Every flavor was delicious in its own way and it made it so hard to pick! Luckily, most of the cup sizes allow you to atleast pick two flavors which makes it worthwhile! Attached to the Varsity Theatre, Icekrimski Cafe is an old haunt of my sweet tooth. A regular gelato runs you about $7 now. You can choose up to 2 flavors for the small or regular size cup, or 3 flavors in the biggest size. They had about 8 gelatos and 4 sorbetto flavors: dark chocolate, vanilla bean, stracciatella, coconut macadamia, green tea, creme brulee, cookie dough, Bavarian mint, strawberry, mango, lemon, and raspberry. This visit I got the Bavarian Mint and Dark Chocolate. They do offer free samples to try before committing (up to 3). The mint totally reminded me of Andes candy, loved it and the chocolate was rich too. Love the little wafer they always use to top it off. I always have to stop by and grab some dessert after dinner. I love gelato so I had to go here. It has been over a decade since the last time I've been here so I don't remember too much. I was only able to have 2 samples which is understandable. I tried the Cherry and the Coppa Mista. I didn't prefer the cherry so I ended up getting 2 flavors of the coppa Mista and the Mango sorbet. Coppa mista, which the Employee described it as, an Almond croissant. which had features of the taste. Both Flavors weren't as bad! I shouldn't have added both flavors together which is my bad (Milk and fruit sorbet.) From these 2 flavors I thought they were a bit too sweet for my taste buds especially the sorbet. Mango flavor was present but it was just too sweet for my liking. The Coppa Mista did taste like an almond croissant but very subtle. Honestly, If they never told me I would have had not noticed or picked up on it. No bathroom in the small gelato shop. No seating inside but there are many seating in downtown Davis. Price are above average for Gelato and especially during these times. Verdict Overall, It's not a bad spot for dessert / Gelato. I'd go here again to try another flavor. I am such a huge fan of Icekrimski. It is the most adorable little gelato shop that has never failed to make a good day even better. The workers are consistently so sweet, they let you try any flavor you'd like, and I've found they are super helpful if you have questions about flavor preferences, especially in recommending flavor pairings. The flavors change weekly, but the Bavarian mint is one of my absolute favorites, as well as the classic dark chocolate. The gelato always comes with a little wafer as all good gelato should, and of soured there are the neon little gelato spoons that tie the whole experience together. They are also right next door to the Varsity theater - another staple, with a window into the theatre's lobby to order from. It's a rich, chocolate taste with the tiniest cappuccino chips mixed in. It's going to be much more on the sweet side, so if you're looking for a stronger coffee taste, I would recommend the Espresso flavor that they offer instead. 3. Vanilla Bean Honestly, vanilla bean will always be a timeless, classic flavor. You can never go wrong with this one and it pairs nicely with so many kinds of flavors ! The gelato itself is THICK as it should be and the different flavors that they offer are what set the bar for me. I usually get a child's cup and it's cool how they will still allow you to get two flavors for you to try out! I also want to mention their amazing customer service! I always feel welcomed when I come in for a treat. This is definitely one of the gems in Davis. I have been coming here since my first year at davis - and have been getting it a lot more recently. I have lived in Davis for 2 years now and had no idea this place existed. It's tucked away right next to the Varsity theater in downtown. The only reason I spotted it is because they're one of the dessert places in Davis open a little later (9:30pm). I got the matcha and the Stracciatella. As one of *those people* who actually loves plain old vanilla ice cream, the stracciatella was amazing because the chocolate chips were dispersed in a way that added bursts of rich chocolate flavor, but didn't overwhelm the vanilla at the same time. I actually highly recommend it. The matcha was good as well (although personally I could have gone for a stronger matcha flavor, this is a good level for someone getting matcha for the first time). The employee was friendly and offered me a mask when I came in. They do still require masks in store but will do flavor tastings anyway. If you forget yours, they have plenty handy and will give you one. read more

Their flavors rotate so if you have a favorite, you might want to call in advance. My wife crosses her fingers every time, hoping tiramisu is on the daily menu. But, the classics are always available. Dark chocolate, vanilla bean, cookie dough, and of course, strawberry. Strawberry Fresca Gelato (Grade A+): It comes in 3 different sizes, but I don't even bother with the child's size any longer. I appreciate they don't weight the servings -- they just scoop and whatever you get, you get. And usually, it's a very generous portion. You can taste the fresh strawberries in every spoonful. It's denser than ice cream and the flavors are much more intense than the American cold treat. If you like strawberries, this Italian dessert will not disappoint. Although gelato has a higher sugar content than ice cream, it's not at all overly sweet or overpowering. Don't forget the little wafer wedge cookie. The texture was not like true Italian gelato, but it was close. It was very creamy and smooth but did not have the same amount of sugar that authentic Italian gelato has. I was able to sample a few flavors. I tried the cinnamon, cookies and cream, and the vanilla. The cinnamon was such an interesting flavor. Because I am simple, I always go with what I know, I ended up getting the cookies and cream. Overall very good! There are a few places to sit inside of the shop. There are 2 small tables. There's literally so many to choose from; it was a difficult decision! I ended up going with the Children's size cup with Coppa Mista and Honey Lavender flavors for $4. It also came with a cute, triangular cookie which is definitely great for pictures! The flavors complimented each other well and it was actually really rich, and a heavier dessert than I anticipated. So I'm glad I went with the Children's size. The shop was rather warm for a gelato shop, I expected it to be cool, especially since it was about 90 degrees outside. It smelled like popcorn inside since it's next to the theater, which was kinda off-putting. I also noticed some flavors were pretty empty.. seems like for a Saturday evening they should have a greater stock. Some of the flavors looked like they were melting too, which was odd. When it was our turn we sampled a few flavors and the employee told us a little about each flavor. He said we could even get half of one flavor and half of another. My boyfriend liked the Coppa Mista and I liked the Carmello Chocolate Crunch so we got a child size with half of each. The employee said coppa mista means "mixed cup", so it was a combination of chocolate, vanilla, pistachio and almond. He said it tastes like an almond croissant, and it did! My boyfriend likes almond croissants so he enjoyed it. I'm not typically a chocolate girl, but I liked how the carmello chocolate crunch had little balls of crunchy chocolate (it was an airy crunch, like maybe they were rice?). If there was a caramel flavor, I probably would've gotten that. I was kinda surprised they didn't have typical flavors like pistachio, but maybe they switch them up. I'm not sure. Each gelato comes with a cookie/wafer/crisp on top which was very tasty. Adds some nice texture. It's very light and you can see the layers. The child size to share was plenty. This is an amazingly delicious gelato shop! If you've never had gelato, as the sign on their counter will inform you, "gelato contains 20% air, while ice cream can contain up to 80% air." So this is the perfect creamy treat for those who love rich desserts and eating them with the tiniest of plastic spoons. It's an incredibly small shop, but they have several flavors to choose from, along with an assortment of bulk candy. The candy seems like the perfect treat to accompany you on a movie at the Varsity theater next door. It's absolutely adorable that they have a window that opens into the movie theater lobby. You can order gelato or candy and bring it into the theater! So fun! A child's size cup is $4 and is the perfect size if you're not feeling too hungry. You can choose up to two flavors with every size and three flavors if you pick the large. The sign also says 3 free samples per person. I'm not sure how strictly they follow that rule, but I did only sample 3: Double Espresso Bean (wonderful coffee flavor), S'mores (delicious and had lots of marshmallow), and Chocolate Hazelnut (didn't taste like Nutella, as I was expecting, just chocolate). I settled on Black Cherry and Vanilla (based on trying my husband's samples), and I loved that combo! He chose the Mango sorbetto (intensely fabulous mango flavor) and Vanilla. They put a waffle cone triangle on top of your gelato, which is a beautiful and crunchy touch, and the employee wasn't skimpy with filling the cup either! There's one table inside the shop and two tables and benches outdoors. Remember, it's really tiny inside and feels very crowded if more than 4 people are ordering. A lot of other ice cream joints I've been don't allow that. The dark chocolate was so decadent and creamy, no complaints it was just a heaven in my mouth. The ginger had a nice crunchy texture with a good amount of ginger flavor, personally I wish it was more gingery. My only complaint is that the cash register wasn't very enthusiastic, I wish he was a bit more welcoming and offered samples. It must not get too busy here because the guy who served us walked over from the theater side. They don't really have much signage outside besides a frosted logo on the door, so I think Icekrimski can be easily missed by people driving by. The place smells like popcorn, because of the theater, of course. There are plenty of gelato options, from sweet to fruity. I went with the Bavarian mint. Chocolatey and minty, yum! They have 4 different cup sizes. They also have candy jars with different types of candy that line the walls. And at the register, they have a pitcher of cold water and tiny cups to wash down your gelato after :) The gelato cups come with a waffle cookie. Today was my fourth time here :) I love coming to this place occasionally when I bring my friend's here for their first time as a mini-treat! I'm a pretty adventurous person when it comes to food and love trying new and unique flavors. I've been to a few other gelato places such as Marco Polo(best homemade fruit flavors!) & Holy Gelato in SF and I like this gelato shop almost just as much :) FOOD: the gelato flavors here are more Italian based (it IS Italian sorbet haha) with flavors such as stracciatella (chocolate chips), pistachio just to name a few. They also have flavors such as green tea, cookies and cream, tiramisu, etc. The 4 times, I've been here, I have gotten half-half of 2 different flavors in child size $3.95 which is the perfect amount of gelato for one sitting. I love how all the flavors I've tried are rich and dense and not overly sweet. Also LOVE the waffle biscuit it comes with! Adds a perfect crunch to the softness. Water is also provided!
