Passionfruit Green Tea With Grass Jelly
Benny W.

Whenever we're in SJ, we always stop by Huong Lan to get some premade food and desserts to bring back home. Our purchase was almost $50.00 and the cashier told us to stop by Teamo to pick our free beverage. We were greeted by a friendly cashier. We ordered the Passionfruit Green Tea With Grass Jelly. The beverage was refreshing and it wasn't overly sweet. We'll definitely stop by here again to try their other beverages, pho fries, and Vietnamese savory pancakes.

I just discovered TeaMo. It replaces the previous tea place called Boba Love. There is plenty of parking but the closer spots might be hard to find. The interior is moss green with simple decor. One large tv playing a movie. They also have house music playing. Order via cashier. One unisex coded restroom. Blueberry Matcha Latte (3.5/5) - good matcha flavor. The blueberry was lighter in taste. But also it wasn't artificial in taste. Popcorn Chicken (3/5) - choice of seasonings from house, cajun, or furikake. I chose the house. Tender cuts of dark meat deep fried with fried cloves. The pieces were tiny, I actually like a bigger size of chicken. I also ordered The Classic: Vietnamese drip coffee (4/5). A good strong coffee flavor with a creamy sweetness only ~ just the way I like it. I'll be back to try some other drinks. Support your local business. They are connected with Huong Lan Sandwiches.

Corn matcha latte and matcha latte (with strawberry cream)

I love a cafe that actually has cafe hours! Came to SJ early and wanted to grab a matcha, but most places open late. So thank you TeaMo! Their unique drinks also were a plus. I got the Corn Matcha Latte which you couldn't adjust the sweetness on unfortunately. Despite it being sweeter than I'd usually prefer for my drinks, I reaaaally enjoyed it. It reminded me of a Filipino dessert called mais con leche but with matcha! I never knew I needed that in my life. My partner got the matcha later with strawberry cream which he also really enjoyed! I think it's really cool that they use Nami matcha as well! I've been wanting to try some before I buy it, so I'm glad I got to at TeaMo.

Honestly, the Apple Matcha Cloud was refreshing! I had to try it because the combination sounded so unique. I'd say it's pretty comparable to a coconut water matcha since they both have a light, refreshing liquid base. I also love that they use fresh apples, and the crème on top was really good! The Blueberry Matcha was also good. They recommended getting it less sweet since the blueberry is already naturally sweet, which I think was a good call. The store itself is small and cute, and they also have some unique snacks, like their pho fries!

~$7.50/drink Matcha is just not good here. Everything is plastic. Service was quick and fast, nothing special. The ambiance is whatever. I personally would not go back for the drinks, BUT I think the food is worth a try because this place took over a classic viet snack spot. Will report back on bank khot! I think the food is priced pretty high though, so more of a we will see??

Black Passion Fruit Tea, 75% sweet, with boba and hidden seeds.
Binny

The service was good and I received my order quickly. I ordered a passion fruit black tea with boba. The boba was good and the tea had a lot of passion fruit flavor - almost sour. I knew they used real passionfruit because my drink was full of seeds. Is that normal? I don't think it is. Theyre big and pointy. I tried to finish the drink but couldn't do it. The building and seats were old and a bit run down. Not the best if you prioritize atmosphere. However, the branding is good and there is potential to level up the vibes.

I had to come back to my favorite boba shop in SJ! I was in the mood to try something new. Horchata Matcha (5/5): Although no adjustments were allowed for this drink, this is one of my new favorite drinks. It's perfect if you want something sweet and earthy. I really enjoyed how well the cinnamon of the horchata blended with the matcha as it gave it an extra kick. I was extremely satisfied with my drink here

Grabbed a sandwich nearby and saw this spot opened up in the small plaza. Stopped by to get two drinks: (4/5) Horchata Matcha: so interesting the drink was purple, but overall drink was good but a bit too sweet for my liking and didn't like how we weren't able to adjust (2/5) Corn Matcha: not sure what I was expecting but it was just not my cup of tea, also very sweet even though i was able to adjust the sugar Staff was nice and the decor was modern!

Pandan Matcha Latte ($7.25), Strawberry Mint Lemonade ($5.75), Bạc Xỉu: Cà Phê Sữa Đá w/ extra condensed milk ($6)

4.5 STARS As someone that's allergic to crowds, I love Coachella, Burning Man, and EDC weekends because no lines! Add, BTS at Stanford this weekend. And, the AP x Swatch collab for a McD happy meal toy "watch"... It's the best time to hit up new spots or hard to get into cafes and restos. TeaMo soft opened last week so we had to pay a visit after getting our cơm tấm fix nearby. Limited soft opening menu: Series: Fruit + milk teas, matcha, cà phê sữa đá, and non-caffeinated. Oat milk available for no charge. They also sell snacks: Popcorn chicken, tots, bánh khọt (mini savory pancakes) and bột chiên (fried rice cakes). D R I N K S * Pandan Matcha Latte ($7.25) - Fixed sweetness Love their pandan milk with a natural vanilla-y sweetness. TeaMo uses Nami Matcha, an influencer founded brand. I prefer more umami forward matcha so I wasn't a fan of the matcha's harsh bitter aftertaste. BUT, the pandan milk did a good job mellowing out bitterness and balancing the drink. * Bạc Xỉu ($6) Cà phê sữa đá with extra condensed milk is the right move. I had a sip and it was delicious! Sweet but not too sweet and creamy. You can still taste the strong roasty flavor but the extra condensed milk takes the bitter edge off. * Strawberry Mint Lemonade ($5.75) - Request less sweet Super refreshing and nicely tart. Loved the nugget ice. S E R V I C E Owner was friendly and very helpful. I was worried the matcha latte would be too sweet (fixed sweet) but he assured me it wouldn't be. He was right! Drinks were ready in less than 5 minutes. A M B I A N C E Casual space with five tables. Restroom available. If you're in the area getting your Viet food fix, give this new small business a try!

Stopped by a new boba spot today after hitting up Huong Lan for some of my Vietnamese fast food favorites and was pleasantly surprised. Apparently, if you spend $30+ at Huong Lan, you get a free drink from the new shop next door, TeaMo. Had I known that beforehand, I probably wouldn't have ordered my Vietnamese coffee because they have coffee drinks there too. The service was fantastic. The male cashier was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly fast. While chatting with him, I learned something new: they carry Japanese matcha powder in small tins, including a red matcha variety with a more savory, umami flavor profile. I had never heard of red matcha before, so that definitely piqued my curiosity. I'll have to come back and pick up a tin to experiment with at home, especially since my nieces and nephews love matcha. For my free drink, I got a lychee milk tea with non-dairy creamer, black pearls, 25% sugar, and ice. It was refreshing, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. The shop has a clean, modern vibe, plenty of parking, and despite a steady stream of customers coming over from the bakery. I was in and out in under two minutes. My nieces and nephews are huge fans of boba, matcha, and any fruit drinks, so I'll definitely be bringing them back to explore the menu. They've only been open a few weeks, but based on today's experience, they're off to a great start. Great service, great first impression, and a nice addition to the plaza. Wishing them lots of success with their grand opening!

Final Thoughts: 4.00/5 New matcha spot on Tully Road. Kind of rare that I see anything happening in this plaza and very very rare that I go into this plaza to begin with because I'm not fond of trying to get out of here. My friends and I did want to try this place out. Seems like a fairly new place. They had a smaller menu when we first came, but after a little review, it seems like they expanded their drink and food menu a bit. As for the matcha, the pictures online showed a nice and rich matcha color, so we did decide to go here after dinner. Will be a solid 4 stars across the board here. Drink: Matcha Latte with Oat Milk: 4.00/5 Back to my basic matcha latte. Both my friend and I got their matcha latte today with oat milk. There really wasn't that many matcha options when this place initially opened. They don't have the additional cream tops like other places. Perhaps still pending or in the works. I'm always here for a simple matcha latte though. They actually do it well here. Even with the size of the cup, the ratios of matcha, milk, and ice are good. Of note, they do have the nugget ice provided here. Not a personal favorite for my friend, but I love the nugget ice because they're so cute. Sweetness was overall good. Matcha was a nice strong flavor, slightly sweet, light nuttiness. Menu: Their menu seems to have expanded since the last time we came here. I'm now seeing that they have just some more drink options and snacks. My friend and I didn't get any snacks today, but I did note that their snacks include Viet options like bánh khọt (these are the mini Vietnamese savory pancakes) and bánh bột chiên (fried rice flour cake). Other options include popcorn chicken and friesor tater tots. Doesn't seem to be an excessive amount at all, but honestly I prefer the quality over quantity. --------- Quality: Serving Nami Matcha Their matcha color looks very rich and seemed to have enough of it for the size of the cup. This cup is larger and I was a little concerned that the taste of the matcha would be diluted from the ice and milk. Their ratios actually work really well for me. Of note, at the cashier, it shows that they are using Nami Matcha. This is actually a nice matcha brand. Very smooth with a light and mild sweetness to it, which I enjoy. Price: Average Seems appropriate for a cup. Looking at the menu, the prices, they're around $7 to $8 per cup. There is an upcharge for the oat milk, so just a note for that. Milk substitutes are offered though. Prices for the snacks are very variable and will depend on which item you choose to get. Service: Sweet They're very nice and sweet. Went over the menu and asked if I had any questions when I first came. We were even able to get their stickers. Perhaps just a little something for us. When the drinks were done, one of the employees delivered the drinks to our table because we were sitting down at the time. Very short interaction, but memorable nonetheless. Ambiance: Simple Interior The interior is very simple and just gives me your quaint café vibes. The shop is kind of in a corner, so there's only so much light that comes in here. It's a cute café with minimal designs and interior. I like the interior colors with the light green and wood though. From the outside, it does look a little dimmer, but the interior is quite nice. Location/Parking: Large Plaza This parking and this area really is an area that I don't go to often given. Its's at the plaza on Tully and S King Road. The plaza itself is quite large and there is a hefty amount of parking, so I don't think that that will be a concern. It's a little harder to get out of the parking lot, but seems to be ok if you exit out through to S King Road versus Tully Road.

Yum! 4.5 stars I was searching for a matcha place near by and TeaMo pandan matcha caught my eye. Drinks came out fast, the matcha is pretty good, and the pandan flavor is yummy for $7.75 it makes sense.. Staff was super sweet! And the space is cute. Why 4.5 stars? - I asked for half sweet & half ice but realized after I left it was only half ice put in the ticket. Unfortunately the drink at 75% (their normal sugar) is TOO SWEET.

New matcha spot in SJ serving Nami Matcha! I came here upon recommendation and was happy that I made the visit. What immediately stood out to me on Yelp was how green their matcha was and the unique combinations they offered (ex. corn matcha). We visited on a Saturday around 3pm and there was no wait. I ordered the pandan matcha while my BF ordered the corn matcha. Both drinks were SOO good! I really appreciated how intense the pandan and corn flavors were for each respective drink. You're also able to purchase tins of Nami here - I got the yame powder for $40! Note - they're associated w/ Huong Lan sandwiches. If you spend $30 at Huong Lan, you get one free drink at Teamo!

They use Nami Matcha!

There was a promotion that day and we got a free bag. Honestly we could have ordered just a tad more for a free cup but its okay. I ordered the matcha on matcha (~$8) got reg sugar and less ice. the green is extremely vibrant, and the matcha cream was nice and sweet. the matcha tasted pretty good. Well worth. my friend ordered the matcha tiramisu latte (~$8) She loved it. Unfortunately it only came w/ one cookie. Two would have been nice just it cost more money. I've had better Einspanners so this one didn't blow my mind. Glad I was able to check this off my list. The sunset guava tea was refreshing but could use a stronger tea flavor because it mostly tasted like syrup. The matcha cloud was very milky and doesn't taste like matcha at all. If there's one thing I'd get here it's be the milkteaway or other plain milk teas, because I wasn't super impressed by the matcha or fruit tea. The workers are very nice but they seem understaffed so you will have to wait a bit for your drinks. The place is casual and well kept. RANG Final…read moreThoughts: 4.50/5 Review for Rang. They have weekly matcha pop ups at Rose Tea Lounge. Original location is in Elk Grove, but they are here in San Jose area. Kind of hard to see and find them? given that there aren't really any signs posted outside. I perhaps wouldn't have known about it if my friend didn't tell me about it. Drink: Guava Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This is their matcha with house-made guava puree at the bottom and topped with silky guava foam. Their foam is so nice and creamy. Felt very light and just thick enough. Silky consistency that mixed well with the drink. My friend noted that they make it fairly sweet, so I opted for the 25%. This was still quite sweet for me. Each component is sweet itself, so when you combine it, its mostly just sweet. No tartness to cut any of it. Perhaps the guava has something to do with that. Guava is a sweet fruit in general, so I seemed to expect as much. The matcha itself had a nice color to it. Very vibrant. Light bitterness. Lovely consistency overall. I like each component separately and I like them together when it's fully combined. Strawberry Matcha Einspanner: 4.5/5 This was my friends drink and I also really liked it. Had to try it for my review purposes. Per their Door Dash description, this is their matcha latte with their home-made strawberry puree and topped with velvety strawberry foam. There really wasn't much of a difference with this one and mine besides the fruit. His was slightly more tart than mine, which is something I like. Again, the drink itself leans more on the sweet side, so any sort of tartness would be nice to cut some of that. Matcha color is amazing. Nice and vibrant. Lovely silky consistency. I like the ratio of fruit flavor and matcha. Some places will make it just taste like milk, others have an imbalance of flavors. This one was just right for me. --------- Quality: Ceremonial Matcha and whisked to order We saw them whisk the matcha to order. Not really a display cooking kind of counter, but they do do all of that in the front where the cashiers are. You are able to watch if you so choose. I do like the matcha that they use, so it seems like a high quality one. That or it's because they aren't batching their matcha like other places. I understand that batching doesn't make it lower quality, but something about whisking it fresh is always better. Price: Average Will depend on the drink, but the prices are around $7 to $9. For our drinks, average around $8.25 per drink. Quite a common price range for a cup of matcha. This one was made well, so no complaints here. There was no upcharge for the oatmilk, which is always a plus for us. Service: Whisked matcha fresh No interactions today. We ordered directly on the kiosk and then just waited for our drinks to come out. Something that I like is that they whisk and make the matcha in front of us. Kind of hard to see, given my height and spot that we were standing, but they do whisk it in the front for us. Of note, they use this hand towel or cloth to wipe the bowls. Not sure how sanitation does with that, but I digress. Just an observation for today. Ambiance: Quaint Flower Café Vibes This place is giving very quaint flower café vibes. I would totally work here if I could work from home or if I needed to study. Space is incredibly spacious on the inside contrary to how the outside and plaza area is looking. Little dim lit inside, but that might be from the little lighting that's hitting through the windows given the angle and evening sun. Location/Parking: Small Plaza This place is like a pop-up/collaboration with Rose Tea Lounge. There's really no label for it outside of the storefront, but when you go into the café and on the kiosk, you can directly order from them. Kind of interesting how it works and I probably would have never seen it if my friend didn't bring me here. Location is not the best as it is right in a smaller plaza on the side of Story Road near the 101 freeway. At least they chose an area that is slightly less saturated. Vietnam Town is really close by and they really do have too much going on over there sometimes. Parking lot is also small, but it seems to work well with the smaller plaza size.
