They sent out two KIDS to connect a ceiling fan, a hallway light & to take pictures for a circuit breaker panel upgrade. One was (approx.) $175/hr the other was (approx.) $100, they totalled over $600 for two hours of work. The ceiling fan still doesn't work. The hallway light was reinstalled & the fixture was left with cables sticking out. The attic access was damaged. There was drywall chips on the floor from working on a switch & attic access... no vacuum? Or who cares about a customer's house? End result: the hallway light was connected & they left a mess. $600+ Will NOT call back, or recommend. read more

I called ten days ago to have an electric car charger installed. They scheduled me today between 12 and 2. Great! At 3, I finally called to see where they were. Operator sent me to service who sent me to a service advisor. He seemed angry at me on the phone for "not following policy" and berated me because "it's not their process" to install a charger without coming out first. He told me "your number isn't even in my phone" uhh so should I apologize for that? Huh? I was a little stunned. Uhh I don't work for you, I'm just trying to be your customer? It's not my process to follow. I called, I scheduled, you stood me up. If they needed to visit to provide an estimate, maybe say so? They had my number and address! Would have been better than ghosting me. I let him know they needed to address internal training on their precious "policies and procedures" that I apparently didn't follow when I tried to be a customer. It was very unusual. Finally I just said "why are you making this hard? It should be easy" and moved on. 3 minutes later I found someone else. read more

I had Bryan come out to write us a quote for a few projects around the house. He was prompt, courteous, and intelligent/intuitive regarding our projects. We had the quote within 24 hours - which was extremely clear and professional. Of the three bids we received, Piper stood out as the most competent and trustworthy, so we hired them. Vic and his apprentice were scheduled for exactly one week later. Vic is extremely talented and takes pride in his work. He spent nearly thirty minutes with me upon arrival going over the scope of the work and helping me to plan the best aesthetic spots for some LED disc lights to be installed so they would flow with the rest of the room. His attention to detail and interior design knowledge ensured I would be very happy with the final product. He and his apprentice took nearly 30 minutes at the end of the day to sweep and clean up after themselves, which I never expected. Part of the work was a kitchen remodel and they tarped off all of the counters and appliances to prevent dust from getting everywhere. During their work, Vic also talked to me about some other projects, I had a new quote for the new scope of work that evening, which was completed exactly a week later. I was blown away by the professionalism, quality of work, care of my home, and attention to detail throughout their work. This is my second time working with Piper. They did a fantastic job installing recessed can lights and fixing some plugs for me. They responded quickly and were ready to work! They charge for time and materials so you can save money if you get a quote from them and then buy your own stuff from a hardware store. In a world of unreliable people working on your home, Piper has not let me down! Still waiting on final price even though the job is done due to new policies in the company. I first reached out to Piper on December 11th. The Alarm Service Coordinator was very nice and professional. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience with Piper was not at all smooth. They informed me on the 11th that someone would be in touch with me. We had an entire 2 weeks pass by with no contact from Piper. On January the 8th I reached out to them, and they apologized claiming they had end of year vacations with lots of people off. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. On January the 16th we had an electrician call us that they would not be able to make it today as they were held up at another job. My response, well we did not even know you guys were coming here as no one even called us. So finally on the 17th of January, the electrician showed up, performed the inspection and told me I would be notified on January 18th on what they discovered, and I would have an estimate. On January 27th I reached back out to Piper as we had not yet received any communication and finally, it was sent over with them stating another apology as they just put in a new system. They told me we will get someone to call you today and get you on the schedule. On February 5th, I followed up for an update on when they would be able to get us on the schedule. On March 10th I reached back out to Piper to see what the status was being that at this point, we were going to move to another electrician. I was told we will take a look at it and yet, another apology. On Friday, March 14th we had an electrician from Piper show up here un-announced saying he was told by his supervisor to do an analyis of what was the issue so they could provide us a quote. Hard to believe that at this point, we went back to the original request I put in from a few months ago. I already had the quote and diagnosis. At this point we are looking for someone else to perform the work as they totally let us down time and time again. I would not recommend them at all as the things they were doing are pretty much unexplainable. read more

I called Piper because I had flickering lights and thought maybe a circuit was overloaded. When I called, I spoke to Mika to make an appt. Mika suggested that my lights may be flickering because of the type of bulbs themselves (among other possible causes) and recommended I try swapping them out to see if that did the trick. Sure enough, it was the bulbs. Mika could have sent a technician without saying anything and charged me the hourly rate. But her honest recommendation earned Piper a 5 star review and a promise to call them again in the future when something else goes wrong. We had a GFCI outlet stuck in test mode that meant blowdrying my hair in our bedroom since all bathrooms in the house were locked out by this issue. We also had a light fixture in our laundry room that wasn't working so we called Piper to come check it all out. Our window was 11AM-1PM but the tech ended up showing up at 9 AM which worked even better. He was very nice, worked quickly, explained everything thoroughly, & I even asked some other questions I had about future projects I want to do on his way out to help me understand how much work each entailed. Unfortunately the light fixture needs to be replaced (which I suspected before he arrived) but he easily fixed the GFCI issue which was the thing I was most eager to fix anyway. We needed to upgrade our entire breaker box, add a new special outlet for a heat pump and install a rapid charger for an EV. The Piper folks--Art, Bailey, Jordan and two others--did a great job, and left the work sites clean. They realized that our copper water pipes were not grounded (!?!) and fixed that as well. Over two days' work, they were courteous and thorough. Piper is not cheap, but they fixed several problems that other electricians had created (including potential fire hazards). Piper is good value for the money. We know that we will not have to redo any of their work and we feel safer. We highly recommend Piper, and will use them for any further electrical jobs. Their installers added a new 200 amp panel in our old 1948 60 amp farm house, apparently that additional power solved all the miscellaneous electrical ghosting. My wife is overjoyed with the ability to use all our electrical appliances without blinking light bulbs. I've had Piper out to add an outlet, replace old outlets, and install a floodlight and they are fantastic. Their electricians are extremely professional and I've never had them try to upsell me on anything. They clearly advertise every where "FREE ESTIMATES". But in reality they don't. They charge you $140 an hour just to come out. Now tell me that's not false advertisement?! Just had Piper upgrade our panel from 100 to 200 amps. The entire experience was excellent. They had a very competitive bid that wasn't bloated with "double dipping" -- charging twice for the same thing on two different line items, which we saw on other bids that came out much higher. The whole process was timely and professional and the workmanship was top notch. They were very familiar with City of Boulder regs and we passed inspection the first time around. The inspector even gave Piper thumbs up and told their electrician that their work looked great. We are already planning to have Piper back out when we replace our stove in a few months and we've recommended them to our friends. read more

Pros: - Quick scheduling for estimate - Friendly, professional assessment of work to be done - Gave helpful insights into rewiring options and codes for a 50's era home - Speedy turn-around to get scheduled for work to be completed Cons: - Technician did not do a great job of cleaning up after work was completed - I paid by phone the same day work was completed because I couldn't be on site the day work was completed. Had to follow-up for receipt and final invoice, which seemed strange - When I did receive the final invoice, it did not show breakdown for parts and labor as most companies do. The amount due was the same as the estimate, which I had paid over the phone in good faith assuming the invoice to follow would have a breakdown. Instead the invoice showed the total amount charged with a narrative description of work done - NO actual parts/labor. When we called to follow-up again, the person said they don't offer parts and labor breakdowns but he could "make up numbers" to get it add up to the billed amount, if that would help. For me, the cons far outweighed the pros. The process and response definitely left a bad taste after being a good, prompt paying customer. Disappointed to find out out estimates are not clearly supported by actual costs. read more

Art and Zach did a great job installing an additional circuit for a level 2 Electric Vehicle charger in our garage. Since our service panel was nearly full, they installed a load shed (a DCC12 controller box for EV) which provides overload protection without requiring a full service panel upgrade. This saved about $1000 over bids that included a full panel upgrade. I watched the city inspector go over the work and he was impressed with the quality of work inside the panel. Art made an effort to make small and clean cuts in the drywall, so the repair afterward was something that I could take on myself. read more

Art and Zach from Piper were amazing! We had our neighbor's tree branch knock down our electrical line and rip our electrical stack right off of our house and out of our electrical meter. We were without power after that storm and they made it a priority to get our electricity restored and they did remarkable work on the repairs. They were honest, dependable, and reliable and took time to answer my questions. We had this same problem in 2019 but the repair was way more expensive with a different company.
