L3. Tofu and Vegetable Teriyaki
Nicole L.

Called in for lunch special on Monday-- my friends and I all got teriyaki salmon, tofu and tempura lunch specials It comes with soup AND salad. Quality of meal was excellent-- huge pieces of broccoli, carrot and baby corn along with four piece California roll and rice. Salmon was cooked perfectly. Paid 12.95$ for salmon meal - true convergence of quaility and value!

I ordered delivery so I can't speak to the quality of the restaurant itself but the food is just alright. It isn't the best quality fish or rice, but I've had worse. The Astoria roll was definitely the best because the sauce gave it flavor. I also wasn't expecting there to be cucumber in the spicy salmon roll. At least the prices are cheaper than other sushi places I've ordered from.

Definitely one of the better sushi spots I've been to in NYC. The spot looks small on the outside but it's fairly large inside. I was greeted immediately when I came inside so service is spot on for sure. Food service was timely and the food I've had was very good. Grilled teriyaki chicken w/ Rice filled me up along with the spicy Tuna roll I had as an extra. It is pretty costly though. All that along with the Iced Tea I ordered came up to $27 but I don't mind it. It came up to that price because I ordered an entree along with sushi a la carte on the side. They do have lunch specials for $12 so there's something you can get on a budget. I definitely recommend this hole in the wall spot with food that I'd say is worth it's price.

Sushi was very fresh, delicious, and ready shortly after I ordered. Staff was friendly and helpful. New favorite sushi spot in Astoria, run don't walk :)

Stopped in here on a whim while apartment hunting, taking a pause to eat a late lunch and duck out of some rainy weather. It was very quiet inside, with only one other couple dining, and we had incredibly attentive and friendly service. Food came out fast and fresh! We got a few standard rolls and split the edamame potstickers -- I wasn't totally sure what to expect there, but I definitely recommend!

Great place to order sushi from! Vast menu with something for everyone! A must order is the Astoria roll! Food: we ordered a lot of the specialty rolls and they were all delicious! My favorite is the Astoria roll, it has a sweet flavor that is delicious! The spicy chicken roll was also very delicious! I personally like chicken sushi more than others, and this one did not disappoint! It had a delicious sauce as well! The volcano roll and the chefs special roll are interesting! Very the shumai has crab and chicken, and wrapped in noodles! It was good but very different than what I was expecting! Price: reasonably priced for sushi and for special rolls! They have lunch specials which are more economical

Menu

King crab dumplings were wonderful, freshly made. Service was perfect. Unfortunately the rest of the food was disappointing. The sushi had a very minimal amount of ingredients inside, and everything tasted off. It didn't taste fresh, and the teriyaki dish was quite overcooked. Wish it were a different experience.

a hidden gem! my friend brought me here on my last day of visiting them in nyc for lunch & it was so good! i love how wholesome & intimate it feels between customers & the staff! there's plenty of tables & a great view of the sushi chef, even though it's not a huge place. we were asked if we preferred a table of four or table for two & we were fine with the table for two (but if you're gonna order a few appetizers or small plates, maybe get a larger table)! we ordered the salmon tartar & seared tuna for our appetizers then the fancy dragon roll as we weren't too hungry yet so this was just the perfect amount. we only waited less than ten minutes for our appetizers to come in then our roll arrived shortly after. the presentation of each were so well done & the flavors were even more amazing! i loved the unique texture of the salmon tartar, how it was topped with green panko! the seared tuna had such a refreshing taste & the leafy greens were complemented with a light dressing! my favorite is eel so when i saw the fancy dragon roll on the menu with mango?? it was a game changer! it wasn't too noticeable but it pairs so well with it! overall, i really enjoyed the service, decor, & food! i can totally see myself swinging by for a quick sushi fix as it was so convenient & not too pricey! i look forward to coming again next time i visit nyc!

JJs Fushion is such a great sushi spot in Astoria. Great food, great service, and very reasonable prices. Their sushi is fresh and delicious, and they have some very unique rolls that are great to try. Exceptionally good sushi restaurant with a hip ambience. An intriguing selection of specialty rolls, and a wide variety of tasty desserts that actually sound like authentic Japanese dishes. Polite and attentive service. Dark lighting and close quarters, yes, but these merely add to the intimate vibe. Only real drawback is the proximity of some tables to the door, which adversely affects temperature and comfort. JJ's is by far 1 of THE best sushi restaurant i've been to in Queens. The sushi is good and the dishes are very innovative. I definitely recommend the Astoria roll and the spicy chicken roll. Really unique appetizers, amazing sushi rolls, awesome menu all around. I Wanted to order everything on the menu. I seriously started googling "how much sushi can you eat before getting mercury poisoning?" DEFINITELY COMING BACK AND A MUST TRY!!!!!!

We got the nigiri deluxe, maki box, wagyu nigiri (incredible) and yellowtail jalapeño appetizer and everything was incredible. The texture of the sushi is buttery and so incredibly fresh. The restaurant is quite small, with one table that seats 4, and seating at the window. There are 2 small tables outside, as well. Be careful when you go inside because there is a step after you open the door. Packaging was convenient with the handle around the sushi box. Overall, the fish was mediocre considering the price. Some pieces were soft while others were very stringy and chewy. I am not one to dip sashimi in soy sauce because I like to just enjoy the natural flavor of raw fish with a little wasabi. However, since the fish was a bit fishy, I needed a little soy sauce to mask the taste. The wasabi was also on the mild side, so I added more than I usually would. I would have rated this place a 3/5, if I did not find a hair sitting on top of the ginger...

Food: 4.6/5 Service: 4.7/5…read moreAmbiance: 4.3/5 Value: 4.2/5 Omakase in NYC is ubiquitous now, but the high end sushi places are about as unaffordable as I've ever seen. Noz Market fits an ever diminishing niche of good quality sushi and ambiance at a somewhat decent price point. I got the $155 option which was enough to feel full. The Chase Sapphire Reserve dining credit is applicable here, which is very helpful. The service was really good. I noticed that crumbs were dealt with expeditiously and my ice water never went empty. The tuna egg yolk appetizer was decent. The ten pieces of nigiri were as follows: 1. Scallop 2. Squid 3. Golden eye snapper: kinmedai 4. Horse mackerel: aji 5. Japanese bonito: katsuo 6. Rock shrimp 7. Yellowtail: buri (Note: I've never seen this, usually see Hamachi which is less mature) 8. Bluefin Tuna: akami 9. Chu toro 10. Oh toro The uni course was Hokkaido uni. Not as unctuous as Santa Barbara, but still good. The toro taku hand roll was a good size. It was toro with pickled yellow radish. The miso soup was very savory. I feel like there was some faint mushroom taste. I ordered two supplemental prices. Sea bream (Madai) and Knife jaw (Ishidai). They taste similar but I like the texture of the latter a bit more. I'd never had this before. Hojicha green tea. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious; however, diners this night did not get matcha Mont Blanc like others wrote about, which was a slight bummer.

They offered two different option a $90 course option and a $155 course option and you choose which one you want when you first make the reservation. Highly recommend making a reservation when you come here because it did fill up on a Monday evening. The sushi chef was very professional but did not really chat with us - he made each piece and then told us what each piece was and that was pretty much the extent of the conversation. The quality of the fish was really good and the rice was nice and warm. They offer you extra items that you can order at the end and I highly recommend getting a toro or crab handroll at the end because they were both delicious. For the $155 option it does come with a Matcha Monte Blanc as a dessert which was pretty yummy and it was a nice touch since not all omakase places come with a dessert at the end. Everyone was very friendly and professional here and I do recommend checking this place out. It did not feel like they were rushing you out the door!

Chefs are distributed evenly for parties allowing for a fairly intimate setting but with efficient service. The restaurant had multiple areas set up as such. The omakase serves many typical offerings starting off with hamachi, kanpachi, shima aji, and kinmedai. They do clearly ask about rice and wasabi preference in size throughout the dinner which is quite considerate. Drink menu was fine with a number of sake options including the chefs sharing glasses throughout the meal! The fish tasted good and fresh, rice was fine though nothing memorable. Middle courses had uni, ikura and snow crab - good courses and filling. Finally we ended with the premium courses - toro caviar and a5 Wagyu with uni. I would've preferred the toro/wagyu alone and is just my personal preference that the gourmet add ons don't enhance the piece for me. Otherwise they were very good. You then have the option to order additional courses including extras off the menu. Overall sushi by m is an excellent value for the omakase course and quality of fish. The dining experience is quite hospitable towards each party and chefs are quite engaging. I would definitely recommend for casual omakase experiences!

At first glance, it almost looks like a real tank. The menu was extensive, albeit pricey. We made the mistake of not sitting at the bar for the Happy Hour specials, but it was kind of crowded. Instead we got seated. We shared calamari and a California roll, and my husband had tuna sashimi. I had a miso soup and the Wagyu fried rice. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could for the ambiance and wow factor. But what was disappointing was the Wagyu fried rice had almost microscopic bits of beef. I guess I should have expected that for only $16. Calamari was excellent. So was the soup. California rolls were okay. In total our bill was $164 which seemed like a lot considering we didn't even leave stuffed - just comfortable. I get that we were paying for the location and scenery - if we ever go back we will sit at the bar and do the happy hour deals. In all - upscale, cozy and high quality. I'm sure it attracts a lot of locals. But I'd rather go to one of the many great sushi places in Hell's Kitchen for more food, less money.
