I came here craving soup after being sick and ordered the pork soon tofu, while my wife ordered the bulgogi. The meat in both dishes was noticeably tough and difficult to chew compared to other Korean tofu restaurants we've visited. Because I wasn't feeling well, I couldn't fully taste the food, but my wife and daughter both immediately noticed that the bulgogi tasted sour. When we brought it to the staff's attention, they kindly offered to replace the meat, so we requested teriyaki chicken instead. Unfortunately, another serving of bulgogi was brought out instead. By that point, my wife and daughter had already finished eating and gone to the car, so I simply asked for it to be boxed up. After getting home, we decided to throw it away because we didn't feel comfortable taking a chance on meat that tasted off. The side dishes also didn't seem fresh, which matched what I had seen mentioned in other reviews. While I can't say for certain what caused the sour taste, it left us without confidence in the meal. Another thing worth mentioning is that there was no air conditioning on a very hot summer day, which made it uncomfortable to enjoy a steaming bowl of soup. Also, the dishes were served on hot plates, but nothing arrived sizzling or boiling the way you would normally expect at a Korean tofu restaurant. I genuinely want local family-owned restaurants to succeed, which is why writing this review isn't easy. Every restaurant can have an off day, and hopefully that's what happened here. Unfortunately, this visit didn't meet our expectations, and based on our experience, I'd encourage others to use their own judgment when deciding to dine here.

It works great for dine in or takeout. It is a bit pricey at around $15 to $20 an item, but the portions are huge. Two orders of rice, one orange chicken, and one broccoli beef easily fed about five of us. High quality, feels like a luxury meal, and definitely fills everyone up. Quick and easy pick up and kind servers. Luxurious feel once you walk in, waiting lobby is a bit crowded and not luxury feeling.

If you have children, BEWARE!!! especially depending on which waiter you get…read more Our experience was ruined by one particular waiter who seemed completely fixated on our children. He repeatedly told us to keep our kids quiet, including times when they weren't even being loud or disruptive. It became incredibly uncomfortable and honestly ridiculous. What made it even stranger was that the other staff members seemed just as confused as we were about why he kept behaving this way. So I want to be clear: this review is mainly about our experience with this particular waiter, because the rest of the staff did not seem to have an issue with us or our children. Then another couple walked in with a child who was completely quiet, and this SAME waiter still felt the need to say something to them about their child. That confirmed for us that the problem wasn't our kids being disruptive, he clearly had some kind of issue with children being in the restaurant at all. I'm not sure if he thinks he's working at some exclusive adults-only restaurant in Beverly Hills, but families shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable simply for bringing their children out to eat. If children are allowed in the restaurant, they should be treated like welcome guests, not like an inconvenience. It's unfortunate because one employee's attitude can completely ruin an otherwise good dining experience. Management seriously needs to address this because no family should spend their money somewhere only to be treated this way.

Nice service and decent meat for the price!…read more The menu is straightforward with the basic meat options. Although the choices are very limited, they offer the typical meat options that people would normally get at other locations. The menu states that there's a limit on the marinated short ribs, but the worker said that we could get as much as we wanted. The ventilation could definitely be better, but it didn't bother us that much. Our favorite part was that they provided FREE ice cream at the end of our meal which was a pleasant surprise. * Beef Brisket: 9/10 - cooks the fastest and pairs nicely with the brisket sauce * Bulgogi Beef: 9/10 - nicely marinated and tender * Beef Short Ribs: 9/10 - the best choice, but we were curious as to why it didn't come with the bones * Ice Cream: 10/10 - perfect dessert after such a very meal The place is a good size and can fit a large number of booths and grills. We came when they first opened so the workers were quite attentive, but it might be different during hectic dinner times. They're located in a small lot with the gas station and other shops so parking might be tough. Considering this is one of the few KBBQ places in the area, we were happy with our experience and would definitely consider coming back!

I got the curry and Pad See Ew at Level 4 spice and it was delicious! The Pad See Ew portion was huge and the Green Curry had a lot of fresh veggies and my choice of meat (chicken). The Mango Sticky Rice was delicious; however, considering the total meal cost was around $60 (with tip), I wish the portion was bigger. The Thai Tea was the highlight of my order, it tasted freshly brewed with strong tea flavor and not too sweet, a nice contrast to some places that use the Thai Tea powder. In my opinion, the meal price was a bit steep for the portion sizing, but the quality is high, and I will definitely be treating myself again here again!

Our server was fantastic--super friendly, attentive, and checked on us throughout the meal. We were very grateful for her. For our second visit, we ordered many of the same dishes but decided to try the salt and pepper fish instead of the rock cod. It was moist, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Another great choice! The service on our second visit was a bit slower, but it seemed to be a much busier day. We had to ask for our rice, and we never received a water refill. Thankfully, my husband wasn't drinking much of his water, so I was able to finish his. Even with those minor service issues, the food was excellent and more than enough reason for us to return. I'm confident it was simply an unusually busy day. Overall, great food, generous portions, and a restaurant we'll definitely be back to visit again.

My daughter asked for another cherry and she brought a whole bowl. I took off a star for two reasons: 1) the women's restroom was very messy and dirty (clogged toilet, paper towels and toilet paper everywhere). When you go to the restroom right before dinner and this is what you see, it is very unappetizing. 2) our chef was very boring and did the bare minimum, even after I requested a chef who is extra good with kids when I made my reservation. I grew up going to the Shogun in Pasadena, and those chefs knew how to put on a show. The remodel really elevated the ambiance. The wallpaper is beautiful. The food was delicious, no complaints there.

He did a lot of magic tricks and I think he expected tips because I saw his tips jar with money in it. However no one tipped because most were teens which was a good thing since they forced an 18% tip into the final price anyway without asking. I had a problem with the garlic butter and the jokes about it which was said to be the secret ingredient. As you can see in the pictures it was huge like a cake,! Not healthy at all since it was used for the rice, vegetables, lobster, noodles, chicken, and salmon. (More garlic butter than oil) This was definitely not Japanese style-or Korean style for that matter. When you got Gen restaurant and cook for yourself, you're not throwing garlic butter on everything. It's a good party time if you have the money for it and not annoyed about all the garlic butter being used in every dish.
