So we replaced the thermostat, (which they had kindly advised us to do last Spring but we kept putting it off), but still the A/C wasn't working. Called them, they arrived on time, asked me questions and thoroughly checked everything out. It turns out the HVAC system is doing great -- but they found an indoor leak (*not* caused by the HVAC system) that is getting water on the water-detector "puck" next to the furnace. That puck -- which SH&A put there for me last summer -- is doing it's job by shutting all HVAC things down / alerting me that something is wrong. They restarted the system, advised me on what to ask for when I talk with the contractors (to fix the leak) and showed me photos of the problem. I need to add that John and his colleague both spent time checking out the indoor and outdoor parts of the system. They didn't charge me anything -- likely because of a warranty period from the HVAC install. Honestly, I'm so thankful for a company that doesn't try to upsell me, or use fear tactics to make me buy something extra or take advantage of my lack of knowledge (though I'm learning as I go). SH&A keep it professional -- they focus on the problem and not how to up their profits for the day. They are the gold standard of everything HVAC. If I had a Christmas card list, I would put them on it.

Tristan came out and I truly expected the old proverbial "well this system is so old it needs to be replaced." To my surprise I didn't get that! They were not the cheapest or the most expensive but they have great reviews so we trusted that and the people we spoke with for the estimate. They came out and it took two full days for them to finish the job. They worked 12 hour days and made sure everything was working perfectly before leaving. Every time we had an issue (which were always small things) they came out within an hour or two. When the city inspector came out to give everything the ok, he said that they never have any problems with work done by 888. That was very reassuring. This year we had them come out to replace our other furnace and install another heat pump and smart thermostat. My house needs two furnaces but because of the requirements for tax incentives, we could only replace one per year. Tom, Omar, and Lee worked for two whole days and made sure everything was working perfectly. They made sure to put down drop cloths from the front door all the way to the basement and into the furnace room so they wouldn't track in any snow or dirt. They were conscientious and hard working and cleaned up after themselves nicely. They addressed all of our questions and made sure we were happy before they left. They do still need to get us the frame that goes around our new thermostat but I'm sure that will be done soon.
