    The tropical bowl with mango
    Chinyere E.

I tried a poke bowl from Good Friends Hawaiian Poke, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it stood out from a lot of poke I've had before. From the moment I opened it, everything just looked fresh and vibrant. You could tell they don't cut corners with their ingredients. The fish was super tender, clean-tasting, and really high quality not overly fishy at all, just fresh and flavorful in the best way. Every bite felt intentional, like everything in the bowl actually belonged together. What really made it stand out though was how refreshing it was. The combination of the cool fish, crisp cucumbers, creamy avocado, and perfectly seasoned rice just hit. It wasn't heavy or greasy at all, but it still filled me up. It's one of those meals where you finish it and feel satisfied but not weighed down, which I love. The flavors were balanced really well too. The sauces added just enough flavor to bring everything together without overpowering the natural taste of the fish. Nothing felt too salty or too much it was just right. Overall, it was super yummy, fresh, and honestly one of the most refreshing meals I've had in a minute. If you're looking for something light but still flavorful and filling, this place definitely delivers.

Tried this new location out for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I love the wall art. I ordered the Poké bowl with the salmon bomb and spicy salmon, tropical style. Love all the sides it comes with especially the crab, avocado, and sunomono. I really want to try the one with mango next. Staff are always friendly. Everything was so fresh.

I was sooooo happy that my all time poke place opened a second location in town. Moved out of Davis but every time I pass by or am in the area I opt coming back again and again. ALWAYS high quality and delicious. Tons of pre marinated tuna and salmon to choose from. My all time favorite is the California salmon and spicy salmon with Delilah's style. Staff are always super welcoming, friendly and helpful when it comes to the menu. Few tables to sit at but also looks like they are still working on some renovations inside. If you haven't tried, I would HIGHLY recommend. This place is definitely my favorite ever.

    string in my wrap

got the zesty salmon wrap and it was so good, lots of crab and very filling. there was a lot of salmon as well, and the flavors all did well together. I also liked how the cucumber was marinated/sweet pickled. Definitely debatable whether to get a wrap or bowl but the wrap was not a bad choice at all. my friends got chicken teriyaki rice bowl (good) and spam musubi (average and not worth cost) My one complaint is that I was about to bite in and I saw white string sticking out of my wrap, super alarming imo and made me rethink coming back. Knocked it down a star for me. Workers go out of their way to be nice, inside was a bit crowded on the weekend so food took 5+ minutes but there was seating available. The layout of the line is not great but you get used to it.

My fat indulgent self enjoyed this large spicy tuna wrap. Never had a wrap from Good Friends Downtown before so cannot compare, but for $3 cheaper than their bowls, the wrap was fair and on par. Took a little while to get my food after ordering, but employees were friendly and place was clean. Would come back. Good fish, quality food.

I am a huge fan of good friends and wanted to try out their new location. It is located in a super lively plaza with many other restaurants. It wasn't hard to find parking around 7pm. I got a Poké bowl with sweet oyster ahi and spicy ahi. I liked the spicy ahi, but the onion flavor in sweet oyster ahi was too overwhelming for me. There are seatings inside and outside. Service was super quick and friendly.

Loved this place, right across from Fluffy Fluffy Cafe, same area with Trader Joe's shopping center. This is Good Friends Poke second location, we usually go to their first location Downtown Davis. I liked the parking here, lots more to park here especially if you go early, now to the food! We ordered the Poke Bowls with White Rice, and our two proteins were the California Salmon- I love how fresh the fish were, well seasoned, and the loaded toppings was free for the first 50 customers, so we were able to try the Tropical Style Toppings: Seaweed salad, cucumbers, surimi crab, wonton chips, avocado, masago, furikake, spicy mayo, and unagi sauce. The owner and workers were so nice and on it. We got free drinks for being there for Grand Opening Week, we will be back!

Really good wrap -- fresh ingredients, great flavor, and packed really well. The workers were also super friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back again!

We came here for our daughters 12th birthday, per her request. Their employees were very welcoming & helpful. Food portions are hefty & everything tasted so good! They gave us sushi nachos on the house & the kids Easter treats. Super chill & clean inside. We loved it & will definitely be coming back.

Definitely recommend!! I believe I got Cali style and it was so good! Really could not be a bad decision when choosing poke bowl styles! They're all so so good! The proportions are so big too! Definitely like the ambiance, great for a nice lunch! Service was friendly too!!

This is my favorite poke spot in Davis! The portions are generous and served in large bowls for easy eating. There are a lot of options and styles to customize your poke bowl to your liking. They also offer brown rice which is a plus in my bowl. The staff are friendly and very efficient.

Can't comment on service either; will likely update when trying in person. I'm kind of teetering in between 3 to 4 stars but ultimately decided with 4. The first comment I want to make is that the food is expensive but the portions are really big. I think that you can definitely eat at least two meals out of a single order. Primarily, the reason for the 4 star consideration is because of how big the portions are. I got a mixed BBQ rice plate with the short rib, beef, and chicken katsu. It was definitely good food but could be better. I think it was missing some sauce and the food was SOOOO salty. The star of the show was definitely the short ribs and they had a nice balance of fat to meat ratio and went great with the rice. The beef was a little bit on the chewier side and the katsu was a bit dry. The sauce that they did provide was a sort of sweet and sour sauce but just didn't pair all that well with the meat. The sweetish-tangy contrasted quite poorly but this is a just personal taste so can't dock too much for it. Overall, I think it is good and I will try to go in-person. Recommend if you're a fan of the cuisine or in the area! Big portion, fair price. Decent food.

Service ordering at the counter was friendly & patient as I looked over the menu. I eventually zeroed in on the Zesty Flavored Salmon under the Specials/ Rice Bowls. It didn't take long. Handing me the packed to-go container, I immediately noticed its heft. There was a lot of food crammed in there. As soon as I was back in my room, I peeled open the lid to get at the goodies inside. My 1st observation was that there was lot of salmon. A bunch of fresh veggies too. For being on the menu as a rice bowl, there was exactly the right amount of rice underneath everything else. This definitely was not a case of too much rice being added as an empty calories filler. All in all, it was quite tasty. Indeed, even zesty. & enormously filling. Just a massive bowl of delicious salmon/ veg/ rice w/ a sauce that tied it all together. In this economy, Good Friends Hawaiian Poke is a great value. Whenever I'm hungry in Downtown Davis, I'll be back.

But I ended up going again with a friend and decided to try something different, and I am so glad I did. I got the ahi tuna and salmon, and I fell in love. Overall, I am really glad I gave this place a second chance because it completely changed my perspective. If you are unsure about raw fish like I was, I definitely recommend trying it here.

We had the seafood tofu hotpot, shrimp wonton, garlic green bean, mongolian beef, half hainan chicken, and ny steak spaghetti to-go. Was a little busy at 7 on a holiday so we waited like ten minutes to get our order in, the guy memorized our order right as I said it lol. He confirmed and we got our soup in ten mins, ten mins for green beans and mongolian beef, another ten minutes for our chicken, then like seven for hotpot. Most disappointing was chicken, it's not hainan at all and just standard hong kong white chicken. Taste is fine and fresh but was sad. Best was the seafood hotpot AND the wonton soup. Both had great flavor and saltiness and was just sooo good. Wontons were very tasty and had a lot of meat, definitely both pork and shrimp, and soup even had little shrimp in it ifkyk. The seafood hotpot had great variety and flavor, my parents were pleased with the fish bits in it, the tofu was yummy bc it's fried tofu, the crab texture was not great maybe overcooked and I didn't like the soft cucumber but otherwise the broccoli scallop shrimp tofu fish bok choy was all great. Green beans and mongolian beef SERIOUSLY needed some wok flavor and wish the beef had black pepper because the seasoning was a bit lacking (wok flavor would be great here) and overall the vegetables were a little undercooked. They were addictive though I definitely kept going back for more. Hot tea is jasmine tea. Service was a bit lackluster but totally understandable and even though I was in a rush we were in and out by an hour and like ten minutes which worked. Ambiance wise, I didn't like how the lights are half brighter and whiter than the sun and half nicely softly lit. Tables are nice wood and a bit sticky but okay. There's random Chinese TV on the walls, very traditional lol and I think no music. Overall very pleased! Will definitely come back as much as possible to support, and highly highly recommend. I went harsh on Tim's because I was expecting perfect dishes, and even though some stuff didn't hit, everything was way beyond average.

The bibimbap had a healthy serving of spinach (yay!) as well as marinated beef. Banchan is a separate charge, so I skipped that. Maybe it was the type of bowl it was served in, but one of the best things about bibimbap is the crunch burnt rice at the bottom. OMG. I love the texture and the taste. Unfortunately this did not deliver. There was a hint of crispiness at the bottom but not the usual amount that I would have liked. It's honestly the first place that comes to mind when I think about sushi, no question. And just to put it in perspective, I literally drive here all the way from Sacramento. What can I say about the sushi? It's absolutely incredible. Today I tried a new spicy shrimp roll. I don't exactly remember the name, but wow, it was so good. Overall, your sushi is just 10/10. I also noticed you've added drinks since the last time I was here. It's been a while, so I didn't know about that, but I love it. I'm really into drinks like that. And they look just as perfect in real life as they do in pictures. Another 10/10. The only small thing I'd maybe suggest is working a little bit on the interior. But honestly, the atmosphere is still great. It really gives that cozy, homey vibe with a nice touch of Asian culture. The dish is made up of the curry, a fried, chicken cutlet, and a bed of white rice. While there was nothing necessarily wrong with the quality of my dish, nothing in particular made it stand out. The curry wasn't exactly too flavorful, but the chicken cutlet was breaded quite well. For its price point, I expected either a larger portion size or better quality of food, as you could find better quality chicken katsu curry at a similar, or even cheaper price point within Davis. It took around 15-20 minutes for my dish to come out, although the service was friendly throughout my entire visit. The greatest highlight of my experience were the desserts/drinks that are created on a daily basis, in-house. The strawberry matcha was quite overpowering, as you could taste more of the strawberry bits as opposed to the matcha. The vietnamese coffee was extremely delicious, as it was sweet, yet not overbearing! The real star of the show was the banana pudding, at a perfect balance of sweetness, consistency, and price! I got the banana pudding for $5, making it an incredible, gourmet dessert!
