I really like the popcorn chicken bento here ($11.50)! It comes with dougan (firm tofu), cucumbers, simmered egg, minced pork rice, cabbage, and popcorn chicken. I love that the rice is not plain white rice, but rather has that extra flavor due to the minced pork on top, a Taiwanese classic. The popcorn chicken is not too oily, and pretty meaty. The chicken is not toooo strongly flavored, but I like it that way. I got pretty full off of the box and was even able to split it into 2 meals. Overall, I am a fan of every single item in this bento box, and I am a pretty picky eater. Another item on the menu I enjoy is their shaved ice with black sugar. Who knew crushed ice could be so yummy? The black sugar really elevates the shaved ice from eating regular crushed ice cubes to a delicious dessert. You can choose up to 3 toppings, and I usually get boba, green bean (slightly sweet yet neutral tasting bean), and small taro balls (which are chewy and pretty neutral tasting, and very small indeed). Each topping is associated with an additional fee ranging from $0.75 to $1.25. The base fee for the shaved ice is $4.00. The service was fast and the interiors were nice and clean to sit while we waited for our drinks. The drinks themselves are good. My group thought they were well priced and that we could taste the flavors we got. We did think the Cherry chocolate milk tea tasted more like juice. We did not mind, but someone who's looking for something with milk and or tea it might be a little much. The Jasmine crema was good, very subtle and not overpowering. I love, love, love the popcorn chicken bento box and boba here! I've ordered quite a few times through Door Dash and have always really enjoyed the food. The popcorn chicken is absolutely delicious (highly recommend!!) and goes amazing with the rice. The corn and japchae are so good, too! The bento box is perfect and I would eat it every day if I could. I also like how it's enough food to have leftovers the next day for lunch, and it's still just as good when I reheat it. In terms of the food, I would rate this place 5/5! Though I usually order through Door Dash and have it delivered to me at home, I came here just one time in person to pick up an order that I had placed online and did not really have a good experience with the customer service, which I've noticed a few other reviews mentioning as well. Probably one of my least favorite teas I've had in the Bay :( I got an Iron Buddha Vanilla Crema and the texture was gloopy and thick, and the cream just curdled into the tea. The crema was like a thick cream not more liquidy like Happy Lemon's cheese foam so it was hard to mix in. The lowest sugar was also 50%, so the drink was super sweet and tasted more like coffee than tea. I hate wasting but I had to just throw out 95% of the drink after nobody else wanted it either, sad :( read more

I like this place because they have great bento style meals. I had to make this review because unfortunately I had a not so good (and unclean :-0) experience here. I bought a popcorn chicken and found four black hairs in it. They were medium length and wavy. And I had already eaten through a lot of the chicken. The amount of hairs indicate to me that perhaps some of my chicken fell on the ground or some unclean surface and was put back into the box before it was served to me. CHAOS IN THE STORE, NO EFFORT TO FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES!!! The line when I went was short, just one person ahead of me and I ordered three drinks. It took over half an hour for my three drinks, in which they did not give us the toppings we had asked for, and gave us LEMON jelly instead of lychee... super disappointed. Girl working at front had bad customer service. She ignored me and didn't really listen, which caused the errors in 2 out of 3 drinks and was overcharged for topping. I would've asked for them to remake the drinks but not trying to wait another half hour. Online delivery service employees were cutting the line, there is only one door to the store, so entrance and exit is the same door. Many were not wearing masks, employees did not say anything?! Please figure out a system. People were squeezing into the store, it was CROWDED inside. Unacceptable. Need to have an employee who controls traffic, enforces a line instead of a big clump. Put in an order for 2 drinks, after waiting in a small line (-5 people). Waited around for 20 minutes until our drinks were ready. Most boba places would be ~5 minutes so this was a bit disappointing. Once we finally had our drinks, they tasted ultra-sweet even though we had 50% sugar. Ingredients didn't taste high quality. Lots of pictures but the tea and boba didn't impress the family. The fruity ones didn't suit the kids somehow since it was too sour. The guava has a bit of a bitter after taste. The jasmine milk tea was okay. The boba didn't have the kind of chewiness they liked. All the teas have way too much ice in them. I suppose it's one of those things where you have to try it the first time and tell them to adjust to your liking. It's hard to describe these things, but after a while of consuming tea and boba from dozens of shops, the kids kind of have certain preferences. I love this spot. The tea is really good. I usually get any kind of milk tea here with boba. Always great! Not watery or bland. Good flavors. The boba is soft and chewy in a good way. When you bite into it, every bite is super tender. There are even some fatty parts. The flavor has a light salt seasoning taste, but still very flavorful. Super comfortable taste. The chili powder they give you on the side is incredibly great. You might have to ask for it since COVID. Be careful, it's extremely spicy if you put a bunch of it. Favorite tea place!! This place makes me miss Taiwan. I sometimes come from Menlo Park just for Tea Era. Tea is strong, as it should be. I order something different every time. You can't go wrong with a classic black or green tea. Many toppings to choose from + the usual customizations with sugar/ice levels. I like their boba, grass jelly, and puddings. The lemon aiyu jelly was more bitter than anything else, so may not opt for that again. If you're not sure what to order, grab the roasted oolong with boba, 25% sweet, no ice. Didn't really like my drink. I always cut sugar down to 25/30% because I don't like my drinks too sweet and want to taste the tea -- I find it's also usually a good indicator of the quality of the tea itself. My drink was really bitter, not in a good way, with a sharp aftertaste; so I'm pretty sure they're not brewing the tea right. I honestly couldn't drink it and had to add some syrup to make it tolerable, which is a first for me at a boba shop. Also, they have a ton of flavored options here, which to me says they're definitely just using syrups and not focusing on the milk tea itself. Despite the claims of boba milk tea being unhealthy blah, blah, blah, go to any popular boba spot in the Bay Area and there will always be a line out the door. Asians love their balls and hey, it can't be any worse than having a one-night stand right? At least, you kinda know where these balls come from and you can't get an STD from them so enjoy licking, sucking, and swallowing [boba] balls all you want! Since there's hundreds of boba place in the Bay Area, a boba shop has to REALLY stand out in order for me to write a review... Came by for milk tea the other day and it was surprisingly tasty. Located in the same parking lot as McDonald's, parking can be tricky. There was a line out the door for my first visit and the cashier suggested creaming my black milk tea with half and half for a creamier taste. The sign by the register states that one can do both non dairy creamer and half and half for a more creamy drink...I guess that's not the case. Came by a second time with the non-dairy creamer option and the drink was much "thinner." Black tea was pretty potent and pearls were chewy. 50% sweet was a tad sweet for me... By far, this boba shop has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Every time I come here, I hope things will change. Each employee behind the register looks and sounds like they hate their job. I went today and the cashier didn't even respond when I was making conversation. You sure don't have to love your job, but you'll attract more business with a positive and approachable attitude. It's like talking to brick walls that only want your money. No thanks. For some reason there's a $6 charge for using credit/debit. Cashier didn't even bother explaining as if I was supposed to have known already...okay. I come here maybe ONCE a year because I don't enjoy talking to myself. That aside, using Venmo was a whole process that took too long. My drink was already done by the time I finished. If there's an issue with your card reader, probably explain to your customers? Maybe don't stare at them like they grew antlers? Some advice for treating your customers like human beings. On another note, my brother comes here often with friends (which I don't get). He said once they opened the door, saw which cashier was working, shut the door, and went to a different place to get drinks. How sad is that? You can do better as a whole.
