Got our drinks n made the mistake of needing the bathroom. Another customer grabbed my damn fries while in the bathroom. Why do people just grab without confirming it's what they order???? She left the store and they start getting busy so I asked "how much longer for the fries?" as I'm still waiting customer Comes back in to give the fries back saying it's not her side of rice. Guy gives her the side of rice that has been sitting, she leaves. He looks up at me and tells the coworker these are the fries. He looks back up AT ME AND GOES HERE ARE YOUR FRIES!!! I looked at him so silly. Like dude no. I don't want those damn fries someone just took opened and returned. I paid for fresh fries. I PAID THEY TOOK THE FRIES TO THE BACK. HAD US WAIT I ASKED "I will be getting fresh fries right" Girl worker looked annoyed and says yeah. Umm home girl chill, u got a job cause customers walk in. AND TO BE FAIR I wasn't even upset with the employees was more annoyed at the customer cause the fries and rice don't even come in the same packages, rice is in a plastic see through container. I am 100% convinced they gave us the same fries. The fries were soggy and somewhat cold once my son started eating them. Which sucks if it was the same fries cause it's not fair I am not getting what I paid for. Very disappointing! Came around 12 AM. I give them two stars because they're open and the kitchen isn't closed until 1AM. I use to work at a boba shop for years in San Jose & LA. Customer service is something I look for at most places. Looks like the workers had a few friends over (reasonable) but the guy worker lowkey attitude. As soon as I was done ordering he went out to the lobby to kick it with his friends. He seemed bothered by the fact that we came in to order. Also when I ordered my drink, the female worker laughed at what I ordered. Yes, I ordered just an unsweetened tea. That's all. Is there an issue? All we heard were her comments while we were waiting for our drinks. I just find the customer service here lousy and sad. Hopefully the owners or management do something considering looking at prior yelp reviews, customer service is not what they strive for. I'd rather be at pekoe, tastea, percolate or other boba places. Teabo isn't quite the ideal place to get a drink, I'm hoping Davis opens more boba places soon! Sad to say this is the only boba place open late nights. Drinks are below average with so much syrups. Also my girlfriend ordered a green tea unsweetened and all we hear is one of their girl workers saying ewww and gross and who gets unsweetened green tea. I used to come to this place for fried mushrooms and popcorn chicken and I remember they were delicious. Tonight I made a mistake and came here again. First of all they took so long to make the order ready. Second, everything was super spicy! The chickens were dark red due to all the spice. The mushrooms were soggy and again, spicy. They only had two types of sauces and those were super spicy too. We got two boba which they were tasteless. They took 20-30 minutes to make those ready. And when I got to pay, it was about $5 for a taro blizzard with boba, no idea if the boba was extra (it prob was) and I got it with soy(?) milk which I also don't know if it cost extra. Unfortunately, I'm updating my review because I ordered through DoorDash yesterday night and I was disappointed. Their Cajun fries didn't come with ANY sauces (there's not even an option to choose sauces on their DoorDash menu, so I thought they would automatically provide sauces). & the fries were undercooked. The boba wasn't cooked throughly either and was really hard. :( I used to love ordering the fries & drinks from here but I'm a bit disappointed.. if I do get teabo again it will definitely need to be in person so I can make adjustments & ask for sauces. read more

I've been here on several occasions to get a drink to cool off and another time I actually had a out of town friend in town visiting me so we decided to go there and just had out and eat cause we haven't seen each other in almost 10 years. They always make tasty drinks I usually stick to my usual of iced honey milk green tea with aloe Vera. The time I got food we ordered the Thai fries and popcorn chicken. Food took about 20 minutes to come out, the fries were pretty much lukewarm/cold and a tad oily for us by the time it got to us. The popcorn chicken was hot and really tasty I would recommend that. They have have seating inside and and limited outside seating as well. They have a easy flow menu to built your customized drink and if it's not right they will make it fresh and make it right guaranteed. Teabo has great boba and snacks but today the taro milk tea I got was a little too sweet. I order it at 50% sweetness and 100% ice and it was both really really sweet and not very cold. I asked if they could make it 0% sweet but it was still really sweet and sort of warm which is not very refreshing on a hot day in Davis. I don't love bitter milk teas or anything but I also don't have a really big sweet tooth; I would say the average level sweet tooth? Overall I wasn't really happy with the drink. I think that it should be advertised that the lowest sweetness level they could do is 80/75% or something. They also recently raised their prices by 50 cents so things need to step up. Teabo has the best snacks, especially when you get those late night cravings! All their snacks come in pretty large servings, so they're good for sharing. Definitely try the popcorn chicken (a classic). The chicken katsu is also very substantial and crispy. If you want something more unique, try the fried mushrooms. They're perfectly fried, and not too salty or oily. As for the boba, I think there are better places in Davis, but Teabo will still satisfy tea cravings if you happen to be in South Davis. The drinks here are really sweet, so get light sugar if you don't like your tea really sweet. It usually gets pretty loud here at night, so definitely a fun place to hang out with friends! I LOVE boba tea, but I couldn't drink my passion fruit green tea with boba. It was bitter. I asked for 25% sweetener, but the tea didn't taste sweet at all. All I could taste was the bitterness. The boba should be sweet and flavorful, but it didn't taste like anything. It was also soggy on the outside with a hard center. Teabo is my favorite boba place in Davis - hands down. Not only do I get super amazing fruit tea, I get to embarrass my boyfriend with my k-pop knowledge every time we come. My typical go to is a passion fruit green tea with lychee stars. Even if you aren't a fan of what your ordered, I believe they will remake your drink to your satisfaction! They also have a small variety of food and board games to choose from for those who are looking for a nice hang out/study spot. I wanted to finally take the time to write a review today because of the customer service we received from Timothy (I hope that's right, I'm bad with names lol). I believe he said he was a new manager there. Anyway, my brother is visiting me from back home (in West Virginia) where we don't really have as diverse restaurants or much of boba anything. Timothy was nice enough to speak with us about the menu, give us recommendations, as well as let my brother sample some of the toppings. Although I already had a hat prior to today from all the pandas I had saved up, I wanted to continue my loyalty to Teabo by buying one of their super nice reusable boba straws. Nice bubble tea place Located right next to student dorms, the place is popular with students from UC Davis. The outside is pretty cute, with lots of cute drawings on the doors and windows. Inside, the decor is neat, with lots of customer's polaroids hanging on the wall and signed by the customers. All the tables and seats are clean, even the bathroom. The food is great. We got the fried chicken and the portions were HUGE. Large chunks of pure chicken meat, with a spicy crusty fried exterior. You can even see the jalapenos. Nice. I usually stop through here to get a drink whenever i'm passing through Davis. My favorite drink is the peach iced tea but today I came early enough for their café to still be open. I got myself their chicken katsu w/ rice and their spicy mayo. Their chicken katsu is probably the best chicken katsu i've ever had but what really made me want to write this review is their SPICY MAYO SAUCE. i was honestly just expecting some mayo and sriracha mixed together but no...THIS spicy mayo tastes way too advanced. No idea what they put in it but this stuff is literally crack. i'm even spreading this sauce on my rice as well as all over my chicken katsu. TO TEABO CAFÉ: PLEASE NEVER GET RID OF THIS SAUCE. First off, the boba here has become pretty mediocre and the tea is too. They often run out of boba entirely. As for the service, I had a bad experience ordering online. I made an online order and it said I would receive text alerts when the order was ready. I waited 50 minutes, tried calling twice after 30 minutes only for the phone to never be picked up, and then went down to Teabo and my order was just sitting there, getting cold. They said "Oh yeah you just have to come here it doesn't text you when it's ready", but the initial text I received stated that I would get text updates. They also did not have the ability to heat up the food when I asked, which isn't a big deal but my food wouldn't have been sitting for so long if their notification system didn't falsely tell customers they'd be alerted to pick up the food. I don't know why they don't tell you you won't be alerted when it's ready up front, or at least answer the phone when a customer calls. It was also pretty empty when I came in for the record so I'm really not sure why the phone wasn't answered. Anyways, you can get much better boba and customer service in Davis. I'll admit the orange chicken and rice is pretty good, but don't waste your money here in general if you care about the quality of your boba or want quick service! read more

Teabo Cafe offer up the best popcorn chicken I've ever had, with some good drinks as well! No seriously, their popcorn chicken is good. Like legit hella good. I didn't even need any special sauces for it. It legit felt like real, juicy pieces of fried chicken seasoned to perfection. Honestly could just eat it with rice and call it an entire meal. Their drinks were a little bit too sweet for me personally, but that's just me. If sweet is your thing, then get your sweetness on here! I do have to at least address that they forgot my popcorn chicken order for awhile until I had to remind them, but it came out quickly after that. Teabo is probably one of the more consistent in quality boba shops in Davis. They're not amazing or mind blowingly good but they get the job done. I appreciate that they have almond and soy milk with no extra charge. The straight teas themselves, don't really have much flavor, but their drinks overall aren't too bad. The food is pretty good though. The popcorn chicken is nice if you prefer a softer less crispy chicken, and I love the two sauces that they provide- Sriracha Mayo and Thai Chili. This place gets crowded at night but we're usually able to find seating. It's a fun place to hang out and talk with some friends. For some reason, a lot of people like to study here, but I can't imagine how or why because they don't have wifi. read more

I've been in and out of Davis for the better part of the last decade, and this summer I found the best chicken katsu in a college town brimming with all the same foods. man, my surprise at my first katsu; at the tenderness, juiciness, the slight kick of the breading blend. I ordered the katsu five times that week. cheapest chicken katsu in town too! (to my knowledge), though it doesn't come with that danky dank mac salad like the hawaiian food spots in town. the rice serving is generous and consistently great, often perfect. when they ask if you want sauce, ask for one of each. two nights ago, a few alum friends were passing through Davis and stayed overnight (pitched tents in the backyard, we socially distanced the whole time). I was stoked to share my katsu discovery until I saw it wasn't on the grubhub menu that night. my devastation had me call to confirm they were out, but praise be to god for Tim (asst manager?) who told me they had one left. teabo doesn't take over-the-phone orders, but I think Tim heard my love and desperation for this last katsu cutlet. he accommodated my very specific situation and good god, bc of Tim, it was my best interaction with teabo yet. when I got there, Tim came out from the kitchen and greeted me with a big bag of food. never felt more like a popstar in a boba shop. we chatted, I thanked him, told him I loved him, told him he has my heart. he asked if I would leave a yelp review like -- dude, I would ride into battle with you. somebody give this guy a raise. constructive notes: I was referred to as "woman" and "lady" by the person calling out to Tim, which was strange bc I doubt I'm what anyone imagines when thinking of a woman or lady (I'm trans and so visibly masc). being misgendered in food service situations is quietly rough for a lot of trans ppl on both sides of the encounter since the encounters are usually fleeting and often seen as not worth correcting (that being said: Tim, if you don't use he/him pronouns, hit me up and I will rewrite this review). teabo does not use or call out names from credit card transactions though, a notable relief for all of us who have yet to legally change our deadnames. also my delivery order tonight came with an incompatibly small straw, so I will be fishing out my boba with a spoon after this review (not mad about it). though grubhub does delivery until 845 pm, teabo's one of the latest food joints open on most nights -- highly appreciated during COVID life as time is especially unreal. Tim also told me ordering directly through the teabo website is cheaper than through grubhub (which I forgot when ordering tonight's orange chicken). pick up can get pretty packed, long in-person lines tend to move slow, and orders can get backed up with wait times of 15-20 minutes. worth it imho. read more

Updating my review less than a month later. I have to say that I'm really impressed at how much Teabo improved in the last month. I have yet to try a lot of the drinks, but their Green Milk Tea and Honey Green/Black Milk tea (my two favorites) have improved by leaps and bounds. When I first tried them, the drinks were really bland and were more watery than milk tea, but now the sweetness and tea level are a lot more balanced. Teabo has also improved their bobas! They're chewy and slightly sweet. I have only tried the popcorn chicken here and they're also improving on that. There was a lot of flavor, but there was a lot of batter as well. I think if there was more meat/bigger pieces, the popcorn chicken could be big. The workers here are still really, really nice, and they actually care about the quality of their drinks. Just yesterday, I was asked how my drink was (Hazelnut Green Milk Tea), and I thought that there was too much Hazelnut flavor. They remade my drink right on the spot and asked again how it was (It was better). I was really impressed by the fact that they really WANT to improve their recipes. Also, just yesterday, the manager walked around giving customers a sample of the special for next month. He asked for our feedback and came back 3 minutes later with a fresh batch and asked us again what we thought. Again, I like the fact that everyone here want to provide a good experience for the customers and are open to feedback to make that experience happen. read more
