After playing at a nearby playground, we were starving and looking for a place to eat. This restaurant popped up in my search and was conveniently located just two blocks away, so we decided to give it a try. It's a fast-casual spot specializing in Americanized Japanese fare. Here's what we ordered:
Shumai ($5.99/6pcs): you can choose to get them steamed or fried and I highly recommend getting them fried. They were cooked perfectly and it had a nice crispy exterior and soft center. Yes, they aren't as healthy but they are so much more tasty fried!
Shogun Wings ($7.99/5pcs or $13.99/10pcs): solid wings. They were very crispy and slightly salty. It was accompanied with some kind of soy based dipping sauce.
Spring Rolls ($5.99/3pcs): was just okay and would probably skip these next time.
Dragon Roll ($12.99): eel and cucumber with avocado on top and drizzle of eel sauce. This was delicious but much too similar to a stadard Eel roll which I could probably have ordered for $8.
Beef Teriyaki Bowl ($11.99): served with fried rice and broccoli. The teriyaki sauce was very good but the beef was a bit too chewy.
We also got two Hibachi Bentos which came with miso soup, rice (white or fried), broccoli, two pieces of gyoza and four pieces of a California roll.
Hibachi Salmon Bento ($14.99): I opted for white rice. It came with 3 pieces of Salmon and was really solid dish.
Hibachi Chicken Bento ($13.99): We chose fried rice. It came with a generous portion of sliced teriyaki chicken. We all agreed this was by far the best dish among the beef, salmon and chicken bowls we ordered.
Taro Milk Tea ($5.99): good overall, and tapioca was nice and soft.
Overall, a great lunch. We scarfed everything down. Good to know there's a solid spot to grab a bite whenever we are near by. read more
