Each time I've been Tea Villa it's been pretty mediocre. The drinks are fine but it could depend what you order. Pictures can also be misleading sometimes. I always look forward to trying the snacks here but it never reaches my expectations. Last time I went, there was a random curly fry in my popcorn chicken. Um extra flavor I guess... Not much to say about service except it seems to look like there's always only one person on shift when I'm there. Considering they serve drinks and snacks, I think there could be more ppl on shift but maybe it was just the times I've gone so it's none of my business I guess. The review is post facto since I just found out our local boba and snack place is now permanently closed. Based on the notice they posted on the door, it looks like they lost their lease. We've had mostly good experience at Tea Villa, and when we haven't, the staff have always, always course corrected. Pretty sad they're gone, and now it's back to traveling 15 - 20 minutes away to downtown Hayward or Union City. Why can't we have nice things on this side of town? read more

The strawberry lychee drink was above average, we chose 50% sweetness and it was not sweet at all. Nice ambiance with a nice view of the road and hills.Took a while for our food to get done but the fried calamari did not disappoint. Got it extra crispy and will definitely be getting that again. Surprised this place isn't busier whenever I go. It might be the location since it's on a busy street with limited parking. They have a big drink menu and delicious snacks. Busy Tuesday today. I heard about this place from an advertisement or a friend. It's located close to some apartment complex and that it was recently opened. I really like how modern this place looks and quiet it is right now unless it's during the weekend haha. Anyways, I don't think I tried fruit tea before since I usually get bubble tea whenever I go to a boba shop. I ordered 25% sweetness of the Tux drink and still tastes too sweet surprisingly. I was so excited to try this new boba spot in town. Upon walking it, it was clean, cute and modern. The seating is very welcoming and decor is on point. On the day I went there, the kitchen was closed so we didn't try the snacks. I ordered the matcha brûlée for myself with boba, Oreo milk and strawberry milk for the kiddos. They all did not like their drinks. It was just very milky and the honey on the boba was overpowering. My matcha brûlée was also very mediocre. Black Milk Tea with Lychee Jelly 50% sweetness, no ice. This was delicious, though next time, I'll go for the next lower level of sweetness since the lychee jelly would add some additional sweetness to the drink. Not bad. Overall experience was a 3.5/5. Rounded to 3 stars. I love the ambiance and the workers were helpful in helping us decide a drink. We ordered the scoop o'mango. The drink was quite tasty though, which tasted like a bingsoo or halo halo. However, it felt a bit pricey, total was almost $8. There wasn't a lot of mango flavoring in our drink as well... I was a bit disappointed. Additionally, the wait was a little bit long as others mention. One thing I noted was the menu was very vague, we had to ask a few questions because there wasn't a pricing or descriptions on some of the drinks. However, it does have a nice study vibe to it. There were a lot of seats and outlets. There were an individual studying there, and it seems like some of the customers were regulars. I was so excited to see a new boba place open up near me. The drinks here were not that great, the matcha brûlée is carrying all of the stars in my review today. It was a little on the sweet side, but it was the best thing we ordered. Matcha brûlée 3/5 I think if I went less sweet it would be perfect! Original puff 2/5 Very sweet, nothing special about this drink. Mango cloud 3/5 Very sweet but, good no the less. Citrus and Ginseng 0/5 This one was not for me, this drink made me wish there were descriptions of the drinks somewhere. I was not expecting the citrus peels in my drink which totally threw me off. Popcorn chicken 3/5 They have the seasonings on the side, I liked the Cajun one best. Overall the shop itself looks nice and clean with the decor, a good amount of seating, and lots of space. The layout of it was a bit awkward. This place does not have a parking lot and is on mission so you'll have to find street parking. Since this is a soft opening I won't go too hard on the service side. But the main thing I would suggest to management is to make sure your staff acknowledges the customer. I recently tried the boba tea at Tea Villa and it was absolutely delicious. The tapioca pearls were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of chewiness, and the tea itself was not overpowering with bitterness. Currently, they are in their soft opening phase, so they did not have their full menu available. We ordered from their top 10 drinks and the two (listed below) that we chose were simply refreshing. The drinks came out fairly quick, were not overly sweet, and the mango drink was my favorite between the two. We also tried their lemon pepper wings, that was also delicious. This Tea Villa location is on the corner of The Mix at SoHay, part of one of the newly renovated apartment buildings on Mission. The parking here is street parking, so it may be hit or miss depending on when you stop by and they are on a main street as well. Not much service, as ordering is on the kiosk now - on this particular visit, the drink came out a tad quicker, but it was very poorly made. I ordered my usual, their Jasmine Milk Tea with boba & grass jelly - 100% sugar and 50% ice. The milk tea tasted like there was only like less than 50% of sweetness to it, while the portions of the both toppings seemed like they skimped on it, especially after paying $0.80 (instead of the usual $0.50 for each topping), so I politely let the employee know. He fixed it with a bit more toppings, but the milk tea tasted like a sugar bomb at this point, as he added more sweetness to the milk tea, instead of remaking the drink. Honestly, I should had just dealt with the milk tea before the employee 'fixed' it when it was not sweet enough because at least it was drinkable, but with the adjusted sweetness, it tasted like I was drinking a mouthful of sugar / syrup with each sip. Anyway, I ended up tossing the drink because I was literally cringing and shaking with every sip - what a waste of about $8. Yayy Tea Villa has a new location in South Hayward! Or what the kids these days call SoHay lol. I've heard of this boba place being in SJ/Milpitas, but never got the chance to try it, so I was super excited to hear it was in the East Bay now. This place uses REAL tea, all brewed fresh and zero artificial sweeteners. The sweetness in the drinks are all from pure sugar cane! You can really tell this place puts a lot of effort in quality from their drinks to the snacks and all the way to making the egg pudding in house. If you plan to order chicken here, expect to wait a bit because they make their chicken fresh when ordered, not pre-made like other boba shops, but it's worth the extra wait time. First, I'd like to mention that there isn't a clear area to park near this establishment. I think general public parking is out in front in the main road (Mission). It is very spacious in this boba joint. The lighting is spectacular esp when I visited during the day. I came in on a day that was a bit before the actual opening celebration so the crowd was pretty thin. I ordered the Taro Potted Plant after being greeted almost instantly as I entered the door. I took the boba waiting time to explore the bathroom area. You need a key to get into the bathrooms and have to walk out towards the back of the shop, through a hallway of different doors. I think more signage can help here but I think the restrooms are not private to just Tea Villa customers. Seemed pretty clean to me. After I got back from the bathroom, my order was ready in just a few more minutes. The order in front of me was for a family and multiple drinks were made for them. I received my boba order and the cup was clean. It was very Instagramable so I did have to take time to take a good picture of my order. The mural was an amazing backdrop for it. I did the usual mixing/shaking of the boba before popping the plastic top with my straw. My first sip was okay and I felt like I needed to mix some more. Mind you, I asked and received an extra portion of taro chunks in my boba order. So it was a chunky boi but I was a big fan of the textures all around. The sweetness level for a taro-based drink was just right for me. The ingredients did not feel cheap and the flavors felt healthy/light to me. It was a pleasant drive home with my boba. First of all I have come here a couple times in the past month and would like to say the young lady at the counter working in the evening on Friday June 20th is unpleasant. Every time I have come in here it has been great, except when she's there. Her energy is off and my boba tastes worse when she's working. I always get the Taro and overall the tea is okay but a little watered down. Also this place could do with some cleaning. The floor chairs and tables were all stained which is frankly unhygenic for a place that serves food and drinks. Thatfloor needs some serious power washing and that furniture has to go. read more

The decor is nice! They got all three bins (trash, compost, recycling) which I don't see often at milk tea shops. The parking is tough since they don't have their own lot. CliffsNotes - Aesthetically pleasing spot with great location, but pricing is out to lunch! Tea Villa is the newest boba shop in South Hayward, and what a great location it is! Nestled smack dab in the middle of the corridor from downtown Hayward (where you'd find the likes of Once Tea and T4) down to Decoto in Union City (Sunright, Mr. Green Bubble, Tapioca Express, Caffe:In, etc.), Tea Villa has an ideal spot that fills a void. There is high visibility right along Mission Blvd., plus adequate parking along the main and side streets. Furthermore, the new surrounding developments are likely going to be populated with young working professionals, and this is just the type of establishment that they would frequent. I remember Tea Villa from their days in Milpitas on Dixon Landing, but unfortunately, never had the opportunity to pay them a visit, but I'm glad they have reincarnated right down the road from my own stomping grounds. The store itself is right on a corner (not a street corner though), with high ceilings and tall windows which bring in plenty of natural light. There is also plenty of outdoor bench seating provided by the complex itself. The interior is quite beautifully designed, with white colored chairs and tables throughout, including couches by the windows. Only time will tell whether they will be able to keep it clean. The high ceilings provide great airflow and circulation, so it never feels stuffy. One gripe I do have is that the TV screen menus are WAAAAY too high. It feels like I am craning my neck sitting in the front row of the movie theater trying to decide what to order. Speaking of that, the prices listed are WRONG. More on that later. Service is friendly and chatty, and the bobaristas look like they enjoy being there. Now, for the drinks. This is a sour point. I ordered a Taro Puff with Grass Jelly, and the taste was just so-so, to be honest. Worse yet, it was EXORBITANTLY priced. On the sky high menu, it says $6 in tiny font that is barely legible, but guess what? When they rang it up, it was actually a $7 base, which I didn't even notice until afterwards. They didn't even bother to tell me until I asked them about it later. Apparently, the digital menus are all completely inaccurate, and everything is at least a dollar more! So with a $7 base, plus 80¢ for grass jelly, after tax and tip, the total came out to over $9!!! The only other place in the Bay Area where I had to fork over anywhere close to this outrageous amount for milk tea is ChaChaGo in Fremont, and even there, the drinks include a lot more ingredients for the money. Since I live relatively close by, I may possibly return for another go, especially after a hike at my beloved Garin Park. It is still indeed a comfortable atmosphere for laptop camping, so I could stay for at least a few hours in the attempt to offset the cost. read more

3.5 stars: We tried the black milk tea with boba and popcorn chicken. Popcorn chicken was pretty good, but it lacked flavor. The batter was well done though, not too much and it had the right crunch to it. Also had a fair amount of basil bits in it. Wasn't spicy enough for me though. The milk tea was just OK, and reminded me a lot of a powdered milk tea which is not my preference. It did not have a strong tea taste. The boba itself was pretty good, it came warm and was fresh and chewy. Overall I don't see myself coming back for milk tea based drinks, but I would give their fruit ones a try. Snacks are worth coming back for, and probably the main differentiator vs other boba spots nearby. It's a good boba spot for the area if you don't want to go out of the way for drinks. Currently in soft opening with a limited menu, including popcorn chicken, fried tofu, fries, and calamari. For drinks, they only have the Top 10 drink menu to choose from for now. The popcorn chicken was my favorite food item I tried so far. It's super crispy and addicting! I added a lot of extra chili powder that is on the counter to add spiciness. Recommend sweetness is 50%. Mango Cloud is made with real mangos. Order this in the summer if you like your mango sweet. It's a smoothie drink. 50% is the recommended level of sweetness. Matcha Brulee with grass jelly is the best drink here. You can taste the matcha with sweetness. They burn the sugar on top. It's pretty cool to watch them do it. Citrus N Ginseng is very refreshing. The lime and Ginseng are very distinct in flavor. It's not a sweet drink. It's worth a try. Food: Popcorn chicken is good here. Just make sure you ask for extra crispy. Extra spicy is not spicy for spicy eaters. You get a good amount here. Curly Fries with Sauce is American meets Japanese. It's definitely flavorful, and I can see myself ordering this again. I can imagine their fruit teas being a hit during the summer because they're not overly sweet and not at all bland. I'm so happy that Hayward has a good boba tea spot now! Came across it while walking my dog, right on mission Blvd next to SoHay apartments. Workers were very nice and welcoming, inside was very clean. Nice chill music being played and looks Ike they have outlets and comfy chairs and tables to study and do work at. Citrus N Ginseng is delicious, I got it less sweet but would try it full sweet next time. Fried Calamari is 10/10, was crispy and fresh. Price for these two items came out to $18, which is pricy but I think it is a fair price given the service and quality of the items I ordered, and being mindful that prices have gone up quite a bit for all businesses in California this month. Highly recommend their mango mojito for those who are looking for something different that doesn't contain milk. They also have passion fruit, and strawberry amongst other flavors! I was a regular at this spot since they open. It was my preferred location for cold drinks. However, I have noticed that the cleanliness standards are not being adequately maintained. The floors would benefit from a thorough cleaning, and the white chairs appear to be in particularly poor condition and super dirty. Very gross to seat in them to enjoy a drink. It is essential for the owner to focus on improving the cleanliness of the space to enhance the overall customer experience. This place is nice and I would love to see it get better. I got served by Monica and the service was delightful. I ordered myself some popcorn chicken and a good ol Strawberry Puff. The establishment itself was very comfortable and I love the fact they had dragon ball playing in the back. Shoutout to Vincent too, the customer service was also impeccable. Driving by daily, I noticed a new boba spot and decided to give it a try. The menu was limited, but since taro is my favorite, I opted for the taro drink. Unfortunately, my excitement turned to disappointment quickly. When I tried to take my first sip, the straw got stuck. I expected it to be the boba, but it was actually large chunks of taro. Unlike other boba places where the taro is either mashed into a paste or ground into small pieces, the taro in my drink was about 1" x 1.5" and too hard to break up. I ended up drinking just the liquid and eating the taro chunks with a spoon. The drink itself was mediocre and not very cold, despite ordering it as usual. The boba was also disappointing--more hard than chewy, indicating it was likely pre-made and stored in the fridge overnight. Service was slow, taking about 8 minutes to get my drink even though I was the only customer and there were two workers. At other boba places, I usually get my drink within a minute or, at most, 10 minutes if it's crowded. The cost was another downside. I paid $9 and some change, including a $1 tip, which is significantly more expensive than the $6 I usually pay for a taro milk tea at the boba place across the street from my house, which also offers better quality. I don't think I'll be coming back. Boba spots can be hit or miss, and while some have specialty drinks that attract repeat customers, this place didn't impress me. They do offer a unique non-alcoholic boba tea with beer, but it doesn't sound appealing to me. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy. read more
