    Skewers

Our family of four came here on a Friday. It was not very busy, just us and 2 other customers. There was only 1 lady working there. People commented on the slow service but these are prepped one by one so I didn't think they were slow at all, for customized hot pots. It was a really hot day. The waitress was super friendly and offered us some complimentary iced hibiscus tea which my daughter loooved. Born and raised in China, hot pot is comfort food for me. These flavors make me feel so warm and happy. I did think the soups were a bit on the salty side. And it could probably use more veggies. But I liked the items we chose, especially the skewers. The mixed skewers were a big hit with the kids too, they liked the chicken more and my husband and I liked them all. The flatbread that came with the skewers was so fresh and delicious! Our meal was a bit heavy on meat and sauce, I should've ordered some veggie side dishes. Quantity of food was very good for the price. We ordered 2 pots with extra meat order, and skewers. College kids must have really good appetite because some people commented pricing was high for what you get but I thought it was plenty of food for us! I would totally come again. Great experience.

They are under new ownership and are called 866 Noodle Stop now. They still serve the same hot pot menu but they also have a new selection of pho. The special in house chili oil was flavorful and yummy. The portions are big, and they're giving out a 15% discount for their store's soft opening right now. It's still the same Uniboil but with more options. The waiter was very friendly and explained the new menu well. Definitely give them a try. :)

It is an amazing all together experience eating at uniboil! My friends and I love coming here and getting the hotpot. Best hotpot place in town by far. The customer service is amazing with great food recommendations and even bringing by complimentary drinks. Their ingredients are very fresh with so many options to choose from and the traditional spicy broth is so delicious :)

I was reading the other reviews and I dont think a majority of people understand that this is just traditional Chinese hotpot! Not everything is AYCE yall sounding greedy up in these reviews like what Anyway, this place is BOMB! If you're familiar with Tasty Pot, it is very similar in terms of service and in the way the hotpot is served! This place is Chinese hotpot though so it is my favorite!! I got the Superfine Lamb Shoulder hotpot with the Numbing Spicy broth and a side of instant noodle. I definitely should've showed how everything looked like when it was cooked but it was so good that I lowkey forgot and ate it Also, if you've ever had Haidilao before-- Uniboil's numbing broth is just Haidilao's!!!!! Other people said the portions of meat were small; first of all, did you even eat any of the other delicious ingredients up in there?!? The portion of meat was perfect in my opinion. The serving size in general is perfect to me. I get full hella fast so I had a little leftover and was able to take it home :) The place is pretty affordable for what you get as well. With the add-on of my instant ramen, it was ~$22. Not bad! People comparing this to AYCE is ridiculous. AYCE is usually like $30/person-- and not everyone wants AYCE !! This is perfect for those who just wanna chill and eat a good soup ^_^. Overall, this place is (as I said earlier) BOMB!! Definitely one of my top favorite hot pot places ! It's a hidden gem and truly deserves more luv !!

This place is just okay. It definitely satisfied my hotpot craving but for the price i don't think it is very worth it. I got the sukiyaki brought but it didn't taste like sukiyaki and the overall quality of service wasn't the best either

Bright clean place on second floor with plenty of natural light. Warm, friendly and efficient service. Hot pot mixes meat and vegetables were good and large portion.

I'm very disappointed. Only 1 person who basically cooked/waiter/cleaned & did everything. Maybe one more person in the back. On top of this an automatic 15% service fee for no service. We were a party of 3 people. WOW! We waited a long time for our food. I felt bad for the poor guy who did it all but I'm definitely never coming back here. My seafood soup was disappointing. I didn't like it at all. I selected the traditional soup and it was very overpowering. Tasted like a medicine soup. The wings weren't bad though.

Finally was able to get my hands on some hotpot in Davis. Hot pot is one of my all time favorite foods so I came in with high expectations, and that honestly might have been why I was a little disappointed. To preface I definitely have a bias to AYCE hotpot coming from the Bay Area, but i came into this with an open mind nevertheless. I ordered the certified angus beef hotpot with the Szechuan numbing broth (my usual fav). The broth was delicious and flavorful, they also accommodated to my pork restriction and singled out my broth to not have pork. I really appreciated this and because of that I can definitely vouch for good service. The food was okay, the hotpot heating device wasn't manual and had to be lit and turn off by the waitress with a lighter. It got really hectic and a lot of the stuff overcooked/didn't cook enough since we weren't able to adjust the heat manually ourselves. Overall, probably won't return but I enjoyed my meal for the day. It was also relatively affordable for hotpot (~$20).

Entered anticipating being filled with hot pot, though left with pho? What had been expected painted the idea I found a hidden gem and would be eating a nice hot bowl of hot pot, which looked great in the reviews and menus listed. Yet when we got there, other than the faulty QR code menus placed on every single table, we got menus for several meat combinations of pho and only pho. To our surprise, the workers were nice enough to bring in a hot pot when asked about it even though it had been mentioned that the same ingredients weren't necessarily all there. For reference, a few ladies walked in with the same expectation, though quickly left when told about the pho-exclusive menu. The hot pot was just okay, but the pho hadn't the slightest of the typical pho flavor, rather animal broth with rice noodles and pho-adjacent toppings. Due to its barren and quiet nature, I felt obligated to finish this whole bowl to not frame dissatisfaction among the shopkeepers. What could improve could have them sticking to what they do best and a full rebrand of signage and labeling aside from their receipt titles to prevent further confusion. To my investigation, it appeared as though it may have been one of the first and possibly only hot pot places in town, up until a year ago when two similar restaurants came up and around the block, taking their business and forcing this gem to stay just as tucked away as it has been a hidden one.

The bbq kebabs were absolutely amazing. Juicy, flavorful. The 3 hot pots were incredible. The meat was tender, the seafood overflowing. The Hawaiian chicken was incredible tender. The staff is always so friendly, going out of their way to help and make sure the order is perfect! I would absolutely recommend this place!!!

The numbing broth is on point but can say that the amount of meat they gave is too little compared to the price you can almost get ayce hotpot at this point Also, keep in mind they charge for gratuity already for 15% which i could say that the services is not that good but worth to go and get some food from them

It was good and the price was fair. I read other reviews and feel like they don't understand food service. It was perfect not being hovered over and if my friend and I needed anything you just called them over. The ordering was really cool I don't really like QR code menus but this is great for non English speakers because you can change the menu into your language. The feel of the place was so good and the server was really nice. The lady working also gave my friend and I free tea I think it's there flower tea and it was so good I would order it again because it was really good tea. Even my friend that doesn't like flower teas really like it. The boil was huge and I almost finished it all. Can't wait to go back :))

I wasn't prepared for the chilly day in Davis. I changed my outfit several times before we left the…read morehouse. The weather report said 65 degrees and overcast today. I went from a thin top to a medium weight sweater. We arrived in Davis I grabbed my jacket to pair with my sweater. Today was a day spent exploring Davis to see the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts (CCACA). What a great Conference. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. We looked around the current shopping center and my husband didn't see anything he was craving. He said we'll go more into town and look for a noodle place. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.

Unfortunately, this place has both bad service and food is not great. 2 stars for the price. Food (3/10) - I don't know how to describe it outside of the fact that it's just bland. I got the "Marco Polo noodles" which is just Chinese jia jiang mien. Let's start with the positives. I liked the noodle texture; it had a nice spring and were thick for a decent chew. Now, onto the bad. You could just tell that the noodles would be bland just by a look and smell. The smell of the bowl wasn't one of fragrant stir-fried pork but it actually smelled like starchy water. The sauce was super watery and had no flavor and I don't think there was even ground pork in the noodles. From what I could tell, it was some diced up mushroom and then black bean paste, without black bean flavor might I add. I had to add a GENEROUS amount of soy sauce and chili oil to make it taste decent. Honestly, I'd say it's pretty hard to mess up this dish as a whole and there's a lot of leeway on flavor but I have not tasted something that bland in a while. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the thai tea. This thing was so sweet that it was borderline undrinkable. I had to wait for the ice to melt in the drink before it was bearable and even then, it still left this residual sticky taste in my mouth. Also it's 4 dollars for canned thai tea; she grabbed it out the fridge. The only sort of saving grace of this restaurant is that it's relatively cheap. $12.50 for a good portion of noodles might convince me to go back(?) VERY BIG maybe though. I might want to try their soup noodles. Service (5/10) - It didn't really seem like she wanted me to be there. She kind of just sat behind the counter on her phone with an Airpod in the whole time. She was just on her phone the whole time and overall inattentive. When she was, she was just asking if I was ready to order (twice in the span of under 3-ish minutes). Ambiance (6/10) - Eh. It was just kinda weird. The lighting was dingy. Also didn't like how they left dirty tables around (clearly looked like they had been there for a while). Overall, probably wouldn't visit again. Might give it a second chance but food for price was pretty good. Unfortunately, bad food for good price is a no-go for me.

After looking at the menu, I opted to get some traditional soup dumplings, bbq pork fried rice, and pineapple bao buns for dessert. My server was Bing and she was nice and efficient. She came back to check on me a few times throughout my dining experience. My fried rice came out first. It was a LARGE serving of fried rice, it of course had eggs, carrots, peas, and BBQ pork. It was flavorful. Next came out the soup dumplings. They were brought out in a steamer basket with a top to keep them warm. These were amazing. The light and delicate dough, mixed with the savory pork filling, and the salty broth was perfection. Next came out my pineapple bao buns. To be honest, I wasn't sure how I was going to like them. To my surprise these may have been the star of the show. The dough was light and sweet, the top was carmelized and sweet, and the custard inside reminded me of a Dole Whip from disney (exept it wasn't cold, it was warm). These were pretty large and I'm semi embarrassed to admint I had 2 3/4 bao buns myself. Go here. It's delicious.

One note if you're a heat seeker -- the Pad Thai doesn't get very spicy, even when requested. I like extreme heat, so factor that in accordingly. Most people will find it perfectly seasoned. On my last visit I tried the black rice pudding with ice cream. Don't skip it if dessert is on your radar. Dogs are welcome on the patio, which is a great perk. Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I would come again to try out other things on the menu if I'm visiting my kid again.

My friend and I met for lunch at 1. We left at 4:45. It was so awesome that they were so…read moreaccommodating and didn't try to hurry us out of our table. We walked in and weren't sure if we sat ourselves or not. A server came out and showed us to a table with menus after a minute. It did take a little while for her to come back and take our order. We each ordered an XL bowl of phở ($18). I got the flank steak (tái) and she got the vegetarian (chay). The phở was delicious! The ratio of meat to noodles was appropriate. The add-ins (beansprouts, basil, lime and jalapeño slices) were the perfect amount for 2 bowls. We didn't eat the jalapeños, but we didn't leave anything else on the plate. I hate wasting food. I read that the service here is what is lacking. Our server came by twice to check on us, but didn't refill our glasses until I asked. She was the only one working the floor while we were there. It was busy enough that the noise level was high at times and then it lulled to just us talking. She didn't clear away our bowls and wasn't super attentive, but we didn't mind because we were catching up. As we were getting ready to leave, another worker came in, but the no one came out in the front for at least 10 minutes. One couple came in, sat down, looked at a menu and then left because no one even acknowledged them. Overall for us, we had a great experience. Food was yummy. Service was good for us since we didn't need much. Ambiance was elegant, but not. I'll be back for another bowl of phở.

It lacks real depth flavor, but at the end of the day it's just preference on how it's cooked. Plus you could always just modify it by adding different condiments but me personally I don't like to alter the art too much ! Also I came with my friends and he got ripped off, he got a small bowl size that was like 2$ less than a large and they were not kidding about it being a small size. I insist you to get a large or else your friend will be staring at you eat for another 10 minutes.
