One of my favorite restaurants in all of Davis. The combination plates are easily enough food to split between two and the quality of everything is remarkable. One of the best Hawaiian bbq spots I have ever had and a staple in Davis

This place was very delicious! We got the chicken katsu plate (1 rice + 2 scoops of macaroni salads) , we just shared the plate! Very big portions so it was perfect to halve between us. Very quick service ! The interior is pretty small with three tables but there are plenty of outdoor tables!

There hasn't been a moment since my time as a Davis student, that'd I actively ignore the adorable Tims Cottage on 3rd street. Fantastic food, incredible prices, value for size and the feeling of home- only complimented by the sweetest servers. Shoutout to the sweet girl with cool glasses that always has my back. I (& all my friends) will miss Tims dearly when we graduate.

It never misses. Katsu was crispy and thin, sauces were the right amount of tangy, loved the mac salad (when you crave Hawaiian BBQ this completes the plate), they have a Hawaiian plate down to a science.

I highly recommend Tim's. I've actually been eating here for a while but the food is so good I always forget to get a picture. My fiancé and I ordered take out. I always get the bbq mix plate and it never disappoints. My fiancé got 1/2 bbq chicken 1/2 bbq beef. Both plates came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of Mac salad. (But you do have the option to do 2 Mac 1 rice or any other combination) We split an order of the 3 mususbi; 1 spam, 1 chicken katsu, 1 bbq chicken. The staff is always super friendly any time we go.

Everything about this establishment was great! Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for authentic Hawaiian food, that's decently priced, and also really great service that was so communicative and helpful. The restaurant itself is small with not too much seating but there are also picnic tables outside and lots of street parking in the area and a parking lot right next door. The overall ambiance was calm, which I am sure is to change when Davis students are back in session and flocking here for food! The food itself was amazing. Everything was fresh, and you can tell they were made with great products and was overall well made. Definitely satisfied our Hawaiian food craving and we will be returning.

I came in for a snack in the afternoon before the start of fall quarter, so I was the only one in there. The wait was reasonable. It's a small store with limited seating, so keep that in mind if you want to dine in. I ordered their katsu and BBQ chicken musubis. Their katsu was great and perfectly fried. The BBQ chicken was good, but I couldn't help not comparing it to Ono's Hawaiian BBQ, and with that, the marination just wasn't quite there. The musubi comes with a lot of rice and a piece of meat. Depending on how big the plates are, I think you'd get more bang for your buck.

I can to Tim's Hawaiian on a Friday afternoon. I wasn't planning on it since it was closed for most of the summer but I saw it was opened so I said why not. I've been here before, mostly for their BBQ plates which are typically two meals worth of food. But I have been wanting to try their burgers. I got a beef burger combo. The burger itself was just a regular burger, it had a good amount of sauce too but the burger didn't really stand out. The fries were the star of this meal. I took the meal to go and by the time I was ready to eat, the fries were really crispy and warm still. Overall, if you go to Tim's, I'd recommend the BBQ plates and don't forget the mac salad!

I recently tried the Chicken Katsu plate from Tim's Hawaiian BBQ, I must admit that I didn't enjoy it as much as I did their Chicken BBQ. Will post a picture of the chicken katsu ,unfortunately, I ate all of the chicken BBQ but it was super good ! The Chicken Katsu plate was priced at around $14, which seemed reasonable for a full meal. I found the chicken to be disappointingly dry and difficult to swallow. It's important to note that personal preferences can vary, and while I didn't particularly enjoy this dish, there are others in my friend group who might appreciate it. On the positive side, the cashier at the restaurant was extremely friendly and provided great customer service.

Our order: musubi, loco moco, chicken katsu plates, Hawaiian sun sodas. Characteristically college-town eatery: cheap, fast, big. Didn't try my partner's chicken katsu so I won't comment on that. The musubi and loco moco were extremely salty. The loco moco meat patties were dry so I had to add sauce to the plate which was essentially salt on salt. Good flavors, but be prepared to drink a lot of water during and after your meal. The restaurant was bustling. I don't think the cashier ever had a second to stop from the influx of patrons whom are mostly students. Food took about 15min, better to order online for takeout. Seating is quite limited both indoors and outdoors, but it is close to a municipal park with picnic spaces. There is parking to the side / back, not noticeable unless you're familiar with the neighborhood.

I ordered the chicken katsu musubi for a snack, and it was amazing. The chicken was crunchy and tender. For 3.50, the musubi was huge! I'll try their plates next time

When I'm planning to get takeout, Hawaiian food never occurs to me as an option. But Yelp saved me as I was searching for something different - Tim's Hawaiian BBQ popped up as an option and yes, the reviews spoke for themselves. I love me some Hawaiian food and on a cold wintery day, it sounded like just the ticket. I got the loco moco, which was huge! And my son spotted it and scoffed down about half of it. He had never tried loco moco and was immediately a fan. Who wouldn't love a ground beef patty over rice, topped with gravy and a fried egg, with a side of macaroni salad? It was a carbalicious feast! My family also ordered the BBQ Mix with Katsu (keeping the BBQ beef and BBQ short ribs, replacing BBQ chicken for chicken katsu), spam musubi (yes! Always order this when it's available). Chicken katsu is easily the best version I've had in many years - very fresh and not too greasy or oily. BBQ items were all tender and tasty. I'll definitely return - I ordered delivery through Grubhub and it was very quick delivery and food was very hot! Try Tim's if you haven't been here. It's worth a trip.

Mixed plate, portions are amazing! Check it out. Closest taste to food back home, comfort food.

Can't comment on service either; will likely update when trying in person. I'm kind of teetering in between 3 to 4 stars but ultimately decided with 4. The first comment I want to make is that the food is expensive but the portions are really big. I think that you can definitely eat at least two meals out of a single order. Primarily, the reason for the 4 star consideration is because of how big the portions are. I got a mixed BBQ rice plate with the short rib, beef, and chicken katsu. It was definitely good food but could be better. I think it was missing some sauce and the food was SOOOO salty. The star of the show was definitely the short ribs and they had a nice balance of fat to meat ratio and went great with the rice. The beef was a little bit on the chewier side and the katsu was a bit dry. The sauce that they did provide was a sort of sweet and sour sauce but just didn't pair all that well with the meat. The sweetish-tangy contrasted quite poorly but this is a just personal taste so can't dock too much for it. Overall, I think it is good and I will try to go in-person. Recommend if you're a fan of the cuisine or in the area! Big portion, fair price. Decent food.

Service ordering at the counter was friendly & patient as I looked over the menu. I eventually zeroed in on the Zesty Flavored Salmon under the Specials/ Rice Bowls. It didn't take long. Handing me the packed to-go container, I immediately noticed its heft. There was a lot of food crammed in there. As soon as I was back in my room, I peeled open the lid to get at the goodies inside. My 1st observation was that there was lot of salmon. A bunch of fresh veggies too. For being on the menu as a rice bowl, there was exactly the right amount of rice underneath everything else. This definitely was not a case of too much rice being added as an empty calories filler. All in all, it was quite tasty. Indeed, even zesty. & enormously filling. Just a massive bowl of delicious salmon/ veg/ rice w/ a sauce that tied it all together. In this economy, Good Friends Hawaiian Poke is a great value. We had the seafood tofu hotpot, shrimp wonton, garlic green bean, mongolian beef, half hainan chicken, and ny steak spaghetti to-go. Was a little busy at 7 on a holiday so we waited like ten minutes to get our order in, the guy memorized our order right as I said it lol. He confirmed and we got our soup in ten mins, ten mins for green beans and mongolian beef, another ten minutes for our chicken, then like seven for hotpot. Most disappointing was chicken, it's not hainan at all and just standard hong kong white chicken. Taste is fine and fresh but was sad. Best was the seafood hotpot AND the wonton soup. Both had great flavor and saltiness and was just sooo good. Wontons were very tasty and had a lot of meat, definitely both pork and shrimp, and soup even had little shrimp in it ifkyk. The seafood hotpot had great variety and flavor, my parents were pleased with the fish bits in it, the tofu was yummy bc it's fried tofu, the crab texture was not great maybe overcooked and I didn't like the soft cucumber but otherwise the broccoli scallop shrimp tofu fish bok choy was all great. Green beans and mongolian beef SERIOUSLY needed some wok flavor and wish the beef had black pepper because the seasoning was a bit lacking (wok flavor would be great here) and overall the vegetables were a little undercooked. They were addictive though I definitely kept going back for more. Hot tea is jasmine tea. Service was a bit lackluster but totally understandable and even though I was in a rush we were in and out by an hour and like ten minutes which worked. Ambiance wise, I didn't like how the lights are half brighter and whiter than the sun and half nicely softly lit. Tables are nice wood and a bit sticky but okay. There's random Chinese TV on the walls, very traditional lol and I think no music. Overall very pleased! Will definitely come back as much as possible to support, and highly highly recommend. I went harsh on Tim's because I was expecting perfect dishes, and even though some stuff didn't hit, everything was way beyond average.

What can I say about the sushi? It's absolutely incredible. Today I tried a new spicy shrimp roll. I don't exactly remember the name, but wow, it was so good. Overall, your sushi is just 10/10. I also noticed you've added drinks since the last time I was here. It's been a while, so I didn't know about that, but I love it. I'm really into drinks like that. And they look just as perfect in real life as they do in pictures. Another 10/10. The only small thing I'd maybe suggest is working a little bit on the interior. But honestly, the atmosphere is still great. It really gives that cozy, homey vibe with a nice touch of Asian culture. The curry wasn't exactly too flavorful, but the chicken cutlet was breaded quite well. For its price point, I expected either a larger portion size or better quality of food, as you could find better quality chicken katsu curry at a similar, or even cheaper price point within Davis.
