You can also find tropical fruit like mango, rambutan and lychee -- some fresh, some canned. There are also many fresh ingredients like garlic, lemongrass, Thai limes, Thai peppers and a wide variety of mushrooms. Again, all are at a good price. Stopped off at this little Asian market while in Davis trying to find some ChaCha sunflower seeds. Kind of a small market, had a decent amount of product although lacking in some of the variety I was hoping for and am used to at other asian markets. Store was clean, I did find a larger variety of Soju than I normally have seen , so I picked up a bottle of the Melon Soju for $5.50, which seems about par for prices I have seen in other stores for other Soju. I also bought a couple of 10 packs of snacking Nori that were on sale for $4 The counter was staffed by a couple of young adults , seemed maybe college age, who asked if I found what I was looking for . I stopped by Kim's Mart around 10 in the morning on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. The inside is nice and clean and well organized enough to find your way around. I was looking for a quick on the go snack and picked up a box of Kimbap ($4) from the prepared foods. Service was welcoming and quick and I was in and out within a few minutes. My parents had to travel to SF Chinatown for stockpiling shopping excursions. Kim's Mart is an Asian grocery mini mart with a focus on Korean food. It's located in downtown Davis. They have a huge variety of groceries in a compact shop. The staff is extremely helpful. Plus the shop is well organized and super clean. The shop carrys snacks, frozen food, fresh produce, fresh made food, ramen packages, bowls/plates, kitchenware, canned food, sauces, shelf staples... so much. The snack aisle alone is a sight to see with its variety of chips (shrimp, potato, etc) and there is another aisle for candy and cookies. The selection of fresh produce is seasonal and is limited. Plus not a daily common item. Got noodles? They do! Ramen, rice, wheat, etc. The hot prepared food are galibi and rice plates, Kim Bap, California rolls, and tuna rolls. Those are served daily and set out in the morning. So once they are gone for the day, that's it until tomorrow. The prices are competitive to the big box Asian grocery stores with some items significant marked lower. No, not because of expiration dates, I checked everything I saw and didn't see any issues. I can't express how much I love having this little Asian hub in Davis. Considering how small the location is, it has almost everything that you need. I always come here when I am missing one vital ingredient in whatever I'm making, whether that be Japanese Vietnamese, Korean or Chinese food. I'm really grateful that they have some fresh herbs and vegetables too if needed as well as a variety of Asian sauces, noodles and grains. They also have a decent collection of instant noodles and frozen food as well. Obviously, it's not stocked like your massive Asian superstore like H Mart, but it has all the essentials you need when you need a few things here and there and you're not looking to do a huge grocery haul. I've also picked up some of the prepared foods inside dishes here. The kimbap is all right, not huge portions, but is a good snack size. The tteokbokki is just OK in my opinion. I found the side dishes in the marinated meats to be really good though, if you're planning to do a KBBQ at home situation. The staff is always really friendly and prompt and the story is clean and pretty well organized. No boxes on the ground, which is nice. read more

I love browsing around at local mini grocery stores (especially Asian), whenever I am in a new city or country. It's a thing that I do. Let me tell you, I had the most memorable chocolate bar and potatoes chips in Italy from a rest area mega grocery store when we drove from Venice to Dubrovnik. Also, I needed bok choy and ginger, which they have both! I am impressed how clean and tidy the store is. Also, they carry a little big of everything. They even have the Soon Tofu soup kit that I didn't expect to find here. The prices are decent too, if not cheaper than Sacramento/Elk Grove. I was also happy to see a nice prepared food section. I forgot to take a picture but they have sushi rolls, kimchi fried rice, marinated meats and banchan items. Really cheap japchae, looks like homemade kimchi in the back, unique asian treats like binggrae and samango. I got the 2 lbs jujubes at only $5 and they were delicious, better than the ones I've had in the bag recently and as good as the ones in China. The guy at the counter was really nice. Conveniently placed downtown, a small grocery store stocked with all the essential Asian pantry items and many aromatics that can't be found anywhere else in Davis. I usually come here only when I need a few fresh items and I am not going to Sacramento or Vacaville for my usual Asian groceries. The quality of their produce is always reliable...faves include the bok choy, kaffir lime leaves, and mushroom selection. However, the options across products are pretty limited compared to what I am used to. This place is a fair option for those who can't get out of town although the prices are steep. Kim's recently finished their renovations and the store is HUGE! For those of us who went in previous years, it is MUCH brighter and has more space in the aisles now. When I'm in town, this is my go-to for kimbap, ramen, soju and of course Pepero. They done locked up Grandma Kim back there so she could slave away making those side dishes because it tastes so good. You know the kimchi recipe is locked down because sometimes you catch them on a day where the kimchi is freshly made and it still tastes good pre-fermented. It is difficult to get Korean food in Davis, but Kim's Mart really delivers classic banchans to offer that homestyle Korean cooking. The ingredients are always clean and simple but the goodness comes in the proportion of the seasonings from that indentured grandma they have to have cooking in the back. I love Kim's Mart! It's my go-to stop for Asian groceries, snacks, etc. in Davis. This sweet little shop has withstood COVID and a break-in earlier this year! The prices have gone up through the years, but that's understandable considering it's pretty much the only small-business Asian grocery store in town + because of inflation. Pretty much all of my needs can be met here, and I enjoy their rotating supply of certain goods like gejang! I made ganjang gejang with them and it was super delicious, no stomach aches to be had. Their produce is fresh, and I'm a huge fan of their $2.99 bag of peeled garlic cloves! Makes cooking super easy. I love Kim's mart! It's a great place to get a cheap lunch that you can buy with EBT. I used to bike from campus to Kim's to grab lunch, usually a box of Kimbap, strawberry calpico, and a tin of seaweed salad. The kimchi fried rice is also very good though you can't get it with EBT, and you have to get there right when they make it to nab one since they get purchased so quickly. Love the Asian snack selection, furikake, and bags of rice here as well! 99 ranch has better prices but it's so much further away. read more

I usually come here when I'm making pho and need to source some bean sprouts, ginger, and thai basil. They also have a great selection of tofu and Asian snacks. I must confess that I try to avoid the snack aisle so I can avoid temptation though. I think that they also have the infamous boba ice cream bars. Located in the center of downtown Davis, there's a lot behind the store with 2 hour parking, as well as plenty of street parking. The store is small, but homey. I can usually find everything that I need. Plenty of bike parking as well, and conveniently located near campus. I saw that they had a small kitchen in the back and someone was making fresh warm Korean lunch items. I saw kimbap, buchimgae, rice/beef/chicken lunch sets all priced so reasonable and looked so fresh and delicious! Their produce section was rather limited , but I was surprised at what they did have and , mostly looked fresh . The people here are very friendly . They have almost everything you'll need for a good Chinese or Korean meal. Although they're clearly a Korean owned market, they also have a lot of Chinese items like sauces, noodles, shabu shabu / hot pot meat, fish balls, etc. ; I understand that Korean meals also include these items, but the characters of the package were Chinese so I wanted to highlight this! The big bonuses of this shop, imo, is their banchan area, their shabu shabu / hot pot meat, and sauce section. For the size of the store, they have fit quite a lot! It's about 10 aisles of items with multiple freezers in the back (I think 7-8 freezers) and a few coolers in the middle back areas - for meats and ice creams. It is probably best to bring cash here, but they do accept card. Anything under $10 will require you to pay in cash or pay a card fee. You can easily buy over $10 worth of items here. Generally speaking, nothing was egregiously overpriced. However, you can get better prices elsewhere. If you have a car, driving to Country Square Market in Vacaville will give you far more options. However, Kim's does offer items that Country Square doesn't: homemade food items (I assume are homemade) and hot pot meat!! Such a find! read more
