There are so many tea shops in the Bay Area, and Tea Top is very similar. You can customize your drink, specifying sugar level and toppings. Today we got.... + Signature Alpine Green Tea with boba - this was quite good with a hint of green tea flavor. + Peach Tea - refreshing To me it's just another typical tea shop, which isn't a bad thing. We enjoyed our drinks.
I enjoy Tea Top's Fremont location and tried the Newark one a few times. I usually get my drinks less ice, less sweet, but the tea flavor is by no means watered down. The boba has the perfect texture and is lightly sweet. Service was fast, decent amount of seating, and employees were very kind in accommodating a last minute drink swap. Solid go to!
The trifecta milk drink has red bean, boba, and grass jelly. You cannot adjust the sweetness but honestly it wasn't that sweet. They have ac which felt so nice on a hot day! I saw a guy doing work there on his laptop so you can certainly do that. The staff were nice. I would love to come back and try their other drinks!
I rarely go to Tea Top because I never remember that they exist but every time I get a drink from here, I always wonder why because the drinks are solid. The workers (I didn't catch their names but it was a young woman and man) were so incredibly sweet with customizations and explaining different drinks since they have an extensive menu. Their drinks run a bit sweet even though I usually get 100% sweet at all the other boba shops so if you're similar, I recommend at least reducing to 80%. They're currently running a BOGO 50% M-W for the first 50 customers. I'm not sure how long it'll last, but it's definitely a great deal and I'll try to visit as often as I can. There are a few more boba shops opening on this strip, but Tea Top is a great location that you should try if you haven't.
Got the Earl Grey Milk Tea w/ 3Q, but removed the grass jelly. Earl Grey is a rare find at milk tea shops so had to try. The flavor is very light, almost a little more watered down. Still enjoyable and the standard size is pretty large. Nothing stood out with the boba and lychee jelly, but I did like the combination with the tea. Price is reasonable compared to most places these days. Vibes felt very nostalgic and simple. They have a student discount for 10% off and a punch card system as well which is nice. A bit far from my location so may not go back but I did enjoy and did think it was worth for a standard simple milk tea.
This location is the closest to me and always have deals (B2G1, BOGO50%) the drinks always come in a large and they have a great variety of teas, milkteas, milkshakes etc. And their boba is always fresh, no complaints! Service is good too.
Final Thoughts: 2.00/5.00 After dinner, my friend and I went to get boba at the shop a few doors down. Perhaps we should have chosen somewhere else. My friend said that his coworkers will go here sometimes and they seem to like it. To each their own. I have personally had better, but I'll try anything once. Overall, will be a 2 star for me today. Drinks: Matcha Latte: 1.5/5 Very interesting how this place has fairly high marks and reviews. Maybe because their other drinks are better? I chose this drink today because I've very much gotten into matcha. This drink was not for me though. First look gave me that sense too. Lovely layering, but it was when it was mixed did I really see it. My one note is the amount of milk that is added to this drink. When it comes to matcha drinks, I find that less is more with the base. This drink just had so much milk and ice at the bottom and it completely dilutes the matcha. Had this matcha been in a little less milk, it may have been better. This also dulls out the color of it and makes the drink itself unappealing when it's mixed. This drink is super grainy at the bottom and I tried to mix it more, but that really didn't help. Sweetness was alright. Again, flavor of it was just the milk, so I can't say too much of the matcha since it drowned out. Grapefruit Green Tea with Crushed Ice: 3.0/5 This was my friend's drink and I tried it for my review purposes. This was the better option of the two. The grapefruit and tea drink itself was very refreshing. Sweetness was good. Something about the crushed ice made it better. I honestly don't think this drink would be the same with the regular cubed large ice. The crushed ice was also mixed in with the grapefruit pulp at the top too. I like that addition of the grapefruit because of it's natural flavor and that texture from it. Grapefruit can be slightly bitter, but I actually like it that subtle bitterness with the sweetness and tartness in it. The green tea is a good option to have with think drink because it's very light and doesn't overpower the remainder of the drink. Sweetness was good for me. Definitely more of a passing drink than the drink option that I chose today. Menu: Good enough variety Again, looks to be your standard boba shop menu. There are a fair amount of items on their menu for you to choose from though. Perhaps their fruit teas would have been the better option for me here. I thought my friend's drink was really refreshing and appropriate for the weather at the time. --------- Quality: So-so The matcha really doesn't look like my ceremonial grade matcha powder. Slightly oxidized and dulled out green color. This might be because it looked completely diluted, but maybe not. What gets me was how grainy it was too. Now, looking at my friend's drink, I liked the grapefruit pulp and the use of the natural fruit inside the drink. So, will depend on what you get and your preferences. Price: Average Truly your average Bay Area prices for these drinks and what they are. The price will range from $5 to $8, so really within that standard boba drink price here. Service: Friendly They greeted us when we walked into the shop and they were also really quick to make the drink. I noticed the person making the drink come to the front too to see what we would order and he started making it right after we paid for the drinks. Loving the quick service. There wasn't many groups ahead of us, so he was able to do this. I'm sure they try their best to keep up and make it quickly to order though, which I appreciate. Ambiance: Standard boba shop The interior is giving your very standard boba shop and smell. There are a few tables on the side and the counter on the other side. I think this would be a nice studying stop or charting spot because it seems very peaceful. Location/Parking: Long Plaza; Optimal Parking Spaces This area is on Cedar Blvd. The plaza itself is quite long and made up of sections of buildings. All of it seems to be connected though, so there are parking spaces. Doesn't seem like it was super super saturated of an area during the time, so my friend and I were able to park close by. I really don't see parking being too much of an issue though.
TeaTop is a nice boba shop in a plaza with many other Asian restaurants, making it the perfect snack or dessert shop after a meal. I couldn't resist trying a drink and picked up the Panda Milk Tea, since it was on a 15% discount. The boba was fresh and just the right texture, not too chewy and not too hard, but at 30% sugar was a still too much for me. Upon leaving, I noticed that the staff member never applied the 15% discount promotion that they had going on. Rather than calmly correcting the error, he made the most disgruntled face and opened the cash register, flinging a couple coins at me - nowhere near 15%. Although I enjoyed the boba and would have liked trying the next drink at 0%, I'm turned away by the rude interaction with the staff member. +1 for the boba, though, because that was genuinely good otherwise.
My go-to drink is #19 Signature Alpine Green Milk Tea because I really like the tea flavor. It seems unique because I haven't seen this tea name in other stores before. I like how the cashier always offers a stamp card without me asking. The stamp card is only for this Newark store, and it is buy 10, get one free. Based on going here more than four times in the evening, there is lots of empty seating inside, and it was easy to find free parking in the lot. Definitely coming back here again to try other flavors like Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea and Winter Melon Alpine Green Tea.
Tea? Yes! Boba? Yes! Decaf drinks? Yes! Wifi? Yes! If you haven't been, welcome the new tea shop in town! Coming in with fresh made tea from leaves procured from Taiwan, TeaTop is making an impression. The tea is flavorful and the toppings are always fresh. They have a variety of toppings and are available to sample if they're new to you. The boba is chewy and made fresh. If caffeine is not your cup of tea, then you'll be happy to hear that they have a variety of non-caffeinated drinks including slushies and juices. Also fear not lactose-intolerant friends! All their milk items are lactose free! Now if you're adventurous, you'll be surprised to hear that they host a number of specials each month at a discount. Speaking of discounts, they have some other deals including buy two get one free Wednesdays and Fridays and bring your own (BYO) cup discount. The discounts come in handy given that the drinks here are slightly higher priced than other places, however the size of the standard drinks and the quality makes it fair. It's extremely comfortable to hang out here as they have plenty of clean seats and booths, free wifi, air conditioning, a working bathroom, easy parking, quick access to the highway and personable staff. Located just across the street from New Park Mall and Newark Memorial High School, you have no reason not to come give TeaTop a shot! Overall, I enjoy their tea drinks a lot and the deals are great incentives to bring a friend with you in your milk tea exploration. If they were open earlier, they may even rival the Starbucks across the street in the morning!
With signage up about their origins from a premium tea brewing business, I expected my drink to have high quality tea taste to compliment fresh fruit flavors. This was sadly not the case. I ordered the Passion Green Tea Medley, which I had high hopes for as it is listed as one of TeaTop's top 10 recommendations. The drink comes with lychee jelly and boba, which was very competitively priced for the size of the drink at just $5.95. Despite the aforementioned items, I found the drink to be too artificially sweet even at 30%. And the passion fruit taste to be artificial, rather than deriving from fresh passion juice. Overall, I found the drink just be to okay. There are definitely better options in the highly saturated boba market throughout the Newark/Fremont area. The shop itself is located at the tail end of the strip mall, on the quieter side.
I arrived at TeaTop and there was a line of 2-3 people ahead of me. It seemed popular which was a good sign. The Alpine Green milk tea sounded unique, so I got that with boba. My drink tasted ok, but I wasn't impressed. The boba was soft and chewy, but I feel like there are other milk tea places that taste better. I also asked for "less ice" and to my surprise, after drinking my milk tea, my cup was almost half full of ice! I was disappointed, but by that time, I was already in my car and almost home. Maybe I'll ask for "no ice" if I come back again. Also, when did it cost $6+ for milk tea?! Yikes, inflation must be hitting hard. read more

Tried this boba spot, as they were open on Christmas Day. Really good boba and milk tea! All the iced drinks also come in super large cups which is great value! I got the Early Grey Milk tea with 3Q because I wanted a lot of toppings. It's boba, grass jelly, and coconut jelly (which I was skeptical about, but it worked!). Great for when I really crave boba and chewy goodness. The Sun Moon Lake black milk tea was good, but I think I may have covered up the great tea flavor with milk and sweetness. Finally, also got the Alpine Green Tea for my brother who doesn't like milk in his drink. It was really light and not too sweet, which is exactly what he was looking for. They also have a huge boba drink as decor which is fun. The service was solid - the people working were genuinely friendly and great! read more

Get the Sun Moon Lake (milk) tea! Besides that one, so far I've tried three different drinks from here so far and the Sun Moon Lake tea is my favorite. Really fragrant and not too sweet. You can either get it with or without milk, both are nice. The alpine green tea is a good choice as well. The third one I've tried is the passion fruit tea. While I appreciate that they used honey instead of syrup to sweeten this drink, it was still too sweet for my liking (even at 50%). I ended up sharing it with a friend. Bonus: I like that the menu is not too overwhelming with choices. They keep it relatively simple. read more
Tucked away in a tiny little plaza across from NewPark Mall is TeaTop. This was my first time trying TeaTop, so my friend and I went for two of the classics to get a feel for the place (Oolong Milk Tea and Earl Grey Milk Tea). The boba is fairly average, and the teas aren't bad either. I don't know - I can't say the drinks tasted terrible, but I didn't particularly like them either. Let's just say this place is inoffensive if you need your boba fix after a meal nearby. They only have one kinda large size ($4 / $4.50 with boba) so be prepared to drink a lot of tea. Oh and there's a loyalty program for a free drink after you buy 10 of them. Not sure if I'll be back enough times to take advantage of that though! read more

Not my cup of tea - mediocre drinks, poor service, plastic straws. I walked in on a weekday evening. There was one woman ahead of me in line and no one else inside the store besides the two employees. The cashier, featured in the photo, processed the lady's order and after finishing the transaction, the woman just stood there chatting with the employee making her drink. Instead of asking her to step aside, the cashier immediately went to her phone. I asked if I could place an order and before I could finish asking, the cashier rudely replied, "we will be with you in a minute." Great. The menu states the store can adjust sweetness and ice level. I typically go for beverages that are less sweet so I could enjoy the natural flavors. I was told sweetness couldn't be adjusted on the Taro Sago drink with no clear explanation. The response given was, "we can't do that, it's pre-made." I ended up purchasing it anyway. The drink would actually benefit with sweetener and was too grainy for my liking. Powdered drinks would have taste better. I do not recommend nor would I go again. read more

We were greeted and walked through some tea options and they were offering a happy hour special for buy one get the 2nd for half off! I stopped by Tea Top's soft opening here in Newark this past week, and it was an amazing experience. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by an employee, who was very welcoming, friendly and patient. They are located inside the Lion Plaza Shopping Center, but rather in an odd non busy section of the plaza. It's rather hidden if you do not visit the far side of the plaza. The tea is pretty good here, you can taste the quality of the tea that they use to make their products. I had the Earl Grey Milk Tea with Boba and I really enjoyed it. It had wonderful flavor and the boba was nice, soft and chewy, a perfect add on to the drink. I also tried the Sun Moon Lake Milk Tea and that was also pretty good. Although, the price is kinda of high, the cup size is huge! Larger than all other places. The cups are much taller than most places. That's a huge bonus right there. Fantastic service and good quality tea, what more do you need? Give this place a shot! read more

Very bad customer service. I order Greentea Milktea with red bean + grass jelly for my drinks (for 7 cups), you know what? the guy didn't know what my drinks are. He took my order two times like the bills show up, but totally was wrong I let him know that. Then he was reject my order without any word say sorry. He has to return back my member card with 5 drinks on there before I already have it, that i gave to him(he was kept it). Finally, I got my drinks from Gong Cha milk tea. I wonder if the owner know that, Customer service is the key for doing business. read more

Just stepped out of TeaTop sipping on #6 Earl Grey with 3Q, 50% sweet, less ice. So far I'm a fan! My suggestion is to order your sweetness level 25% less than your usual elsewhere. I was surprised that 50% sweet was still a little too sweet for my liking compared to other places. I probably should've gotten 25% but was still satisfied. And I will agree with others that their cups are slightly larger than others (e.g. bigger than Super Cue/i-Tea's regular size). This place is pretty good! Came here on the last day of the BOGO promotion, and there was a good amount of people around. Before ordering, they allowed me to try whichever toppings I wanted which was nice! My friends and I ended up getting drinks from the "Top 10" which were #5: Taro Milk Tea w/ Sago, #7: Milk Foam Oolong Tea (w/ Red Beans added), and #8: Pearl Milk Tea w/ Red Beans. I was hesitant to get the red beans at first, but when I got the sample of it, I decided to get the #8 since it came with it. It was pretty good! The boba was made perfectly, not too hard or too soft. The drinks were also pretty big in my opinion (one size for all drinks). My friends and I all liked our drinks! It came out quick and the service was great and really friendly! We'll be back! read more

TeaTop I've officially become a fan. This is the second one I've been too as I recently visited the one in Milpitas (McCarthy Ranch) I have them firmly in my Tri city/South 880 rankings at #2 . The taste is sweeter than most places which I enjoy. I have it at a 8 for taste and 7 for boba on my milk tea taste/boba taste rating scale. I also tried a brown sugar drink they have #50 but that was underwhelming and I really couldn't taste the brown sugar like I can at other venues. Remember that my rankings /tiers are simply for the establishments "regular milk tea". I recently embarked on a completely pointless quest to rank most of the Milk Tea/Boba Places in San Francisco and realized I also need (well need is a debatable word) but I "chose" to make a list for the Fremont/Hayward/Newark/Union City South 880 Corridor. It serves tasty drinks with a variety of choices. I tried the red bean boba tea. It is really refreshing with chewing red bean and boba. I didn't find this drink in other places. The store is hip and comfortable to hang out. A loyalty program is available. read more

Another boba spot on this side of Newark? I'll take it! To be honest, this area along Cedar has so many options for boba, and all of them are pretty good, TeaTop included. Came here on a Friday night and the small seating area was full, which was impressive for such a new business. Ordered the regular milk tea with boba, half sweet. It came out in a minute or two, and tasted amazing. There are a ton of options to choose from, lots of different teas. The staff was helpful and patient as we made our decisions, and they have a frequent buyer stamp card as well! Will defs be back!! read more

I always tell my friends how this is my favorite milk tea shop! The quality of tea is top notch. My favorite drink is the Wintermelon Alpine Green Milk Tea. I like to adjust the creamer to less so that I can really taste the tea while still having that creamy texture. I tried their newest drink today, the mango strawberry slushy. I love their mango slushy already and having the strawberry mixed with it is absolutely delicious!!! read more

What kind of milk are available?
We just have whole milk but for our milk teas we use a non dairy creamer. You can always ask the staff about these questions and we will be happy to answer.
Do they sell half gallon size during the shelter in place?

Yes they are open everyday But close early on Sunday and Monday (6:00 PM)
Does TeaTop do catering? I come regularly and wanted to order a large quantity or drinks for my daughter's birthday.
