On a holiday weekday afternoon, my friends and I were the only ones in the restaurant besides one other table. Manna has an extensive menu, and we decided to try a bit of everything. They also have tables where you can barbecue, but we decided to go with some premade menu items. Chicken Teriyaki: well-cooked, flavorful, and a good combo of sweet and savory! Jjajangmyeon: I wish there was slightly more meat in this dish, but the noodles paired with the black bean sauce were quite comforting and rich. Bulgogi Stone Pot: This was my personal favorite. I loved the sizzling hot beef and crispy rice near the bottom of the bowl, and mixing everything together made the dish more flavorful. read more

Stopped here on a whim about an hour before they closed. The staff was nice, the place was cleaned, and in my group we ordered mostly beef bulgogi and one chicken teriyaki. We also got the seafood pancake. The seafood pancake was kind of bland. We asked for salt and eventually put soy sauce on top to give it some seasoning. I wish we had a better Korean place here in Davis. Service was terrible. Other than my husband and I, there was one other table. They were pretty much done with their food. Despite it not being busy, the waiter never once checked up on us after we got our food, which felt homemade in the worst way. My husband got the bibimbap in the stone pot and I got the chadol for jang. Both had a severe lacking of protein/meat. It was okay, but certainly not for the price. The menu stated 1-2 banchan for his dish and 3-4 for mine, but we only got 4 banchan plates to share. It also stated the third refill would incur a $3 fee. That to me meant I could get 2 refills for no additional fee, but again....waited never came back and I think was in the back the entire time. We didn't even once get a refill of water. Waiter also didn't check up on us to pay after we clearly finished. Felt like you could easily dine and dash (please don't do this) because of how inattentive the waiter was. We won't be back. I have went to multiple KBBQ places, and this is the first that I have experienced HORRIBLE service. My family and I were seated by this older lady in the corner grill, and we decided to cook our BBQ. When we started cooking our food, the lady whom seated us came over. She took the tongs from me, insulting that "I didn't know how to cook" and "I was going to burn the pan", when I just put the onion and meat on the grill. She said to leave the tongs alone and was yelling at my family and I as we were cooking. We could not pick up the tongs or cook our food or she would come over and yell at us, making a scene. This was extremely weird as we saw multiple other families cooking, and they cooked by themselves. Their pan was black and burnt, but she was still mistreating my family. She also gave priority for cooked plates of food to white families who came in 30 minutes after us, while we waited for over an hour to be served. I am deeply disappointed as this was the first time I've been mistreated to this extent. Please reconsider eating at this restaurant and support other local businesses around Davis. read more

Saw it when walking around Davis and got it for lunch at around 12 pm. Was able to get seated immediately and it's nice that all the utensils and things you may need are set up on the table for you to grab. Staff was nice and helped answer my questions about the spice levels of their dishes. Bibim Naengmyeon - A super hot day so a spicy cold noodle was a tempting option. The noodles were cooked well, not too chewy and thin. The sauce was a good spice level and it was more tame if you dip it into the side of soup they gave. Meat was a little tough but the pear had a nice sweetness and the veggies like cucumber and radish added some freshness. Tried some of the tteokbokki we ordered as well and the rice cakes were the right chewy consistency. The dish had a nice amount of heat and we added the ramyeon in it which made the dish more filling. A solid spot if you're in downtown Davis and want some Korean dishes. read more

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Downtown Davis was bustling, but this place only had a few customers. Regardless, it still took quite awhile to get my food--which is not necessarily a bad thing; I hoped it meant that items were being made fresh to order. Came back after the suggested wait time (I was ordering food to go) and my order still wasn't ready. It almost looked like maybe part of it had gone unseen by the cook and not prepared. They asked me to come back in 6 more minutes. Which I did, but still ended up waiting another 10 on top of that. The young guy working the register was apologetic and friendly, though. I ordered jajangmyeon, jjampong, and samgyetang. The jajangmyeon didn't look much like the picture on the menu and didn't come with any garnish, which was a bummer. I added cucumber and pickled radish when I got home to give it some crunch. It was alright. Maybe 6 or 7 out of 10. What I make for myself at home from jarred black bean paste tasted just as good, if not better. Maybe we use the same recipe. :) The samgyetang was alright. Nothing mind blowing. For $23 I expected better. The jjampong was pretty good. It had beef in it and lot vegetables. The noodles were tasty too. If I returned, I'd get that again. The restaurant itself was cute and appeared pretty clean. They have an assortment of soju, beer, and makgeolli for sale. The menu is quite extensive. But maybe that's the problem--maybe in trying to have too much available, the quality suffers. Bummer, too, because aside from a Korean-Hawaiian fusion place in Woodland, there aren't many Korean options on this side of the river. I'm sorry but go to Sacramento for Korean food. I ordered JjaJangmyeon for pickup, paid over $20 with an additional wait time when I came in, and it ended up tasting like it came prepackaged. Straight to jail. When I was younger I used to pop in here to satisfy my tteokbokki and eel donburi cravings. But the dishes here are not worth it and the prices are insane. Sunday dinner around 7pm, there were many tables available. The only place to get Korean food in Davis. As for value, the meals were smaller portions than other restaurants in the Bay Area. The spicy pork bulgogi ($20.99) was a good size, definitely spicy, but it was delicious. As for bibimbap ($19.99), the rice was slightly mushy, but best option for veggies and protein. Overall the food was good, just overpriced for the portion sizes you get. 1. The jjajangmyeon was $17.99 for an average portion and it did not come with any kimchi or danmuji. It tasted good, but way overpriced. 2. House special galbi with rice and 4 side dishes for $32.99. The galbi was tender and flavorful, but the price point between the plate vs house special was incredible, especially when you only get 4 little dishes. The kimchi and fish cakes tasted great and definitely helped cut through the richness of the ribs. 3. Yangnom chicken, medium portion (6 pieces) for $15.99. Hot, juicy, crispy, and drenched in sauce. It was pretty good and satisfied the fried chicken craving. I liked the food, but it just feels like too much money for what you get. I'm used to automatically getting side dishes included with the course, not having to pay extra for it. I've been to a lot of Korean restaurants in Northern Virginia/Ellicott City, MD so I was really looking forward to this, but I'm not used to paying this price point. TL;DR - food and service were average, so overpriced, don't recommend My mom and I walked in around 6pm on a Saturday because we were passing through Davis on the way home during a road trip and were craving Korean food. There was only one other table there when we arrived so we were promptly seated. There was a steady stream of takeout orders but more people started coming in around 6:30pm. We got the tteokbokki as an appetizer, the sauce was watery and the rice cakes were soggy. I got the bulgogi bibimbap (pictured), there was barely any bulgogi, you can see in the photo that the fried egg was covering all of the minced pork they tried to pass as bulgogi. My mom got a plain sundubu which came with rice but she said it lacked flavor and was average at best. Each of these dishes were priced at $15-$20, so I was just expecting more. Overall, the place was clean and the service was average but I've definitely had way better Korean food with larger portions at a lower price. I think they only get away with this because it's the only Korean place that shows up on Yelp in Davis? Maybe their BBQ is better, but I'll never know because I won't be coming back here after this experience. read more

Updating my previous review and giving them 5 stars because we just had their fried chicken wings :) Finger. Licking. Good! Even after the drive time home, it still had amazing crunch. Under the crispy coating, inside was meaty and not over cooked. They provide extra soy garlic sauce on the side, but we enjoyed the flavor it already had. Since it warmed up to 77 today, we also had the Naengmyeon or cold noodle soup. They packed the noodles and toppings separately to ensure the icy broth doesn't melt in transport. Yes, the soup container looks like a Coke Slurpee but it really is refreshing. If you haven't tried it before, it's thin buckwheat noodles served with beef brisket, radish, cucumbers, boiled egg, and fish cake (side dish). Really like the crunchy Korean pear slices too! We would come here at least once a month because their food and service was wonderful. Today, it felt like we walked into a place that had changed hands. Food was marked up, and yes we knew cause we get the same thing every time. Service was selective, helped people who came in 4 people after us. Served that person first, and everyone around us. My partner got his food and I sat and watched him eat his entire plate. I told them to cancel my order and bring me the bill, he's done eating and I'm done waiting. We didn't mind it at first but it seemed like because we were sat in the back, they forgot to come and check in on us. We didn't have any utensils and had to go and ask them for some. The service was kind of slow too, but kind of expected from a family run restaurant sometimes. I got the chadol baegi jjampong, it was pretty good. The noodles were thick and they gave lots of meat and woodear mushrooms. I'd give it a 8/10. I also tried the Korean chicken, it was crunchy but too saucy for me personally, 7/10. This is solely based on one personal experience, so please take it with a grain of salt. My wife and I sat down and were greeted nicely by the staff. We then ordered our food. After waiting for about 10 minutes, another group was seated next to us. They then received their sides first before us, and they received more sides than we did. They ordered later too, and yet they still got their food first. We ended up waiting for about 25 minutes before our appetizer arrived including the sides. Then, we waited for 20 more minutes before our actual meals were placed at our table. We overheard them saying that they ran out of some ingredients which we empathize with.
