I found out there's also a Temple Roasted Coffee in Davis and decided to stop by for a latte and an onion croissant with bacon. The staff was very friendly, the coffee was great, and the croissant was delicious. The atmosphere is also really nice. Since it's located on a university campus, there are a lot of busy students around, but it doesn't take away from the experience at all, you can still relax and enjoy your coffee and food. Visited Temple Coffee Roasters today, while I was in the area walking around. Truth be told, I gave up caffeine for the past three weeks. I won't go into the reasons why, but I wound up forgetting to order my coffee decaffeinated. I wound up ordering a Mexican mocha with almond milk and light whip. I also ordered a veggie scone. Both the barista and the person working the counter were friendly and nice. I LOVED the Mexican mocha. It wasn't too sweet (which I was worried about), didn't need sugar, but was delicious. It had a nice mix of the robust coffee flavor and the richness of the Mexican chocolate. The scone was good. I liked the mix of veggies and cheese. I think it would have been better if it were heated. This cafe is somewhat small. While there is a good amount of seating, it gets pretty packed in here. I'd say my biggest con of this cafe if you're drinking your coffee there are the seats and the lack of electrical outlets to charge your computer. The bar stools are pretty uncomfortable. I really could only sit the stool for about an hour. Since the stools didn't have a backrest, I started getting sore. I'd definitely get coffee here again. read more

I was visiting Davis and craving matcha, so I stopped by and ordered the Cloudy With a Chance of Matcha, from what looked like their seasonal menu. It was sooo good, 10/10! The original recipe does contain dairy/heavy cream, but they were able to make it with a non-dairy coconut option instead, which was great! It was very busy but the line went pretty fast. The drinks themselves are worth 5 stars, by far the best and smoothest coffee i've ever had. Their dharma espresso is to die for. Only reason i'm giving 4 stars is because of two reasons: 1.) the hospitality of the staff could use some work. 2.) there is a serious design flaw in the way they take orders. They don't write down your order or punch it in anywhere, they just go by ear and make it right then and there, but that can turn into a game of telephone, especially since it's always so loud in there from people and the music they blast. One time a barista swore I told her something different even though I clarified it with her beforehand and she still got it wrong. She made it seem like I misspoke when I knew for a fact what I said because when she repeated it back to clarify, I corrected her. I didn't like being made to feel like i inconvenienced her because she made my drink wrong and so I told her that I even clarified it and she basically told me "we don't have to be here all day" and that she'll just remake it, which was extremely passive aggressive. Other than that single bad experience, every-time I go in I just make sure to speak very slowly, clearly, and loudly in a barista friendly way to ensure that they get my drink right (i used to be a barista at starbucks myself.) Most of the staff is very friendly overall. Another irk of mine though is the wastefulness. When they made my drink wrong before, the cashier asked if i had a friend or someone to give the incorrect drink to and the barista told them no we have to throw it away. I feel like that's pretty wasteful and incorrectly made drinks should be given out for free or at least to a staff member. But this is corporate america so yk... we'd rather waste food than give it away for free. read more

Wow, what an awesome coffee shop to stumble upon during our roadtrip! It was packed, but the workers were quick to take orders. I tried the matcha latte and I appreciate being asked if I'd like sweeter or not. The matcha itself was the perfect amount of bitterness and not diluted. I've a bit bothered about how there was a mad rush when I ordered my coffee today, and how my coffee could have been accidentally contaminated. There was too much visual mental stimuli during the mad rush in-line today, and what troubles me is the fact that a barista used a rag to wipe a counter, under a coffee cup that they picked up (for somebody else's hot coffee), but they did not also move mine. My iced coffee was still sitting and didn't get moved or picked up, unlike the other cup, before the employee wiped the counter. I'm troubled that something could have dripped into my coffee from the rag, because the drink had not been given to me yet. I chose to order an Iced Enlightenment. I've had this before hot but the barista said it would taste different iced, which is true. The Jasmine is more prominent while the honey is subtle. It was mildly sweet and not as creamy. Though I don't drink coffee, their other beverages seem well-regarded. Temple Coffee Roasters has multiple locations throughout Sacramento, their Davis spot is on the corner of G street. Free street parking is around the area. The barista's regularly have attitude. It must be apart of the brand culture but I've talked to multiple customers and heard multiple stories of the barista's superiority complex. I had a regular drink there for a while just to order it again and be told it never existed... I'm not sure why gaslighting would be helpful in that situation but it must be a need to be superior. Multiple stories have all pointed back to the same theme of barista's needing to be right .. it's not that serious but maybe the work conditions are toxic and they need this. I used to really love this place, and used to really love the coffee too. Unfortunately, the espresso was way too floral for my taste, and the coffee prices have gone way way way up. It wasn't the cleanest when we went, and it was about 15 minutes before closing and the person working had just finished cleaning the bathrooms and didn't let us use the bathrooms even after we had just purchased three coffee drinks and a pastry. That was super annoying.Management, please make sure you tell your employees that if the establishment is open and people have bought things they should be able to use the bathroom, regardless of whether the employee just cleaned it.
