We came with my niece & her boyfriend who attend UC Davis because this is a spot they enjoy for drinks that's just off campus. We were lucky we got there at a time with no line because soon after, it rapidly grew. The solo restroom was also in high demand. This space is narrow with some tables & a long bar with seats in the middle. Large windows make it bright. Music plays, but with lots of people, it was a loud environment. It also felt cramped with all the waiting people. We opted to sit outside where there is ample bench seating & long narrow bars where you can stand by a mural. Screens display their beverage menu, but they didn't list drink prices. There are kiosks to place your order, but one was out of order. No real personal interaction needed to happen & workers stayed behind the counter. Ice & sweetness are customizable at increments from 0 to 110%. Fresh Taro Milk Tea C7 - 8/10 Very cheap for boba in general, no drink on the menu seemed to be outrageously priced. I choose 80% ice and sugar, I personally thought it was the optimal level of both since I don't like boba that is too sweet and watered down with ice. Excellent boba shop that is a walking distance from most of the UC Davis campus. I've grabbed a few drinks from i-Tea during my study breaks on these hot summer days. I tried their Panda Milk Tea (boba and agar boba), roasted milk tea with boba, and signature milk tea with boba. All the drinks tasted great! Their serving sizes and the amount of boba they give is generous. Tip: if you purchase a signature drink, you automatically get a large size (panda milk tea and signature boba came like this). They are also one of the few boba shops that give an estimate of calories for all items on their menu which is nice for anyone who tracks. They are always super fast with their orders as well. Does not cater to group orders: I work at Davis and this boba spot is the most convenient to buy for my team as a treat or for lunch. I ordered 7+ drinks and came to pick it up, only to find out that they don't give out bags.... I asked the lady, hey is there a bag because I can't carry all the drinks by myself. She told me I had to buy a bag which normally costs .10 cents but because this it was a new transaction and im paying card you had to use the kiosk to order a bag which now costs an additional $0.75 cents. Everything is done through the kiosk and I couldn't find a "bag" option, so I had to ask for help again. The lady clicked through and I was able to buy a bag. This caught me off guard because all the boba shops I've went too in davis never charged me $0.75 for a bag. My team loves boba but unfortunately because of this experience I'll look for a new shop to better cater towards group purchases. read more

Itea is a classic staple to the Davis town. A ton of variety to choose from- milk teas, hot teas, smoothies, fruit teas. My favorite is the strawberry fruit tea with lychee and boba. Since this place is close to campus, EXPECT the crowdedness. The good thing is they have indoor and outdoor tables. I typically take it to go and walk around Davis. As I like drinking milk tea, I have tried drinks and popcorn chicken from many stores, but the basil popcorn chicken in this store is the best I have ever tasted. One problem is about packing bag fees. I usually order their takeout, but the last time I went to pick up food from the store, I had a bad impression of it. When the food was ready, I asked for a packing bag, so I could take the food away. But I was told there was a charge for the packing bag. In the end, I had to leave holding a huge pile of food with both hands. When I placed the order on DoorDash, there was not prompted for additional packaging fees. Service is decent - I went with a long line but it came by fast. I highly recommend ordering ahead on the link. Since it's totally normal to have dessert before dinner :) you should certainly try their warm matcha pudding in a hot matcha latte. It is comfort at its best in 50 degree weather. They gladly adjust it to your sweetness preference. They also have generous amount of azuki beans for great texture in this delicious dessert beverage. The drinks are okay. The part that really irritated was that there was automatic gratuity added to my transaction. I selected no tip on the kiosk because there was literally no human interaction. With so many other boba joints located in Davis, it's a bit hard to choose which one to go to. It's safe to say that i-Tea is one that tops the list due to its abundance in drink and food options, not to mention it's cheap. Perfect for university students where everyone is scrambling to save money (I think). When I went, pre-pandemic, there was a ton of students there hanging out with each other and a line out the door, which moved a bit slow for me. The staffs are super nice and helpful in answering questions, plus the few I interacted with were hilarious. Food came out pretty quick too. Now I've also used their delivery service through door dash for my friend's birthday since I can't celebrate with her in person. Through the app, I asked if the staff could write "Happy Birthday" on the cup and not only did they do that, they drew a cute birthday cake on it. Thanks for making my friend so happy! Largest building I've ever seen an i-Tea housed in. While I'm disappointed that Davis is slowly being overtaken by chains, i-Tea is, admittedly, hands-down the best boba place in town to date. Sorry Lazi Cow, Teabo, & other OG shops-- franchises are here to obliterate the competition :') Super clean interior & notably aromatic (see: east Asian snack menu). To my understanding, this location used to be a textbook exchange/bookstore. In all my time in Davis, this lot stayed abandoned and n a s t y-- glad that a bustling boba shop could breathe new life into this street corner. SUN MOON LAKE BLACK MILK TEA W/ALMOND MILK & BOBA (0% ice, regular sugar): Almost floral in flavor. Ratio of tea to milk was A1. The menu item was actually just the tea, but the servers were gracious enough to accommodate my request. And it turned out incredibly tasty! Props to them. The menu offers meals & quick bites, similar to T4. Highly recommend if you're missing the caliber of South bay boba. I got 100% sweet, and it was just the right amount of sweetness for me. I know it's ROSE milk tea, but it did not taste super flowery. I don't know how to explain the taste, but it didn't taste like straight up milk tea. It was great though, and I would get it again! The boba balls were okay. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I have been to Itea several times before and like the honey brown rice milk tea with 0% Sugar there. It was good. I ordered the milk tea as usual today. Is that correct for the catering industry to do that??? Then, they use the same cup to remake the milk tea. This time is unsweet. I love iTea anywhere- it's the go-to boba spot. The short distance it is away from campus is so convenient and fun. Their drinks are always top-notch and so good. I feel like the flavors of the milk teas, for example, are much stronger and heartwarming than other locations. For example, the Okinawa milk tea tasted like comfort for me lol. The atmosphere is very lively and it seems like a great place to study, especially outside in the patio area. The popcorn chicken is so hot, juicy, and flavorful; yum. I also tried the unagi don rice bowl and damn it's pricy (~$17) for such a small bowl but at least they gave me a lot of the eel and it was tasty. This particular location is great for students on campus as it is located right across the street from the Social Sciences building. For folks that aren't on campus, getting to i-Tea will be a bit trickier as parking isn't the easiest around that area. You can tell i-Tea is well-beloved as there seems to always be a line out the door for it! Thankfully, the staff at the register are pretty quick and the line can move at a decent clip. i-Tea is nice in that they serve a wide variety of drinks as well as food items. I was surprised to find that they had ramen! I love ramen and am always willing to get a place's ramen a try. I'd say i-Tea's ramen is definitely above average for Davis. The price is over ten dollars, but the bowl that you get is quite large and filled with noodles and other ingredients. You can also order a huge variety of snacks like popcorn chicken. I found the popcorn chicken to be very meaty and filling. The chicken was of the white breast meat variety which I was impressed with. In terms of drinks, there are a ton of fun flavors to get. I actually ordered one of their fruit teas and enjoyed it quite a bit. I suggest getting a little less sweetness in the drinks as they can tend to be pretty sweet at 100%. It's kinda hard to find a place downtown that has all of these amenities without having to walk far. They have a good thing going for them. I've ordered the black garlic ramen and earl grey milk tea with boba here. The boba is pretty standard. I liked how when I asked for 30% ice and 50% sugar that they actually listened. I also noticed that they have a machine that shakes the drinks for them, which is so extra but very interesting/entertaining to watch. The ramen is not the best, but also not the worst. Like a review previously mentioned, the broth was too thick and there was more noodles than broth. The meat was a little tough, but flavorful. But the egg was amazing! It was perfectly marinated and boiled so that the yoke was still kinda runny! They are currently having a 20% off deal for all snacks and drinks (ends today!) which is probably why the lines are out the door. I have to update my review because the services for the past few times I visited-- food and drink are still great, but the servers/cashiers are so awfully rude. I don't think customer services means everything for a business, but I think the management needs to provide better training to just not be rude. There was this girl with a pony tail and glasses who seems like she does not want to be there. The day after their grand opening, they were out of boba very early, and so I wanted to make sure when I came back after a few days. This cashier just gave me a slight, VERY slight nod, and I had to make sure she was saying yes. She then rolled her eyes with a very quiet "yes". I noticed most of the servers don't speak English that well so the next time I tried speaking in Mandarin and was hoping we could get some more connections as native speakers. Nope, same girl, and she didn't even look at me once when I ordered. Honestly, if you really hate working there that much, please just don't be there anymore. I like itea the most for their variety of drinks and food options. I feel like mandro hits different with their specialized drinks, but in terms of coming with friends and accommodating different tastes itea does really well. I also really admire their team work and efficiency of getting orders out, the line outside the door is really because line space inside is small. The staff at the receiving area are also super accomodating ! Pricing is more on the 4-5$ side Seating is great to chat with friends and theres a whole bar of outlets if you like to study. Their boba is chewy and portions are pretty decent. Large and medium aren't that much of a difference. I tend to go for og milk tea which isnt too strong and a more mild flavor. Their mango crystal has a layer of agar jelly on the bottom and taste more like a mango slushy. It could be sweet but the jelly balances it out. I also really like their milky taro because it has real taro chunks in it vs the fake powder flavor. In terms of food, their rice bowls are okay ( mostly rice) but I like their popcorn chicken. I do admit it's more nuggety ( more meat) than the crisp of chicken and has interesting large chunks of garlic, but they balance the flavor perfectly. I was really excited when I heard this spot opened. It was my go to boba place in the Bay area because their menu had such good wide variety of drinks and snacks and was always opened late. Came here yesterday and luckily the line wasn't that full. Every time we pass by, line is so packed, out the door. Maybe that was because it had just opened then? We came yo try the ramen, but unfortunately, most sold out so we got the miso ramen. Also ordered the taro balls with golden yolk and fried cuttle fishballs. The ramen was pretty decent. I didn't taste the traditional miso flavor and the noodles were a bit too soft, but for a boba place, it was pretty good. The char siu was good, flavorful and lean (although I like the fatty kind lol). Really wanted to try their black oil ramen, but hopefully next time. Maybe they still haven't figured out how to manage the menu with demand yet. The taro balls are so yum, but really oily lol. Fried cuttle fishballs were pretty standard. My new favorite boba spot in Davis! I went to the soft opening twice and each time I was satisfied! The line goes out the door, but once you order, the wait isn't too bad. I got my ramen pretty quickly! The workers were friendly! My milk tea was really good and the pudding was too! The ramen was flavorful and loaded with toppings, so it's worth the price! The egg was also really good! There are a good amount of seats available and there's free WiFi!
