So cute! I love the aesthetic and the food! The Thai iced tea is a must order. It comes with an ice cube in the shape of a bear (filled with Thai iced tea). You can't get that anywhere else! We ordered the lychee duck curry and the pineapple fried rice. Food came out quick. Service was excellent. The ambiance is also stunning! I love the hanging flowers. Will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful experience here. The appetizers are super cheap. Customer service was on top of everything. They even made me a drink that wasn't on the happy hour menu. The happy hour is great too. This place definitely passes the vibe check. The place wasn't too loud or anything, I think we were the 1st customers. I'm happy it was cool in temperature. They definitely deserved the 25% tip. I'd definitely make this a starting off place before heading to a dinner. Wish I lived closer I'd have their appetizers for lunch on the daily. Those fried oysters did not disappoint. ::bathroom alert:: Clean bathrooms. I appreciate the nice smelling soap. I love the decor of the place, its floral and just beautiful. Such a chill spot to go. I absolutely love the fish tanks.
Went to Hero Thai for dinner on a Sunday and it was a nice, easygoing experience. It wasn't too busy, which was a plus. We had the chicken pad see ew and the garlic fried rice with shrimp, both were good and flavorful, no complaints. Nothing over the top, just solid Thai food that hit the spot. Would definitely recommend and would go back.
Always enjoy coming to Hero as there's never a wait, service is prompt, and the food is always consistently good. They have expanded their menu to a more "Pan Asian" style, but I stick to the Thai items which never disappointed. If you're vegetarian, they have a number of pant based meat products to give you your protein options. Nice and cool ambiance.
Delicious lunch and great price starts at $11.50 entree comes with soup or salad and an appetizer. I opted for the salad & crab Rangoon - then really enjoyed the tofu tom yum noodle soup! My husband got the curry pork katsu and we also got mango sticky rice to try (thought this was okay for the price, the rice wasn't sticky enough bland didn't really taste like dessert). I enjoyed the lychee Thai tea and the Thai coffee came with a little frozen coffee ice bear. Staff was so friendly and attentive, I enjoyed the experience and will be back again.
Went here on a random Wednesday night for dinner. We were greeted by friendly servers who sat us right away. We ordered the shoyu ramen, shrimp tempura, and the tom yum soup with shrimp. The ramen had a nice light and flavorful broth. The tom yum soup was packed with flavor and spicy just the way I liked it. The shrimp tempura was okay--it was a bit heavy on the breading. Our waitress was warm and friendly and checked up on us frequently. Overall a pretty solid place.

Came here with my boo for a lunch date. We thought the lunch specials were only on the weekdays but it's also on weekends so that was a nice start. They go on from 12:00 to 4pm. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice day, we didn't order any appetizers since the special already came with an appetizer+ soup or salad. We ordered a crispy spring roll and the gyoza. For our entrees we both got the chicken pad Thai. Everything was super delicious and fresh and served super fast. This place was very impressive, the inside is beautiful and inviting and very clean. It opened in 2018 and survived the pandemic so it's doing something right. Can't believe I'm just hearing about it now and I've lived in Astoria 20 years now. What a find. Def going back to try different things. Great service + good prices too.
My friend and I was craving Thai food and decided to check out the spot. Appetizers: their fried chicken gizzards was perfectly battered and the sauce was delicious, we also had their duck rolls. Entrees: Mock duck with eggplant, who knew a vegetarian dish could be this tasty. Their seafood Tom yum is also a must try. We had to get their mango sticky rice and it was delicious as well. Service was attentive and friendly. We can't wait to come back! Super laid back ambiance as well.
We got the Duck Roll, Khao Kao Soi Ramen, Crispy Spring Roll, Crispy Duck Salad w/ Mock duck, Vegetable Dumplings, Fried Chive Pancake, Crab Rangoon, Salmon Mango, Green Curry, takoyaki, and thai iced tea. This place has amazing appetizer options! I really loved the duck roll, which is duck wrapped in an asian pancake. It was my favorite appetizer. The fried chive pancake was also very good and crispy. Most of the appetizers came out hot and crispy; however, those two dishes were my favorite of them all. The Khao Kao Soi Ramen was an interesting combination of thai khao soi with Japanese ramen. It was good but very heavy. I was able to finish it after having the appetizers. The salmon was moist and flavorful. The green curry were also very good and on par with other places serving similar dishes in the area. Service was great. We had a large group and they were very accommodating. I do recommend making reservations ahead of time if you have a big group.

Got the yummy hearty Koa Soi Ramen, the curry is spicy but not overwhelming it just warm you a bit on cold days, so perfect on winter, and I paired with my fav Thai Iced Tea that come with a bear-y sweet company, lol , he was my date. read more

I would say it's a 3. The spot is beautifully decorated and it is intimate. The servers were warm and inviting. The menu offers a blend of Japanese and Thai cuisine. I know this place has wonderful reviews, and this could have just been my experience, but I think the food was just okay. That said, I would come back to explore more of the menu because everything else of the experience was splendid. I ordered the Tiger Cry Steak, which is a grilled sirloin steak with Jim jiaw sauce, and your choice of side salad or fries. I would say the jim jiaw sauce is an acquired taste - it was bold and a bit too fishy for me, so I did not used it for the meat. Speaking of which, I asked for medium well and it was overcooked and tough, which was a bit of a letdown. read more

Food and drinks are always excellent - definitely ordered takeout and sat in at least a dozen times!! Happy hour every day 12-7 - you can't beat it!!! Big fan of their gyoza as well as their coconut ramen. Gamechanger for people who love thai + japenese food, and for folks who are vegetarian or don't eat pork!! They are beyond sweet as well, amazing service. read more

Loved the food here! Everything was very flavorful and their staff is so nice an attentive. Our food was served quickly as well! I also love their decor, it felt like a fun place for a date night or a dinner out with friends. For drinks we got the lychee martini and we got the mango Thai iced tea. Both were very refreshing and a good complement to our meal. For appetizers we got the ikageso and the jumbo sweet chili wings. The wings were AMAZING, saucy but still a bit crispy and they were HUGE. It was also very juicy. For entrees we got the crispy duck over rice and the mentai pasta. The pasta is so unique and I loved the creamy sauce they used! For dessert we got the taiyaki with ice cream. The taiyaki was warm and I loved the red bean filling. It was perfect with the ice cream! Overall such a great place for both Thai and Japanese food. Def check them out! read more

Went here with my husbancito and then returned with some friends, and each time, the food did not disappoint. Their laarb is full of flavor and super fresh, definitely a winner. The service was friendly and quick, and the staff really made us feel at home. The glass of wine was way too small for the price, so I'd suggest grabbing a bottle instead. The Hot sake however was a perfect choice! As for the spice level, it's definitely more on the mild side, catering to Western tastes. So, don't expect it to be too fiery, but it's still tasty! Great place to enjoy a chill night out with good food and drinks. read more

Nestled in the heart of Astoria, this unique Thai and Izakaya spot offers an incredible variety of Thai and Japanese cuisine. From flavorful Thai starters to delectable Japanese appetizers, there's something to tantalize every palate. The duck roll is a must try. It is so yummy. The place is a hybrid, Thai and Japanese cuisine, establishment, so, there goes authenticity. However, I must acknowledge that it is not impossible for a restaurant to do two things well... just very rarely does that happen. I consider this a westernized version of Asian food. The curry was so so... reminiscent of supermarket bought instant curry. Presentation on the seafood soup was nice; but, the prawns was not fresh at all. The meat was all clumpy and hard to get off its shell. My Char Siu bowl was overpowered with eel sauce. Our waitress was attentive. The dining area looked clean. On more than one occasion, we noticed a very strong flower like scent. Maybe a cleaning agent they used on tables? They charge you a percentage for using CCs. If you pay with cash, pls count your change. The cashier's math skills were not very impressive. read more
Upon a friend's recommendation, my party of 7 dropped by Hero Thai for a Friday dinner. We were happy to be able to nab a table without much of a wait. Notably, we took advantage of the Yelp check in benefit and got free Singha beers on the house. The Japanese Thai fusion dishes hit the spot for us: my friend's mentai pasta was really good, and I liked the interesting take for my chili bacon pasta. Although I'm unlikely to crave my pasta again. It was a great filling meal. The interior was designed quite thoughtfully - thai posters on the wall. A great spot if you are looking for some Thai or Japanese comfort food with a choice of some different Asian fusion dishes. read more
Great, customer service, excellent ambiance. My family and I were starved for lunch. We walked in and were seated immediately. Ordered chive pancakes, fried calamari, crab Rangoon for appetizers, wasn't a fan of the crab Rangoon. But everything else was good, Everything was Devine, flavors on point. WARNING! DO NOT EAT HERE! Sad to leave this review as this was our favorite Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. Ordered takeout and to my wife's horror we found a sizable roach in the red curry tofu! We were issued a refund after complaining but never received an apology from the manager or owner. I have recommended this place to friends and family. The worst part is the food here is honestly delicious. If you don't mind eating roaches then I recommend Hero Thai, otherwise stay away. If this is what they offer to customers I can't imagine what else is hiding in the kitchen... read more
My go-to Thai restaurant in Astoria. It's unique as it mixes Thai, Japanese, and Korean cuisine, while all of the food has great "wok chi". My favorite is their kimchi pasta - a bit on the spicy side, but good fusion of Korean and western food. Their coconut ramen is also worth trying, although I would not recommend the beef option. Ventured out here as they were listed for Queens restaurant month. The menu has some interesting things beyond standard Thai. The Tom yum seafood hotpot came out first. Flavor was good, good amount of seafood. Overall worth the try. Then came pad kee maow with duck. This was very average. The duck was a bit dry and not super flavorful- would recommend a different protein. At this point we reminded our waitress we had ordered the chicken curry puff, which was forgotten. This was actually quite good (I'm not sure what to do with the sauce, don't need it) but would have been much preferred at the beginning of the meal. The vibe of the place is a bit divey. Overall, will probably stick to other Thai places next time as this didn't add much to our repertoire. read more

Came in on a whim around 5 on a hot Friday, the staff was very friendly and sat us by the fish tank after seeing our fascination! The food came out quickly and was delicious! First time visiting this restaurant and it did not disappoint! The Halloween decorations just made it that much more festive! Their menu was huge so there is bound to be something you'd like! The Fried Oyster was good! Might be a bit pricy for only 4 pieces but worth it! My favorite dish would be the fried snapper, as the meat was already cut out for you and no need to make a mess trying to debone! Drinks were sweet but that's how I like them! The service was quick and they were super nice. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone to try out! read more

A surprisingly good Thai and Japanese place! I wasn't expecting much when I saw it was a fusion, because I was really skeptical of how that would turn out but it was pretty good! Food: we ordered the curry puffs, which are a must have! More potato's than chicken but still delicious. The pad Lee maow was not spicy at all but still very good and flavorful! The cashew nut with chicken from the Thai classic section was really delicious. Keeping with the Thai food from here, we also got the kao soi ramen, which is more of a Thai curry than a Japanese ramen! The broth was coconut based which i enjoyed but this was probably my least favorite sish compared to the others Bc the coconut was overpowering Ambience: it's a really small restaurant but I came here at 4 pm on a Friday and it was pretty empty. It felt very clean! Service: good service! They were really fast with getting us our food! Price: every dish is about $13! Nothing was expensive and very in line with other Thai places! read more
