This is my second time coming here IN A WEEK (lol) and both times I've enjoyed the food. The first time I had the bacon egg cheese and potatoes taco on flour tortilla and the brisket taco. I also order the queso along with the prickly pear lemonade. Everything was great except the brisket taco. I'm not sure if it was timing as it was the last thing I ate but it wasn't warm anymore. I just took the meat and dumped it in my remaining queso and it tasted great. The second time I tried the smash burger and fries. The burger is small but really good. Fries crispy and delicious! One of the better spots in Bishop Arts District to enjoy a meal and/or a few drinks. Generally pretty busy on the weekends, so I would suggest a dinner reservation unless you want to walk in and get on the waitlist - usually about an hour on busier nights. Most recently went for Cinco de Mayo, and they have a bar outside in the back "alley" - not really an alley, more of a walkway where you can access various restaurants/bars. They were serving some pretty decent frozen margaritas in a bag, which was unique. Pros: - Pretty good food - Large public parking right across the street - Large variety of drinks - Friendly Staff Cons: - Not much seating, which contributes to the long waitlist All in all, I'd say that it's one of my favorite spots in the Bishop Arts District to enjoy some tasty margaritas and enjoy good food. Been here a few times for dinner and it's somewhere I keep doming back to- the food, drinks, and vibes are all great, and they recently just extended their patio with an outside bar and it's super cute! For dinner we had the chicken enchiladas & chicken fajitas, the enchiladas were surprisingly some of the best I've ever had so don't skip on those, also they have free chips & salsa which it seems like most upscale Mexican places charge for nowadays, so that was nice. We were delightfully surprised by this new addition in Oak Cliff! The environment was hip and simple. The menu was concise, but offered unique and classic options. I like the wide range of bottled drink options along side of the "Oak Cliff" local fountain sodas. Everything we ordered was pretty awesome which came as a huge surprise considering the cost. I finally tried this place after seeing everyone post about it and as I'm writing this I am wishing I had more of their yummy tacos in front of me. Their restaurant was bright and clean (so much natural light!) The service was friendly and attentive and most importantly I enjoyed their tacos. I especially enjoyed their "Cochata" which is their cold brew and Horchata together and it was so delicious. They do breakfast tacos all day so I ordered their chorizo cheese and egg, their Avocado Bacon and Charro plus I had to try their Brisket taco. Everything was tasty.. their brisket was juicy and their chorizo was so yummy.. They are definitely a great addition to the Bishop Arts area. read more

I do not recommend this restaurant. Every time I I attempt to eat at this establishment I am faced with some type of stipulation. So I walk in the place and its not crowded and ask for a table for two. She is like I have a table buuutt can you be done in an hour and half. That is such bull shit !! Then I ask if I wait on next table that I don't have rush and eat our food and do shots! Instead of enjoying a cocktail, how long it will be. She says oh it will be 2 hour wait. I will never go back there again. It's like they tell you how long you have to eat. So once I again I go to Vera Cruz where I don't wait and get excellent service and great cocktails. Vibes and locations are great. A lot of thought went into the decor and ambiance and it is definitely noticed and appreciated. The drinks were pretty good- the higher price point keeps you from trying all the interesting combinations so maybe happy hour would be better for drinks. The food is where the place feel flat for me. The brisket taco was probably my favorite but even still it was just okay. The tacos as a whole were on the more bland side (I tried brisket, pork, and cauliflower). When the wrong tortilla was included for one of my tacos I was just given a new tortilla so I could re-construct the taco myself- that seemed odd. The skinny fajitas had potential but the meat was more charred and had a more burned taste. Maybe happy hour will be a better experience down the road. read more

New to the area and decided to try out Tejas, I wish I had gone sooner! The staff was extremely helpful when making suggestions on what to order. The chips and queso is a must and the prickly pear margarita (although tart) was delicious! I decided on the Steak al Carbon and it a great choice. There are a lot of onions in the taco so beware if you're not a fan. That being said, super great restaurant and highly recommend if you're in town!!! Cute corner spot in Bishop Arts. Greeted right away and seated promptly. We started with queso fundido. Delish! Chips were thick, crunchy, and fresh. For my meal I decided on the breakfast tacos. I choose the bacon and avocado and the brisket, queso and egg. Both were great but I have to say the brisket queso blew me away. We finished our meal with the churros and some coffee. I saw this restaurant under construction about a month ago walking to Paradiso. I made a note to check it out in the future. I'm confused about this place. The website made me to believe that they serve late nights tacos, burgers, an curly fries so I was surprised when I arrived Saturday night an the host asked if we had reservations? No! I planned to quickly order some tacos an curly fries under a window! Nope! We were seated outside an that quickly changed when the Nats started getting annoying. We got our food an sat inside. I ordered the taco plate which comes with 2 tacos. I wanted 1 shrimp an 1 carne asada. The waiter tells me the tacos have to be the same kind! Ughh! We never got water refills, the beans were hard, I asked for Horchata an the server said they didn't have it (even though it was on the MENU!), an they charge $4 for a baby bottle of Mexican coke a cola! The only thing they have going is the decor. I doubt they even have the curly fries that many reviews raved about...It was the worst Mexican food I've ever had an the worst $30 spent this weekend! We stumbled into this place after our favorite taco place, Trompo was closed. But regardless we were in the mood for Mexican. The hostess that greeted us was incredibly cold and rude. We were nervous to see how the rest of the meal turned out. The chips and salas were decent. The Guac & queso were both big portions and fairly decent as well. My frozen marg was sadly underwhelming. The sides were far better than the mains - the elote and beans were two standouts. The chicken and carnitas enchiladas had good flavor but the tortilla was extremely lackluster. The menu is great, with tons of options ranging from Tex-Mex to more traditional Mexican and lots of lighter/healthier choices. I think you can't go wrong.
