In the college town of Davis behind the historic Dresbach-Hunt-Boyer mansion (2nd and E Street) is a two story business complex. The complex has some restaurants & eateries, professional offices, and Ho Ho Mart. The Mart sells Asian groceries, liquor, and lottery tickets. The mart is super tiny and compact but impressively stocked with Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian, and Middle Eastern groceries (less fresh produce). Things that caught my eye was the extensive selection of Middle Eastern spices, Asian snacks and drinks, and liquor. I didn't walk down the liquor aisle so I have no idea if it was Asian liquor. Overall, a great spot to grab affordable Asian snacks and cold drinks. It's located in the heart of Davis' downtown amongst the lively hubbub. read more

On our calendar, today marks a full moon. On the lunar calendar, did you know the Moon Festival is right around the corner? Thank heavens Ho Ho Market is near, and well stocked. And yes, we found Moon Cakes here!!! For those of you that unfamiliar, the mid autumn festival is celebrated in the middle of September to early October. This observance is an opportunity to give thanks for the harvest (plus peace and prosperity). We were super lucky that someone more familiar (could read Chinese and translate) was in this aisle the same time we were trying to decide which flavor of moon cake to get. So many varieties to choose from...standard red bean, mixed nuts, or lotus. This nice young man pointed out a new flavor, rose...so we tried that. Pleased to see the variety of items being sold here. Oh my god. If you're looking for some obscure, hard to find Asian products in Davis, this is definitely the place. It's pretty small and in a corner where you might not see it, but it's chock full of goodies that I don't usually find even in an SF super or 99 ranch. This shop is very adorable and feels like a hidden treasure. It's a little hard to find at first, but it's hidden in a corner on the first level. It has a nice selection of snacks, candy, and ramen. I'm sure there were other items but I ignored them in favor of the goodies hehe. I definitely recommend to the owner to include a cheap ready-to-eat lunches section. I don't frequent Asian stores that much, but the prices seem to be on the cheap/reasonably priced end. I will definitely be coming here more often to restock my snack drawer. I docked a star BC I noticed I was charged more for an item than was stated in the aisle. (I believe it was the matcha pocky) It's a pet peeve of mine when items and their prices do not match. This is a great place to stop by if you're ever in downtown Davis. The staff is always nice and the store is always very clean and welcoming. It's easy to miss as it's hidden away, but it's definitely worth checking out. Sometimes I would come here after a shift at T4 or with friends to grab cold drinks, yummy snacks, ramen, or ice cream. I believe they're also the only store in Davis that has brown sugar boba ice cream! Definitely one of the best asian marts in Davis. Check it out! read more

This is my first time also definitely last time to visit here. It's nice to see Asian (Chinese) convenience store in Davis. The store is small but has almost all kinds of snacks Chinese people/students need. This is the good thing. However, the price tag system is a disaster and I am really disappointed. I was craving for some milk tea and bought the milk tea (red bean). The price tag under the product is milk tea (taro) $3.99. There is no correct price tags around. Also there is no milk tea (taro) on the shelf. So I thought it makes sense to assume the milk tea (red bean) is $3.99 too. When I checked out, the price is $4.99. I asked the lady to double-check. She said sorry, not all products have price tags. Let me address the fact again, there is no price tag $4.99 nearby this product at all. I am not saying the store does this on purpose, but the experience I had was so disappointing. This is not the only case. Another product marinated lotus root associated with a price tag $5.99 but shows $9.xx when I checked out, and I cancelled that product. read more

Small mini grocery store. This grocery store is very similar to Kim's Mart, except without the Korean Togo section. They sell a lot of usual Asian goodies such as Hello Panda, Yan Yan and Pocky Sticks! These little Asian snacks are so nostalgic and brings back some many childhood memories. In addition, they have a large selection of drinks ranging from soda to your typical Asian drink - Calpico!! They also have many sauces to choose from such as sriracha sauce, oyster sauce, hoi sin sauce and of course soy sauce and many others that will keep the list going... However, parking is not as convenient as I would like but there should be parking spaces nearby as this place is a grab and go type of store. I don't see why anyone would spend more than thirty minutes inside the store, unless they really need to distract themselves from studying haha... I wish this place sold prepared Togo food, then it'll be in real competition with Kim's Mart. When midterms are coming up and I need some goodies, this is the place I'm going to be visiting! read more

So happy another Asian store has arrived!! They have a good selection of snacks. Usually, I have to go to Sacramento to get certain things I'm looking for. It's a cute little shop that's tucked underneath the little plaza. They have aisles for snacks like chips, cookies, crackers, candy, pocky. Another one for the different rice and noodles, the many different ramen, they even have a fridge for frozen things like mochi, dumplings, meatballs. I love the many different types of sauces they have for cooking, the pickled side dishes, instant soups and they even have all the different types of drinks and teas. It's a good decent variety of items there. The worker there is uber friendly and polite. I love they have snacks that remind me of my childhood. And their prices are much cheaper too which is nice. read more

Great variety of Asian snacks. Coming from UC Santa Cruz I got so excited when I was in Davis and saw that they had a convenience store full of Asian snacks for students. What specifically caught my eye here was the many different types of ramen they had. So if i would ever run out there's always a store that I know for sure that I can always go to stock up on my supply lol Besides ramen they have pocky, soups. dried fruit, chips, drinks, and condiments. One of the few places in Davis to get Japanese snacks. This place should have more reviews. Cute lil place to get snacks that is open late. It's surprisingly open late too. The cashier was friendly. There was matcha ice cream, taro ice cream, thai tea ice cream, mochi ice cream, a bunch of Japanese sodas/drinks, lots of pocky, Asian chips/snacks. Variety is for snacks is overall great, especially for the small store-space they have! However, I wished they offered more variety of 2-minute noodles etc. Would be nice to see pre-packaged baked goods too, but not yet! Still feels like the store is still getting a feel of what the Davis community wants/needs. Also, don't come here expecting any hot food options! I talked to the manager and he seemed really nice and hopeful about the store. He said that once the store has a sink and food prep space, they'll start looking into prepared foods. (I will be waiting lol) If you're looking for matcha flavored kitkats, THIS IS WHERE THEY ARE AT. They also have other pocky flavors, and more savory snacks like wasabi peas and dried squid. These kind of things are so hard to find.. unless you actually will drive to Sacramento for them. I'll be coming back for their authentic matcha powder soonish! This is a hidden gem that is greatly needed in the Davis community. If you ever wanted Asian snacks, you would have to drive to Sacramento or the Bay Area to get those items! The manager is very nice and receptive on items you're wanting to get. I'm excited because I asked for natto (Japanese fermented soybeans with A LOT if health benefits) and he's doing his best to order some! The items I usually stick up on are the Thai sour and spicy Tom Yum ramen, the chili fried fish with kefir leaves, Thai ice tea, and especially Huy Fong Sriracha hot sauce! Every time I go, there are new items in stock. Occasionally, there might be samples given on the countertop. Also, they also partnered up with a skateboard/long board maker, and sells some of their boards hanging in the wall. read more

Great place to go to get Asian snacks and food. Prices are a little more but not by too much. One thing I like over them vs Kims Mart is that there is no credit limit where Kims Mart has the $10 minimum credit for credit usage. Very convenient and they carry great stock. read more

+/- THE VARIETY They have a LOT of the Chinese snacks I grew up eating! With that being said, it's mainly Chinese products they sell with very few Indian and Japanese items. Since the store is still rater new, they don't have a lot of other things aside from snacks and ramen. They currently have 2 fridges- one for drinks and one for hot pot meat balls but are trying to expand so that they have a full wall of fridges! + THE ENVIRONMENT Small shop but right in the middle of downtown. It's a bit hard to find initially because they don't have any signs up. + THE PRICES Way cheaper than Kim's Mart! They don't jack up the prices like crazy and you pay for what you get. This is pretty much as cheap as the things you would find in Chinatown! read more

A fun market for a variety of Asian supplies to make your favorite curry, pad Thai, or sushi. With good prices and very kind help I think this is a good market for your Asian food needs. While it is smaller than other Asian markets and doesn't have produce or fresh seafood there are good condiments and candies/sweets available. read more

Great variety of Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean snacks! One thing caught my eyes was the huge ramen collection. Ranging from Thai ramen to HK ramen, def have to go back when my ramen stock at home running low. They have some snacks you might not be able to see in ranch 99. So if you crave for some home snacks, they will be the place to go. Recommend: pocky ( they have lots special flavor pocky), matcha kitkat, seng yong milk candy, various gummy fruit candy, Meiji chocolate. And all the RAMEN.
