I've been looking for a good Reuben since coming to Sacramento so I've been checking out a few different places. I found I love Mr Pickle. We ordered two Reubens. One was supposed to be on rye but my mistake I ordered two on their Dutch crunch roll. The rolls were excellent but I know they would've been even better with rye bread. Now I eat my Reubens with horseradish sauce so I ordered a side of horseradish mayo for my sandwiches. It added the perfect kick to a perfect sandwich. The sauerkraut was tangy, the sauce was great, even the Swiss was good. What a great find! The employees were quick, efficient, and very polite. The restaurant was clean, as was the bathroom, so all was good there. The few tables they had were full and there were people coming in and out to pick up their orders. So I downloaded the app and am now a Mr Pickle's fan! read more

Much farther than Zias and a bit more expensive. Also a distinctly more "chain" flavor, but much less than Ikes. The bread complements the sandwiches well in texture and flavor. They are neutral without being tasteless and soak up flavor well without sogging up. Sandwiches were filling and fresh enough to be satisfying. I was in town visiting family and needed to order some lunch. My expectations for the French dip weren't all that high, because well... it inherently can be bland. Boy, was I surprised. I discovered this sandwich shop last year and find myself coming back all the time. I usually order the tri tip sandwich with all the works on dutch bread (with bbq sauce) (10/10) and recently tried the mr pickle sandwich with all the works on dutch bread + honey mustard (10/10) which was really good too! Each sandwich comes with a complimentary warm cookie. From what i know they js bake store-bought dough but i've come to love the cookie so much that i buy 3 more for $1.99! The sandwich shop itself isn't that big, but has a couple tables to sit at and is kept very clean. All the workers seem to be wearing masks so even if it isn't something I care too much about with businesses, it was reassuring to see that my food was handled with greater precaution & health safety! Mixed reviews... I came here a few months ago to grab something and there were two workers standing around and one worker actually working. I thought one of the other guys who came out was going to help out but no. There were only 3 of us in line but after waiting 7-8 minutes without being helped I decided it was time to go. This time around I ordered a BLT on rye bread... since it was a pick up order it worked out fine. What I discovered.. the bacon is super thin but they give you a lot.. the lettuce is shredded but was fresh and the tomatoes well there wasn't much of it. I added avocado at home since I had it. The rye bread was not very flavorful I was totally shocked! I love bread so I had no problem eating my marbled French bread... but rye it was not lol! read more

If I could give a higher rating than 5, this would be it! We ordered catering for 1,500 lunch boxes for a large student conference at the UC Davis campus and they handled everything with grace and collaboration! The owner, Sally, partnered with other nearby franchise locations to store the supplies needed and her staff pulled in to make it happen including making sure ingredients were fresh and everything was proportioned stored, and delivering to campus. Every lunch box had a delicious sandwich, bag of chips, and freshly baked cookie. They were able to accommodate all dietary restrictions and we received countless compliments from our students of how delicious everything was. I have done many events with lunch boxes but this was by far the best sandwich. They didn't use regular sliced bread but instead, pillowy soft baguette and my veggie sandwich had delicious avocado. To add an extra touch, they had their garlic sauce in squirt bottles for people to add and it just made it taste gourmet. Sally not only made our event a success, but she also hires students, develops relationships with the community, and prioritizes providing jobs to adults with special needs. I've never been to a Mr Pickle's before, but had a great experience here! We ordered a Hang Loose on Dutch crunch and a French Dip on sourdough. Both were super tasty and satisfying! And you gotta love a chocolate chip cookie! Customer service was excellent--very friendly, easy going, accommodating with some requests/tweaks, and quick to take our order and ring us up. I also appreciated how well they handled another customer's missing takeout order. I got a whole French dip to split with my little one, and so requested only half get the horseradish mayo. The man who made my order went above to wrap them separately and label them very clearly even though we ate in & he could have just pointed out the halves. A whole Hang Loose hit the spot for my college nephew's appetite. The garlic sauce on their French dip sets their version apart and takes it up a notch. Yum!!! The jus was quite flavorful, not salty, & you get a good amount. The sourdough was soft with just a mild chew to the crust, which is perfect to me because I don't enjoy when bread is a jaw workout. This place is great! My friend who is local to the area recommended this place during a visit, so we took her word for it and tried it out. I'm so glad that we did! We even ended up hitting it a second time on the way home! The restaurant was very clean, as was the bathroom. The staff were friendly and had everything made quickly and correctly! Both times my sandwiches were perfect, and the second time around the bread was so fresh and warm. It was quite literally the perfect sandwich! I will say that the prices are a little steep, but I think that the quality of the food compensates for most of that. Also, I appreciate that they give you free cookies every time you go! Since it was lunch hour, the employees were prepping many to-go orders. But, we didn't wait long for our sandwiches to be ready. For this visit, I ordered the Mrs. Pickles whole sandwich on a sweet roll. It's a hot sandwich that consists of turkey, bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, and avocado. Additionally, I highly recommend choosing a sandwich that includes "The Works" since it really enhances the flavors. Although I have a low tolerance for spicy food, the pepperoncinis added a nice tang. The pickles were not too sour and garlic sauce wasn't overpowering. Other stars of this visit were the Hang Loose and The Mr. Pickle sandwiches. These ones are good choices for people who like hot pastrami or chicken breast. Furthermore, each sandwich order comes with a free chocolate chip cookie. And what's not to love about a complimentary sweet treat? They have quite a few ordering options - you can order in person via socially distanced lines with hand sanitizer at the door, online, or via food delivery apps! If you choose to order online, there's a rack with labelled bags so you can quickly find your order! I'm a pretty indecisive person, but I finally settled on the Hang Loose - a monstrous, delicious sandwich of pastrami, cream cheese, avocado, and bacon! I chose the sweet bread and everything except mustard and pepporonicis and it was absolutely perfect. The bread was delicious and fluffy, and the pastrami was peppered perfection. I am a big fan of Mr. Pickle's, however, this location's bacon is ick. Ordered the BLT and the person making my sandwich ended up using microwaved, pre-cooked bacon. The thin, pre-cooked bacon you buy dried from Costco (if you know what I'm talking about). The Mr. Pickle's I've visited in the Bay and Vacaville uses much better bacon than this location. I called the store and before I could even explain, I just said my name, the gentleman immediately apologized and explained what happened. I get it, mistakes happen, everyone is human. But he went above and beyond to rectify the problem. He not only remade my sandwich, but personally delivered to me. (Since i DoorDashed it) NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I wish I would have remembered his name, but my point is, they really care about their customers. Prices just went up a lot and that's the end of my time as a customer with Mr. Pickles :( I grew up going to the original location and have been happy to have one in little ol' Davis. I went to order the same sandwich I always do online and it is now $2 more than it was 5 days ago. $2 is a huge increase and I'm really not willing to pay $14 for a veggie sandwich. I've had Mr.Pickles several occasions before, at parties or just for a quick lunch, and it has never disappoint. This time I actually remembered to check in and leave a review on it. After much deliberation, I got the Hot T, which is a hot sandwich with turkey, monterey jack, and cranberry sauce on the bottom. It also comes with a cookie! The sandwich was really good, and it was less than 600 calories. They really do not skimp on the amount of turkey and the lady making my sandwich was very accommodating when I said I wanted extra extra pickles. That makes me super happy. Another thing was that I took it to-go and didn't eat it until maybe half an hour later, but when I opened it, it wasn't super soggy and was still delicious. So, overall, pretty good sandwich place. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the price, which is a tad-bit expensive. Well, it's expensive when I think about $5 footlongs. But Mr. Pickles' portion does get me full though. Frankly, yes the sandwich was good, it wasn't THAT amazingly delicious that it offset the price. I was initially going to to go to the Vacaville Mr. Pickles since I live in VV but i work in Dixon. I called the VV store and they were rude and they said it was going to be an hour wait. I was going to order 4 Sandwiches for myself and my coworkers and I didn't want to wait an hour. I decided to call the Davis store. The Staff was so friendly! and accommodating to both of my coworkers as they both are Vegan and have allergies. I drove there picked up my sandwiches, drove back to work in Dixon. I noticed that I was charged full price for a half sandwich. I called back and let them know what happened and they were so nice and so helpful! They did not hassle me or anything it was such a great experience! The manager Ilias was so sweet remembered my name and gave me a refund to the card used! Lived in Davis for two years, and this was the first time I've stopped by. I got the Big T which was pretty good! I also grabbed their chicken tortilla soup which was ok. Seeing that I chose a random sandwich on a whim, I'm assuming I wouldn't be disappointed in any of the sandwiches there. The one thing I love about the sandwich is the sauces they put on! They definitely don't skimp so I was pretty satisfied. The shop is pretty small but there's outdoor seating if it gets crowded inside. Sandwiches! I'm a huge fan of sandwiches and since there aren't that many good sandwich places in Davis compared to Sacramento then I have to suffice to Mr. Pickle's. Though the sandwiches here can be a bit pricey ($7-$8), I think it's worth it for what you get. Plus, you also get a free cookie worth it! I suggest ordering your sandwich online because you get 10% off which basically saves you tax :) Whether it's online or in person, you can also customize your sandwich as well here. I've had the Mr. Pickle, Hang Loose, Reuben, Le' Michele, and a few others to try and they were all very scrumptious depending on what meat you like and how you customize it :) As for their bread, the most popular and one of my favorites is the Dutch Crunch. I stopped eating that because it started hurting the roof of my mouth and it's not as healthy as wheat bread, sweet roll, or the variety of wraps they have to offer. Though if you don't care so much about calories then I suggest you get the Dutch Crunch! :) Staff here is really nice especially the manager here. I warn you though that it gets really busy during lunch hours since a lot of people want sandwiches during their breaks :P Be on the lookout for some of their deals.
