Went here for late lunch,nice ambiance,filled with customers during that time but we got seated right away,service is fast and we didn't wait ling before our food comes,we had chimichangas,quesadillas birria and loaded chips,very delish and the serving is generous that we have a take home.
Stopped in to grab dinner on a Saturday night. This is my go to place in Davis. I love this place. I love the crispy chicken taco with shredded chicken. It was especially good or maybe I was just starving. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche. I stopped in a ride around five-ish and shortly after there was already a line so this place is always busy. It's a very popular spot for the college kids or just a popular spot in general because the food here is really good and I love their chips. It's even good the next day. Unlike some places the chips are really stale the next day love their salsa bar. They have seating indoors and outdoors. You have to find parking on the street. I'll be back soon again.
My friends at I stopped at Guads Tacos and Beer for lunch. My friend recommended we try them out based on all the highly rated reviews. My friend ordered super nachos and when I tell you they were gigantic and chocked full of meat and toppings, at least 4 people can eat off of those and be full. I ordered the 2 item combonation plate with a chile rellano and a cheese enchilada that is served with bean and rice. The chile rellano and cheese enchilada was huge and the serving of beans and rice was very generous as well. The service isn't anything special. You order and pay for your food at the counter and they give you a number. There is plenty of both indoor and outdoor dining. They have a beverage station for your. Agua Fresca's. I will definitely come to try other items and the prices are very reasonable.
Guads is one of those places I keep coming back to because the food always hits. My shrimp tacos were fire -- a little spicier than I wanted, but still absolutely delicious. My husband inhaled his carne asada taco bowl and gave it a 10/10, even though it was hotter than usual too. The kids' bean, rice, and cheese burrito was massive, like "this could feed two small humans" massive, and totally worth the price. Their chicken quesadilla tasted good but fell apart because the chicken chunks were big and it needed more cheese to hold everything together. Now... the noise inside? Girl. It was like being inside a baseball stadium. My kids instantly slapped their hands over their ears and begged to sit outside. We moved to the patio, which was fine, but it was warm and the indoor tables are mostly for three people, so not ideal for a family of four. Sangria was amazing though, and overall we still had a great time. Guads stays in the rotation whenever we're in Davis.
If you're not looking for this gem, you might miss it. Tucked in the back by houses, Guads Taco & Beer is THE best choice for Mexican food in Davis. There's a nice patio area and the inside has a surprising section of tables and chairs (it's small). We knew this place was good as soon as we saw how packed it was and how many people kept coming in. We ordered the crispy taco with asada, a grilled fish taco, an asada burrito, and quesabirria tacos. Everything was amazing! The crispy taco had a nice crunch to it and did not get soggy. The asada was well seasoned. The fish taco was delish and I enjoyed the sauce that was on top. My husband enjoyed his burrito and my MIL said the Quesabirria tacos were really good. Definitely a spot we will be frequenting every time we're in town.
So glad we decided to give this taco shop a try, another great yelp find. Though we came here for the patio dining and ended up eating inside due to the patio being packed, we were not disappointed in the slightest. I got the super burrito with carne asada and an agua de horchata. The rest of my table got a asada crispy taco, quesabirria tacos, and a fish taco. They have a nice selection of every Jarritos including Tamarindo which made my mom happy. They also have a salsa bar and chips station next to their soda fountain and aguas frescas. The set up is that of a taco shop where you order at the register and they bring it to you. They then clean the table afterward so make sure to tip at the register. The place is clean, restrooms and all. Service is fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. Overall we will definitely be coming back. I was so excited to try this place. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience. I ordered a super burrito and it took over 30 minutes to get my food. People who ordered after me got their food first. I got my food to-go and was so sad when I cut into the burrito. All there was inside was rice and chicken. No cheese, pico, sour cream, or guacamole. It was so dry that everything tumbled out after I took a bite. The more disappointing part is that when I called, the woman said she doesn't have the ability to refund an order. She wanted me to come back so they could remake it. I live 30 mins away in Sacramento. She took my name and number down, and said the manager would call me. No call...so here I am. I even tipped 18% on a to-go order (the smallest percentage available which was wild). Never coming back.
Met a girlfriend here for lunch. While she was looking for parking, I sat and waited. Guad's is a HOPPIN' place to be! There were so many people in line and not one table was open! When she got there, we got in line and ended up waiting about 10 minutes to get to the register. We both ordered a burrito bowl (chicken and carnitas). One of the biggest draws is the self-serve chips and salsa bar. The chips are so good and the selection of salsas and add-ons was awesome! We went outside and sat at one of the "bar" spots. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. The servings of salsa and guac on top were remarkable! We mixed up our bowls and dove in! It was a very hearty bowl and we were glad since it was not super cheap ($17.80). We sat at the table for almost 3 hours and the servers eventually came and grabbed our bowls and not once pressured us to leave. The place was so busy and buzzing with conversation. The vibe was super chill and the people watching was so fun!
This is a staple in Davis for quality Mexican food at an affordable price. Guads is a family favorite and we've been here several times for lunch. It's always clean and spacious inside, but it gets packed in here regularly. Come early if you can. I like everything I've tried, and my favorites include the street tacos and the flautas. The portions are generous and always fresh. It may get busy but service is always fast. I love their Jarritos wall too!
Still as fabulous as the first day we went in 2023! I've been to all three of their locations and this one is the best for proximity to the UCD campus, people watching and sitting outside on a spring day between winter and during quarters in late March. Order at the counter, then once you decide upon your meal, proceed to find a seat in this popular Davis hangout for university students, staff and the local community. Food is always on point: fresh tasting, delicious food that is presented beautifully and delivered to your table. Affordable Davis eats for lunch or dinner. Same dependable menu from open till close. Go there and enjoy a bit of Mexican food in a fabulous atmosphere.
First time here! Restaurant was packed, ordered at the bar and luckily found a table. Salsa bar and chips readily available as we waited for our food. Great local beer selection. I had the carne asada super burrito and it was delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly. My family had tacos and they were a hit. Parking is difficult as it is uc davis but worth the walk!
Food's great! We had their burrito, torta, chicken quesadilla, shrimp and fish tacos. Friendly and quick service. Small restaurant so seats are limited.

Okay... this one didn't quite hit for me. I was glad to see a vegan burrito option, but the rest just didn't land. Our "guac" came out as a large, runny scoop with more of a pico vibe than actual guacamole... not a fan. It was even served on a plate instead of a bowl which felt a little off. Chips are self-serve from the salsa bar, horchata tasted like a premix, iced tea was fine, and only one salsa had any real heat. It was super busy with college kids so clearly it's a popular spot. Service was genuinely great though, very attentive, and the salsa bar was actually spotless which I appreciated. Nothing was bad, nothing was memorable either... just kind of meh. read more

Really a 4.5, but I haven't had the best luck of eating in Davis, so this place was a great stop on the way to the Bay from Truckee. Cheapish eats, chip and salsa bar, quick and fresh food. There is both indoor seating and outdoor seating and it's located on the cutest street. The fish and shrimp tacos were great and filling, topped with so much crunchy cabbage, hiding the protein, but it was there. The flautas were delicious and the steak tacos had big, juicy bites of steak. The guac was weak (not an order but what came with flautas). It was more of a thick avocado salsa. Props to the great beer options - with some local varieties from Davis. We went when school was out for summer and it was still quite busy for dinner. I imagine during school days, it's packed. I see why this is on so many of the Yelp top places to eat: it's a great value with large portions and good eats. read more

The Carnitas taco today was super tasty with crispy and, flavorful pork just how I like it. I also ordered a Carne Asada taco and chorizo taco. The Carne Asada taco was a bit plain for me, but the chorizo was really good. I love their chips and salsa bar. I had an Agua Fresca for my beverage and the choice of Horchata, Jamaica, and pineapple. The noise level inside is a little bit loud sometimes so we sat outside. It seemed like a regular busy lunch hour, and we had to bus our own table a little bit. A few of the tables outside had not been cleared, which made it difficult to find seats. But all of the servers and the cashier were very nice and attentive. Side comment took a picture of one of the bathrooms a tiny little space but decorated super cute with a tiny sink. Wish I could give this a 5, and I can. Really thinking about it, is it their fault they are sooooo good that there are 50 people waiting in line? Yes, it is but that's not a bad thing. For starters, we showed up at prime time rush on a Friday night in a college town. We waited in a jam packed space and ended up enjoying our dreaded outdoor table. It gave us just enough privacy and room to enjoy in such a tight space (bring a coat, though). The food was incredible, my husband compared his tacos to some that reminded him of some in his Mexican hometown which is rare, my fries were perfect and my daughter's quesabirrias had just the right crunch. Drinks were great, service and staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back, just maybe not at rush hour. read more

Got myself crispy tacos this time around (good and filling) with lengua and cabeza. Good stuff. I still prefer street tacos at the Mexican place on L street, but Guads is really close to campus and a solid place to enjoy with coworkers. Naturally, I'll be back. The place tends to be busy during lunch, but not impossible to find a table and the service is fairly quick. I hear the beer selection is solid, but my boss won't let me check it out during work hours... Ambiance is friendly industrial, plenty outside seating for those who want it. read more

Great Mexican spot with really good vibes. The food has that almost Tex-Mex style but still tastes authentically Mexican, which makes it stand out. The burrito bowl was HUGE and packed with flavor. The salsas were fresh and delicious, and the aguas frescas were super refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, Guads has some of the tastiest tacos and burritos in the Davis and Sacramento area. I've come back many times, and its definitely a spot I'd recommend to others. Food: (4/5) Aggie Taco ($4.99) I got the battered fish taco and it was delicious. Though, compared to the street taco, it lacked some seasoning. It was not as heavily flavorful. However, the salsa added flavor. The blue tortillas flavor was apparent and different from their traditional tortilla. (5/5) Al Pastor Street Taco ($2.99) The meat was very well seasoned, flavorful, tender, and juicy. The al pastor is my meat of choice at Guads because it's so delicious and different from street vendors. Though, it is a little oily. (5/5) Chips and Salsa Bar (Free) There is a complimentary unlimited chip and salsa bar towards the back of the restaurant. Their housemade salsas are very delicious, especially the green salsa. I usually prefer red salsa but their green salsa is some of the best I've ever had. I definitely recommend trying it out. Service & Ambiance: (5/5) The service and staff here are amazing. Everyone is friendly and extremely attentive. They always keep the restaurant clean by wiping down tables and the salsa bar no matter how busy it gets. They are also always cleaning up your table after you leave because there is no designated place to put your dirty plates. Though, the restaurant itself is small, so seating can be limited when it gets busy. read more
One of the best Mexican spots I've tried in the Sacramento area! Every single thing I tried here was amazing. To start it off, the free chips which seem to be made in house, and the various types of salsa were great. Standouts of our meal was the al pastor vampiro and the davis special fish tacos. So flavorful with tender meat. The chile verde pork taco was also great. The burrito was good but not as good as the tacos. Overall, an awesome meal. The service was fast and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside on the patio. Great spot of casual meal with friends. read more
Obsessed with Guads, my go-to Davis comfort food as a grad student. I would always order one street taco with Al pastor and a crispy taco with asada, for under $9 total. You can get so full from the tacos plus unlimited chips and a variety of salsas + my favorite pickled cauliflower, carrot slices, and peppers mix. Service is solid. It gets really busy over dinner time, so I usually come earlier during the week of the school year around 5 pm to avoid the wait. Music can be loud which can make it hard to chat, especially when it's crowded, but the music is always good. Bad Bunny and other top Latino hits. I also like that they have an array of beers and even cider to drink on tap. read more

Guad's Tacos & Beer was a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant itself looks very clean, modern, and fresh, which immediately sets a good first impression. One thing I really liked was the self-service bar for chips and salsas. The salsas were extremely fresh, full of flavor, and actually felt house-made instead of an afterthought. The tacos and quesadillas were excellent. Everything tasted freshly cooked, and the meats were tender and juicy across the board. The quesadilla in particular stood out -- soft, fluffy, and perfectly cooked without being greasy. Overall, Guad's delivers on freshness, quality, and consistency. Definitely a spot I'd come back to, especially if you're craving good tacos with great salsas. read more

Free chips, yummy pico, great fish tacos! I think this place is overall good if you're willing to wait in the inevitably long line. Once ordered it's nice to fill up on free home made chips and salsa. The fish tacos were yummy with homemade blue corn tortillas. read more
The food is both flavorful and fresh. You order at the counter and take a number of the atmosphere is casual. We picked up the chips and salsa next to the drinks. The food came out fast and hot. I loved the Al pastor crunchy taco, they make it here. There is melty cheese in the taco. Good beans too. I will return and recommend this casual restaurant. read more

One of the best restaurants in Davis and 100% the go-to Mexican restaurants. Price is great, portions are amazing, quality is great, and service is fast! Absolutely try it!! Food (10/10) - I don't think I've found better tacos than at guads. There speciality tacos are huge and are so filling. My cap is 3, which is just enough to crave a 4th but know that eating more will probably result in adverse effects LOL (this is also coming from someone who can down 7-8 standard street tacos). My original go-to was the quesabirria but I find that it gets a bit oily after the second taco. HOWEVER, this is definitely not saying that you shouldn't get it. I would recommend getting 1 or 2 and then trying something else on the menu. During my last visit, I tried the crispy taco and it's AMAZING. It's slightly cheaper than the quesabirria (since you don't get the consóme) but the variety you get from being able to choose that you want makes it 100% worth it. Also, if you're really craving that dipping taste, I would recommend getting one quesabirria and then 2 crispy tacos. I tried the marinated steak, al pastor, and chicken. My favorite of the 3 is definitely the al pastor! It has a nice, crispy texture from the taco shell which is elevated by the slightly crispy pork inside the taco. There's a great balance of cheese where you get a bite of the stretchy cheese with every taco bite. The guac that comes with it elevates it even further as it gives you a super creamy texture to enhance the richness of the cheese. If I had one thing I would recommend, it's to get some salsa to add an extra bit of kick. Some other items that I've tried are the loaded nacho fries and the burrito. The loaded nacho fries are pretty good but nothing super notable. I'm also not the biggest fan of burritos but the flavor was still great. Price (10/10) - If there's one thing Guad's has right, it's price and portion. It's SOOO worth. Personally, I wouldn't ever order the street tacos since their speciality tacos are just that much better for value. They're pretty ginormous tacos and only around $5 a taco is amazing. Even if you were to order the street tacos, they're absolutely loaded with meat (my friend was struggling to fold it). Service (8/10) - Good service! Nothing to write about. Food comes out pretty quickly. Long story short, ABSOLUTELY go to Guad's if you have a chance! Happy eating :D read more

Okay this place is definitely over hyped. It's a good spot in the area but I've had better food for less within the same area. The burritos were good, ceviche was mid, and tacos were cool. Nothing special. Service was okay and the place has seating in the inside and outside but gets pretty packed. The only thing that would set them apart for me would be the variety of beer and their chips and salsa bar. That's it. read more
