Ill challenge you to find a better liquor store than bros liquor! I Stopped by bros liquor yesterday. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner Gippy. This dude is as hospitable as can be. He let me know about all of the upcoming releases they are getting and so much more. He told me about this " new era" store pick that he had. I was a little skeptical because it was a $100 bottle, but Gippy reassured me that if I didnt like it he would refund me my money. Well after having a sip. He was right. Its phenomenal. I was also able to pick up a brand new and highly sought after Elijah Craig that not many stores in California have received yet. The selection at the store is great, the prices are solid, and the customer service is top tier! Lastly, to top it off Gippy threw in a free glass to enjoy this delicious whiskey in. read more

Gippy and Bros Liquor are absolutely amazing. I contacted BL online and was almost immediately contacted by Gippy. Super great person, knowledgeable, friendly, and serious about making a great connection with his clients. I was so impressed, instead of taking him up on free delivery offfer, I made the drive to meet him and the shop in person. This place is a sleeper indeed - impressive collection of hard to find stock - Gippy was able to secure a japanese bottle that I was prepared to purchase from Singapore given the rare, almost impossible to find in the US, allocations. I grabbed a Jack Daniel's single barrel barrel proof per the clerks suggestion and that's when I realized there was way more than just Jameson out there. Went back a few more times to grab each different Elijah Craig barrel proof batch. Then the guy introduced me to a store pick of 1792 full proof. Contacted customer service because I selected express shipping but was told that express shipping is not honored with the free shipping over $200 orders. This place has everything. I'm a bit of a bourbon snob, and I was blown away by how many rare bourbons they had. Scotches and tequilas, too, although I know much less about those. The man at the counter was very friendly; he talked, joked, and even let me go behind the counter and look at every bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof to see the batch number. I ended up getting ECBP A122 for $79 (which I'm very excited to try) and Old Grand-Dad 114 for $33 (which I haven't been able to find anywhere). I went back the same day with my dad, and the man at the counter remembered me. He bantered with us, answered my dad's questions, and offered to show us the rare bourbons that aren't on display. We walked away with a great haul, and he even gave us a 30% discount on a great bottle of Booker's Pinkie's Batch that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The inside is clean, well lit, and well organized. There's a decent amount of parking right outside. Anyone interested in high-quality liquor should check this place out! Ok to be totally fair these guys do have some great prices on their liquor and they are nice people. I'm writing this review because I'm mad that they sell soda that is from 2019. It was totally hot today, almost 100, and I stopped by to get a cold drink. I grabbed a Sunkist and a Big Red both priced at $.99 each. I paid for it and went back out in the heat about half a block I opened the Big Red and it made no noise but thought nothing of it. I took one drink and it was so stale and flat it made me sick. I took a good look at the bottle and it had a offer on it that you can make e-cash for every two bottles. This offer was good from the dates 5-31-19 to 10-31-19. There is no exp date but with this info on the bottle I take it it was made sometime in 2019. It for sure tasted like it. Yuck yuck yuck! read more

I was reviewing their great beer selection when the clerk, a man with glasses and a head scarf, started yelling at me. I couldn't be more confused, and couldn't immediately understand why he was yelling at me or what he was saying. I then understood that he felt I was there too long and was yelling at me for it, and to be fair I was there for 10 minutes or so trying to pick out a craft beer. I'm not sure why he was agitated, but he definitely took it out on me. His aggression definitely shocked me, and made me feel terrible. Pretty annoying review to write. Was waiting in line at the pole line location, the guy who just checked out forgot to buy an item so I let him go back and buy it. I placed my items down to wait since they were cold. The guy in front of me leaves , I pick up my items to walk to the register but two girls walk in and cut me off. Instead of the cashier speaking up and saying I was next, he chats with them about a Christmas party and does their order. So when I get to the counter, I said those girls cut me off in line you knew I was next. The cashier said "yes I know BUT they were girls and I can't say anything to girls. If it was a man I would say something but they were girls I don't say anything"... ok well, I'm a girl? Why are you now suddenly talking rude to me? I was looking for a specialty bottle of bourbon (Blanton's) for my hubby for Valentine's Day. The big liquor stores and local grocery stores did not carry it. I found it online but hadn't figured out how to ship alcohol from out of state (didn't look too hard). Called Davis Wine and Spirits. Singh answered and said they had Blanton's! I drove over expecting a small, dark, dusty liquor store (stereotype from tv) and was thrilled to walk in to this beautiful, organized, bright and super clean liquor store! I think I can pretty much get anything that I need last minute from here. I've found rice vinegar to fresh eggs available for a decent price. Ice cream can be a little pricey here but if I really really want ice cream and have no time to make a run to Safeway, this will do just fine. They also have the sunday newspaper inside to buy (coupons!!), many different kinds of liquor and scratchers. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I feel like this place would maybe have drinks for a little less than other places. A large bottle of Jack was a dollar or so cheaper than Safeway. The customer service here is great, it makes this place feel really inviting like it's not just the little convenient that you swing by. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered items off of door dash for pick up. First the gentleman behind the counter said he noticed a discrepancy where one item wasn't charged. He said contact door dash I said fair enough and tried calling on the phone. Gentleman behind the counter then asked me to leave the store until I had it resolved. Like what? I just bought items and I'm resolving an issue why would you kick me out. Upset by this I asked if he can just keep the item not charged that way I can just leave. He then said no you cannot you need to pay for it. I said look I don't want it anymore. He then said is this you on the receipt? Which it was my wife's name(same last name) I said no that's my wife but I have the door dash app here with the receipt and card I have on file to verify. He said no I'm not giving it to you and proceeded to kick me out almost as if he was salty I didn't want the item anymore. He said he doesn't need my business and demanded I leave. Terribly run store and honestly people with these customer service skills don't deserve to own a business. There's plenty of liquor stores out there with cheaper prices. Stay clear of this wreck. EDIT: Nice response. Wife could have shown up and I'm sure it's family owned as to why you came in "his defense" but regardless the situation was ran poorly. There's an excellent selection of craft beers and spirits, including very high end lux bottles! I've been coming to this store since 2014, back when it was under different ownership. Since then, things have only gotten better thanks to Gippy! Even when I moved away, I would drive the 45 miles just to buy from here. The tall man with the glasses and the head scarf is very rude and unprofessional! I work with doordash and I've never accepted an alcohol order before so I didn't know the protocol of bringing in your own personal ID to accept the merchandise for the order and as I'm trying to explain to this man that it was a mix up I wasn't aware I needed to show my ID he goes on a whole rant about how he doesn't work for doordash and how he doesn't care and blah blah blah. Meanwhile this big huge man is yelling at me in front of a group of customers (at least 6 people) and I was basically just trying to explain and apologize for the mix up of communication for not having my ID for the order. I don't know if it was because I was a woman or what but there's a proper way to speak to people especially customers and this man definitely didn't exemplify good customer service. I've been coming here for the last 3 years and man these people have grown on me so much! The employees are the most to earth people ive met in Davis! They really care about you and what you want and need.. If there is ever a product that I want and they dont carry, they will go out of their way and make a special order for me and carry it as soon as possible. Like who does that? They provide the best customer service! They have such a good variety already like they literally carry everything! They have the new White Claws #2 edition!! Which is another plus! This store gets a 5 star because of their mix of price/value and most of all service. All the folks who work at this store are chill and nice. Never had a bad experience here so far. The owner tries and accomplishes to get competitive pricing in comparison to other stores. I got some tequila recommendations from him and not only did it make some delicious margaritas on a hot summer day but also got some free glass cups too. The gift set was the same price as the regular bottle. Will be back here soon. They also have slurpees here but the coca-cola one was not up to par.
