The service is always excellent, and while I do wish the menu was a little bigger, the options they have are always delicious. Although there are a few locations, this one is my favorite! It's right by the market, and there's this adorable plant store across the way that's perfect for a little browse after your meal. I love coming here for an in-between meal or a small bite - it's just the right spot when you're craving something fresh and satisfying. This was a wonderful experience. I ordered two different types of orders Virginicas and Fat Bastards - both were fresh and incredibly delicious. I ordered the Fish and Chips - made with rockfish - perfectly fried. The breading was light and the helping was more than I could finish. The service was fantastic. I came here in a party of 2 on a Saturday at 6:35 and got seated within 5 minutes without a reservation. They have QR codes to scan to access the menu. I ended up ordering a shucker's dozen, smoked oyster dip, and geoduck sashimi. The oyster dip came first and it tastes very good. There are a lot more chips than dip. This reminds me a lot of salmon dip, but it tastes like oyster. I like how the dip has some chunks in it. The geoduck and raw oysters came together. This is my first time trying geoduck so it was exciting. There are two different sections of geoduck given. It has a squiddy texture and a mild fishy taste. The right side is more buttery, almost like a mild uni. The oysters themselves were good too. It's nice that it came in 6 pairs especially for a party of 2 so there doesn't need to be an awkward split. I think that they were good and each had some subtle differences. It reminds me a lot of wine tasting because I feel like there is a lot more to appreciate that I do not notice. I haven't tried fresh oysters on the West Coast before, and I thought that Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar would be a great introduction to the fresh seafood that Seattle has to offer! We went on a Friday around 6:30pm and were seated relatively fast. The parking situation can be a bit tough as it is in the downtown area near the harbor - all completely streetside with occasional parking garage if you are looking to pay. We were lucky to find a spot just outside the restaurant. We were seated near the front of the restaurant, which was initially nice as we had a street view seat. But this wasn't ideal at all as the server basically thoughtful us as invisible and didn't really provide consistent service. We had to wave her down to place our order, check the status of our food, and pay our check. We definitely waited about 45 minutes just to receive our oysters - I just thought that it was a bit crazy that if your restaurant is known for fresh raw seafood that doesn't really require any cooking or prep, service should be faster than usual, right? Several tables of people that were seated after us in our vicinity that also ordered way after us got their huge trays of food before us. We had to wave down our server and was given a "no urgency" attitude after inquiring about food 30 minutes into the wait. This definitely left a bad taste in my mouth as it felt like we were being ignored in this restaurant. We got some items after the long wait, which I'll review down below: Geoduck Sashimi ($16): Recommended by our server, this dish was really indeed fresh. The geoduck itself has a pleasing slightly crunchy texture, and the fresh seafood flavor was enhanced by the lemon garnish. As other reviews have mentioned, the geoduck is sectioned off into the body and siphon sections (as seen in the lemon photo). If you are a big fan of geoduck, I would recommend. Don't let this plate fool you though, it is very tiny! The plate itself is about a teacup plate size, and this is pretty much a tiny sampler plate for $16! Shucker's Dozen ($42): As refreshing as each oyster was on this plate, I have to comment on the service - This plate of 12 oysters took 45 minutes just to get to our table. I thought that this was a crazy amount of time to wait for some seafood where all you have to do is clean it, open the oyster, and put on ice. Only after we inquired about the order to our server (which we had to wave down twice) that we finally got after waiting so long. Maybe it was a bad day, but I was very disappointed this is entree. I personally think that Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar should be more of a $$$ place rather than a $$ place as designated on Yelp. We pretty much got an amuse bouche for $70, which is a bit absurd in my book. The service was most definitely on the lower end in my book, as our server was not attentive at all and acted like we were 2nd priority to other customers in the restaurant. I know that most of the other reviewers praise this establishment, but I definitely would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking to try any seafood in Seattle, unless you know someone trustworthy that went earlier in the day raving about it. read more

We ordered two dozen oysters since it was happy hour thinking the oysters would be good, but the oysters were so big and chewy! They also didn't give us any sauce with the oysters. There was a long wait for a table but there's a cute little area with small shops where you can browse to kill time. The tables were clean but the seats were not. Had to ask them to wipe the seats down. The oysters are out in the open in tanks. Some employees were nice enough and stopped to talk to diners about the different types if they caught you looking into the tanks. The food came pretty quickly with semi friendly service. We had their Shucker's Dozen (a selection oysters) they have available. We also ordered the Clams and Mussel Steamers which will call for an order of their Macrina Baguette for dipping on that classic broth which really give more flavor to the shellfish. It was a great experience. The food was all amazing. I've never had fresh sea urchin or geoduck. I was very impressed on how delicious the urchin was. It tasted like butter, recommend trying. The geoduck clam was prepared really good as well. Texture was different but glad I tried it. You have to try the oysters. We went with the chef's choice which was a variety of oysters and oh my were they all amazing. The yellowtail collar was another of my favorite dishes. Located in historic Pioneer Square neighbourhood, Taylor's serves up oysters, shellfish, and seafood, and is a worthwhile visit. Got the following: - Dozen oysters: $42. - Salish sampler: A Shucker's Dozen, Prawn Cocktail, Geoduck Sashimi, Smoked Mussels and 1/2 a Dungeness Crab with all the Accoutrements. $128. You could upgrade to a whole Dungeness Crab for a total of $160, but I felt that that was too expensive. Both rounds of oysters were delicious - I could have easily gone for a third round, even after the sampler plate but the kick-off was starting and definitely didnt' want to be late for that. The Dungeness crab was perfect the way it had been steamed - I made sure to get every little bit of crab meat! My partner's favourite was the Geoduck sashimi and for me it was a tie between the smoked mussels and the crab. Service was fine - given the busy-ness and the sheer volume of people at the bar (both inside and outside on the patio area), it wasn't super fast; our server did take some time to come by to take our orders after we were seated (about 8 minutes from what I timed), but once hte food was ready, it was promptly brought out. Ambiance was local but upscale bar, with patio seating out front, bar seating, high chair seating, and tables. There was a Seattle Sounders game that night, against LA Galaxy, so the bar was extremely full with supporters, and the street parking was a little hard to find. The Lumen stadium is right around the corner, so definitely recommend Taylor's as a great pre-game meet-up spot. Don't forget they do add on an 18% service fee - it's listed everywhere and our server made sure to tell us, but asking for tips on top of that is ridiculous. One star off because it is pricey, parking is difficult to find, and service (at the time I went), and the availability of adding tips on top of the service fee that's incorporated on. read more
