I might be cursed because this is the second or third cocktail bar that has closed permanently after I've visited. Sad to see this place go, but I think its location was confusing to some and hidden. However, I found the area quite charming! The patio was blocked from the wind by the train tracks on the hill and large warehouse building. Hoping they continue to sell their liquors in stores, I've never had a bad drink with Tattersall in it, here or elsewhere! Securing a spot on Fridays and Saturdays can be challenging due to the venue's popularity, but the space is large, and they have an outdoor area. They have a calendar that shows what food truck will be parked outside each day. The drink menu is large and impressive, but isn't my favorite in the TCs. I tend to like more fruit forward and herbaceous cocktails, rather the spirit-forward, but they do change the menu to incorporate new drinks, so it's worth stopping by to see what is new. Going there with a group is always safe because people can usually find something they like. My favorite recently was the Pineapple Mule and my companion enjoyed the Boulevardier Miel. Very moody and aesthetic cocktail bar located in the Northeast. Service is good and staff is helpful. Drinks are reasonably priced and delicious. This visit I got the Honeycrisp which tasted just like fall. It was so good I wish I could make it last forever. I also got the bone crusher which was light and tropical. Both were priced at $12. Stopped back at Tattersall for a Thursday night happy hour! They didn't have any deals, but we loved the variety of the new drinks on the menu. I enjoyed the Palindrome - I was excited to see foamy drinks on the menu!! It was light and refreshing, and the aquavit was great! My friends also loved the espresso martinis just added to the menu as well! We also got the popcorn to snack on, and I was very surprised by how yummy it was! Just note that with the days getting shorter and with the location in a more industrial area, you shouldn't leave any valuables in your car. A friend had her car window smashed and items stolen while we had drinks here, so just use good judgement being in Minneapolis. read more

Food - this place is not about food. There is a truck outside if you want something to nibble on. The drinks are where it's at and service. I sat at the bar and the lovely bartender provided great tips. One hallmark of a good mixologist is that they can make you a drink if you tell them what flavors you like and the one at Tattersall nailed it. They have a few drinks on tap which are so good especially the one with gin and pine (?). Quite refreshing for a hot day! The ambiance is pleasant and warehouse like. They have a small store within the place where you can buy bottles that they produce. Been seeing Tattersall spirits around town and was happy to stumble upon the actual distillery while in the neighborhood. Tucked away in the back end of some warehouses, this happening spot has open air seating as well as a central bar to relax. All sorts of different cocktail options here, as well as some items on draft. Eventually settled on the "Midnight Manhattan" ($12) - a whisky based cocktail with vermouth and walnut bitters. Easy to go down and strong overall. Would have ordered more, but didn't want to spend too much after having a couple. Good place for some conversation and chill atmosphere. This is a very fun spot for a first date, meeting with friends and just want a cool spot to chill! I got one of their whisky creations and was not disappointed! It was full of flavor and delicious! The vibe is hipster, minimalist and welcome! I went on a Saturday and I would recommend making reservations, as this place gets very busy! Tucked away distillery with a lot to offer. The cocktails are delicious - the whiskey sour and gin gimlet were my favorites. There is an outdoor patio and a food truck which both really make this place feel complete. My one note is that we showed up on trivia night, no big deal but the microphone was booming and the volume was way up. Our fault for not knowing it was trivia night on Thursday, but the sounds system definitely had some distortion to it that made conversation more difficult. Downgrading my review to 3 stars. Tattersall is still a solid cocktail room destination, but their move to batch (pre-made) cocktails behind the bar is a disappointment. I also get the impression that COVID has limited innovation at the distillery itself. Like many distilleries these days Tattersall has gotten into producing whiskey, and this seems to have distracted them from their original focus on Italian-inspired spirits. (Tattersall's whiskey line, while acceptable, is nothing that special I'm afraid.) Overall the imagination in the cocktail menu is still there, but it's just not the same experience having these complex drinks poured directly from the bottle. And with a pivot towards following the pack with whiskey and away from what originally made them special, it's just not the same place anymore. I am encouraged by the development of a new destination distillery in River Falls, and I look forward to reviewing that location separately. read more

18th on Central is my drink of choice! Not just because that is where Tattersall is locayed but because it is just that good. I would also suggest Teatime, Negroni, and Mogito. I know most yelpers have commented on the desolate, random location Tattersall sits in, but its worth your while for sure. I have not had the opportunity as yet to enjoy it during the summer and check out their rotating food trucks but the mood was right on a fall night. The venue is truly unique and comfortable. The large chandelier is just beautiful and creates a lovely statement piece. I feel the venue is right for multiple occasions, a casual outing, date night, large group of friends or whatever else you have in mind. read more

Favorite cocktail stop. Cool bartenders, great tasting drinks. They are always busy and it is very hard to get a spot on Fridays and Saturdays. Drinks are great. There was a time me and my friends finished the entire menu. Nothing I hated, either love or like their drinks. Tea time used to be my absolute favorite, until they changed its color to weird pink recently and started tasting different. I hope they stop changing a good cocktail. Old fashioned is always good here. Too bad they don't have better food, they do have food truck outside, which helps. Never truly enjoyed any of the food truck they have in rotation. Better to have some food than no food though. Very glad they fixed their extremely bumpy road heading to the bar. I'd recommend Tattersall to everyone. read more

Ok, guys. This place is beautiful, impressively cool, and intimidating. Like, so intimidating that I don't really want to go back. It's pristine and hidden away in an alleyway. Not really somewhere to go casually, although if you met up with someone on a first date here it could be impressive. It's not somewhere I would go to relax. The bartenders (they probably use some cool word other than bartenders) really know what they're talking about and seemed sort of robotic. But robotically perfect... like, I knew I was getting an amazing cocktail from them. Also note that Tattersall does not have any food on the menu, but normally they have a food truck pulled up. This place is so cool. The actual distiller part of the complex sits behinds huge windows in the dining room/bar area. With some hanging plants and molded metal, there is a little steam punk vibe to the industrial bar area. I went for my birthday for pre-dinner cocktails with my parents. Every drink lists its ingredients, some of which seemed alchemical (smoke infusion). Watching the tattooed bartenders was a show in its own right. They were happy to discuss methods, flavors, and consult on what to order. Drinks ran between $8-10, which is surprisingly inexpensive for what you get. Between the 3 of us, we tried 6 different drinks. Each was different from the other, with textures (effervescent, syrupy, etc) flavors (savory, smoky, fruity, sour) scents, temperatures, and presentation. for my last drink, I gave the bartender carte blanche to create something based on our previous orders. He came through with an floral/herbal gin cocktail. Everything we ordered was delicious. A must-try. read more

As many have noted, it's a bit hard to find being it's not right on Central Ave. However, if you do a little research beforehand... you'll be able to locate it easily. That said, if you can't.... just know it's behind all the businesses on that block; so enter the parking lot, go down the alley and you'll find it. My friend I did the tour which was $15, came with 4 samples and a souvenir glass we got to keep. I can't recall the name of the gal that lead the tour, but she was really good (very welcoming, informative and receptive to questions). I want to say it lasted about 45mins and we learned about the company, the distilling process, their bottling process, saw the area the barrels are kept and more. It was worth it (check the site for tour days/times). After the tour we just hung out in the bar area which had a cool vibe, which was very crowded for a Saturday early afternoon, and so loud due to the music blasting. Anyway, our waiter & waitress were both attentive and pleasant. I'd definitely return, and recommend it as well as the drink 18th & Central, which was really tasty. It has a licorice flavor and Tattersall serves it the traditional way with a sugar cube. All the other drinks are good as well. Nothing bad to say. Great place to visit with friends or your date. Hard to find but when you do, whoa! Hidden behind some warehouses, Tatterstall is like a hidden gem in the world of distilleries here in the Twin Cities. If you are looking for a fun cocktail, you have to get out here and the food truck that I have seen there, well, food is always good with cocktails and reviews to come for those food trucks I was able to experience. Parking is pretty limited but it would be easy to Uber or Lyft it too and I would suggest that if you plan to have a few, these drinks are strong! Tatterstall makes all kinds of liquor to choose from. The first time I stuck to vodka and the 2nd visit I stuck with bourbon drinks. I've liked the drinks I've had each time. I like the old fashioned they have to offer, it's super strong and probably had one too many the last time I was there. There's patio seating, on a nice summer night, it is packed but if you are patient, a table will open up for you to snatch Indoors, they have an eclectic mix of furniture and spots to sit if you can find something. Again, busy each time I've been there so if you have a larger party, be prepared to arrive early or to be split up if you want to find a spot to sit. The selection is huge!! Pick your liquor first and then narrow down to what flavors and ingredients you like to pick out a drink you want. They have plenty of classics to choose from and some interesting concoctions that tempt you to try. My GPS had me all around this place and it took me asking a stranger how to find Tattersall. Upon driving down the dark alley, the only landmark I can provide you is the massive food truck out front. Lawd, if that truck moves who knows where this alley might take you. I was with a decent crowd so I was able to sample various drinks and cocktails but I must say my favorite is the Cranberry Old Fashion. My second favorite was the Bourbon Sour. Notice a trend? The overall ambiance of this place is very chill yet sophisticated. My type of spot. I swear if they served food inside Tattersall, I would be a regular. There is plenty of parking located alongside the alley. I plan to return in the daylight to tour the distillery. read more

What a gem! I will caution it was difficult to find at first... drive around to behind the building and there you will find the main entrance to the building. I am a huge fan of good mixed drinks and until I came here the only place I'd been to that made great drinks was in DC. But this place definitely rivals them. The bartenders know what they are doing, they are probably the few in the state where you can tell them what you want and they don't have to look it up online first. The best thing about this place is the menu, whoever created this menu knows alcohol profiles. The drinks are very creative and thoughtfully curated to enhance the flavor profiles you hope to expect. I would definitely recommend to all, you need to check this place out! My best friend and her husband took us to Tattersall on a recent trip to Minneapolis to visit them and their new son (the real reason for the trip). Tattersall's ambience is great - large warehouse feel with dark tones and leather seating to make it feel upscale but still casual. The selection is VAST - the menu is arranged first by some of their crowd favorites, and then later by the type of liquor you would prefer. Each of us ordered two drinks - and everyone was really pleased with what they had. Our service was relaxed but timely and the comfortable couches and chairs made it tempting to stay even longer (but with how stiff the drinks are, that would've been inadvisable...). The liquor base was clearly well made and made me wish I could take a bottle home with us, but alas, only having carry-on bags prevented us from doing so. We'll definitely seek this out on our next trip to the Twin Cities. read more

I am so excited for the distillery game to pop off here in the TC, and I think Tattersall has done a good job of setting the bar. After 3 visits here, I've been impressed overall but am especially hopeful for what the future holds once they work out the kinks. I have been making an effort to try as many cocktails as possible, at the risk of going outside of my comfort zone. Full disclosure: my ideal cocktail has some bubbles and a healthy dose of citrus. That being said, there are some great and some not-so-great cocktails that I have sampled at Tattersall. So far, the "On Tap" options have been my favorite-- though sometimes they are a little too sweet. These cocktails are batched so you cannot ask for substitutions. This week I tried their Mule Variation and LOVED IT (mmm pineapple shrub) whereas a few weeks earlier I found it a little sweet. The opposite happened with the Bootleg-- that was my favorite at my first visit but tonight it was too sweet. Their G&T is a crowd pleaser. Again, I love the on tap cocktails because almost all of them incorporate citrus and soda water! I think that their most impressive liquor is the aquavit-- it has a great, refreshing flavor. The Psycle cocktail is disappointing in that it is not spicy enough (great flavors otherwise-- but if I order something with jalapeno I expect to feel some heat), and the celery shrub cocktail was a little weird (I think lime would be a big help here). If you're just going to try one thing though, make it the aquavit as I think it is their best effort. I tried the whiskeys for the first time tonight and though I can't speak to other reviewers foul-tasting experience, I agree that it is their weakest liquor. But you can't knock them for wanting to try something that really belongs in a barrel for a couple years. Service has been good but sometimes spotty. One server told me that they share everything-- so they don't have hang-ups about you closing out your tab before their shift ends. However, I didn't see that camaraderie tonight when our server was facing 3 big new tables, so we ended up waiting about 15 minutes just to get waters/place our orders. One big item in their favor-- tonight their food truck bailed, so they went out and bought a bunch of food to bring out to patrons for free so we didn't get too hungry. Kudos to you, Tattersall-- I love free shit. I will definitely keep coming back and am excited to keep trying their new boozes (i am particularly intrigued by the sour cherry liqueur from my whiskey cocktail tonight). However, there are a couple things that I would recommend that would take this to 5-star status: -include the serving style in the menu, whether it's a picture of the type of cocktail or a simple description (e.g "served up", "on the rocks in a highball," etc) because that is make-or-break for me -turn down the music! I get that this place is trendy, but I want to be able to talk to my friends -fill in the potholes... the road from Central Ave is atrocious Overall, keep up the good work Tattersall and I will see you again soon! TL;DR: get the aquavit and prioritize the "on tap" cocktails. Hold off on the whiskey unless the pairings really speak to you. Plenty of cocktails across multiple alcohol profiles. I also liked that they showed the "sweetness" of every drink, as well as the kind of cup it comes in.
