Not my cup of tea - mediocre drinks, poor service, plastic straws. I walked in on a weekday evening. There was one woman ahead of me in line and no one else inside the store besides the two employees. The cashier, featured in the photo, processed the lady's order and after finishing the transaction, the woman just stood there chatting with the employee making her drink. Instead of asking her to step aside, the cashier immediately went to her phone. I asked if I could place an order and before I could finish asking, the cashier rudely replied, "we will be with you in a minute." Great. The menu states the store can adjust sweetness and ice level. I typically go for beverages that are less sweet so I could enjoy the natural flavors. I was told sweetness couldn't be adjusted on the Taro Sago drink with no clear explanation. The response given was, "we can't do that, it's pre-made." I ended up purchasing it anyway. The drink would actually benefit with sweetener and was too grainy for my liking. Powdered drinks would have taste better. I do not recommend nor would I go again. read more

I stopped by Tea Top's soft opening here in Newark this past week, and it was an amazing experience. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by an employee, who was very welcoming, friendly and patient. They are located inside the Lion Plaza Shopping Center, but rather in an odd non busy section of the plaza. It's rather hidden if you do not visit the far side of the plaza. The tea is pretty good here, you can taste the quality of the tea that they use to make their products. I had the Earl Grey Milk Tea with Boba and I really enjoyed it. It had wonderful flavor and the boba was nice, soft and chewy, a perfect add on to the drink. I also tried the Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea and that was also pretty good. Although, the price is kinda of high, the cup size is huge! Larger than all other places. The cups are much taller than most places. That's a huge bonus right there. Fantastic service and good quality tea, what more do you need? Give this place a shot! read more

One of the best boba shops available. You can actually taste the tea in the drinks. I always love getting the Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea. It's def a fave of mine. Very bad customer service. I order Greentea Milktea with red bean + grass jelly for my drinks (for 7 cups), you know what? the guy didn't know what my drinks are. He took my order two times like the bills show up, but totally was wrong I let him know that. Then he was reject my order without any word say sorry. He has to return back my member card with 5 drinks on there before I already have it, that i gave to him(he was kept it). Finally, I got my drinks from Gong Cha milk tea. I used to go to the West SJ one but this is now closer and tastes just as good. Just stepped out of TeaTop sipping on #6 Earl Grey with 3Q, 50% sweet, less ice. So far I'm a fan! My suggestion is to order your sweetness level 25% less than your usual elsewhere. I was surprised that 50% sweet was still a little too sweet for my liking compared to other places. I probably should've gotten 25% but was still satisfied. And I will agree with others that their cups are slightly larger than others (e.g. bigger than Super Cue/i-Tea's regular size). 4.5 rounded up! Came here today with my sister and brother. The service is super good here. (Funny story, the cashier actually told my sister her shoelace was untied.) They only have large drink sizes here which was a little strange to me. It was around $9.60 for two drinks. We got the Fresh Milk Trifecta and the Brown Sugar Fresh Milk with Tapioca. Both were SUPER good. I love red bean and their boba is perfectly chewy. I would definitely recommend getting 100% sugar here, even though I usually opt for 80% or 50%. Maybe add more drink sizes, but otherwise I'll definitely be back here. I think this is the best boba option near Newpark Mall. I got the matcha latte with pearls at 80% sweetness and less ice. Upon reading lots of Yelp reviews on TeaTop, I was pleasantly surprised my drink wasn't overly sweet even at 80%. The honey boba was the right consistency and texture. The matcha latte drink was a little bland. I couldn't taste the matcha and the drink was overwhelmed with fresh milk taste. My bf got the taro milk tea with sago. This drink's sweetness cannot be adjusted because it is literally just taro and sago. The taro milk tea had a hint of taro taste and some remaining taro purée at the bottom of the cup. The sago was perfect. If we come back, we'd probably stick to the taro milk tea with sago since it seems unique to this boba shop. Other boba joints don't sell this. This place has wonderful customer service. read more

I'm not sure how long this place has been open but I only recently found out about them. They have really good deals that they run, sometimes having special rates for girls' nights. Their milk teas are moderately priced, and their teas are pretty decent. I don't really like their bobas but their drinks themselves are good. The staff is pretty fast at getting the orders ready, this place doesn't get overly crowded so it's not an issue finding seating or being able to order and get out quickly. The inerior is decorated similarly to other milk tea spots, nothing really makes them stand out more than any other place. There is plenty of parking here so it's convenient to visit. I definitely recommend checking this place out because the milk teas are worth the price that you pay for them. They are also conveniently located in a shopping center. read more
