So we replaced the thermostat, (which they had kindly advised us to do last Spring but we kept putting it off), but still the A/C wasn't working. Called them, they arrived on time, asked me questions and thoroughly checked everything out. It turns out the HVAC system is doing great -- but they found an indoor leak (*not* caused by the HVAC system) that is getting water on the water-detector "puck" next to the furnace. That puck -- which SH&A put there for me last summer -- is doing it's job by shutting all HVAC things down / alerting me that something is wrong. They restarted the system, advised me on what to ask for when I talk with the contractors (to fix the leak) and showed me photos of the problem. I need to add that John and his colleague both spent time checking out the indoor and outdoor parts of the system. They didn't charge me anything -- likely because of a warranty period from the HVAC install. Honestly, I'm so thankful for a company that doesn't try to upsell me, or use fear tactics to make me buy something extra or take advantage of my lack of knowledge (though I'm learning as I go). SH&A keep it professional -- they focus on the problem and not how to up their profits for the day. They are the gold standard of everything HVAC. If I had a Christmas card list, I would put them on it.

On Monday morning we received a text message that they were on the way and the very nice technician Bo Holtz showed up on time. He was super helpful, immediately diagnosed the problem. Was super communicative and efficient. I know he was likely so busy too given the heatwave but he didn't rush he was through and provided amazing customer service from start to finish. He also suggested their monthly service plan and explained how that worked without seemingly like an upsell or hard sell. Just more a "hey, we have a great service plan if you're interested"...appreciate that. I also asked about an electric issue that we have been having with our clothes dryer and he was helpful pointing us in the right direction for an additional service tech from Aim High for that fix as well. My mother-in-laws air conditioner was not working so I decided to call them for service on her nearly 40 year old system. Tristan came out and I truly expected the old proverbial "well this system is so old it needs to be replaced." To my surprise I didn't get that! When I later scheduled a diagnostic visit for a non-cooling AC unit, the technician misidentified which condenser served which zone of the house and diagnosed a bad capacitor on the wrong unit. I paid a diagnostic fee but was left troubleshooting the actual problem myself after realizing the unit that was diagnosed was not the unit experiencing the issue. Mistakes happen, but the combination of poor follow-through, lack of attention to detail, and ongoing communication issues has left me with very little confidence in the company. I would not recommend them based on my experience.
