This place is such a gem! Cash only but they're quick, fresh and affordable. I was a bit skeptical at first but a friend recommended it and I really enjoyed it!
No frills, hole in the wall, gem of UES. The value is incredible. The prices are amazing. The service is fast. They make the sushi in front of you. There's a small area in the front that seats 1-3 people. Everyone was kind. When I got up, they offered to throw my trash away even though there was a trash can nearby. Really enjoyed my quick bite here! Worth it for anyone craving sushi at an affordable and quick pace.
Is a hole in the wall, nothing special run by the family. They make it very quick and efficient. Might not be the best sushi but it's decent quality. If you want cheap/good sushi, you can't beat this price. if you ordered spicy roll there's a 40% crunch in it. You don't get to enjoy the sushi. I recommend ordering a regular roll.

Previously called Sashimi Express but now Sushi Spot, this is definitely a hole in the wall spot. It's no frills, service is quick, and it's cash only. We ordered our rolls and walked over to Central Park to enjoy as there's no seating around here. All 3 rolls were super good and the ratios of rice to fish was on point! The Yellowtail Scallion was a bit more heavy-handed with the rice but it was still quite good. The Salmon Avocado was creamy and fresh and the Spicy Tuna was soft with a little bit of spice from the Sriracha mayo. All in all, such a good spot for a quick sushi lunch!
Amazing value -- $12.45 gets you 3 rolls! The service is extremely fast, no frills. There's a small sitting area inside the store almost always available. A true local gem!

Is this the best sushi? No. But it's the best and freshest sushi you're going to get at this price and even that is an understatement. I got the triple box (spicy- you can also get non spicy), which came with a spicy tuna roll, a spicy salmon roll, spicy yellowtail roll and then (1) piece of salmon sushi, (1) piece of tuna sushi and (1) piece of yellowtail sushi all for $14.95 ($16.28 with tax)!!! The rolls itself are good- a little smaller than a regular roll but still very tasty. The 3 pieces of sushi were really good though! The fish was all very fresh and tasty. Service was great- my order was ready within 10min of ordering. Cash only!
The sushi here is insanely fresh. I was amazed and floored by the taste and texture of the fish. It is worth every penny. The place ja cash only. There is an ATM nearby just in case. No matter what you order you will be satisfied. Please show much love to this spot so they can continue to give back to the community. By the way, service is lightening fast. On a beautiful day, grab some sushi, walk to the park, and relax and enjoy the waterfront.
Good sushi that's cheap too! I think Sashimi Express also goes by the "Sushi Spot" which was on the receipt. We did their "Any 7 rolls" deal which was $24.75. They had so much variety of rolls to pick from. With their affordable prices, Sashimi Express is an excellent option for those looking to satisfy their sushi cravings without breaking the bank. The quality may not match that of high-end sushi restaurants, but the reasonable prices make up for it. The sushi is made to order and you can see the chefs make your sushi in front of you. Cash only, but they do accept venmo (with a 15% charge). It's a really lowkey and tucked away spot on 78th st. heading East from 2nd Ave. It's also close to Central Park so we had a little picnic with our sushi :) I would definitely come by again if I'm in the area!
Super impressed by the quality and price of the sushi here at sashimi express. I'm even more impressed that I can find such affordable sushi on the upper east side where food can be so pricey. I ordered the salmon box and the any three rolls. There was a great selection, both cooked and raw. Both were so affordable at just under $12 each and was a great portion size as well. I'd definitely come back since the fish was so fresh. My favorite was the salmon nigiri which was so delicious. When I got there, I was greeted with the super nice staff. They made my order right away and the service was impeccable. I got my rolls super quick - I'd say in under 5 minutes. If you're looking for cheap and delicious sushi don't hesitate to try this spot out for sure.

The spot and it's sister locations are an amazing hidden gem for the neighborhood. The upper Eastside is known for its high prices. I mean Dash I literally paid $17 for a chicken and broccoli, or a nearby Chinese takeout place. Here that won't be the case, you'll get really fresh sushi for an amazingly affordable price especially if you calling order and pick it up They are cash only so make sure that you come prepared. But each time I've been here the sushi has been particularly fresh, the rice, warm, and you can just tell that the few guys that are working behind the counter are putting a lot of hard work into what they do. It's a very no-frills hole in the wall kind of place and it only has two little stools by the counter for you to sit inside. Take out sushi usually doesn't taste as good or fresh. For perspective, three lol, will cost you just sort of $12 . in this day and age that's a bargain!

Amazing AFFORDABLE sushi right next to Central Park!! 15 dollar tray for 3 8pc sushi rolls and 3pc nigiri (salmon, tuna, yellowtail). For the 3 sushi rolls u get salmon, tuna, and yellowtail and can choose between the maki and spicy rolls. I got the spicy salmon and tuna and maki yellowtail because I didn't know how good quality the fish would be but my friend got the maki salmon and I have to say, the maki rolls are WAY better than the spicy rolls. Fish is good quality, but they also put some sort of rice puffs into the spicy salmon/tuna mix as a filler and I wasn't the biggest fan. The salmon and yellowtail nigiri was delicious but the tuna was just a bit fishy for me, but besides that everything is delicious! This is a takeout spot and the service is quick and efficient, we walked to Central Park and had a nice picnic :) If I came here again, I'd definitely get their $15 tray again and get the maki rolls, it's so worth the price :) read more

bring cash!!! solid takeout sushi for a good price. i have no complaints except i don't like lean tuna that much but otherwise this was a decent quality box of sushi. salmon was the best as per usual very fatty and fresh and the yellowtail was a sleeper hit. they paired it with scallion which provided a nice tang. the triple box is a good bang for ur buck. don't get the spicy one tho cuz every spicy roll tastes and looks exactly the same lol read more
Such a hidden gem. My friend and I were trying to find a good sushi spot where we could get and take to eat at Central Park and happened to stumble upon this place. They only accept cash but so worth it. The sushi boxes came with so many varieties and was so cheap too. (~$12). They made it fairly quick too and contained so many rolls and sashimi. Would definitely come here again if I want a quick sushi box set to go. read more

3/3 Food; 1/1 Service; 1/1 Value Sushi Spot aka Sashimi Express is a true hole in the wall and a hidden gem-- it is literally so easy to walk right by this no-frills, unassuming spot that will easily blow one away with the value for the sushi. The staff is friendly and quick with service. The sushi rolls are a steal-- delicious and fresh for dirt cheap prices. Is it the best sushi in all of NYC? No. But, for the price relative to the incredible quality, it is high up on the list of great sushi spots! One on occasion, my friend and I spent less than $40 between 7 rolls, two miso soups, and a kani salad to end up in a food coma that was absolutely worth every bite. Our favorite rolls were the pepper tuna, the spicy salmon, and the shrimp tempura, but really we liked every single roll. On the other hand, the kani salad was okay, and the miso soups were pretty standard. They are very busy and do not offer delivery services, so the wait time can be on the longer side if not called in earlier during peak meal hours. They are cash only. There is also limited seating inside and even space to stand is on the more limited side. Regardless, this place deserves a strong 5 simply by virtue of the quality, flavor, and value! read more

I heard about this place from a new friend who just moved to the UES. This place is cash only and is super small - made for take out. I got 3 rolls for $12.45 (tax included). I know I've said this before but this is truly the best kept secret of the Upper East Side! This restaurant has gotten so creative. They do a cash only special for pick-up that you can only order if you call them directly. 3 rolls for $9.95 and 7 rolls for $22! I AM DEAD SERIOUS! Today will be my second time taking advantage of these amazing deals! And almost forgot - get the $4 Kani salad. It's freakin amazing! And you might be asking yourself- am I risking freshness and quality for a cheap price? 100% not! This is one of THE freshest if not the freshest pick-up/take-out sushi I've ever had in Manhattan. I looked up some lunch options in the area, and came across this place. I can never turn down cheap and fresh sushi, so decided to go with it. The prices are unreal. Haven't seen prices like these even outside Manhattan, let alone UES. I've been wanting sashimi for a while, and was definitely gonna take advantage of these prices. Especially since so many Yelpers rave about the quality and freshness here. So I ordered salmon, yellowtail, mackerel, and scallop. Also ordered the 3 rolls special: spicy tuna, eel shrimp tempura, and boston roll. The sashimi was indeed fresh which I appreciated. Not something you wanna be iffy about lol. The sushi rolls were ok. The reason I say that is because the rice was borderline mushy, and had a gummy texture. Hopefully that is just a fluke. That kinda killed it for me. Tbh every roll missed the mark. Spicy tuna was bland, Boston roll did not have lettuce that it's supposed to, and the eel shrimp tempura would've been good if the shrimp tempura didn't have an old oil taste. I wish my review had more positives. I will say that I would give it another shot if I'm in the area. The staff was very friendly. The sashimi was definitely worth it. read more

I found out about this place from Tiktok and it's instantly clear that people on Tiktok as well as some yelpers should clearly not be giving advice on where good sushi is. I came excited, but should have known better. Their sushi I would say is actually a step lower than Dainobu or Katagiri which are supermarkets. Trying to be so nice because they are a small business. However, the thoughts that vibrated through my mind when receiving my food were like "this is it?". I ordered the Salmon Box ($11.95) and at Katagiri you can literally wait for end of the day specials and get something superior. I just felt like I wasted my time, money, and sanity. read more

Great little spot for sushi in the Upper East Side! Sushi can get pretty expensive in this area but this spot is quick and affordable. I wasn't too hungry so I got the Crystal Salmon Roll and the salmon was super fresh! You know it's good salmon when the salmon that they use is fatty. The roll costed about $6 with tax included which is quite affordable in this area of Manhattan. They also offer a deal where you can get your choice of 3 rolls for less than $12 and a salmon/yellow tail box for less than $15. For quality, price, and location, this place cannot be beat! read more
