up even more. We order through seamless and there is an additional delivery fee which has been increasing. Last time we ordered. They put in SO much rice. Surprise! Abumi Poke is the same as Abi Sushi on Seamless! Their poke bowls are BOMB. Like...seriously good. You get a lot of fixin's with the base price and they throw in a soup or a salad. Side note, their miso soup isn't great but whatever...that bowl tho... I suggest getting soy sauce on the side, or extra sauce to kick it up a notch. Usually, this place gets my delivery spot on. This time, they did not include an item I paid for. When delivery orders are incorrect or missing, establishments will do everything to correct them and send the correct order. Not Abi! Although I like refunds, I wanted the items that I requested. I give Abi a lot of business and am reconsidering whether or not I'll continue supporting this business. I have ordered from them a couple of times, and both times they came very quickly ( you need to be aware of their location when you order... if you are far from them, then it will take a long time for them to deliver to you) and the food has always been spot on and delicious! Ok sushi with decent prices. I order delivery from this place quite often and the delivery is very fast. The food is good but not great and they have decent prices. I am not a huge fan of the beed negimaki because i find they beef to be a little bland and chewy. I have not tried any of the speciality rolls but the standard sushi items are OK. I would recommend the crispy duck spring rolls, the fried oysters. The best deal is the bento box, which comes with two protein entrees. Plus, they have a very extensive lunch menu. My fav takeout jap bento place in the area! The dinner bento box is really worth a try, their portions are very generous for the price and you can choose 2 main entrees instead of just one (unlike most jap restaurants). I love the salmon teriyaki and tempura/sashimi combination. Comes with multiple sides like seaweed salad, siewmai and soup/salad that makes the meal really satisfying. People looking for a really large meal might go for 2 of the more substantial entrees instead (like katsu + salmon teriyaki). I usually choose one heavier entree and another lighter one since that's all I can handle. I would love to go there in person sometime! read more

This is our local, weekly sushi spot and it really deserves 5/5 stars. The delivery time is the fastest I have ever seen, the sushi is fantastic, and the prices are good. It's a solid option in the area. Not gourmet but definitely delicious and cheap. Most regular rolls are under $6-7 and throwing in the discount probably prices them around $3-4 each. It got delivered in a pretty timely manner and the delivery guy was nice. The katsu don itself was bland, but overall tolerable. After an eight-hour travel day, I was tired. I decided to order food via GrubHub (excellent app), and found this place. Japanese food sounded good to me, and who can resist free delivery with only a $10 minimum? I cross referenced with Yelp and thought this place would be okay. It was not. The soba soup I ordered tasted funny. There was this after taste that I cannot describe - too many mushrooms? There didn't seem to be too many in the soup itself. Furthermore, the noodles weren't real soba noodles. They were Chinese chow mein or lo mein noodles. What a disgrace! Being Chinese myself, I do not like it when restaurants mix up cuisines, and I am certainly particular about noodles. Moreover, if you're going to charge $13, I can understand why if you're using soba noodles, but if you're using Chinese noodles, they're easily half the price for twice the volume. And finally, the description on GrubHub said that this was served with a green salad, not included in the delivery package. The unagi temaki was decent though, although quite expensive for this kind of sushi, in my opinion. It was small, about four inches in length and not even an inch in diameter. I probably wouldn't order this again, as this size should warrant about a $4 charge, not $6. The gyoza was nothing to write home about - they were pretty tasteless. The delivery guy was Hispanic and didn't speak English well. I asked him if I needed to sign the GrubHub slip, which is pretty common, and he motioned no. Just ordered the Hawaiian bowl from seemless. What a big disappointment! The food was lukewarm like it mentioned below. Crab salad and edamame are missing. Everything was saggy in the bowl and taste not fresh. Portion is small. Their estimated delivery time is 30-40 minutes, but they have not come close on either occasion. The first time around, the person on the phone blamed the delay on "a busy night". Sure. As a result, 30-40 minutes turned to 80 minutes. The second time, they blamed the snow. Yes, it was snowing out and I was willing to accept some delay. What I didn't expect was nearly two hours for my food. I understand that a lot of things can go wrong that can lead to delays...fine...then set realistic estimates! I ordered Spicy Crunchy Salmon roll, Philly role, and Manhattan. Also had the gyoza & seaweed salad. Gyoza: Flavorless, tasted like the frozen ones you get in the supermarket. Seaweed Salad: Not hard to screw up, but this wasn't the best at all. Flavorless and had a weird smell. Rolls: Rolls were actually not bad at first, the crunchy salmon could use more crunch. Beware when ordering hot food and raw sushi for delivery! Although the food quality is up to par - the restaurant does not know how to properly package their food for delivery. On a regular basis (4+ times now) they put raw sushi on top/next to/under hot food, which will cause the fish to cook!!! They do acknowledge this error, and have replaced our food before ($50+ worth) which is respectable, but don't they know this error? I believe 2.5 stars is the most accurate review, but I also felt the need to round down to 2 instead of up to 3. My husband, friend and I ordered in tonight via GrubHub. Our consensus was that we will not be ordering from Abi again in the near future. The ordering process & delivery were quick & convenient. We ordered 2 appetizers, 2 miso soups, several rolls, a couple pieces of sashimi and a tempura cheesecake, which totaled $70. This was a bit steep, but we were glad to pay it for a quality meal, which was unfortunately not the case. I also would have liked to order my rolls with brown rice, but at .75 extra PER roll on top of already steep prices, I opted for the white rice instead. Now, to the food: The 2 appetizers we ordered were the salmon jalapeño poppers & the yellow tail taquitos. The poppers may not have traveled well because they were more soggy than crispy. Actually, they were not crispy at all. There was a strange temperature differential among the poppers' ingredients that was unappetizing. Specifically, the salmon was warmed amid the chilly, soggy outer layer. The taquitos were absolutely a step up and gave us hope after the disappointing poppers. Unfortunately, the quanity - 2 small tacos- were not worth the $8.25 price tag at all. Now to the sushi & dessert: The sushi rolls we ordered came in 6 pieces each roll. We had about 6 rolls altogether. My husband disagrees with me on this next point: I believed there to be too much rice & veggies and not enough fish in my rolls. He, on the other hand, was satisfied with the fish to rice/veggie ratio. Nonetheless, the 3 of us collectively agreed that the quality of fish was subpar. The fish tasted more like what we would have expected from a supermarket sushi stand or a less expensive, take out joint. I was highly disappointed by the mango & salmon roll as the mango was not at all ripe and therefore had zero flavor. None of the rolls were better than "okay." The main course definitely left more to be desired for all of us. Finally, the tempura cheesecake: it was a generously sized slice packaged nicely with a doily. Unfortunately, it was extremely soggy and it was definitely not worth the money or calories. Perhaps, like the poppers, it would have been better freshly made in the restaurant rather than delivered. First things first. It's like a 2.5 start eating. If I'd were the poke alone it would get 3.5-4 but unfortunately the sushi was pretty bad. The rice was hard, lacked sushi vinegar and overall was mediocre. The fish quality was good but that is probably the only good thing about it. Not only that, I found a fish scales in one of my sushi's. One thing to definitely stay away from is the ikura(salmon roe). The taste was horrid I had to spit it out. Note ikura is one of my favorite sushi. The proportion of rice to fish is also good but the rice lacked flavor. If you're going to get the Poke, go right ahead it's pretty good. But if you're here to get sushi it would probably be best to go elsewhere. read more

I've never had a bad dish from here. I order takeout at least once a week from here and it always tastes fresh. Love the poke bowls, and the spicy tuna rolls! Jalapeño poppers are really neat and incredibly spicy, so watch out! Service is consistent and I've never waited very long for food. Update: Food is still great. Ordered takeout again tonight and it was a little late, but the roads were awful after a major snowstorm. I had a terrible mix up with this restaurant this evening. Because of COVID my apartment building doesn't permit delivery people to come upstairs. I waited for my order for about an hour and then checked with my door station to see if I had missed my delivery. They told me nothing had been delivered for me. I called Abi and the person on the phone made a full scale effort to locate my order. In the end, he apologized and told me the delivery person would redeliver and call me from their personal cell so we could do a hand off. I did receive a call and exited my apartment. I saw a bag of food by door and thought it had just been delivered. A bit later I got another call from the delivery person who was waiting downstairs with my fresh food -this was my old order that had been there all the time! I called Abi to apologize and they were very gracious. The food was excellent but the service was beyond excellent. Given the stress everyone is under, exemplary customer service like this is really appreciated. In the end, the error was mine but I appreciated how responsive this restaurant is when a customer has a problem. read more
