Yummy shaved ice with custard! I came here a lot as a college student in Davis. I came here with some friends on a Saturday around 5pm. Not that busy at all. I got a size small and chose watermelon and blue raspberry shaved ice flavors with vanilla custard. It tasted the same as i remembered. The shaved ice is packed with the flavors and the vanilla custard is so creamy and almost fatty like. My friend got the orange and banana flavored shaved ice instead with vanilla custard and LET ME TELL YOU! Next time I need to get that exact combo because it was so good. I've watch a YouTube video and discovered this dessert spot. I've walked past by many times but never went in. It was such a hot day so I decided to try it and oh boy, I'm not sure why I only tried it just now. It was so good. The frozen custard reminds me of the Costco sundae and the Italian ice is sweet and flavorful. The smallest half and half is $5.5 and with each additional size up, it's just a dollar more so I recommend getting a large for $7.5. It's also great share it with a friend to try more ice flavors. There was a large family before me and the staff were patient and made sure the customer got the right order. Highly recommend on a hot day or if craving something cold and sweet. read more

First timer! I went on a downtown Davis foodie adventure and ended my evening at Sweet and Shavery. I came for the parfait half and half, which is half Italian ice and half frozen custard. I love this unique take on dessert and appreciated the extensive menu of possible combinations! Despite the long line, service was quick and they offer two samples for free. I tried the chocolate ice and was sold on the chocolate macaroon parfait (chocolate ice, coconut cream ice, chocolate custard, and chocolate sauce). My partner ordered the frozen banana (banana ice, chocolate custard, and chocolate sauce). We were absolutely delighted! Both desserts were beautifully presented and tasted light but satisfying. We seated ourselves inside at a high top table, given that all other tables were occupied. There's not much crepe places where I live, so when I visits my friend in Davis she took us to this place to try some of their food. When we got there it was busy, the service was pretty quick. I got the strawberry Nutella crepe with whipped cream & it was so good. It was perfect, the strawberry was sweet & the crepe edges were slightly crisp & each bite was so delicious. Sweet and shavery is a small frozen custard shop with different varieties of Italian ice. I had a medium size vanilla frozen custard which was a good amount. The texture is pretty good but it's not too different from a Strauss soft serve. Even though the texture is better than soft serve, the flavor unfortunately was very weak. My vanilla custard did not taste like vanilla. It just tasted like sweet milk. I would say the frozen custard here is just okay. My husband had his frozen custard with mango Italian ice. I tried his mango Italian ice and it had a very nice artificial mango flavor. My husband thought of his dessert was just fine. The bathroom is outside of the shop and down a very deep alley. Prices are okay but a little steep for something that doesn't taste as good as ice cream. The two young ladies that helped us was very friendly and sweet. My only suggestion to them is to stop cleaning your floor with so much fabuloso. The smell of that floor cleaner is sooooooo strong it burns your eyes if you stay in there too long. The workers were very friendly and welcoming. I got a small Sunset per one of the workers recommendations; they said that was one of the more popular orders--mango ice, strawberry ice, and vanilla custard. Ever since then, it became my go-to order every single time I went there. I have tried other flavors when I went with my friends, and I haven't had a flavor that I disliked, but Sunset is still the winner for me. Additionally, the place gives you stamp cards so you get a free small ice or parfait after the 10th stamp. They also have a birthday wheel which is always nice if you ever choose to come on your birthday. Overall, this is a great place to get dessert in downtown for children and adults alike. Just the right amount of sweetness. If you love pina colada, definitely give this a try. My sister got their small root beer float parfait and it tasted just like regular root beer float. It was good as well. Portions and prices seemed to be pretty decent. The small was good enough for me but I should have gone with medium as it was so good lol.
