Fantastic wine selection and menu - I have tried the rose, the Pinot Grigio and the petit Syrah blend. They also have a nice selection of beers - including local options! All great - also had the nuts and the olives and duck rillettes. Great nibble selection. Really lovely patio space perfect for a warm evening and people watching opportunities! They also have live music on Saturday nights. Service here is always good! Thank you!

This place is so cool! I wish I had the opportunity to go more often when I still lived in Davis. As expected, there is wine everywhere, and food options to order as well. My group opted to order what we wanted by the glass, and the gal that helped us out was extremely informative. She helped each of us choose a wine that suited our preference, and I think she was spot on for everyone. There are plenty of tables as well as counter seating and outdoor seating, and it's a perfect little location in downtown to drink wine. Definitely check it out if you're nearby!

I came here with a friend to have wine and the cheese and charcuterie board. Both were excellent. Not packed at all on a Saturday in the early afternoon. We were checked on a few times and everything was delicious. A little pricey for my personal taste but I'll definitely be back.

Cool spot, friendly, knowledgeable service, and good wine selection. Was going to just pick up a bottle of wine to go, but ended up sitting next a friendly patron at the bar, chatting and getting a glass of the Zinfandel blend from Lodi and then a 20-year tawny Port, both of which were really good. They have some seating inside and out. Definitely recommend.

We had a great server who was very kind and accommodating. The spinach and artichoke dip we ordered came in a hot dish and it was delicious the vibe was quiet and relaxing.

I think the prices were very fair. I split a bottle of Sauvignon blanc with my sister and ordered the charcuterie board. The charcuterie board was definitely worth the value, was yummy and wine was great!

After dinner in downtown, we stopped by for a glass of dessert wine. Davis is known for its viticulture and oenology, but there are not many places in downtown that offer a variety of wines. This place offers wine by the glass, or you can buy a bottle and drink it inside ($10 corkage fee). Although we did not try, they also have snacks to go with the wine. This place may not be perfect (need comfy couches), but they've been doing a good job and I hope they continue to offer wine downtown Davis. OK, another glass (or bottle) of wine may make my rating a bit higher;)

Delicious appetizers. Love the skewers and the hummus plate. Quaint place with plenty of outdoor seating. The inside is swanky and sexy.

I was happy to oblige. Fabulously attentive service. The goat cheese butter with the bread was a great start. Decadence in a bite. Then the rack of lamb with potato croquette arrived and honestly stole the whole meal -- perfectly crisp outside, creamy all the way through. The rack of lamb was cooked correctly but lacked character. Lamb should taste like lamb, and this one played it too safe. Not bad, just forgettable. The vegetables let the plate down. Overcooked Brussels sprouts and unevenly cooked sweet potato aren't what you expect at this price point. Worth the visit. That croquette alone earns it.

We made reservations but saw many walk-ins who were accommodated. One thing noted was the price, as entrees ranged from $42-65. Not somewhere easily affordable to college students, and Mustard Seed drew older patrons. That being said, the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Popular on a Tuesday night which spoke volume to the quality of the food. We ordered crab cakes as starter, were served complimentary rolls with goat cheese butter spread, and also had rack of lamb, pan seared duck breast and pesto prawn pasta.

So I was happy to find yet another Sacramento Valley gem away from usual touristy hot spots. I came for a special event with delicious sips, and samples of their menu. The versatile and styled ambience is perfect for a casual date, after work hangout spot, or an elevated wine tasting. Nothing pretentious here though, just lots of heart shown in the thoughtful decor, local art displays, and versatile seating - you can choose to saddle up to the bar, sit at a small table or high top with a group, or lounge in a conversation area of moveable velvet chairs for casual laughs with friends. The drinks are fun and imaginative. I sampled both the cowboy margarita that came with a cute hat decoration, and an Aperol spritz. Many of the guests raved about the mocktail options, such as their rendition of the Shirley Temple. For their size, they have a generous and well curated retail selection of wines, plus a cooler with craft beers and other beverages you can enjoy there or take home. For food they have a solid options of savory items that punch above typical bar food, such as the Croque Monsieur - that I helped myself to seconds of! - escargot, and bone marrow. The owner operator was an amazing host and her team did an awesome job quickly serving our group, who all seemed to descend on the place at once! This a 21+ spot, so you have an excuse to leave the kids at home! Can't wait to return!

We had different servers who attended to us and they're both friendly and looked cheerful. We got there towards the end of Happy Hour and was presented with their Happy Hour menu. The menu is small, easy to read and has almost everything we'd want for that time of day - including the drinks. The food is a 'hit' or 'miss'. Here's my review: Drinks: Both the Arnold Palmer and the Cadillac Margarita were good. My lemonade tea wasn't overly sweet and I could definitely taste the lemonade. The pitcher of Cadillac Margarita looks innocent but may give someone a slow and powerful buzz if you're not used to the drink. (4.75 of 5) Charcuterie: This a complete appetizer board. Overall, there were some hits and misses, however, we agreed this is a well thought out appetizer board. (4 of 5) Crispy Brussels Sprouts: This is the best dish here, featuring deeply caramelized, dark golden-brown edges and a nutty, earthy flavor. Their Crispy Brussels Sprouts is also the best we've had. The seasoning is on-point, allowing the texture to show off its crackling, crunchy bite on the outside, contrasted by a tender, melt-in-your-mouth interior. (5 of 5) Seasonal Tacos: "Oh WOW!" The explosion of spicy and tangy flavours balanced by contrasting textures makes this dish "pop". (4.75 of 5) Beet Salad: The colours were lovely, but this beet salad was over-salted. The vibrant dish featuring beets as the main ingredient, balances the earthy sweetness with contrasting textures and flavours. If this wasn't too salty, it would have been more refreshing. (3.75 of 5) Coconut Lime Bouillabaisse (halibut, jasmine rice, spinach, snap pea, pickled shiitake mushroom, coconut lime broth, basil oil): Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bouillabaisse means seafood. The only seafood we noticed were chunks of halibut, which were delicious. This dish looks and tastes more like an elevated Thai soup dish that cost too much. (3.5 of 5) After walking in, we decided to sit outdoors because of the loud music that was playing. We're glad we did. The overhang on the veranda was well positioned with plants and flowers softening the cement walkway. The weather was pleasant - with a gentle breeze blowing down the corridor. Parking is easy if you arrive early enough. One last note: Back Door Bistro in Vacaville was featured on "Check, Please! Bay Area"

That said, our experience was noticeably impacted by the host. From the moment we walked in, interactions felt more focused on what we couldn't do rather than helping us feel comfortable or welcomed. I was initially told my dog wasn't allowed, which was later clarified when I explained he is a service animal, but subsequent interactions continued to feel corrective rather than hospitable. It stood out because every other staff member we interacted with was warm, social, and inviting, which made the contrast pretty stark. One practical note for future guests: if you order wine, plan to finish it there. They do not offer cork-and-carry, so splitting a bottle only really works if you're prepared to drink a good amount on-site. I'm rooting for this place and hope this feedback is helpful. With a small adjustment in front-of-house approach, this could easily be a fantastic addition to the local bar scene.
