The sides were definitely the highlight of the meal, both were cooked really well and full of flavor. The ramen was enjoyable though it did not completely blow me away. But honestly for that price it is really hard to find anything to complain about. All in all a great little lunch spot with good food, fair prices and a welcoming atmosphere. My nutritionist told me yesterday need to significantly increase my protein intake to help reduce muscle loss related to my autoimmune thyroid condition. KBBQ seemed like the perfect choice; lots of protein without a lot of unnecessary junk. On my way home, I stopped at two other KBBQ restaurants. Apparently, I was unaware of the unspoken rule that some places don't serve parties of one on weekends. One restaurant even had me wait 25 minutes before telling me they wouldn't seat a solo diner during the weekend. Unfortunately, my husband is currently deployed, so being a party of one isn't exactly a choice for me right now! Normally, dining alone doesn't bother me at all, but today it got to me. I was exhausted and simply wanted a comforting meal. Being turned away after waiting 25 minutes just because I by myself was the last thing I needed. When I called this restaurant, the owner or manager immediately answered and was incredibly friendly. He explained that they offer entrée and plate options for guests who aren't doing the all-you-can-eat menu. I honestly don't understand why more restaurants don't offer this. I know the food industry is competitive and businesses have to make money, but having options for solo diners makes such a difference. When I arrived, I received wonderful service right away, and there was no wait, but they were full. The owner or manager recognized me as the person who had called earlier and went out of his way to make me feel welcome since we found out we're from the same area. He even added a little surprise to my order simply out of kindness. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and attentive. In an area with no shortage of restaurants, I want to give this place the credit it deserves, not only for the excellent food, but for the heart behind the business. Today, I'm especially grateful for the kindness and generosity shown to me.
