Anywhoozies, I like the simple menu and how its laid out--Choose what drank you want (Milk tea, Flavored, slush or blizzard), level of sweetness (lite, regular or sweeet!), then choose a flavor (15 or more to choose from) & the add-ons (boba, grass jelly, star, etc.) The only thing difficult (for me) is deciding what to order XD The 1st time I ordered lychee flavored blk tea w/ boba...then the 2nd time around my indecisiveness and pressure from the line forming in the back led me to order lychee flavored tea again, lol. Both times, my tapioca pearls were nice and chewy, even a bit warm still..so its fresh and not frozen! And they give you a good amount, too! The lychee tea was very flavorful and refreshing each time! And my friends seemed to enjoy their drinks, too. I love that Teabo Cafe opened in South Davis, since I am a huge boba fan. Their tapioca, fries, and popcorn chicken are amazing! I believe they use freshly-prepared chicken and fries as they so claim. Their milk tea flavors do not taste too bad, but there is definitely room for improvement. They do make an effort though. If you stay late, someone walks around and asks you to sample drinks/snacks. Overall, a pretty good place for boba. My housemates and I go several times a week! I am very disappointed. I am not one to write negative reviews as I am patient but I am extremely irritated today with my order. I placed an online order for boba and popcorn chicken. Pick up was set about 30 minutes after I placed the order which was fine. I arrive to pick up the order and I ask about my popcorn chicken after receiving my drink and am told that the kitchen is closed until 9pm. They had all that time before I had arrived to call or notify me about it. This isn't the first time this has happened. I have showed up numerous times to be told its closed at different times during the day. It's extremely frustrating to go only to have my time wasted. The popcorn chicken is amazing but the boba is always hit or miss. Sometimes it's stale or hard, just varies on the day. The only reason I come here is because it is the only boba shop right near my apartment instead of biking all the way to downtown. I don't think they ever have A/C here. Being indoors is like being immediately propelled into a Davis summer-- hot, sweaty, oddly humid. Everything you want when you're waiting for your order, right? While the drinks are quick, the food takes forever to come out, like 15-20 minutes minimum... but that's only if the kitchen doesn't forget it along the way. Then you end up waiting 40+ minutes instead, after you've reminded them. At least the staff are super friendly. I had the Very Berry Slushie w Strawberry Stars. It tasted like over-sweetened Kool Aid. The stars are too big for the boba straw, so they get stuck )-: The Chotaro Blizzard used to be my go-to, but I think I prefer the Taro Smoothie at Mandro instead. Bathroom is really dirty. Outside seating is dirty... I feel like nobody ever comes out to clean anything. Teabo gets points for being the only boba place open past midnight, but that's about it LOL. The drinks here are lw wack, service is slow, and the facility is worn. My absolute favorite boba place in Davis! I was sad this place was not open during my time at UCD but I'm glad it's here now. I always swing by for a drink when I'm in the area, especially since it's open late! My go to drink is chotaro since it's one of the unique flavors. The boba is usually chewy and on point. When I was first in Davis, TapEx was history, Old Teahouse ruled (before there ever was a F21 and Trader Joe's over there), and Quickly was still Great Clips. The South Davis Oakshade center has been changing a lot the past year (with the move of Davis Creamery, a.k.a. Sugar Daddies, and departure of Quiznos, and now Common Grounds), with the stores Mr. Pickles and Teabo as newcomers. I'm a boba fan, but not a fanatic by any means. Actually, I prefer jelly additions (rainbow if possible) to boba any day. I do get a craving once in a blue moon, and these sort of places are typically open late so there's that, too. Strictly speaking, the drink I use as a standard for any boba place on the first try is Honey Milk Green Tea, sometimes Almond as a variation. I wasn't overly wowed the first time I went last month, there was a lot of milk but I could still taste the jasmine green tea flavor, not so much the honey sweetness (I like them sweet!). Gave it a second try today, from Yelper's recommendations, to go for the ChoTaro flavor (chocolate + taro). Ordered: Small ChoTaro Black Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly. $2.50+add-on $0.50 = $3 I loved it. I really did. Lord help me with my Dutch Bros. and Teabo "problems." Not my fault they're so close to work! Also, they have a stamp card system via your phone (Squareup app) that's pretty neat, on the 10th drink you get $3.50 credit. read more

Months after my original review, I am happily here with an update! Since my first visit during which I incurred a mischarge on my purchase, Teabo management reached out and contacted me regarding a mysterious extra charge on my card, and I received a refund. It turns out that I was mistakenly charged for one extra drink. Thanks, Teabo! Anyways, we're here for boba business so let's get down to it. Teabo has made such a great effort to gather input and reviews and strive to improve. Having had their drinks on the first day of opening (December 2011) and monthly until now, I can confidently say that Teabo is now vastly improved and may very well be my favorite boba place in Davis. Though it might not sound like much, it ranks higher than other long-standing boba places here and if I ever need a boba fix satisfied, I'll come here. My drink of choice: chotaro blizzard. I am addicted to this with a raging sugary passion, and can barely pass up a chance to get one and/or recommend it to my friends on occasions that we hang out here. Thanks to Erik for the recommendation! What a strange concoction of creamy purpley milk-shakiness. My only gripe may be that the drinks are not consistent. At times, the taro is perfectly balanced and the drink is nice and thick, while at others it's more watery, it is mega super sweet, or the taro isn't quite there. Nonetheless, I will still drink it. Sigh, my kryptonite. Once, I wanted to not get chotaro so I asked one of the friendly girls working what she recommended. She replied with peach mango green tea, and I was surprised that mixed flavors were an option. It was refreshing, in a very fragrant and flowery way, if you're into that. I want to try more mixed flavors next time, yay! On this same occasion, I went with a group of five other girls and spent a good amount of time there watching music videos and drinking chotaros. Later on, the manager I'm presuming, came up to us and asked us if we wanted to test out different creamers, to which my eyes bulged and the lot of us emphatically agreed to be guinea pigs. Teabo is constantly working to improve their recipes and I appreciate the fact that they provide opportunities for their patrons to contribute via taste testing milk tea. Win-win! The workers are very friendly and energetic. The space is clean and tidy. The drinks are made pretty quickly-even on $1 tea day (which was awesome)-except the line was overwhelmingly long and moved all snail-like. But the opportunity for $1 boba was greatly appreciated Teabo, please do it again. :) A last note, I've noticed that Teabo has started doing fundraisers with campus clubs as of late. I was not able to attend them, but my communications with them regarding my own club's (Popping Club :D) upcoming fundraiser was direct, pleasant, and easy. I'm looking forward to it! Teabo is probably the best place for milk tea and boba in Davis. I'd have to say it's a step above The Old Tea House and Quickly. I have enjoyed both the milk tea and the food they serve. And the people who work there are great - always friendly, patient, and helpful! Teabo serves both black and green tea with a selection of flavorings. I traditionally like black tea, but the black tea at Teabo has a bitterness or certain flavor to it that I'm not a huge fan of... so I have recently been going for the green tea. It's lighter and smoother tasting. When going for green, I suggest getting their fruit flavorings. I personally really like the honeydew flavor. Definitely refreshing. Their blizzards and slushies are also very good. The honeydew slushie used to be one of my go-to orders until I began making it a point to branch out and try different things. The food items at Teabo are great. I really like their popcorn chicken. It's not too greasy. I like to go over to the side counter and add a ton of cajun spice to it to give it a bit more flavor. My friends prefer the chicken katsu. The katsu comes breaded and sliced. There's a spicy ranch type sauce that you can dip it in that is a perfect compliment. Teabo recently introduced Thai fries to their menu. I've had a tasting of them and can attest that they are very good! It's definitely something you should give a chance when you go with friends. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, not too crowded. Got their popcorn chicken and a passion fruit green milk tea with pearls. I kinda like their popcorn chicken. It's in bigger pieces and has a flavorful taste to it. You can add rice for an extra dollar to the popcorn chicken. You get more chicken if you just get chicken though. They have a range of milk teas. I got their passion fruit green milk tea. I thought it was okay. It was lacking a bit of the passion flavor. I'm so happy that there is finally a boba place in South Davis! It's just a 5 minute walk from my apartment, so my friends and I often go here spontaneously. The staff there are wonderful. They get 5 stars! :) As for drinks, it's a hit or miss for me. My first drink ever was an almond milk tea, and it was pretty good. The guava was a bit bitter and a little funny tasting for my liking. The last time I went there, I got peach green tea with froyo popping boba. It was whatever. What's cool is that you can mix different flavors together. My friends mix chotaro (chocolate + taro) and hazelnut and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to get that next time! However, keep in mind that if you are not satisfied with your drink, they will remake it to your liking, which is awesome! I've only had their popcorn chicken once. Argh. I tried to like you, I promise! Things just didn't work out and I'm sorry, I must move on now. I had this place bookmarked and thought the perfect time to go would be after watching the avengers . Late night snacks ? Sure, those are always cool. We walked in around midnight and the place was PACKED so packed , we had to sit outside for quite some time until people started leaving . The girl at the front counter seemed like she didn't want to be there so you could already imagine customer service wasn't all that great. I ordered a mango guava tea with aloe and lychee jelly, popcorn chicken, and Thai fries to share with my bf and cousin . As soon as we got seated inside, I soon realized that it got super loud and all I could hear was the table in front of ours talking mad shit about their friend who wasn't even there. My drink didn't taste like anything special, in fact, it tasted no different from any other boba shop. The popcorn chicken was a huge disappointment . After seeing pictures, I was hoping they'd taste as good as they look but that definitely wasn't the case. Big, rock hard , dry, pieces of chicken with no flavor is how they were presented that night . Thai fries were soggy, thick, cut up fries that were drenched in both an overly sweet sauce and a strong garlicky sauce with Thai basil sprinkled on top. This is a good hang out spot with friends. I've made a lot of good memories here, which is the main reason I come back. I think the drinks are average. The only one I like is Oreo Blizzard now. I used to like Hot Vanilla Black Milk Tea but it doesn't taste the same as it used to. This is a quaint little place that sells a good variety of boba drinks and some small snacks. But my first impression was definitely the broken door that slams quite loudly. Unfortunately, no wifi here (so don't make the mistake my friend did inviting us to study here). The pros: Absolutely delicious popcorn chicken! I do wish there was a little more batter for crunchiness, but the way they had it was very satisfying as well. It goes really well with what I believe is the banana ketchup. Small is $5 and large is $7.50, so it's definitely the priciest I've ever had for popcorn chicken. My drink- Large yogurt green tea with aloe vera. Well made and quick service. The cons: No signs of pricing on their menus. The only thing I saw a pricing of was on their little paper menu (and even then I only saw prices for their snacks). I had absolutely no idea how much my drinks were going to cost. Since my large drink came out to $4, I'm surmising all of their large drinks are $4 and all their add ons are 50 cents. It'd be nice to see some menu pricing. And as aforementioned, the popcorn chicken plus other snacks were fairly pricey. Not sure if that's normal pricing here in Davis but I've been spoiled by SoCal cuisines/snacks that were just as good and cheaper. The customer service was so-so. Last night was my first time trying Teabo and I wanted to give this boba shop a chance, despite all the negative reviews I've heard about this place (sexual harassment claims and poor service/management). I came fairly late, at around 11 PM with barely any customers/orders ahead of me so I was thinking the drink would taste at least decent. I ordered one vanilla blizzard with no toppings and an order of their popcorn chicken. I've worked as a bobarista before so I know how simple the recipe for most blended drinks is, unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. It was extremely icy and lacked vanilla flavoring immensely. Not sure if they use vanilla powder or vanilla syrup, I'm guessing it's a syrup based on how many syrup bottles I noticed there. Either way, they need to update their recipe and add a lot more... because I'm not overexaggerating when I say this but my partner and I could not taste any vanilla. At that point, we were just drinking watery ice with a dash of vanilla... The popcorn chicken was okay! A bit spicy for my taste, but nothing to diss on. Aside from how sauces aren't free, but a 50 cent charge per sauce (it's pretty small too). Anyways, I surely won't be giving Teabo another chance, especially considering there are so many other boba places around Davis. What do I recommend? My favorite part about this place is the late hours for boba and the bumping of kpop music and music videos. The boba is always delicious (I recommend taro blizzard with boba) and the popcorn chicken always hits the spot for me. With that being said. I've come with friends who don't care for their food and just want the boba and that's fine too. The food isn't exquisite or something you must have but more of a good pairing for your boba if you decide to eat there or after a long night downtown you just want a nightcap. The hours are always reliable and they don't really have super short hours because its summer. They stay busy and that's what makes this place awesome. If you want some late night foods and boba or just want boba on a hot day then at least check this place out. The location is a little out of the way but at the same time it's a nice location.
