Friendly barista, more chatty ambiance just a little out of the way. Still bustling but not cramped like Mishkas. Doesn't appear to have many chargers for working like Temple does. I got a macchiato medium roast and it was quite sour; I dont blame them for it though. Decent prices. I'd be interested in coming back for something else too like their drip coffees. I came at 2pm and didnt seem to have any food items left.
Volt is a solid coffee shop that is a bit farther off Downtown Davis! I enjoyed two of the seasonal fall drinks and the barista gave good recommendations on the roast for the drinks. The toasted marshmallow latte is a good drink for those with a sweet tooth as it runs a bit on the sweeter side. A downside is that parking is very sparse in the lot so you might have to find parking elsewhere on the street if you're looking to visit!
This spot is a bit out of the way from the foot traffic so I only just tried it now. London Fog: A Loved the drink. Earl grey with milk and sugar, super refreshing. The vibe of the place is modern yet cozy, so I would definitely say this is a cool spot to hangout or study. They have a lot of seasonal drink items as well that sounds pretty good like the pumpkin ones or ube drinks.
Busy spot, small parking lot. Great hidden gem off Olive Drive. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable and coffee drinks were solid. My friend got a capucino with a beautiful swan. I forgot the young lady's name, but she's got latte art skills! If I see her working, I'll definitely order something she can decorate for me (I heard she does the cutest bear!). I had the cold brew with pistachio cold foam. The foam was thick and creamy, but very mild in pistachio flavor. Cold brew itself was bold. The inside and the patio were full and crowded with people and their laptops. This was on Saturday around noon. We were able to share a picnic table with a solo customer. I saw that they have a free comedy show on Fridays. Great place to hang out if you are lucky enough to snag a parking spot and a seat. Nice caffeine addition outside of downtown!
God I'm going to miss Volt so much. I waited so long to write this review almost out of a gatekeep vibe, even though I let everyone I ever knew irl know how much I love Volt. My drink is always consistent there, the service is great. Jackie is doing her best to make changes that positively impact the customer while making sense for the business. I have seen quite a few price increases while coming here for over a year, but they have a loyalty program that helps (put your phone number in and receive points per purchase) and it's worth it to get a great coffee over a mid coffee for a few dollars cheaper imo. The parking situation is a bit bad but I've always found a way around it. There is a decent amount of outdoor seating which is great on a nice day to study outside or chat with people. They run great promotions like BOGOs or bring your own cup for a discount etc. And they have trivia and bingo! Yes, I am the proud winner of a bingo night They do mobile ordering if you're in a rush or don't like socializing. But honestly the baristas are so nice I think it's worth it to come in and make conversation. You won't regret getting to know them. I have nothing but good things to say about Volt. I'm going to miss it so much now that I've moved.
Came here on a Sunday morning whim while visiting Davis. Mainly picked it due to the vibe and aesthetic of the interior. Would definitely be a good place to do some work or studying. There were a couple small-business vendors outside which was really dope to see. Always up for supporting small. There was additional parking at an auto shop a minute walk away which was great! The parking lot itself is very limited. Not sure if the extra parking is the norm on other days of the week. We were welcomed with all smiles from everyone behind the counter and it felt very nice. Cashier was super kind and helpful. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. The coffee was okay. If you like your coffee not really tasting like coffee, you might dig it. Almond croissant was okay too - if you want it warmed, they pop it in the microwave (not toasted). Overall, not the worst coffee I have had. Nevertheless, it never hurts to stop by--this might be the place for you!
Stopped by for a break while driving through Sacramento. It's not far off of highway 80 and has a small parking lot. Excellent coffee! I tried the pumpkin spice latte they make a delicious one, so try that if you like that drink. Very friendly staff and it looks like a lot of the university students go here. Plenty of inside and outside seating.

I got the chai latte and my friend ordered the matcha latte. Unfortunately, both were kind of disappointing. They tasted like they had too much milk and not enough of the actual chai or matcha flavors. It felt like something was missing in both drinks. Overall, it's a nice little spot with a relaxed vibe, but nothing really stood out to me. If you're in the area, it's worth checking out once, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

I managed to find a spot down the street and made it to the cafe. It was pretty busy, but it was a little hard to tell where the line actually started because they do not have designated areas for those waiting for their drink to be ready. The interior is also a little stark for my taste - it feels industrial and isn't really for me. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk, which ran me almost $8. They prepared my drink pretty quickly, but the taste of this drink definitely does not justify the price. It was powdery and tasted artificial. It felt like there was a film on it and it was very unpleasant texturally.
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my grandma! It was so nice and relaxing. Not too loud or busy for her, kind of tucked away in Davis. They had limited pastries so we didn't try any - but the coffee was delicious! Be back soon. Check them out!

I tried Volt Coffee and honestly wasn't super impressed. I got an iced matcha latte, and it kind of just tasted like milk. It wasn't what I was hoping for. The space itself is nice but the baristas weren't the friendliest towards customers and chatting loudly the whole time. It kind of threw off the ambiance. I noticed everyone around me had headphones and were probably trying to tune out the voices. I wouldn't come back for the drinks or the atmosphere especially if you're looking for a quiet spot to focus on work or relax.
One of my favorite coffee spots from when I lived in Davis. The coffee here is consistently good and actually strong enough to wake you up and get you through long study sessions or early mornings. The atmosphere is super chill and always full of students studying, working on laptops, or just hanging out. It has that cool local coffee shop vibe where you can sit for a while and chill. They also have outdoor seating and food trucks nearby, which makes it a chill spot to get coffee and a bite. Definitely my go to place to get coffee whenever I'm back in Davis.

Cute indoor and outdoor spot in Davis. Definitely a more outdoor type of cafe with lots of tables and bench tables. . The coffee i got is a cappuccino and they made a cute swan design latte art. Love the espresso flavor, it was bold and rich and milky. The coffee was settle and Definitely a good cup of cap. . The line was quick and it was crowded with lots of people. The Ambiance is casual and fun spot to hang out. Parking is limited and they have street parking too. . Overall if you are looking for a coffee shop other than the big names, I recommend this spot. There's limited parking and it gets pretty crowded after 11am. Matcha's not bad though, and the baristas are really sweet! Out of the Davis matcha options it's definitely one of the better ones. I like it better than Frenzy's or Pachamama's. I also like how spacious it is read more
Currently becoming a regular at Volt! My favorite coffee shop in town at the moment. FOOD/DRINK: So far, I tried the iced vanilla latte and iced hazelnut latte. I loved both drinks. They are a tad on the sweet side and I opt for the medium roast over the dark roast. I also take light ice and they (unlike some other coffee shops) fill the cup all the way to the top even with this request. I really appreciate that. Their default is 2% milk but there are milk alternatives available. Something else surprising to me was that on certain days (?) they offer pizza in addition to their bakery items. Not sure if it's part of the everyday menu, but they gave out samples yesterday of a pesto and pepperoni slice and both came out delicious. Hope this is a regular option because it's sooo good! SERVICE: All the baristas are super friendly, upbeat, and energetic. I feel like they prioritized hiring kind, fun souls. AMBIANCE: The place has a cool aesthetic and everything looks recently updated. There's white exposed brick walls, cool art, and ample high/low seating (and some seating outdoor). There is an extension cord and outlet by the right corner table. Great place to study (if you don't mind some background music/chatting). read more

I really love this café -- it has always been my favorite spot in town. I have been here literally since day one. But today's experience was quite surprising and honestly disappointing. I ordered a simple salted maple cold foam cold brew even without syrup, and the drink was made with ice overflowing out of the cup, foam dripping down the sides, and the straw couldn't even go in at first. What surprised me is that the the barista handed it to me as if everything was normal, without any acknowledgement or offer to fix it. I don't know if it because today is a busy day or whatever, this has never happened. Mistakes happen, and that's okay. But the way it was handled made me feel a bit dismissed. I hope this was just an off day, because I really love this café and want to continue coming back. read more

Best prices for coffee in town, also has indoor and outdoor seating. This is a new coffee shop in town, also has teas, beers/cider, pastries, and food trucks available. The store is brightly lit and super clean. The menu is simple, I ordered a 12oz iced lavender latte ($5.25) and a 12oz iced matcha latte ($5.00), great price for everyone. For the espresso shots my latte, you get to choose either dark or medium roast beans. I opted for the dark roast beans in my lavender latte which gave a bold flavor to my coffee. Matcha needs a bit more flavor, but still good. The orders came out quickly and the staff were friendly. Parking is limited onsite, but plenty of street parking available. Weekday happy hour ($5) from 4pm-6pm on taps. With many college students in Davis, there were plenty of chargers making this a great study spot. Also there is a reward system if sign up. Definitely will be visiting again! read more

I've heard a lot of good things about Volt but timing never worked out. We finally stopped in on a weekend afternoon. I like the woodsy indoor/outdoor feel! They even have food trucks there too, which is nice if you want a bite to eat since it's not in the middle of downtown by all the other eateries. They're tucked away just off the side of the freeway exit so it's nice and quiet. The parking lot is very small but we managed to find street parking nearby. Our drinks came out quickly and I liked the variety of fall seasonal drinks! I chose the vanilla latte with pumpkin cold foam in hopes that it wouldn't be too strong of a pumpkin flavor and I was right! I love cold foam drinks so this was a perfect little twist on a classic latte. It was smooth and creamy! Tons of seating inside and a bunch of bench tables outside as well. This would be a great spot to hang out for food and coffee! read more

LOVE volt coffee!! the quality of the espresso is so good! the staff is always super friendly. i love their orgeat latte, it tastes like the inside filling of an almond croissant and i've never had this flavor anywhere else. i like to come here to to study and do schoolwork, but sometimes it's a bit loud and distracting so it's a bit easier to focus outside. it's pretty pricey, but the quality is worth it every once in a while! read more

So glad to have solid coffee in South Davis. There is not a ton of parking so I hope this place doesn't get overcrowded. Very cute place to study or catch up with a friend. The baristas are very friendly. And the bathrooms are simply yet so calming. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in Davis. I was really bummed when they reduced hours for the summer (Mon-Sunday from 8 am - 1 pm). Ambiance I love sitting (&standing) in there and chatting with my fiancé. The art is fire, the tile is beautiful, & the music is always on point and never too loud. Their bar height tables are awesome for antsy people like me. Could probably stand and work on your laptop too! I really dig the outdoor section; but it would be nicer to spend time out there in the afternoon rather than morning imo. Would love to sit outside and gawk at the beefy trees in the parking lot. I think it's super dope they sometimes host community events like art shows. I would love to see a listening event hosted there. Could maybe do a theme including local musicians who are releasing music. Or even doing a vinyl listening session with a genre theme. The parking lot is kinda small so when it's busy you might not get a spot! I think they worked something out with their neighbors and they offer additional parking at Davis auto works on the weekend last time I checked. Drinks Their Mexican mocha is my favorite! I always get the medium roast and it hits every time. I've had everything on the specialties menu and I have almost no complaints. It is important to get to know your barista tho - some folks make the drinks sweeter! Close second is the hazelnut and, obviously, the classic plain latte doesn't miss. I'm gonna try their cold brew next time! Another big perk is they offer drinks for non coffee drinkers too. My partner loves green tea and they're the only place that offers green tea shakers that are to her standard! All the flavors they offer are fresh and delish. Her favorite is a tie between peach & strawberry. I think some of the tea flavors are seasonal. See the pic of what they had available today. I've had yet to grab a beer here but the brands they offer are promising! I think those rotate as well. Hopefully they open up later again in the fall so I can grab some late lunch drinks. Hopefully the food trucks will be open too! (I've only seen them open once). Food I've only ever seen one of the food trucks open one time and didn't get a chance to try. They're usually closed when I go. Would love to grab a beer and a bite and hang on the patio some day! I've had a few of the pastries they offer and they're usually pretty good. Today I had a cronut (croissant donut). Kinda expensive in my opinion ($5.45) but I don't always get pastries when I go to a cafe. Might be worth it! Overall I love Volt. They've been my favorite spot since they opened and I don't see anyone trumping them in the near future! Needed a coffee on the way to the Bay and found this one randomly on Yelp. Really glad I stopped by! It's tucked away on Olive Dr. Limited parking spots, but I got one since it wasn't been busy. Super cute indoor/outdoor seating. I love it! I would totally spend hours here just studying or chatting away with a friend. I got a vanilla latte with vanilla cold foam ($7). The price was a little steep, but comparable to everything else, unfortunately. But after my first sip, I was in love. This is the best ice vanilla latte I've ever had. It was creamy, sweet, cold, and very refreshing. What usually takes me all of two days to drink, took me about ten minutes to gulp down. It was the perfect pick me up on my drive. Staff was very friendly, bathrooms are clean, music wasn't too loud. Highly recommend! read more
