I really like the caramel macchiato here; much better than chains like Starbucks because you can actually taste the espresso. The service is hit or miss honestly. They're always pretty nice, even at 8 in the morning. However, there's definitely some workers that don't really pay attention. I order decaf because I have a heart problem and I've been served caffeine before for sure; I can tell easily based on how my heart reacts. I noticed the workers were prioritizing a friend's drink even though they ordered after me and they may have missed that it said decaf on the cup as a result. Giving 2 stars because I enjoy the taste of convenience of being right on campus but it's not so delicious that getting the wrong order is worth it. There's also extremely limited seating that usually taken up by others waiting or workers of the cafe so I just sit in the Student Community Center. read more

They have similar offerings to the main CoHo, but they have less coffee and pastry varieties. Obscured from view is a small kitchen where they prepare their food. It can take a while so don't get food unless you can spare at least 15 minutes. My favorite pastry is their glazed scones. Their berry tart is actually quite good, but at $4.50, its a bit too pricey for coffee snack. The rice crispy treats are average, the cookies are average, and the muffins are average. Like the main CoHo, the expresso drinks are hit or miss. Since its student run, the baristas vary a lot so you never know if you're going to get a watered down cup of milk or an actual macchiato. read more

This rating is for their service not the food. So I'm hella triggered by their service today. I've had some mouth sores the past few days so I've been eating soup based foods only. I was looking to buy a small soup but the cashier said they don't serve it until 11. It was 10:55. Idk their policy but knowing how long the lines can get, couldn't I have just ordered first and wait until 11 for them to serve it to me? I then said ok I'll take a chili cup and she said we don't serve that until 11 in the most unwelcoming tone ever. Why don't you suggest something for me instead of telling me what you don't have? I got out of line and waited with my friend who ordered a sandwich. I then decided to just get an oatmeal. The line was pretty much empty now and I was the only person in line and when I was next the cashier flipped her open sign to close once she saw me. Wow. What kind of attitude is that for a student worker who should be practicing friendly work etiquette? That's not all. My friend who ordered the sandwich had requested it to be cut in half but when she got it, it wasn't so she asked another cashier who came on shift for it to be cut in half and the cashier just snatched the bag from my friend's hand. Seriously? Like you may think this isn't a big thing or whatever but honestly that's some shit service and the manager in charge should really take action for some discipline in their students. I'm a student myself but tbh I would be so embarrassed and ashamed if I were them. I've tried to think of it from their perspective, maybe they're having a bad day but that should not affect how you work ESPECIALLY if you're working with customers. And if if it DOES affect your work, DONT FUCKEN WORK THAT DAY UNTIL YOU CAN STRAIGHTEN OUT YOUR PERSONAL ISSUES. read more

They have some pretty bomb sandwiches and a lot of options for tea and coffee! They also have a lot of vegetarian options when it comes to the sandwiches. The coffees, teas, sandwiches, and salads are pretty good price for the amount you get. It's just the things in the fridge that I find kind of overpriced. Other than though, it's a great place to grab something in between classes! The staff is always really friendly too. Student run so that's nice! Plus there's seating outside and inside (if you can find a spot though!). The line can also get really long, but they're usually very quick to serve people and if you just wait about 10 minutes, the line can die down quickly. read more

I'm really thankful that this branch of the COHO opened up on the other side of campus! Their Veggie Ciabatta Sandwich is filling and tasty! The service is good too. The only downside is that it gets super crowded, now that people have discovered how good the food is. Whenever that happens I usually walk over to the main COHO! Anyway, I'll most definitely be back! read more

It's pretty ok. The wait can get pretty long especially in between classes from 11-2. Chances of finding a seat in the SCC during lunch hours is close to impossible. The waiting area also gets really crowded. I don't expect great service and I don't get any. (but the workers are students and this is fast food service so it's understandable) The food is decent for the price. The only things I have tried are the chicken chipotle sandwich and the chili stack. The last time I've had the sandwich the price is around $5.75 (winter 2016). It tasted good but was super greasy. I have mixed feelings about the chili stack. The chili was good but the corn bread was so dry. But it was a filling meal for only $4.75. Pros: Good sized portion for an affordable price. They also have good vegetarian options! read more

This is about the black employee who was regularly rude to customers. Not sure if she still works there, but hopefully not since she lacked basic customer service skills. She kept wearing Alpha Chi Omega shirts and since i was a frequent customer, I saw her a lot. She talked down to a customer for not having the correct amount of money instead of just giving back change like a normal person. With me, she started talking about me right as I left, which was so unprofessional and mean. The next time I came by, she hid in the kitchen and just stood there drinking water to avoid ringing me up, then came back to the cash register after her coworker got me. The location was conveniently in the middle of campus and service was quick, despite how long the line could get. read more

Student-run, food is fresh and inexpensive. Baked goods, sandwiches, salads, wraps and snacks. Student staff are friendly and accommodating. A great place to grab coffee between classes. During finals week, coffee is half price. I filled up my personal mug for 75 cents. Check out the drink of the month - my fave so far is the strawberry basil lemonade, which was my drink of choice this summer. read more

They gave me the wrong order and the sandwich smelled a week old. I had their bacon pesto sandwich before and it was great but this time they gave me a vegetarian. I am so disappointed. I could only finish half and took the other half home for my son to try. The Greek lemon chicken and farro soup was also really good. I would have loved a little more lemon zing to it, but that's really my only critique of the food. Tenisha helped me during my visit and was super friendly and welcoming, which made a great first impression for a new location. My lunch came in just under $30, so it's definitely on the pricier side for a sandwich-and-soup lunch. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality, with plenty of protein and vegetables, and the pricing seems pretty comparable to the other options in this newly updated shopping area. Overall, this was a great first visit. The food was fresh, delicious, and felt like a healthier lunch option without sacrificing flavor. I've been waiting for Mendocino Farms to open and went a little out of my way to finally try it, and it was absolutely worth the trip. I'll definitely be back.

She was sweet to my toddler and clearly had experience as a mother/aunt/grandmother to someone because she charmed my daughter who is usually very shy. I walked away with a gorgeous tinned fish print of one of my favorite local artists, and a tote full of tinned fish from brands I enjoy and others I had not tried before. The selection is vast and really offers so much for both experienced and new converts to tinned fish. Mabel's is THE place to come to for your picnicking needs. Grab a blanket and make your way here to grab stuff. Small sized spreads make it easy, and all you need is some bread or crackers, fresh fruit and salami, chocolate and tinned fish of course! If there's no parking in front of Yang Kee you could park in the Safeway lot which is right next to the restaurant. I came with 2 other people on a Friday evening around 630pm. It was busy and bustling! We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes for a table. There was nowhere to wait in the restaurant, but there were a couple of chairs. It was very hot outside so we didn't feel like waiting outside. Here's a tip! They have a Yelp check-in waitlist so if you have the Yelp app you can check in before you get to the restaurant. If I go here again, then I will check in from the Yelp app while I'm traveling there. The restaurant felt warm for a hot day outside. The AC was not on high enough. They also had a big fan going but it was still warm. The ambiance is casual. They don't have a large extensive menu, but after eating the food you can tell they place an emphasis on the quality of each dish. From the server, we learned that they have locations in Elk Grove and Roseville. You cannot eat in the Elk Grove restaurant and it is to go orders only. The server informed us that the Elk Grove menu is more extensive than the Davis one. Yang Kee dumpling is mainly known for their soup dumplings. They do have other Chinese dishes as well. We ordered the Yang Keep soup dumpling sampler which included two crab, two black truffle, two pork, and two shrimp loofah dumping flavors, the pan fried pork dumplings, seasonal vegetable dish, salt and pepper spare ribs, and pineapple buns. Even though it was busy and crowded right shortly after we ordered the food the food came out quickly in about 10 to 15 minutes! I tried the crab, black truffle, and shrimp, loofah dumplings. There was a lot of soup in the soup dumplings. The pan fried dumplings were also good but the exterior is a little bit hard to eat since it's tough. Also, when I bit into the exterior it seemed like the soup was hot to eat and I had to wait for it to cool. The soup dumplings were easier to eat and weren't as hot since the dough is thinner. My favorite was the black truffle and shrimp loofah. The black truffle had a very strong flavor of mushroom and had a unami taste. The shrimp loofah had big pieces of shrimp in it. There are two dipping sauces spicy chili and black vinegar/soy sauce for the dumplings. The seasonal vegetable dish came with broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and green beans. My friend did not want the carrot so we excluded the carrots from the dish. Usually it is garlic flavored but they said that we could add black bean sauce or make it spicy. We chose to add the black bean sauce. The dish still had an overall strong garlic flavor with a little bit of black bean sauce. I feel like there could've been more black bean sauce. The vegetables were very fresh. It was a simple dish and not strong in flavor but was delicious! The pork spareribs were fried and had a very crispy exterior and the pork was not dry and moist. There were onion and jalapeño toppings which added a lot of flavor to the pork. We finished all the dishes between the three of us. We also ordered the pineapple buns and they said they could bring it out at the end. The waitress said that we should order the pineapple buns when she was taking our order because sometimes they run out by the time people decide if they want to order since it was already the evening. An order comes with three buns. I love pineapple buns and they're my favorite at Asian bakeries and when I bit into it l there were small pieces of pineapple inside which was a surprise. The bun was very soft and melted in your mouth. Overall, the food is delicious and great quality and not overly salty with lots of flavor. Service was okay since it was very busy and it was warm inside and the AC wasn't cold enough but the excellent food made up for it! I will definitely come back and want to try the Elk Grove and Roseville locations. I looked at the menu for the Roseville location and the menu is larger than the Davis location.

I like that you pick a style which includes a set of toppings, instead of selecting the toppings individually. I bet that saves a lot of time. I couldn't finish it in one sitting. Next time I go back I want to try the sushi wrap and musubis. This is a hidden gem in Davis.

It's not going to be the best Halal food that you'll get in Davis or anywhere else in the world, but it tasted nostalgic, and I really enjoyed the whole thing. My husband who is currently on campus more than I am noted that the storefront gives you more food than the food truck at the silo. He also said that the food tasted better here.

It tasted good, but somehow it also seemed healthier than the version at buffet places and at Mongolian BBQ restaurants elsewhere. Next, I made myself a salad and it was very fresh and full of different veggies and interestingly, they also had deli meats and hard boil eggs and other cooked meats such as grilled diced cubes of beef in this salad bar. So while it definitely had everything for vegan and vegetarian diners, it had plenty of choices for meat lovers too. On Saturdays, apparently not every station is opened, but the rotisserie station was available so I tried their rotisserie chicken next and it was very good. It was juicy, tender, roasted and seasoned to perfection. As for the dining experience besides the food, it's a dining common, but it was nicely laid out and the decor and color scheme throughout were calming and cool, not bad at all for a college dining hall. All in all, the Segundo DC is a pretty nice place to eat at and it sure beats the dining experience I had as an undergrad. These college students are eating well.
