Wow wow wow! Happy I found Taylor Shellfish on my trip to Seattle. Had a party of six so upon arriving we had to wait for about 30 minutes. We were sat at the bar. The staff was super friendly. It was a great experience. The food was all amazing. I've never had fresh sea urchin or geoduck. I was very impressed on how delicious the urchin was. It tasted like butter, recommend trying. The geoduck clam was prepared really good as well. Texture was different but glad I tried it. You have to try the oysters. We went with the chef's choice which was a variety of oysters and oh my were they all amazing. The yellowtail collar was another of my favorite dishes. The sauce it was cooked and tossed in was so good. Fish n chips were also very tasty. Everything was delicious and again the staff was very helpful with the menu and recommendations. read more

We really wanted to get some seafood in Seattle and thought this place looked good; we went for happy hour mid week and it was pretty empty; it's a cool bar/restaurant spot with exposed brick and of course decked out in local photos and maritime stuff Service was great and we of course had to try all the things they had; oysters on half shell, smoked oyster dip, shooters, and more. It's always a good measure of the bartender on how good of a martini they make and theirs was perfect. Everything was amazing, fresh, well prepared and quick. I was a bit apprehensive of the smoked oyster dip because I don't usually like cooked oysters but it was really good. When in Seattle this is the place to be for fresh oyster. We got 1 each of the available oysters. Of the 6, Grand cru was the one I liked best. You can tell by texture and taste of each oyster difference. The chowder was delicious. I like more of the soupy like chowders. read more

Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar is a perfect spot for fresh and flavorful oysters . They have several locations around the city but we ended up at the Pioneer Square location. We had their Shucker's Dozen (a selection oysters) they have available. We also ordered the Clams and Mussel Steamers which will call for an order of their Macrina Baguette for dipping on that classic broth which really give more flavor to the shellfish. Even though this is an oyster bar, you would need to try their Ceasar Salad made with chopped romaine lettuce tossed with house Caesar dressing, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan and topped with parmesan reggiano and boquerones. I came to Seattle primarily to eat here. I recalled that Anthony Bourdain made this one of his stops. If it's good enough for Uncle Tony, it's more than good enough for me. It does not disappoint. Located in historic Pioneer Square neighbourhood, Taylor's serves up oysters, shellfish, and seafood, and is a worthwhile visit. Got the following: - Dozen oysters: $42. - Salish sampler: A Shucker's Dozen, Prawn Cocktail, Geoduck Sashimi, Smoked Mussels and 1/2 a Dungeness Crab with all the Accoutrements. $128. You could upgrade to a whole Dungeness Crab for a total of $160, but I felt that that was too expensive. Both rounds of oysters were delicious - I could have easily gone for a third round, even after the sampler plate but the kick-off was starting and definitely didnt' want to be late for that. The Dungeness crab was perfect the way it had been steamed - I made sure to get every little bit of crab meat! My partner's favourite was the Geoduck sashimi and for me it was a tie between the smoked mussels and the crab. Service was fine - given the busy-ness and the sheer volume of people at the bar (both inside and outside on the patio area), it wasn't super fast; our server did take some time to come by to take our orders after we were seated (about 8 minutes from what I timed), but once hte food was ready, it was promptly brought out. Ambiance was local but upscale bar, with patio seating out front, bar seating, high chair seating, and tables. There was a Seattle Sounders game that night, against LA Galaxy, so the bar was extremely full with supporters, and the street parking was a little hard to find. The Lumen stadium is right around the corner, so definitely recommend Taylor's as a great pre-game meet-up spot. Don't forget they do add on an 18% service fee - it's listed everywhere and our server made sure to tell us, but asking for tips on top of that is ridiculous. One star off because it is pricey, parking is difficult to find, and service (at the time I went), and the availability of adding tips on top of the service fee that's incorporated on. read more

Amazing bottle of cava that was just $30 -- they kept it super cold because we requested an ice bucket. Victor, who is part bartender part server in " actually, we're actually in a double oh my God words or are you kidding me that's thirty five. Oh Victor was the BEST "general garçon" outstanding and personable and very knowledgeable. Our exceptional server Dawn took time to understand what we were looking for. She was great. And camera shy. And remind her to time to come out and deliver a fish and chips. And here are concerns about the lack of dessert. Love that the Christmas decorations are up and this location has that great industrial vibe. Did I mention that service is outstanding? It really is. Served told me he assumed I didn't want any more food after I had my appetizers so basically didn't put in my crab roll. He also forgot my drink. On top of that, please be aware there is an 18 % service charge regardless of how bad your service is at the restaurant. Wish I had a better experience. You're in Seattle so you need to eat great seafood. We had a fantastic experience here and this is not a tourist hang. You've got to seek this one out and it's well worth the effort. There are no reservations, which is a drag, and they didn't seem all that familiar with the Yelp waitlist even though, by gosh, it's right on the website and I was signed up on it. But I digress. The oysters are terrific. Get the Shucker's Dozen for a sampling of six different types (you get two of each). It's pricey, though. The oyster dip, served with kettle chips, may just be the best oyster dip ever, as in, in the history of oyster dips. It's filled with big chunky oysters and it's delicious. The fish and chips is excellent. The French fries are clearly housemade and the fish and the batter were both delicious. The crab roll was more roll than crab and that's a real criticism. The roll was nice but I'm paying (a lot) for the crab. I would not get that dish again. It comes with those same excellent fries. The cocktails AND the mocktails are top notch. They also have an excellent wine list. We saw a few kids here. The place is absolutely NOT anti-kids but there isn't a lot on the menu which is kid-friendly other than the fish and chips. Other than the tanks, it's a casual restaurant that feels fairly upscale, especially when taking into account the affordability of the food. This time, I had first-timers with me. They tried the oysters and loved em, the geo duck was a hit, the clams we were delicious, and the bottle of rose was awesome.
