Very modern interior with cool decorations and interesting brewing devices displayed. Drip coffee was excellent and what you could expect from a high end coffee shop. The croissant I ordered was very dry but tasted fine. I would visit again but just for the coffee. The staff was friendly and the shop was busy. The line is a little confusing on where it starts- it does not start by the pastry case! Definitely will give you downtown Davis vibes and is a cute place to get some early morning email review and replies completed. read more

So I'm going to start off saying I don't like coffee. If you're a coffee drinker, this may not help, but if you're like me, I can promise you this place has many good drinks that aren't coffee! One of my recent favorites has been the Mexican hot chocolate. It's not necessarily authentic, but I feel like with this place you don't really expect it to be when you order it. At the same time, it's really, REALLY good. I also really like the enlightenment tea, it's nice when you're sitting there with other people. It's a bit pricey for coffee/drinks, but it's worth it to check out every so often! read more

Temple Coffee - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Davis, California

Coffee: Outstanding! Delicious and flavorful with a great aroma. Pour over is alway great and I love their selection and description of all the different coffee tasting notes. Silky lattes with perfect, never burnt espresso. Their teas are great too. Service: Always friendly (almost too friendly sometimes) and full of coffee knowledge. Don't expect it to be quick- good coffee takes time. Ambiance: A little sterile and modern- this isn't your cozy coffee shop but I love it anyway. Great place to get some work done. read more

Hello dear fellow coffee lovers. I am loving my first weekend in Davis... what a cool town! Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Temple Coffee Roasters. Although the service was friendly enough, there was no way to get a single shot drink. So prepare for a double no matter what! There is also no way to do a long pour or short pour, as everything is automated by machines. When I got my latte with vanilla, it also was not hot. So I took it back to the counter and asked for a bit more hot milk. They insisted on making a whole new drink, and when I got the second drink, it still was not hot! Im not talking sorta hot... Im talking barely warm! And this second one had no vanilla, as I had ordered. I just could not go back a third time and ask them to re-do it again. Too much animation... not enough barrista skills! Feels corporate to me! read more

I stopped in for a vanilla latte and it was delicious! They have everything nicely spaced out six feet and ask that you sanitize your hands when you enter. Knocking off a star because it did seem overpriced -- $6.50 for a latte and $4 for a croissant. Overall would recommend! read more

Just discovered the Enlightenment Tea and am so happy that I did. It's light and delicious! It is green tea with soy milk and honey -- so good! The staff is friendly and it's usually busy but still worth checking out. I'd suggest trying the Mexican mocha or enlightenment tea. My husband has ordered the iced coffee and didn't enjoy it, so I try to stay clear of that one. read more

Very hipster and their vibe is great. 4 stars. 1. Not as great for studying as you would think. Their tables are skinny and their stools are an uncomfortable height that make your neck/back hurt after a while. But don't let that stop you from pulling out your device and getting down to some major work while you sip your divine caffeine. 2. Coffee was a big hit or a disappointing miss. I took my coffee aficionado friend here, and she was really excited. Her love of coffee extended to the point that she took courses on coffee making and enjoyment. Unfortunately her excitement was dulled by the fact that her coffee was burnt, and though I couldn't tell as she could, she explained to me that her coffee grinds were too fine for the roasters (which is a common problem when you mass produce coffee quickly for a booming business). This was, however, in the early stages of Temple's entry into Davis. To be honest in my perspective though, my latte was freaking fantastic. 3. The ambience is wonderful for coffee lovers and I liked taking my family here. The cold brew and pour over is lovely and mellow. The coffee beans that you can buy are also high quality. Their business ethics is ideal for the cafe fair trade culture. read more

Coffee and snacks are nice and of good quality. Cost is on the expensive side so only 4 stars from me.

Favorite coffee shop in the area, always good ambiance for studying or hanging out, customer service is great, coffee is amazing and love the vegan pastries ! Highly recommend read more

Best coffee shop in Davis!! I'm so serious every time I come here to study I end up getting As on my test. The enlightenment is my favorite drink. Love this place!! read more

Best coffee is Davis imo. Staff is always really kind and they don't play, they'll make the shit out of your drink. Usually get an iced vanilla latte here even though I feel awkward getting one (don't know why, maybe I'm weird). It's the best latte I've had in Cali. Bold words I know.. Sometimes I'll pick up some whole beans to take home. Flavors are unique and worth the try. read more

I really, really like Temple's mochas and iced tea selection, so you can bet your buns I'll be checking them out if there is a location near me. I recently joined in on a casual lunch meeting at the Temple Coffee in Davis and was less impressed than I have been with its sister locations in Sacramento. For starters, it was incredibly crowded. This was mid morning on a Friday and I have been to every Temple multiple times, so I have a good idea of their usual rush times. This location was more crowded than most, but perhaps it was due to the graduation celebrations all over town. I didn't like the layout as much either - not as many private places to sit and work on your laptop and more long narrow tables. Putting aside the aesthetics, the drinks were just as tasty as usual and the dude at the register very friendly. A final warning that I include with all Temple Coffee reviews: parking sucks. All Temple locations are unfortunately in dense urban areas where it's very hard to find a spot, and none more so than Davis. Hoof it or ride a bike if you can. read more

Having long been a fan of the Temple in Midtown Sacramento, I was HEARTBROKEN to learn I would not be in Davis to welcome Temple to my small, cow-ridden, humble, endearing, charming, WONDERFUL college town (oh Davis, how I miss you...). The Korean Cooking Mama and I embarked to this location Sunday morning -- I, with nerve-racking anticipation of being reunited with my beloved, utterly unavailable in Modesto yet so wanted from afar BLISS TEA. The Temple location in Davis can best be described as "modern" and "clean" -- albeit, perhaps a little too sterile (think *hipster* meets corporate America...?). One of the reasons I LOVE Temple in Midtown SO MUCH is the rustic, cottage-y charm of the little coffee shop (basic girl that I am) -- coming to the one in Davis felt a LITTLE (but only a LITTLE -- I swear!!) like...watching Cinderella 2 and 3 (or any uncomfortable, trying-too-hard-to-still-be-relevant, money-hungry Disney sequel) after YEARS of faithfully watching and LOVING the original Cinderella from the ages of 5-10. Moreover, as expected, it was OVER RUN with college students (...like Mishka-hype kind of crowded) -- but *admittedly*, seeing DAVIS college students warmed my bitter, "rage against the corporate man" heart that morning (unlike BLEEKERS in Berkeley -- yes, my BIAS is out of CONTROL). AHH and YET, any hesitations I had about Temple in Davis were instantly dissipated by one sip of my bliss tea, TRULY the perfect creamy, delicious concoction of peppermint + soy milk + coconut milk + honey I remembered. We ordered two servings and the "barista" (DO PEOPLE STILL SAY BARISTA???) very kindly helped me carry the tea pots to a little table outside. Overall, I enjoyed my time spent sipping tea and talking to my DEAR KOREAN friend (shout out to the best COOK in town). OH AND ALSO -- shout out to my COLLEGE town for transforming itself from a "middle-of-nowhere" college campus to a "slightly-cooler-almost hipster-we-have-some-things-to-do-now-take-that-Berkeley" town!!! Honestly crying because I want to come back. read more

I am meeting my daughter for lunch on a Friday at one. It is 12:30 and I am backed up onto the freeway waiting to make my way off the Richard's Boulevard exit, under the railroad tracks and onto E Street. Ten minutes later, I have finally made it to the other side of the tracks and turn onto 1st Street which curves and turns into G Street. Traffic is still heavy and I have not seen any open parking spaces. I see a parking lot on my right and turn into it. I don't find any parking and eventually exit onto H Street where I am stopped behind a line of cars waiting for the train to pass. 12:55, I am finally able to turn left onto Third Street and immediately see a parking place. I am not sure if it is an apparition. Maybe there is something wrong with it? A nice, big, beautiful parking place! I am only a half block from my destination. I quickly walk the half block to ZumaPoke and Lush Ice and; closed? It is closed. I just drove from Elk Grove to meet my daughter for lunch and they are closed. A few minutes later my daughter calls to tell me she missed her exit and is lost. Ok! This is going well! What to do? I decide to go next door to Temple Coffee to chill for a couple of minutes. I walk in and find a sample pot of Popua New Guinea coffee with small ceramic cups for tasting while you wait in line. No kidding; no cheap paper cups here. What a really nice added touch of class! The Popua was pretty good, actually really good, actually, good enough to order a coffee press of it. The girl behind the counter is very friendly and helpful. She even helps me carry my press, two cups so I can share it with my daughter, a cup of water, and the timer so I know when the coffee is ready. We take them outside to a nice sidewalk table under the trees. Life suddenly becomes calm. I begin to enjoy this amazing press of coffee and before long my daughter joins me and we relax while finishing off the press and making a new plan. Life is good! I love this place. It has become my favorite Temple Coffee. read more

Good coffee. Chill vibe. A little too hipsterish, but it's a coffee shop; I think the definition of hipster is craft coffee (haha). First time I came here, I had the single origin espresso that they were serving. It was, "meh." I expected something a little on the wild side with deep complexity from a single origin. It was good, but not worth the extra dough. I came in pretty late, so I think the grinder probably hadn't been dialed in for a while (the barista fiddled with it for a bit); perhaps if the grinder had been kept dialed in, the shot would've turned out better. The second time I came here, I decided on the standard espresso blend, and it was fantastic. It helps when a specific bean is being prepared consistently so the barista can keep things tight, and all those lattes, mochas, etc. keep things flowing. read more

Today was my first visit at this cafe! I tried once before but it was really crowded so I gave up. So let me start this review by saying that it's pretty small. And the downside of that was the noise level, it was too noisy for me and I can hear ppl giving/taking order etc. I guess it's okay if you have your earphone on. Also there no electrical outlets( or at least not that I can find) just FYI. Food wise, I got the cold brew, all I can say is that I like the whole foods cold brew better~~ a lot better.... Maybe my expectation of this place was too high as I've been told that this is the new hip place to study.... lol read more

Good coffee, friendly service but dang it's expensive! I had to stop in for the delicious Bliss tea and bring one for my coworker to try. $5 each, I don't know that this should be a habit. Plus hard to get to being that it's in the middle of downtown Davis, especially during lunch time. Parking is hard to find and I don't live or work in Davis so biking isn't really an option. read more

Of course, and I just found the coffee beans at my Food Co-op. I like the atmosphere with the plants and the artwork too.

Lovely atmosphere and staff. Only dislike is the concept of limited WiFi usage considering high price of coffee.

Pros: the food and drinks are high quality, as expected. Jasmine green tea is great! Cons The internet is on and off sometimes, which is a bit annoying. There are no outlets too, which is inconvenient; make sure that your electronic devices are fully charged! But the biggest thing is that, when I got my blueberry muffin, the cashier grabbed a muffin that a fly landed on. That's because the pastry box isn't closed and is left open so flies can come in. Please, keep that thing closed somehow! read more

Ambience and "coolness" are all the rage and Temple delivers on both fronts. Their coffee is good, albeit overpriced. It's a testament to the popularity of this place that it is seemingly always busy, no matter the hour or the day. Staff is hip and trendy. read more

I just thank God that I, as a member of the pretentious coffee set, finally have an opportunity to really lord it over all of my Starbucks and Peetes loving friends. I can be in peace here as a member of the glitterati of Davis as they come in and get their craft brewed espressos and teas. I particularly love the fact that no prices are displayed - it's made clear that if you have to ask what the price is - you clearly can't afford it. read more

Walked in for the first time and was pleasantly greeted. The barrista is a mind reader or I look like a vanilla latte kind of girl because she knew what I was planning on ordering. So happy I did too. With the first sip of this drink I could taste the quality of the coffee beans used. Highly recommend. Also I tried the gluten free blueberry muffin. It was moist enough and full of blueberries. The shop is very clean and of course green given we're in Davis. Thumbs up Cost me a little over $10 but worth it. read more

Love this location! Conveniently on a corner of G in downtown Davis :) Temple gets me every time with their Enlightenment. They have yet to fail me with their espressos and mochas too. Awesome spot to get some work done with some atheistically pleasing interior and chill vibes. I've had great experiences in all the Temple's I have visited, this one is up to par with the rest of the locations. Temple definitely gives all of the other coffee shops in Davis some competition. If you've tried Temple, you would know why. If you haven't, you must!! TIP: UTILIZE THAT FREE WIFI! read more

The "new" hip place to study in downtown Davis. They have a variety of unique coffees, teas and pastries. It's spacious, clean, and has lots of seating indoors and outdoors. I tried the "Enlightenment" - soy milk steamed with honey and poured over green tea leaves. Its served in a pot and you let it steep for a while before pouring out this latte like creation. It smelled amazing and was quite delicious. The pot had about 2.5 small cups (10-12 oz total). My sister ordered the Mexican mocha and she said it was okay. They are known for drip coffees and cold brews, and they do spend time and effort making the drinks to ensure quality. Some negatives: it can be kind of loud so it's not the best place to study, there are no outlets, and there is only one restroom. Also I foresee this place becoming very crowded as the school year starts and progresses. Despite this, with the lighting, hip music and spacious environment, and quality drinks, I will probably frequent here often during my last year in Davis. read more

The interior at Temple is beautiful. I love the efficient use of space with the long wooden table in the middle. The touch of green on the table just brightens your mood and is perfect for photography (more like Instagram lmao). The large window makes the room breathable and romantic at night as you work your day away and finally get to look out to night lights on a busier Davis street. With that said, what's up with the Buddha statue near the trash can tho? [insert WTF emoji here] The FREE Wifi here is darn fast. It passed my Netflix and HD YouTube videos test. However, there are too many reasons why this place is not an ideal place for studying. First and foremost, no outlets. NO OUTLETS. That means if you plan to stay long let's hope your laptop is fully charged and doesn't die easily. Secondly, oh my goodness the price. The many times I came here, I never spent under $5. Even if I had not gone to somewhere like Pachamama where the drinks are generously cheap and absolutely delicious, I would still think $6 for a vanilla soy latte is ridiculous. And boy is it even more expensive for us lactose intolerant folks. 75 cents charge for soy milk and 95 cents for almond milk. Why am I being punished for not taking a little calf's sustenance?? AIYA. If you have a sweet tooth like me, I would recommend getting the vanilla latte, the mocha, and the Enlightenment tea. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a coffee snob so I don't know the lingo like how it's brewed or the coffee beans source and the like. Also, this is not Starbucks ok so when I say sweet I don't mean that these drinks will make you predisposed to diabetes upon first sip. The latte and the mocha just have this light subtle sweetness and a tint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Also, I recommend the mocha iced. I think these drinks have high quality but it's pretty one-note after a long time. My favorite drink is the Enlightenment tea which is basically milk tea that comes in a teapot. There's an interesting lavender aroma that accompanies the tea, making it the most memorable one I have had. If I have to get anything again, it would be the Enlightenment tea because it is also the cheapest. One other tiny detail that bothers me is that there's only one unisex bathroom. Well, it doesn't help that coffee makes you poop in this case does it? It's best to come here on a casual coffee run, most appropriate on a TREAT YOSELF day. It got a great ambience for you to come in your best trendy outfit and have a relaxing time with a good friend. The long tables are not wide so it feels intimate sitting there and talking. There are outside seatings so you can enjoy your refreshment on a breezy autumn day and maybe take your dog along too! read more

Not impressed. Sure it's beautiful, but operationally it's a disappointing disaster on a scale that confounds the imagination. The line moves so slow and without a menu it's just a complete mess. The coolest place in town to get coffee - however, if you're looking for WiFi and an outlet, this ain't the place for you. All the drinks are fantastic, I recommended the ice matcha latte, and the Mexican hot chocolate. I even got some guatemalan beens for my co-workers. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the late hours here!!!! The crowd isn't as scary as the sac locations so I finally tried this place out. Philz down the street overall has better coffee, though that can definitely be debated by coffee purists, but at least they have some outlets and WiFi that sorta works. :) read more

I've lived in Davis for exactly a week and this is my first time here. I love it! When I walked in I thought it would be way too hip for me, but the people behind the counter are incredibly nice. Single cup drip, hipster coffee for $5.25. Oy..... I feel like I WAY overpaid for this cup of coffee. Service was excellent and I love how bright this place was. All the tables are bench style, so it's great for working or studying, but not so much for mingling. The coffee was just ok, and it felt overpriced to me. I understand single cup drips tend to cost more, but this was too much for being in a college town. read more

When I first walked in to this place with my girlfriend, I was extremely intimidated. Everything looked so new, and the menu was complicated to my unexperienced eyes. Luckily, the person behind the counter helped elucidate everything. The workers are extremely helpful, friendly, and understanding. They helped figure out what we wanted in the end (Me a Vanilla Latte and my girlfriend a Chai Latte). This place is much more expensive than your average grab and go coffee place, but for the atmosphere, presentation of your drink, and the flavor, it is so worth it. There was so much depth in flavor with the drinks that we had. The wifi is extremely fast (great for my homework and studying), and the music was on point. Overall, great coffee place in Davis. If you want to just get caffeinated, go somewhere else. If you want more, come here. Simple as that. Great job Temple I am definitely coming back. read more

I initially said I didn't really enjoy their pastries, but the other day, I tried a lemon lavender muffin and it was to die for! Positives: The tea and coffee are really good. Brand new interior. Not so positives: Super long line. I watched several people walk in then walk out. The barista asked for my order and I continued to wait in line, when I reached the cashier she asked for my order then made it. Really confusing. Why didn't the barista make it? Also, there is no menu at the cashier. There is one at the beginning of the line but that was at least 20 minutes ago. I know these things might seem trivial, but you don't see these lines at Miskha's and there is a clear menu at the cashier. And the fly's are abundant. Overall: Great potential and good product. Seems like there are some kinks to work out. read more
