I visited this restaurant in the Bishop Arts District that sets up a weekend vintage clothing festival right out front on the corner. Inside, the food felt authentic and tasty with solid tacos, savory salsas and dishes. I appreciated the reasonable prices and the festive atmosphere made for a memorable meal. Service was friendly and attentive even when things got a bit busy with festival crowds. Overall the vibe is fun and you get to shop local vintage and enjoy flavorful Mexican food all in one area. I'd go back.

We tried the 6 mini chicken tacos, and they were good! They came with three different sauces, and the queso was definitely my favorite, rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The complimentary salsa and other sauces were also solid and added a nice variety to the meal. Tejas has a more upscale vibe compared to your average Mexican spot. The decor is stylish and modern, and the atmosphere is elevated without feeling stuffy. The music added to the overall experience, great playlist that matched the energy of the place. Service was quick around 3 PM.

We dropped into this place after a birthday outing. It was so colorful and loud (in a good way), the servers were attentive and matched our humor and energy. We were already impressed with the service and drinks but when the food arrived we were officially fans. The flavors and creativity of the dishes left our table silent for the first time all night. Forks on plates and the occasional, "THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD" filled the air.

My partner and I ventured to Bishop arts to switch up our date night and stopped by Tejas for a snack. I wish I remember our waiters name because he was phenomenal!we ordered the queso blanco & it was delicious! We also ordered a taco each. I ordered their chicken taco & he ordered a brisket one and to be honest I make better tacos than what I was served there. I did however order a margarita and it was amazing! So, my recommendation is that you get something aside from the chicken taco & you'll be good to go!

This place is great! We sat outside and I had the mini tacos - so fun! I love their tall glasses and their mocktails were delicious. It's a great area and fun to watch the stuff going on on the streets - however, the place next door has the loudest music ever and then this place plays music too and there's just a ton of noise around here that makes it a little hard to keep a conversation going. Everyone loved their food here though and the queso is especially great.

Stopped for a late night bite. Enjoyed a few different types of tacos at this comfortable attractive Mexican food restaurant. I ordered a single Vegetarian Taco, mild but tasty. The rest of the party ordered a 12 taco bite size plate. They enjoyed the little mini tacos. The other tacos were flavorful as well. We had 6 people at our table and everyone was satisfied with their order. The drinks were fun and yummy. Decor was pleasant and comfortable and the service was friendly and prompt.

What a surprisingly good spot for food and drinks! We accidentally made a reservation for 8pm and arrived a few hours early, but thank goodness it was not a challenge for them as they were able to slot us right in to a nice table out on the patio. We ordered the ceviche, a taco salad, and a few rounds of drinks, which were really good. We'll definitely be back

Craving Tex-Mex after spending a day of shopping in the Bishop Arts District?? Step into Tejas Tex-Mex for mouthwatering tex-mex entrees and great beverages. The inside of Tejas has a beautiful aesthetic with pretty decor and plants. Tejas also has a relaxing and pretty patio with murals on the side of the building to look at. I ordered the vibrant and fresh taco salad along with a side of delicious elote off the cob. My friend ordered the sizzling fajitas and really enjoyed them! We sat on the patio while enjoying our meal. Tejas has a wonderful happy hour menu with good cocktails. Make sure to add Tejas to your Dallas food list!

Came in on a Saturday with a friend and it was quite busy! Ended up sharing an appetizer but came for the drinks! Customer service was fast and it was very lively. Great location near all the stores and bars. Want to come back and try some entrees!

I came to Tejas at the insistence of my brother and his girlfriend, who live in the building directly above it. By brother, a Yelp Elite member himself, confirmed to me that "this is a solid four star establishment, but I think you'll like it." The pretentiousness of that statement aside, I mentally prepared myself for a solid four star experience. Upon entrance we were greeted with a free appetizer (complimentary of living in the building next door) and a server who was quick, charismatic, and highly attentive. So far not 4 star, but there was still room for them to fall. The food came out quickly (another 5 star indicator) and, upon tasting it, was great. More five stars. My brother, increasingly anxious at the exceptional culinary experience unfolding in front of him, began to mumble about a "wholly changed experience" and "the possibility of new management." Afterwards the check arrived quickly, and our party shuffled out full of good Mexican food and a healthy amount of shame.

What's fun and trendy place with really good food and on-point service. I had the brisket breakfast taco (a good value for $6) and my husband had the brisket enchiladas and a potato, bacon and egg breakfast taco. All of the food was well executed and full of taste without being heavy.

Cool spot to dip into for bites and bevs. The house chips and salsa was interesting. The chips come with a chipotle/southwest spice on them. Not bad, just different. I ordered the mini tacos. The beef tacos were flavorful and packed a punch.

Only came for drinks and I was very disappointed in the flavor. 2 of us got lavender mojitos-- this tasted nothing like a mojito and not even a hint of lavender. The only nice thing was that they had pouches to take your drink to go. Would not come back for drinks however.

Here in Texas, chips and salsa are such a commonplace experience it's off-putting to pay for them. We ordered the guacamole and the chips and salsa come with it, so that was, I guess, better...but the guacamole was $16, so there's that. The salsa was tasty as was the guacamole, but again, for the portion it's really not worth it. We had the queso flameado, which was yummy and the flour tortillas are good! We split the sirloin and were underwhelmed. For a grilled meats place the steak was very under seasoned and wasn't giving us fresh hot grilled vibes. Meh at best, as were the rice and beans. We ordered elote as a side and it was really the best thing we ate. Service was friendly and efficient! Cocktails average $16ish. Again, for the prices we expected better.

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. We cannot wait to come back and try more of the menu.

That visit checked every box -- the food, service, ambiance, and overall hospitality were all exceptional. What really stood out to me then was the attention to detail. I had casually mentioned that one of my cocktails wasn't quite my taste, and Harry personally reached out afterward to say they'd gladly adjust it next time. That kind of thoughtful follow-up leaves a lasting impression and is exactly the sort of hospitality that elevates a restaurant experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit felt like a completely different restaurant. We decided to do a combination of à la carte dishes along with the Experience menu after being told this version would feature entirely off-menu items, which genuinely intrigued us since Ihad also done the Experience previously. At the start of dinner, we were asked about allergies and dietary restrictions. I clearly explained that I have a mango allergy and do not eat beef. Our server then asked whether I ate other meats, and I clarified yes -- and even specifically mentioned that if the machete dish was beef, please still include it because my friend could enjoy it and I really wanted her to try it. He confirmed it would be the sirloin version, so we happily agreed not to modify that course. So imagine our surprise when one of the first dishes arrived dressed with a mango vinaigrette. Thankfully, we barely caught him quietly mentioning "mango" as he set it down. We immediately looked at each other thinking, "Didn't we just discuss the allergy?" It was disappointing, but unfortunately also representative of the overall service throughout the evening. Our server seemed disengaged, inattentive, and often not fully listening. Empty glasses sat untouched, opportunities to order additional items were missed, and at one point we were simply handed the check without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We also ordered a bottle of sparkling wine and ended up pouring it ourselves for most of the evening because our glasses were rarely refilled. I completely understand not leaving the bottle tableside if walkway space is limited, but repeatedly needing to get up ourselves to retrieve it felt out of sync with the level of service one expects from a Michelin-recommended restaurant -- especially at this price point. Then came the machete dish. Instead of the sirloin version we specifically discussed, we received the vegetarian potato version. When the server asked how it looked, I politely explained that we were disappointed because he had specifically told us it would be the sirloin preparation. At minimum, I would have expected another protein substitution given the earlier conversation about what I could eat. I'm also still unclear whether the Experience menu was truly "off-menu" as described, since several dishes -- including the halibut -- appeared familiar. Had that been communicated differently, we likely would have skipped the Experience altogether and simply curated our own meal. At the end of the night, spending over $500 while pouring our own wine, nearly being served an allergen we explicitly disclosed, and receiving dishes different from what was promised made for a deeply disappointing experience -- especially after such a phenomenal first visit. It honestly felt sad more than anything because I know how wonderful this restaurant can be. I'm not sure what changed in the last five months, but the difference was significant.
