I visited a second time and was discouraged. I ordered the seared tuna. It was good but not great. I was disappointed when I arrived at work. It came with a slice of toasted bread. It looked fine but when I turned it over it was burnt. After scrapping some of the burnt area it still tasted like I was eating charcoal. See picture attached. I still love Tender Greens for their healthy, yet tasty, selections of salads, soups, and veggies. And they are still my number one work lunch destination--need something that will not weigh me down and give me food coma the second half of the day. However, I can no longer give them five stars because I've had a bit too much so-so food lately. I ordered a fish plate the other day (cod?). It was nicely/lightly breaded, but the fish was dense, dry/overcooked. The salad was only slightly dressed with a lemon dressing that was kinda bitter and unappealing. I had to ask for another dressing to improve it. The bulgar salad that came with the plate was bland. I've run into some other problems as well: 1) sometimes the veggies are too undercooked/hard. Believe me, I don't like mushy veggies, but they really need to get their steaming or sautéing down so they are firm, but not tough. 2) my last harvest salad was not nearly as good as the usual ones. There were some pieces of lettuce with were too old and deteriorating, which I've never seen in the past. They've always had such fresh lettuce--what happened? I hope his is a rare occasion. 3) in the Harvest Salad, there were also pieces of melon with the rind on them (or cut too closely to the rind). Please--Don't make me take food out of my mouth. Also the melon was not ripe so the salad was pretty bland. Common TG, don't let me down. I neeeeeed you! You're how I stay healthy during the week, so I can eat pizza and burgers on the weekend. My family and I stopped here for a quick dinner before watching a taping of America's Got Talent. You order up front, and your food is quickly prepared so that it's nearly ready by the time you are done paying in line. There are so many choices, mostly healthy, some not-so-healthy options, too. I had a big lunch, so I wasn't that hungry; I ordered the Happy Vegan salad ($12). I loved it, and finished the entire thing! It comes with "farro wheat with cranberry and hazelnuts, quinoa with cucumber and beets, green hummus, tabbouleh, baby greens, and lemon vinaigrette". Super healthy! The hummus was delicious-it might've been an edamame hummus or something. The only downside is that my mom was craving falafel, and it was VERY salty. She couldn't even finish it. I tried it too, and one bite had so much salt. She asked for a plate of hummus instead, but they didn't give us a refund or anything. The service was friendly, though. The outside skin was cripsy and not too oily and the meat on the inside was really juicy. The kale salad was like your regular basic salad nothing special. The Mac and cheese was so worth the extra money. It was creamy goodness and had this layer of bread crumbs on the top that gave it some texture making it even better. I thought that I wouldn't be full from the meal but I had to take some of my Mac and cheese home. The price is more than most places but you are paying for higher quality of food and healthier options, but I don't know about my friend chicken. I decided to give Tender Greens another chance because the last time I was here, I did not have the fondest experience. I ordered the steak plate, which came with mashed potatoes, an arugula side salad with lemon vinaigrette, and a toasted piece of bread. It came out really quickly to my surprise. Tender Greens is basically a cafeteria style, in which you tell the first person what you want and they put in the order for you. Afterwards, you pick it up at the end of the line and you pay for your meal. I really enjoyed my meal! The steak was nice and medium rare, very tender and was full of flavor. I feel like the reason I didn't fully enjoy my experience last time was because I ordered something that was very dry. The side salad was refreshing and made me feel balanced. It wasn't too heavy and that is why I was able to enjoy my steak. The mashed potatoes were great because they were nice and buttery, with little bits of potato skin that added texture. It has a sherry vinaigrette which was light and refreshing today (which was hot!!! For socal). The chipotle barbecue chicken was delicious. You could taste the smokeyness with it. The chicken wasn't dry. It worked really well with the ciabatta bread which was sooooooooo soft. The red peppers and aioli just complicated the chicken and it was a very good meal. They serve beer and wine. I opted for the mint lemonade. It was all right. A little to tangy for my taste. My only negative remark will be about the price. $10.50 for a big salad? I think that is ridiculous. It's a salad! Even my sandwich was the same price and after tax & my drink it came out around $14.Xx just for lunch. Was it worth it? THE DETAILS: Located by Old Town Pasadena, which means you have to find street parking or park in a structure. The restaurant has seating inside and an outdoor patio as well. The decor is rustic and woodsy and it's very spacious. My friend and I came around 5ish and it wasn't as busy as I thought it was. The line moves quick as well. The employees are friendly and helpful when you don't know what to order. The food is around $12 and I think it's a reasonable price for what you get. THE FOOD: There are plenty of options from plates to salads and how you want it; for example, on a sandwich or as a hot plate. I ordered the herb brushed albacore as a hot plate, substituted the mashed potatoes for grilled vegetables, and I didn't know which salad to pick so I asked the cashier to 'surprise me'. She chose the baby spinach salad and I think it was a great choice! And that slice of grilled bread brushed with garlic butter is so simple but just so good*__* Service is great here as well: my food was taking a while, so they offered to bring my food to my table and offered me a complimentary dessert as well! I chose to try their white chocolate chip cookie, and they gave me 2 for my table. Although sweet, the texture of the cookies were on point, and what is better than free am I right? I wanted to try a new place with my parents, who have some mobility issues. I tried calling this restaurant about parking accessibility, and you simply cannot speak to a human. Apparently customer service, and actual human beings are not a priority for this establishment. I tried calling, and it's an endless array of menu options. If you dial zero, it takes you right back to the main menu. It's worse than the cable company. If you wait on hold, it hangs up on you after two cycles. While the menu options does give you "parking information", the information is useless unless you're extremely familiar with the location already. It casually mentioned that there is some Mendocino "something" that you can park in, but if you're not EXTREMELY local, that information is completely useless, and I was just hoping to get more information about that, like the proximity to the restaurant, or drop off options. I thought I'd get creative and push the number for modifying an existing order, surely there would be a human at that point, but no, once you get to that menu, it's press 3 for Postmates, press 4 for DoorDash, press 5 if we couldn't care less about you, etc. it is blatantly clear that they have no desire to actually interact with potential customers, so I'm just gonna take my parents somewhere else, which is disappointing, because I've been hoping to find a new place to take them for our weekly dinners. I am rather confident that I fall within the parameters of their financial target demographics, so it's really a loss for them. I just wanted to talk to someone. Two quick questions, 20 seconds tops, but apparently they're way too important to be bothered with pedestrian issues such as expanding a client base. My go to spot for a quick meal! Think of it as a salad version of chipotle except you order everything at the beginning and then you just watch them make it in front of you! The food is simple and delicious and I've been here about 3 times. Each time I've ordered the backyard steak hot plate with butter lettuce salad on the side with mashed potatoes. Everything is perfect. I'm not usually into medium rare steak but for some reason, I'm okay with it when it comes to tender greens. The mashed potatoes are so creamy and smooth that sometimes I forget I have other food on my plate and just eat that. Extra sides are a little more expensive at about $5 each but the roasted corn is worth it because they give you a generous portion! Service is promising as well. Everyone greets you with a smile and are very attentive. Whenever you look confused or don't know what to do, they will just come up to you and ask if you need any assistance. A+ on service! Tender Greens will validate your parking if you park in the structure. But if you park on the streets, beware of the signs! I ordered the plate with salmon, brussel sprouts, and arugula salad. Absolutely one of my favorite eateries in Pasadena! It's a little expensive but the quality is worth it. I was a little confused at how to order, but with the help of a friend, I was able to try the backyard steak with the Caesar salad and the Yukon potatoes and me madre tried the albacore sandwich with the same sides! Both of them were darn good! I was a little worried about the steak because it was quite bloody, but man oh man...it was perfectly cooked and seasoned with the right amount of chewiness. The Caesar salad was a little bit too salty. Next time I'll ask for dressing on the side or for them to take it easy on the sauce. And the potatoes? Perfectly creamy and smooth it practically melts in your mouth! And the slice of baguette that comes with it? It's so over the top, you might have to wait a few hours to consume the bread. My solution? Take it home for a snack. The albacore sandwich was really good, although I wish it had a side of sweet, lemony sauce to come along with it! I felt like something was lacking, but that's only because I'm so used to eating the delicious side of ponzu sauce with my tuna at lemonade. But if I were to compare the quality? It's not even comparable. The quality at tender greens is high, and for the price of what you're getting? It's worth it! Came to pick up dinner around 6:30. My sister and I were kind of short on time so we picked this place because it seemed like a quick option and she wanted salad. We ordered at the first counter and then proceeded to wait in line for about 10 minutes to pay. It seemed very chaotic and disorganized behind the counter, about 10 workers. The line cooks seemed to be working at a slow pace, almost looked like they were being trained. There were some disgruntled customers at the counter asking about their food, some of them said they were waiting for over 30 minutes. We ordered the salmon rice bowl and one of their current specials, Tuscan salad. We were told that there was a 5 min wait for salmon because they cook it fresh. Maybe that's why there was a wait for the people before us, looked like a bunch of people ordered salmon at once. Luckily we waited only about 5 more min after we paid. The cashier was very friendly and seemed to be handling the busy time well. I was skeptical about the food after we brought it home given the wait time but it was actually pretty good and fresh tasting. The portions were smaller than I expected given the prices. Overall, a bit pricey and can be kind of a long wait for salads but the food is pretty good once you get it. read more

And the amount of protein is tiny. They now use wider and shallower containers for things like mash potatoes so it takes up the room in the to go container. It's so stingy. We've been going to this location for years and so far it's been a nice experience. During COVID ordered delivery regularly. I ordered Salmon with sides of brown rice and arugula for pick up. When I got home, which was only took a few minutes, I was dismayed with the brown rice, it smelled and tasted really bad, it was starchy too, which indicated it was not fresh anymore. I called to inform them, so they would not serve it anymore. I spoke to Sam, who was really nice and helpful, he directed me to the manager, who said they put lime juice, it tasted more like vinegar. I actually went back to the branch to give her the brown rice, She didn't even check it and insisted that's how it really taste. After 8 years of going to tender greens, it ALWAYS hits the spot when I don't want to cook but also don't want to feel guilty after eating out. It's so fresh and tasty, it always keeps me coming back. Specially the salmon plate! It was cooked perfectly -- crispy skin, tender, and full of flavor! And the famous mashed potatoes, mmmm my goodness! I could eat them everyday! They're so creamy and fluffy! Finished off with they're refreshing agua frescas. Most of the tables were empty but numbers weren't being handed out for people to be served at tables. Instead there was a mob of people standing by the register. Once my name was called out to pick up my food through the mob of people, the employee asked if we ordered the 2 salt and pepper chicken. No, I ordered the Steak Frites and my mom order a s & p chicken. The receipt was sitting right there on the tray. I had to point it out to her. Complete confusion on her end but it was clear to me what the order was and I don't even work there. She eventually gave me a number to place on my table.
