Kim's Mart is a Korean based grocery store that carries various Asian food items, with more emphasis on Korean products. They have prepared foods such as Kimbap, kimchi and various banchan. It's not a large market, but for Asian food in Davis, it provides the necessities. Employees here are always nice and helpful. If you are looking for some Asian food items, particularly Korean based items, there is a good chance they may carry it. I like their banchan and kimbap.

I can never get enough of small mom n pop Asian grocery marts. As a person of a certain generation, I didn't grow up with grocery diversity in the States. My parents had to travel to SF Chinatown for stockpiling shopping excursions. Kim's Mart is an Asian grocery mini mart with a focus on Korean food. It's located in downtown Davis. They have a huge variety of groceries in a compact shop. The staff is extremely helpful. Plus the shop is well organized and super clean. The shop carrys snacks, frozen food, fresh produce, fresh made food, ramen packages, bowls/plates, kitchenware, canned food, sauces, shelf staples... so much. The snack aisle alone is a sight to see with its variety of chips (shrimp, potato, etc) and there is another aisle for candy and cookies. The selection of fresh produce is seasonal and is limited. Plus not a daily common item. Got noodles? They do! Ramen, rice, wheat, etc. The hot prepared food are galibi and rice plates, Kim Bap, California rolls, and tuna rolls. Those are served daily and set out in the morning. So once they are gone for the day, that's it until tomorrow. The prices are competitive to the big box Asian grocery stores with some items significant marked lower. No, not because of expiration dates, I checked everything I saw and didn't see any issues. Overall a gem of a market ideal for any community.

I love browsing around at local mini grocery stores (especially Asian), whenever I am in a new city or country. It's a thing that I do. Let me tell you, I had the most memorable chocolate bar and potatoes chips in Italy from a rest area mega grocery store when we drove from Venice to Dubrovnik. Also, I needed bok choy and ginger, which they have both! I am impressed how clean and tidy the store is. Also, they carry a little big of everything. They even have the Soon Tofu soup kit that I didn't expect to find here. The prices are decent too, if not cheaper than Sacramento/Elk Grove. I was also happy to see a nice prepared food section. I forgot to take a picture but they have sushi rolls, kimchi fried rice, marinated meats and banchan items. Being near UC Davis, they have an excellent selection of instant noodles, frozen food quick meals and soju (lol). Hidden gem. Parking is limited as this is a busy area.

Really cheap japchae, looks like homemade kimchi in the back, unique asian treats like binggrae and samango. I got the 2 lbs jujubes at only $5 and they were delicious, better than the ones I've had in the bag recently and as good as the ones in China. The guy at the counter was really nice. Ambiance is quiet and friendly.

Hats off to Kim's Market! This small market keeps the Davis community stocked with Asian foods and drinks you won't find at Safeway. When I'm in town, this is my go-to for kimbap, ramen, soju and of course Pepero. You'll probably find the sajangnim (boss), Mrs. Kim, manning the cash register and pointing you in the right direction to whatever you need. She's awesome. It's amazing how much a small Mom and Pop market can pack onto its shelves. You have got to check out Kim's in downtown Davis!

Stir-fried Fish Cake, Japchae, Cucumbers

They done locked up Grandma Kim back there so she could slave away making those side dishes because it tastes so good. You know the kimchi recipe is locked down because sometimes you catch them on a day where the kimchi is freshly made and it still tastes good pre-fermented. It is difficult to get Korean food in Davis, but Kim's Mart really delivers classic banchans to offer that homestyle Korean cooking. The ingredients are always clean and simple but the goodness comes in the proportion of the seasonings from that indentured grandma they have to have cooking in the back. Kim's mart also supplements for the large gap in specialty food products that is not readily available in the major grocery stores that only carry a sliver of Asian food.

Kimchi
Roger Y.

If kimchi is your thing, this is your place. Their house made kimchi and radish kimchi are some of the best. They come in pints to gallon jugs. There are also many varieties of banchan next to the grab and go trays of kimbap and japchae great for quick meals. The mix of merchandise has expanded gradually over the year especially in Chinese cooking sauces and condiments. The fresh produce section is still limited however. I like having a convenient place in town to pick up that one ingredient or something very similar to save me a drive to Sacramento.

Gejang (

I love Kim's Mart! It's my go-to stop for Asian groceries, snacks, etc. in Davis. This sweet little shop has withstood COVID and a break-in earlier this year! The prices have gone up through the years, but that's understandable considering it's pretty much the only small-business Asian grocery store in town + because of inflation. Pretty much all of my needs can be met here, and I enjoy their rotating supply of certain goods like gejang! I made ganjang gejang with them and it was super delicious, no stomach aches to be had. Their produce is fresh, and I'm a huge fan of their $2.99 bag of peeled garlic cloves! Makes cooking super easy. They're also the only place in town that always has specific Asian veggies and ingredients, like kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass, thai chilis, perilla leaves, etc. If you're ever looking for something Asian, stop by Kim's Mart for sure!

I'm guessing wine tastings are mainly what the vineyard offers, but it would've been nice to have the choice explained first. This is where my 2/5 stars comes in. They only had one person serving about 12 tables. My party was only a group of 2, but there were other tables with groups as large as 9 people. It literally took 25 minutes to receive my second pour, and the only reason we got it was because I had to remind the staff. I think having at least two people pouring wine would make the experience much smoother. Upon arrival, they also have a small parking area for non-reserved parking. Luckily, we were able to find a close spot. As for the restroom, personally I'm not a fan of unisex bathrooms, and they also did not have seat covers available. Overall, the staff was friendly, but the service and organization could definitely be improved. Apart from all this, I have visited multiple wineries in Livermore, which is closer to the Bay Area, and their wine bottles are much cheaper. Their wine tasting options are also more affordable. This is just my personal experience and opinion overall I don't think I would consider coming back.

It was a cold afternoon/evening in December, but we dressed warmly and stayed by the firepit. There were maybe 4-6 other clusters of people there also, and definitely another birthday party going on because the guests were singing along loudly to a special request playlist that the staff played on the speaker for them. I thought it was a good number of people considering how cold and dark it got. Our group brought a bunch of kids, and they pretty much explored the grounds the whole time -- feeding the animals, making friends with other kids, and having a blast. Food from the food truck was fine, just be careful leaving your food out unattended because some random dog gobbled our burger when we weren't looking. It's a beautiful spot. We should all be so grateful for having access to it, basically for free. Drinks were good. Good vibes. Super relaxing to be out in nature. Friendly staff. As of this review, you can reserve areas for parties/events for free, and you can bring in your own food and drinks, excluding alcohol, of course, since they are a brewery. There's something about the frolicking farm ambiance here that reminds me of the Aliki Farms skit from the 1st episode Portlandia.* So how do I know about Ruhstaller Farm? A friend I homebrewed with for years lives in Dixon. Being beer nerds enough to brew it ourselves, we'd stumbled across Ruhstaller beers a long time ago. That early stuff was rough.
