Jenny was seriously one of the best servers we've had and she made our first time at Shabu Shack such a great experience. She was super sweet, welcoming, and really knowledgeable with the menu which helped a lot since it was our first visit. She explained things well, checked in on us, and was great at communicating when things were coming out or what to expect, which made the experience feel really smooth. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests and it really showed. The ambience was also really nice and made the experience even better. Really loved this place and the flavors. I got the two choice protein and the beef and shrimp were PERFECTLY cooked. Flavor was pouring out. I did upgrade to the Udon noodles and would highly recommend doing the same. I got the yellow Aladdin Sake and it was delicious! I think on the list it was number 6. read more

I come to the area occasionally for work and family and Shabu Shack is definitely a spot I'll be coming to commonly! The spicy miso and tonkatsu are my soups of choice and the beef belly (and other meats) are absolutely amazing. It's a cozy spot that's super welcoming and the food just hits great. The service is top notch too with this one girl waitress (i forget your name, sorry! Something with a J ) taking the time to explain the menu and etc for us and super courteous too. Shaun Shack in Davis a great choice for a warm and comforting hotpot style meal. I found their meat and veggies to be high quality and clean. In fact, the whole restaurant has a modern and clean feeling to it. You have the option of either creating your own hotpot or getting it in an all you can eat style. The best bang for your buck is definitely the AYCE, but if you're not that hungry, I like the fact that you can just create your own meal for a cheaper price. If you want other food items, Shabu Shack also offers up sizzling rice plates and appetizers. My wife got a sizzling rice plate and it was very tasty, but the sauce was a bit much towards the end. I also tried the chicken karaage and it came slightly over done. These were small missteps in an overall very good dining experience. My actual favorite thing I had at Shabu Shack was actually the lychee lemonade. It was a little pricey for what you get, but it was amazing. read more

I recently tried Shani Shack and I'm not even exaggerating when I say the food is so good. The wagyu steak is the star of the show. It's tender, flavorful, and honestly addictive. I genuinely can't stop myself from going back for it. I used to go for the all you can eat option, but if I'm being real, it's a little too expensive for what you get and not really worth it. I would definitely recommend just getting a medium or large wagyu instead. You still get that same amazing quality, but it feels like a much better value. One thing I really love is that they now let you make your own sauces on the side. That is such a great addition because you can customize each bite exactly how you like it, and it makes the whole experience even better. And I have to mention the wagyu fries. They are so good. It is hard to even explain, but they just hit the spot every single time. Crispy, flavorful, and the perfect side to go with the steak. Overall, this place is definitely worth trying if you are a wagyu fan. Great food, solid options, and something about it just keeps you coming back. read more

Stopped by to visit during a rainy day and thought shabu would be a great dinner! Came around 7pm and there was no wait at all, we got seated right away and the server was really prompt and friendly! They were doing a special for a free appetizer with the purchase of the entree so we wanted to try one of the new chicken wings in addition to our usual serving of Wagyu and pork. Our food came out really quick and the servers always stopped by to check in on us. The quality of meat here is really good and i think this location is almost better than the Elk Grove one. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We ordered AYCE and THREE TIMES our order somehow magically"didn't go through." So we just sat there for 10+ minutes each time waiting like idiots with NO FOOD until we finally had to ask what was going on. And then when I asked about our missing food, the server actually caught an attitude with ME and told me not to give HER attitude, it wasn't she that placed the order. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Maybe if your restaurant could handle basic communication and service, customers wouldn't have to keep asking where their food is. Also asked for napkins and never got them, had to grab them myself. Usually the meat quality for AYCE is low when it comes to hot pot but this is probably the best one we've tried recently + the portion size was big to make it worth it. Stopped by here for dinner, and we were thoroughly impressed with Jared's dedication and excellent customer service. Thank you again Jared! Background: Jared opened alone. We went at open, 5pm, for the happy hour and there was a line behind us. In around 15mins of us sitting, there were 6 tables filled, most with 4 customers each. Jared triaged the customers, gave everyone notice that he was alone and set expectations on when he could assist each table. I am writing this 1hr after and every table was well taken care of. Every customer left satisfied and even with juggling the line and various tables (more customers came in), Jared found the time to give recommendations, clear tables, cater flavor's to different customer's palates and refill everyone's soups. He kept the restaurant clean and was very efficient. Most of all we were really impressed when he went out of his way to ensure a customer was not overpaying by informing them of similar item combinations. Always good to have a shabu shabu spot in town! The interior looks very modern and clean, there's plenty of space and it's not too loud. As for the food, I feel like the quality is average. I got the wagyu fries, which were fine but just some steak on frozen French fries. I got the Angus cut and the meat tastes great with the spicy broth I got. Make sure you get the sauces. I also liked the vermicelli since the broth absorbs all the flavor into the noodles. Cons: kind of pricey and you they don't give any sides included like vegetables or small plates. There's other hotpot places I've been to that include a lot more variety and they cost only $5-10 more for AYCE. read more

After a long and difficult week, my friends and I needed a good spot to eat, rant, and gossip. Someone recommended Shabu Shack to one of us and we decided to try it out on a Thursday evening. It wasn't too busy, so we got a table right away. The food was great! AYCE price isn't too bad and I loved the range of options for sides. The only complaint is that the soju tower we received had 3 spouts and only 1 was working. It was kind of inconvenient that only one person could refill our drinks or that we couldn't just do all of it at the same time. So there was really no point of having three spouts on the tower. But the soju mix itself was good and definitely not weak. Our waitress was also really attentive and the overall ambiance was nice. read more

Service: the service was amazing. The server was very attentive and noticed when we needed help even without us asking. Food: My only concern is the food. We got the tonkotsu shabu and the miso shabu with American Kobe and Angus beef. We found the meat was was very good quality for both plates. Tender and soft like it should be. The miso broth was light and had a good miso flavor. However, the tonkotsu lacked any depth of flavor and felt bland. The rice was also hard and cold in some places. It tastes like it was just left in the rice cooker for a few day. The main concern is the thought to be sesame sauce.
