I've been using Summit since ~2018 to handle my furnace maintenance. This summer I had them out to do a tuneup on my two A/C units. I mentioned to the tech that the upstairs didn't get quite as cold as I would like; while I suspected some of that could be system/ductwork limitations, he suggested that we could add a little more freon to the system in the event there was a possible slow leak. Ultimately, he ended up adding freon to both the upstairs and main floor unit, and unexpectedly much more to the main floor unit. The price after the fact surprised me, especially given that particular unit had appeared to have been working fine; the tech told me it was possible that unit had a leak. He informed me Summit would schedule a leak investigation if desired, but that it would cost a whopping $1,100, so I declined given the performance on that unit had been fine. Fast forward a week or two, and the main floor is quite hot. The ducts seem to be blowing hot air. At which point it became clear to me the unit has actually stopped functioning. I call Summit, which is busy with appointments and express my dismay that the unit stopped working after the tuneup. They tell me it may be a leak etc., but they will send someone out. I wait for the scheduled appointment and the tech that arrives this time clearly didn't look over the prior notes or photos before arrival. I explain to him the situation, and he was confused about which unit was implicated, and claimed that the prior pressure readings from the earlier tech clearly indicated there was a leak (which was not at all what I was told). He later retracted this statement after realizing what time of day the earlier appointment was and said those pressure readings were normal. He poked around briefly, but without much investigation declared the system to have a leak, and indicated there was an 80% chance of it being non-repairable. He indicated they would have to do the $1,100 search to locate the leak, and if it was in the condenser/evaporative coils it would not be repairable. If it was somewhere else in the line, it could be, but then they would possibly have to tear into my walls, etc. to identify the issue. When I asked how much a new unit would be, he gave me a rough quote of $15,000, but told me that they would have to look at specs to price out more specifically. I asked him to do so, given I wanted to know what I was looking at, and he appeared inconvenienced by the request and said it would take him an hour. (It did not.) During that process, the tech told me my ductwork was not sufficient and I would need to downsize my unit, and that the smaller size wouldn't be enough to cool the floor. He suggested my unit may have broken because I keep the basement vents closed, but then he also claimed these A/C units only last about ten years. The whole visit felt performative, and ultimately was much more focused on theoretical salesmanship than anything diagnostic. I was left pretty frustrated. I called out a different repair company recommended by a friend, and within 5 minutes he had identified the leak and the location in the coil. Contrary to what I was told by Summit, this company informed me the coil could be replaced and that I had many more years of life left in the unit. Within the week, I got the whole thing repaired and refilled for ~$1,200--not much more than the cost of a Summit "leak search." While I've had positive and knowledgeable techs with Summit, this whole experience was such a breach of trust that I will not be using them again. I had another company inspect my furnaces this fall for a fraction of the cost, and I will not be looking back. read more

We had an issue with our furnace recently and called three companies to come give us estimates for repair. Two came back with extremely high quotes and wanted to replace several major components of newish system. Shane came out and did a thorough diagnostic walking me thru each component and explaining what was working and what was not. At the end of the day he replaced a faulty sensor and we are back in business. I won't go so far as to say the other companies were trying to rip me off but I think they would have unnecessarily replaced some components that were working fine. read more

Excellent service from sales to install. I am going all-in on electric and heat pumps, and am interested in mini-split systems as well as using the new Denver climate action rebates. The mini-split solutions are flexible but complex, with a wide variety of configurations to support heating and cooling different zones, but Jeremy was interested and engaged (so many firms just want to replace your natural gas furnace and traditional AC). He came up with clever ideas that I hadn't thought of, and was open to listening to my ideas to come up with a solution. I was sold! When it came time to install it took only a day and the electrician, Eloy, did a great job sorting out our panel and working with me to find the most unobtrusive route for the new power lines. Vincent and Frank were professional installing the unit--they were neat and had everything wrapped up by 5:00. After that Casi and Deanna in the home office took care of registering my warranty with the manufacturer, filling out the forms for the rebates with Xcel and the city, and scheduling my inspection. All along the way everyone was communicative and receptive to my input and the price was the best I found to boot. Great job! read more

Summit came out on a very hot weekend for an emergency repair and got the AC for our business back to a cool temperature quickly. Their tech Jason was great, professional, honest, and thorough. He pulled the failing parts & even showed the capacitance with the multimeter to demonstrate they had gone bad. My only complaint was that when we booked the appointment it was not disclosed that there was an additional fee for a repair because it was for a business. That said, it wasn't an easy repair (the AC unit is in the ceiling 30' up) and they did a great job. read more

Called and set an appointment with them. 15 minutes before they are supposed to arrive, they call my husband (who was on another call) and leave a message saying they won't be coming. No explanation given or call back to reschedule. We both tried calling the number they called from as well as the business number in the email confirmation (which were different numbers) and neither one went through. STAY AWAY. Now we have to find someone else to do the work, and our toilet remains unusable. Update- the owner called to explain that the call was just to say that they were going to be late. However, the message that was left by the receptionist was that the plumber was UNABLE TO COME DUE TO AN ISSUE. The owner then tried to blame us for a miscommunication. He also explained that their phone system was down, yet my husband and I both tried to call within minutes of receiving their message (so it was working then). The owner seemed more concerned about my Yelp review and ended the call with telling me he was going to work with Yelp to get the review removed. Great customer service, and likely why they have so many positive reviews. Apparently the honest ones get taken down. read more

Got an AC with them. Things did not go well with them from the start. Started with a 3 hour information on AC, the sales guy just wouldn't leave. After installed took them so long to email me a inspection certificate it was already October(AC was installed earlier in summer). Then covid happened. Finally got AC inspected. Recently noticed that the U shaped drain pipe leaked. Called them on a weekend, backup support took the information and never called back. Called them a week later and they said they will have to come over for $99 diagnostic fee? I told them it's a simple case of drainage pipe work not done right. They won't stand by their work and said sorry there is no way around this fee. Then gave me an incorrect email address that gave a failed email notification. Your message wasn't delivered to inquiries@summitco.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail. Precision maybe expensive but my husband used them for his property and they always stand by their work. Come to you the same day and don't charge it it's an issue with their work.... Called to get a plumber to fix a dripping faucet and a shower with no hot water. Brian came and looked at the sink did not touch it ,and said replace it, it would be less expensive. The shower I removed the handle to look at the valve. Brian said it was stripped and to replace the shower too. The handle is not stripped, he just did not even try to put it back on. He left and said they would send a e-mail with the options and prices to repair my faucet and shower, Which I never recieved. I called Kohler about my problem. Kohler is going to send me the parts to fix both my sink and shower for FREE. They both are an easy fix. I was impressed with their A/C , heating work, not so much with the plumbing read more

They are down to earth, friendly but professional, very knowledgable, and competent unlike many other contractors we have dealt with in the past. He answered all of our questions and kept us abreast of everything that was going on. We are extremely fussy but after the first day we realized we were in good hands. I do NOT recommend this company for HVAC Services. We have lived in our home 3 years and had no issues with any of our furnaces or A/C units, but I called Summit to do some general maintenance on them as they are older units. They sent an employee (Will) that charged me over $4k to service and clean our units, as well as adding hard starts to each one, and he told me we should be good for another few years. One week later, we had a rattling noise in our vent, two weeks later, one system froze up, three weeks later a compressor coil was leaking. When I called them back for service, a new technician named Sky showed up and told me the other employee that had come out was no longer with the company, and he shouldn't have charged me to maintain the units as they were too old and that Summit would make this right and credit back the money spent. He told me my units needed refrigerant but since that would cost $1,000/lb I'd be better off installing new units (NOTE: I had 3 other companies come out and they charge $150-175/lb). Later that day, they sent out their sales lead (Jacob Kirby) and he told me I needed to replace all 4 units at our home. It turns out, the only way they were "making it right" was to apply the $4k credit if I agreed to pay $85k to replace all 4 units (only 1 was not working). When I called Jacob to let him know that was unacceptable, he punted and said his manager Bill would call end of day. No call. I followed up three times over email, no call. I finally emailed Jacob to tell him know he'd lost a customer, at which point a Project Manager named Jeremy Leach left me a voicemail explaining that all the techs they sent were young and inexperienced. I decided it wasn't worth my time or energy to deal with them anymore. I had already received three other quotes from competitors on like-for-like models (same brand), and Summit was over 20% more expensive than everyone else. Even with the $4k "credit" and being a member, I'd still be spending way more by working with them. They are overpriced, have inexperienced technicians, and their management is terrible at customer communication. read more

When it was time for a new furnace, we did our due diligence and got several bids for different products. After meeting with the project managers it was clear that Summit is in a league of their own. Their associates were exceptionally knowledgeable about our specific needs and were able to communicate to us in layman's terms everything that was involved in their bid. The PM, Sam, was knowledgeable, respectful, and genuinely interested in hearing what was important to us and helping us get the right replacement. He was a pleasure to work with and the warranty that Summit offers cannot be beat. I was a little worried that there was no way the rest of the team at Summit could be as exceptional as Sam, but our installation crew of Jason and Nathan were equally impressive. Their knowledge and expertise were apparent. They worked incredibly hard to install the new furnace with an improved footprint that will work so much better in the space and make the whole system more efficient! They took their time to get things done correctly and we could tell they never considered us just another job. It's rare to find a company where everyone you come in contact with is so friendly, helpful, and truly experts in what they do, but that seems to be the case for Summit! I had a friend recommend Summit to me and I've very thankful he did. I had Luis come out and for an estimate for heatpump and mini-splits. He did a great job listening to my desires and determining the equipment I needed to keep my upstairs bedrooms cool. I had a quote from another company and Summit's was better and they are eligible for the Xcel and Denver rebates. I got the work done last week and Luis was communicative throughout the process and following up to make sure things were done well. I had to have some electrical work done to support the heatpump and the electricians Hector and Mike did a really great job (functional and aesthetic) installing a new subpanel and conduit to support the system. They made a point to make sure I understood what they were going to do and answer questions. Vincent and Frank were my installers. They did an AMAZING job, I never would have guessed it would look as good as it does before they started. The external line-hides look really good. They made a point to seal up everything very well. I got a ceiling cassette and two wall-mount mini-splits, they all look and function perfect. Vincent and Frank were super professional, communicative, and they left my rooms and yard cleaner than they were before they started. Deanna is going out of her way in helping me with the rebates! Either these guys are totally unprofessional or they tried to scam me but they basically told me my compressor died and I'm better off replacing the whole unit which they quoted at $5000 and then raised to $6000 the next day (though nothing had changed since the first quote). I ended up calling another company that came and fixed the AC for $350 and it's running great ever since. Update: I got the reply from the Summit Cooling GM (below) and a phone call as well. I do believe after the call that this was an unfortunate case of mis-diagnosis and I'm happy that Summit takes feedback seriously and appreciate the GM taking the time to personally address this issue. read more

From the estimate experience to the final install, Summit has exceeded my expectations in customer service with thorough estimates up front and problem solving a hard to get to area for the new furnace installation. Sam provided detailed options for consideration and described in each estimate the advantages and disadvantages for comparison. As a single female homeowner, I appreciate the straight talk he provided without the pressure to commit. The install team of Frank and Vince had to cut the old furnace in half in order to remove it from the basement hatch in the floor by my kitchen. This meant that we had to figure out a way to get the new furnace into the basement space, through the same floor hatch opening. All possibilities were discussed until we came up with a modification plan to cut through the floor to expand the existing opening and reframe it later in order to accommodate the new furnace dimensions. The electrical hook up team of Hector and Mike were kind and patient while modifications were made. Hector even used the time to kindly correct two minor issues that he noted could be a problem, even though they weren't directly related to the install connection. Overall I am pleased with my new furnace, though I was left with the challenge to reframe the now larger opening in my floor. Understanding that the install took more time than planned for a clean up that day, Frank and Vince returned on a following day to finish the job clean up. Keep smiling Summit gentlemen - it helps to keep the customer happy through the unforeseen and challenging moments that arise with a 120 yo old home! Btw, this would have been a five star review if I did not have to spend the following day purchasing materials and reconstructing the opening that had to be cut away for the new furnace install. Fifty dollars and a half day of my time and a sufficient repair was made, this time with lag screws - just in case. read more
