Shrimp and some kind of salad

Cuarto DC is my favorite out of all the dcs at UC Davis. The location is pretty good, it's a little bit out of the way vs other DCs so it's far but that has its advantages too. It's always less crowded than other DCs, the food is fresher and not rushed, and it's quiter and always space to sit at. The food itself is great too! I'd eat multiple times a day as a freshman and I would compare Cuarto to other DCs. Curato always had best food, especially during the special events days. It's literally THE SPOT to go to if there's yummy food at the dc. I never had a dry turkey or chicken there, but I did have nasty ones at Tercero or Segundo. Another highlight is the burgers made to order, that thing was BUSSIN I literally still think about it after graduating lol... though tercero had better fries... In general really good DC points of for being a DC, not worth eating there unless you're a student.

I was visiting UCD and a vegan employee suggested Cuarto dining buffet. I was so impressed with the food, service and the price. So many vegan options. More than other buffet places. They had a very good salad bar, veggie burger, make your own stir fry, and several vegan desserts. My favorite was the noodle/stir fry. You select the veggies you want then select a protein (tofu) and the super nice man behind the counter makes you a perfect veggie noodle. My only complain would be that there was no vegan pizza. If you are in the area I highly suggest going here. Skip the restaurants around, as I really had a hard time finding any decent vegan food.

    Fantastic salad bar!

I'm about to burst. I ate a huge salad, 1/2 sandwich, potato chips, rice, squash, roasted peppers, pickled green beans, something else pickled, cheeseburger, and fries. Don't judge me. Lol! I have a black hole where most people have a stomach. The food is SO GOOD! Keep in mind this is a college cafeteria. The salad, veggies and pickles were crisp and super fresh. Everything is supplied from local farms. Nothing tasted bland, or canned! You really can't go wrong with the salad bar. The greens vegetables had that extra crunch and flavor you only get from very fresh food. Something I threw into my salad had fennel in it. It was excellent and really complimented the salad. The pickled vegetables blew my mind. I'm not sure what one of them was but wow! It was sharp, sweet, and crunchy all at once. What a treat!

This is the most gourmet of the DC's. They have the most student farm products. The salad bar is always fresh and beautifuly displayed. The other stations include Grill where you can always get burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches Pizza station saute station pasta station desert island and Deli. Weekends they have brunch til 2pm (no mimosas or bloody marys tho) If you have alergies no problem just ask.

Rice pudding, cake, green tea ice cream.

It's honestly the first place that comes to mind when I think about sushi, no question. And just to put it in perspective, I literally drive here all the way from Sacramento. What can I say about the sushi? It's absolutely incredible. Today I tried a new spicy shrimp roll. I don't exactly remember the name, but wow, it was so good. Overall, your sushi is just 10/10. I also noticed you've added drinks since the last time I was here. It's been a while, so I didn't know about that, but I love it. I'm really into drinks like that. And they look just as perfect in real life as they do in pictures. Another 10/10. The only small thing I'd maybe suggest is working a little bit on the interior. But honestly, the atmosphere is still great. It really gives that cozy, homey vibe with a nice touch of Asian culture. I've been coming here since back when Davis Sushi & Fusion was in downtown Davis, and I'm genuinely so happy to see you growing. Your menu is much bigger now, and that's really cool to see. I wish you all the best. Places like this definitely deserve to be everywhere. By the way, I'm originally from Ukraine, but I absolutely love Asian cuisine. It's honestly a hundred times better than any fast food. Customer service: 10/10 Everyone is super friendly, open, and just genuinely nice people. ^~^

The dish is made up of the curry, a fried, chicken cutlet, and a bed of white rice. While there was nothing necessarily wrong with the quality of my dish, nothing in particular made it stand out. The curry wasn't exactly too flavorful, but the chicken cutlet was breaded quite well. For its price point, I expected either a larger portion size or better quality of food, as you could find better quality chicken katsu curry at a similar, or even cheaper price point within Davis. It took around 15-20 minutes for my dish to come out, although the service was friendly throughout my entire visit. The greatest highlight of my experience were the desserts/drinks that are created on a daily basis, in-house. The strawberry matcha was quite overpowering, as you could taste more of the strawberry bits as opposed to the matcha. The vietnamese coffee was extremely delicious, as it was sweet, yet not overbearing! The real star of the show was the banana pudding, at a perfect balance of sweetness, consistency, and price! I got the banana pudding for $5, making it an incredible, gourmet dessert!

Great spicy food and friendly staff. Food (10/10) - The food here is AMAZING! Perfect balance of spice to flavor and every single bite is electric. The sichuan numbing pepper in the Chongqing soup was DELICIOUS. Mix it with some of the white rice and you have a dish all by iteself. The chicken itself had a nice chew and was very fragrant. Loved the texture and flaovr of the vermicelli; nice bounce to the noodles while soaking in all the spicy soup. My one complaint would be that they have soft bones (sign of long boiling time) so be careful of that! Also got the spicy stir-fried pork kidney... don't diss it 'til you try it. Super good, with that nice bit of chew. Take a bite of pepper, kidney, and white rice and BOOM! Perfect bite. **Recommendation: Rice is a key component for the dishes here. Without rice, everything will be too spicy, too savory, and overall too overwhelming. The rice is the thing that helps tie everything together (as it frequently is) Service (8/10) - Good service; nothing notable. Nice people and I think most of them speak Mandarin. Service and seating was also fast. Order of things to come out of the kitchen was a bit strange: soup for the chicken, rice, stir-fry, chicken. Honestly, not that big of a problem but just decided to comment. Price (8/10) - The price here is a bit on the pricier side; $54 for 2 but there were some leftovers (had to make my own rice though). Some of the dishes are more worth than others. The Chonqing chicken was $25 but you got a large bowl of chicken with soup and vermicelli. On the other hand, the stir-fry for $20 was notably padded with vegetables and I would say a majority of the dish was not the kidney. At the very least, the taste of the food compensates. However, this place is likely not a college go-to. Overall, great restaurant that I will be coming back to again (maybe with my parents LOL) or at the very least, would come with a large group as it is more fitting for family style. Highly recommend!

Fast forward to now, my husband, sister, and I decided to come here for dinner because yeti restaurant was closed. For those who haven't been in here before, the best way I can describe this restaurant is dark. Paint is dark, booth are dark. Everything is kind of moody and dark. Definitely not my kind of aesthetic, but does that really matter for this restaurant? No. The service is always fine. Staff is always friendly enough and fast. When we got the food, we were pleasantly surprised, like I said before I have only eaten at the buffet here and that was over a decade ago. While we were eating, we noted that we actually enjoyed the flavors here more than we enjoy the flavors at yeti restaurant. Something about the blend of spices just fits our palette more than the other restaurant. We found that there was an adequate amount of food, they didn't skimp out on meats, and we were overall really happy with our meal. Is it the best Indian food I've ever had? No, but it was really good by Davis standards and consider considering that there aren't a ton of Indian places in the Sacramento area. I think this might be our new go to Indian place now! I'm glad I gave this another shot!

Kathmandu Kitchen is named after a city in Nepal, so it should be no surprise the food here is Indian and Nepali. While I can't speak to the flavor or authenticity of their momos or other Nepali staples, their curries are extremely delicious and distinct from other Indian restaurants and recipes I've tried. I think the first thing you might notice is that a lot of their curries have a touch of sweetness, and pretty much all of their curries have a consistent texture. They do an amazing job making each curry silky and rich and flavorful. Every dish tastes fresh and unique in their own spice profiles and marinades. I highly recommend the paneer tikka masala, chicken makhani (very similar/the same as butter chicken I think), kitchen masala, and basil curry. Also, their actual restaurant experience is very nice too. The staff is very courteous and professional. The restaurant is large, vibey, and clean. There are two reasons I don't give Kathmandu a 5 star. The first that both me and partner almost always need to add salt to the dish. I could see why someone might write off Kathmandu if they went a few times and wrote it off because they never tried adding salt to their dish. The second reason is that the spice level isn't as consistent as I'd like. Sometimes, asking for medium spice level results in almost no heat, sometimes it borders on too much. Sometimes getting hot spice level is hot but enjoyable, sometimes it's very hot even for me. Mild is consistent but Id guess that's because they simply don't add extra hot chili powder or something like that. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you love Indian food and want to try some Nepali spins and flavors.

I usually end up spending around 24 dollars when I add extra rice and garlic naan to the butter chicken, but honestly, it is so worth it. The portions are really generous. I have not tried any other Indian food spots in Davis, and to be honest, I do not really feel the need to because this place is just that good.
