The milk tea has seriously gone down hill since the last time I've been here. I use to think this place was average and was ok if you wanted decent boba but it's way below average. I got the sea salt jasmine tea and it was super watered down and couldn't taste much tea, it's super faint. The sea salt cream was decent, if I want this drink again it's better at 85 degrees. My hubby got the house milk tea and that also had a light tea flavor and it tasted more milky than anything else. The boba is soft but I don't really like boba that much. The popcorn chicken is still decent, still crispy and flavorful . Overall, save your calories and caffeine and get a drink somewhere else. Total for 3: $ 27 read more

We arrived at 1:01 PM and placed our order right away. By 1:16 PM our food still wasn't ready, so we went up to check on it. At 1:20 PM only part of the order came out, and the chicken strips didn't arrive until 1:30 PM. When we asked about the delay, we were told that DoorDash orders were being prioritized, which was frustrating considering we were already sitting there waiting with our kids. We ordered the spicy Korean cheese dog, sweet cheese dog, potato dog, chicken strips, calamari, and two watermelon smoothies. Unfortunately the food itself was also disappointing. The corn dogs had soft breading, way too much cheese, and barely any hot dog, and the cheese wasn't properly melted. My three boys all tried them and said they only liked the hot dog part. The chicken strips took forever and were so overly spiced we ended up throwing them away, and the calamari was rubbery and not good. The total came out to around $70, which felt extremely overpriced for the quality of food and the wait time. Overall it was disappointing to feel like online orders were prioritized over the customers actually dining in, especially when the food quality didn't live up to the price. I used to go to The Old Teahouse at the old University Mall, but was sad when it closed down before the old mall was torn down. I am glad they reopened. The address and location is not accurate on GPS (old location). The new location is in the courtyard area directly across from L&L Hawaiian BBQ and close to Calicraft Brewing Co. Food is just as good as I remember. We really like their Crispy Chicken (basically popcorn chicken). There isn't much seating inside, so on a busy day, you may need to do takeout or eat outside around the courtyard area. The 2 young men that helped serve us were great. They greeted everyone that came in and were very polite and helpful. I would definitely come back for their drinks and food in the near future. read more

There is a good variety of boba drinks to choose from, and ordering is done through a kiosk where you can browse all the options at your own pace. They also offer food, though the prices seemed a bit higher compared to the drinks. I ordered the watermelon coconut sago, which was pretty good overall, though I think I might have enjoyed the mango version a bit more. The shop has tables and free WiFi, which makes it a nice spot to study or hang out for a while. When I visited, it was fairly packed with students, so seating may be limited during busy hours. This is one of my new favorite boba place. They habe my favorite jasmine milk tea. . They serve the boba in a bear cup which I'm sold immediately. The cup is shaped of a deadly like sb. . The tea strong and fragrant. The boba is chewy and has a good flavor. . I really like the small space but plenty of seating too. If you love matcha, milk tea and other flavors theh have it here too. . Overall I am a fan of this spot. They are located next to my favorite brewery. The service here is quick and friendly. If you went to UC Davis around the early 2000-2013 the old tea house was nostalgic. Their honey boba blizzard, popcorn chicken and fried rice and just being inside this new renovated space it isn't the same but some nostalgia. Tables where you can study and meet up with friends. I got their house boba milk tea and it Reminded me of under grad. I was too full to try their crispy chicken but it looks and feel the same. I stopped at this place on a whim with some friends on a cool December night... the staff were friendly and welcoming... they had cute bear cups and you could order any drink in them without an upcharge... They also had cute mini labubu keychains if you purchase $25 worth of products or leave a review! We ordered strawberry matcha, Thai green milk tea, and brown sugar boba milk tea... they were delicious and not too sweet (you could also alter the sweetness on some). This place gives free bear cups and you don't have to wait in line for hours at Starbucks! Jasmine Milk Tea 2/5* I had the basic tea with salted foam with no sugar and it was just ok. I could barely taste the jasmine tea. It was really watery. The salted cream was good though.. thick, salty-sweet, and creamy smooth mouthful. Popcorn Chicken 5/5* Good portion size and came out straight from the fryer so hot and crispy. Chicken was big chunks, crispy on the outside without too much breading and tender inside. I'm so glad Old Teahouse is back!! I was scared I'd never get to get my fave Green Thai Tea ever again after U-Mall closed. The new location is definitely redesigned to have a more modern aesthetic but is maybe half the size of the old location. Old Teahouse is definitely one of the OG boba spots in Davis which now seems to have a huge variety of them. However, their Green Thai Tea and their affordable combo meals is what makes them stand out to me over other boba shops! Perfect for college students. I can't say if quality has gone down since I've only gone once since they reopened. However, I noticed my green thai tea was a lot more watered down compared to how I remember it which made me sad. I hope it was only a one-time thing. Lovely seeing Old Teahouse back, and I hope they continue to be successful in this new plaza! read more

I'm one of those people who went to the old tea house back in the 2000-2010s. Old tea house back in the day was one of my favorite places to grab a meal but not one of my favorite places to grab a drink. Then some changes happened in old tea house became a little bit more drinking snack oriented over food than they closed and now they've opened this new location. Wasn't really sure what to expect so I came in early in their opening days and got a standard milk tea. When I ordered the milk tea, I was surprised that you couldn't adjust the sweetness, which seems to be a standard at most Boba shops in today's day and age. Got my milk. Tea took a drink, and honestly, was not really impressed. It was fine, but I really wish that I could've adjusted the sweetness. The Boba itself was good, I have to admit, it was a really nice texture. But altogether, wasn't super impressed. That being said, I do want to go back and try maybe another drink and their food. Location-wise, it is a tiny location. It barely fits like six tables, and there's not a lot of space on the inside, which the old location had which made it great for hanging out in. That being said with the new Davis Commons, I imagine people can just sit outside and chill. The people who serviced we were really nice, kept apologizing for some technical difficulties they were having and were very friendly in explaining to me that the sweetness couldn't be adjusted because how the tea was prepared ahead of time. Overall, the drinks are better than what it was back in the day, but nothing really stand out compared to all the other Boba shops in Davis. read more

The boba texture is pretty good, but there's no flavor - isn't soaked in sugar or honey. Lots of food options for late night snacks. The service is quick and welcoming, the drink pickup spot is in a bit of an awkward corner with 1) a table next to it 2) the line for ordering is in the way of people picking up drinks, but the cashier does a great job of bringing the drinks out. read more

Many of my older friends have talked to me about the old tea house and that it was good. I was excited to have a nearby boba location but I don't think that will be happening. Tried the matcha latte and it was just sweet milk. The employee told us that there was a bad batch that was made today AFTER we paid and sat down and finally received the drink. He offered to get us another drink though which was better- mango green tea. It was very sweet though. Also tried the mango sago coconut but it was also just milk and the sago was dry??? Also thought this could be a nice place to study but the music inside got progressively louder and there is no wifi. This place is just a takeout location. Overall, I was unimpressed and would rather make the trip downtown for boba than come here. Side note: there are more smoothie options than teas even though the name has teahouse. Great location -- located in the mall , lots of shops around, also nice playground right in front of the shop. Inside -- minimum decoration and small seating area. Simple and clean. The staff who helped me order was friendly. Unfortunately, the Jasmine milk tea is very disappointing, the appreciation level is so low that I would rather take water instead of the milk tea just ordered. I used to go to the "Old" Old teahouse on a weekly basis and liked the drinks as well as the food. On my first visit here I got the house milk tea with boba. The milk tea was average and the boba was bland and essentially unsweetened. I came back to try the food and enjoyed that much better. The popcorn chicken is similar to how I remember it with a nice crispy exterior. I didnt see an option to add spice but I added some hot chili paste from home and it made it better. I also go the kimchi tofu stew with beef and it was pretty tasty. It came with rice so it was perfect to scoop a spoonful of the soup over. read more

Literally the cutest bear cups and the nicest staff! I got the sea salt crème jasmine milk tea and watermelon jasmine fruit tea for my hubby. Both 50% sweetness with added boba. Price was about $7 per drink. Boba had good chewy texture. Our drinks could've used more flavor. The jasmine tea was mild. My hubby said the same thing about the watermelon flavor in his drink. He did like that there was real bits of watermelon. This is a newly opened business, so hopefully they can work on their tea flavors. Great location. It's a boba tea kinda night at Davis Old Teahouse! New spot compared to its former location/orientation at University Mall during my undergrad days. I had an event nearby at Calicraft Brewery so stopped in for an evening boba drink. I got a Strawberry Matcha Latte with sago in a bear cup (no upcharge!). They also have super cute mini labubu Keychains if you enter a raffle, write a Google or Yelp review, or spend $25! Kiosk ordering or cashiers at the counter. Free wifi too and six or so tables if you want to hang out. Located next to Paris Banh Mi. I always judge a boba spot based on the flavor of tea and how the boba is cooked. The tea flavor is there and not bitter. The boba has a good chewy consistency through and not over or under done. I also like that's it not automatically brown sugar boba. We all don't like brown sugar boba don't was nice that it was plain. Small inside with a few table to sit and work at. It is in a busier plaza, so be prepared to look for parking if you come during peak times. I would definitely come back and try more things. I got the house boba milk tea. read more

The Old Teahouse offers fried snacks, kimchi stew, and many drinks. I decided to order a Jasmine milk tea because it's normally a good indicator of sweetness level and is a generally easy drink to make. I asked to adjust the sweetness level and they do not offer it and told me they pre make their drinks. The jasmine has a large ratio of milk to tea and tasted extremely watered down with just a strong taste of milk. I have tried their snacks and they are not bad but everything here is extremely overpriced for low quality ingredients. The workers are also usually chatty with their friends that come by and ignore customers. read more

Love this place! I got the popcorn chicken and Thai green tea combo and it was so good. The chicken was crispy & well seasoned and the Thai green tea was rich and creamy without being overly sweet, which is exactly how I like it. Service was friendly and quick, and the vibe is cozy. I'd say it's 4.5 but rounded up to 5! The service and warmth from the employees bumped it up. I prefer my milk tea to be a bit stronger, but... I do prefer my coffee black with zero sugar and cream so it comes down to preference. I'd go with any of the Thai teas as they offer Thai green as well! They also offer 4 piece chicken egg rolls (I think a new menu item) for $5! Tastes like it's made in-house vs store bought. I think Panda Express sells theirs for $2 so definitely a good price. I'll be back for late night munchies and drinks soon read more

Came here with a few friends and we all got the crunchy chicken bowl combo (mine with no spice because I'm a wimp, but I tried one and I probably could have handled it) with the house milk tea. The chicken tastes so good and is very crispy! Wish they had some kind of sauce to go with the bowl though because just the rice and edamame was kind of plain. I liked the milk tea as well. I got the Coconut Blue Cloud Matcha. Before I even taste the drink, it is gorgeous! Probably the most beautiful drink I have ever seen. It's green matcha foam on top, then this bright blue liquid and white/milk bottom. Once you mix it, it becomes a turquois color. It also taste really good. Refreshing coconut milk/water, subtle sweetness (70% sugar) and strong matcha. When you get to the bottom, you get the bits of coconut. Not as "presentable" as the authentic Molly Tea (no fancy straw or seal), but the osmanthus oolong milk tea was on par taste wise. The menu is smaller than other boba places, but each drink I've had here has been good. I love a blend of strong tea flavor and not overly sweetened milk tea, which is what they have to offer! My go-to drinks are their house milk tea or liquid gold, and when I want something fruity, I opt for their lychee black tea (aka lychee on lychee). I suggest getting the drinks half sweet if you don't want your drinks too bland but also not too sweet. The staff here has always been local college students who offer kind and speedy service. I'm never in here more than a few minutes unless I'm ordering a lot of drinks. It's small inside the store so if there's a lot of people in line, it's best to wait outside. It's not really a place to sit down and chat, but to take your drink to go which is fine since it's located downtown.

I got the vanilla lavender earl grey cold foam latte which was a seasonal drink and it was very good. I also got a savory breakfast croissant which I gobbled down before I could take a picture. They had plenty of seating areas so great for students to study or just a place to catch up with friends. Will be back to try a hot coffee next time.

If there's no parking in front of Yang Kee you could park in the Safeway lot which is right next to the restaurant. I came with 2 other people on a Friday evening around 630pm. It was busy and bustling! We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes for a table. There was nowhere to wait in the restaurant, but there were a couple of chairs. It was very hot outside so we didn't feel like waiting outside. Here's a tip! They have a Yelp check-in waitlist so if you have the Yelp app you can check in before you get to the restaurant. If I go here again, then I will check in from the Yelp app while I'm traveling there. The restaurant felt warm for a hot day outside. The AC was not on high enough. They also had a big fan going but it was still warm. The ambiance is casual. They don't have a large extensive menu, but after eating the food you can tell they place an emphasis on the quality of each dish. From the server, we learned that they have locations in Elk Grove and Roseville. You cannot eat in the Elk Grove restaurant and it is to go orders only. The server informed us that the Elk Grove menu is more extensive than the Davis one. Yang Kee dumpling is mainly known for their soup dumplings. They do have other Chinese dishes as well. We ordered the Yang Keep soup dumpling sampler which included two crab, two black truffle, two pork, and two shrimp loofah dumping flavors, the pan fried pork dumplings, seasonal vegetable dish, salt and pepper spare ribs, and pineapple buns. Even though it was busy and crowded right shortly after we ordered the food the food came out quickly in about 10 to 15 minutes! I tried the crab, black truffle, and shrimp, loofah dumplings. There was a lot of soup in the soup dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were also good but the exterior is a little bit hard to eat since it's tough. Also, when I bit into the exterior it seemed like the soup was hot to eat and I had to wait for it to cool. The soup dumplings were easier to eat and weren't as hot since the dough is thinner. My favorite was the black truffle and shrimp loofah. The black truffle had a very strong flavor of mushroom and had a unami taste. The shrimp loofah had big pieces of shrimp in it. There are two dipping sauces spicy chili and black vinegar/soy sauce for the dumplings. The seasonal vegetable dish came with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and green beans. My friend did not want the carrot so we excluded the carrots from the dish. Usually it is garlic flavored but they said that we could add black bean sauce or make it spicy. We chose to add the black bean sauce. The dish still had an overall strong garlic flavor with a little bit of black bean sauce. I feel like there could've been more black bean sauce. The vegetables were very fresh. It was a simple dish and not strong in flavor but was delicious! The pork spareribs were fried and had a very crispy exterior and the pork was not dry and moist. There were onion and jalapeño toppings which added a lot of flavor to the pork. We finished all the dishes between the three of us. We also ordered the pineapple buns and they said they could bring it out at the end. The waitress said that we should order the pineapple buns when she was taking our order because sometimes they run out by the time people decide if they want to order since it was already the evening. An order comes with three buns. I love pineapple buns and they're my favorite at Asian bakeries and when I bit into it l there were small pieces of pineapple inside which was a surprise. The bun was very soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food is delicious and great quality and not overly salty with lots of flavor. Service was okay since it was very busy and it was warm inside and the AC wasn't cold enough but the excellent food made up for it! I will definitely come back and want to try the Elk Grove and Roseville locations. I looked at the menu for the Roseville location and the menu is larger than the Davis location.

It was my first time and I always like to go with their recommendations, which is Furikake Bomb Ahi and Salmon Bomb. Great names because they were bombs! 3. Select Loaded Options aka toppings! I like that you pick a style which includes a set of toppings, instead of selecting the toppings individually. I bet that saves a lot of time. We both got the Delilah's Style which has seaweed salad, cucumbers, surimi crab, wonton chips, edamame, mangoes, massago, furikake and unagi sauce. If you like it spicy, I would get the Tropical Style with spicy mayo. Ahi and Salmon were fresh with mild (but tasty) seasoning that's not too much that you can still taste the fish. I absolutely love the wonton chips. This is not the typical wonton chips. Incredibly crunchy and thicker pieces. The toppings are vibrant, fresh and delicious! The portions are generous. I couldn't finish it in one sitting. Next time I go back I want to try the sushi wrap and musubis. This is a hidden gem in Davis.

I think it would have been better if it were heated. This cafe is somewhat small. While there is a good amount of seating, it gets pretty packed in here. I'd say my biggest con of this cafe if you're drinking your coffee there are the seats and the lack of electrical outlets to charge your computer. The bar stools are pretty uncomfortable. I really could only sit the stool for about an hour. Since the stools didn't have a backrest, I started getting sore. I'd definitely get coffee here again.

Now they have their own storefront with a ton more options to customize your meal, and more options and things to order overall. The storefront is not huge, but I don't think it needs to be. It's clean and pretty well organized. The service is also fine. I ordered a combo rice bowl and was glad to be able to add extra toppings like tomatoes in the such. Now, the one thing that they don't do like the old truck used to do is load up with sauce. The old truck used to drown your bowl in sauce whereas now they're a little more conservative, but I imagine you could ask for more if you wanted more. The bowl itself tasted good. It's not going to be the best Halal food that you'll get in Davis or anywhere else in the world, but it tasted nostalgic, and I really enjoyed the whole thing. My husband who is currently on campus more than I am noted that the storefront gives you more food than the food truck at the silo. He also said that the food tasted better here.

The dishes we tried were: - I12 Dan dan noodles: 5/5 super tasty and flavorful, but quite spicy - G2 Sautéed green beans: 5/5 simple but soooooo good! - D1 Griddle cooked fragnant cabbages and pork: 5/5 again pretty simple, but very tasty and well cooked! - E7 Hunan style sauteed beef: 5/5 excellent, so tender and juicy and well seasoned. - I3 Farmhouse stir fried pork with rice noodles: 4/5 very tasty, but the texture of the rice noodles were a bit too slippery for my taste. - E16 Ma Po Tofu: 4/5 the sauce was amazing, but the tofu texture was a bit too soft and strange for me. - G4 Shaoshan stir fried shredded potatoes: 3/5 I didn't have a problem with this, but didn't particularly enjoy them either. Not something to go for again. The potatoes are kind of half way cooked. - C1 Laotan boiled fish with pickled cabbage: 1/5 the fish itself was tasty, but the soup itself was super salty like drinking ocean water! Food came out quick and was SO fresh and delicious!! We ordered the egg plant and green beans, spicy fried chicken (amazing & great spice) and the shrimp chow maine noodles! The spot looks clean and welcoming. We were greeted right when we stepped into the store. Staff was very friendly. The coffee was pretty good. It actually tasted like coffee. I got a Mexican mocha. My kid got a matcha. There's lots of other places that serve coffee but it just tasted like milk. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. I'm kind of sad that I live so far away from it. I'd be there every week. Bonus: they have food trucks in the parking lot. So grab some food while you're at it.

As a self acclaimed coffee "snob" in-training it was a huge plus to see them roasting their own beans. I knew the coffee was gonna be good. I got the vanilla lavender earl grey cold foam latte which was a seasonal drink and it was very good. I also got a savory breakfast croissant which I gobbled down before I could take a picture. They had plenty of seating areas so great for students to study or just a place to catch up with friends. Will be back to try a hot coffee next time.
