The decoration is fine, the place kept pretty clean, not much more to say about it. The service is also really good, the staff working was very polite and friendly, and it turns out the owner must've been in the shop because she delivered our food and asked us if we've ever eaten this food before and offered to help. We ordered the fried chicken with pork gravy over rice, the beef noodle soup, and the lemon tea. To be honest, the beef noodle soup is not my favorite. Although the meat looks like it was freshly cut, I found it to be quite tough. I also was not really a fan of the bra, but I know the broth is also up to personal taste. For myself personally, I think the one at Dah Bao is better, and I've had much better in the Bay Area and outside of the bay. That being said, we both really enjoyed the chicken and rice. It was such a nostalgic taste, and we felt like the serving size was great. The chicken itself was really crunchy, so I imagine their other fried chicken and popcorn chicken options are also delicious. The tea was also very refreshing and helped to wash the food down. We plan to come back and try more of their braised meat and rice dishes, despite being a little disappointed by the beef noodle soup.

I've also tried their Sweet and Sour Chicken, General Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Fish with Black Bean Sauce, Pork and Green Beans, BBQ Pork and Snow Peas, Broccoli Beef, Combination Pan Fried Noodles, Salt and Pepper Fish, Salt and Pepper Pork, Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun, and even some of their dim sum items like egg tarts. It doesn't look like a lot of food because it comes out in plastic containers, but we were pretty satisfied by the amount of food that we got. The star of the show were definitely the pan fried buns. If you've never had bingsoo/bingsu before, it's a Korean milk-based shaved ice dessert. MandRo offers fruit bingsoo flavors, such as strawberry and mango, as well as non-fruit options, including chocolate, injeolmi, and matcha. If you're not feeling bingsoo, they also have different drinks on the menu you can order. While they don't have as large of a bingsoo selection as some other places I've been to, I've enjoyed all of their flavors I've tried so far. My favorite is the strawberry bingsoo, since the fruit pieces are fresh and pair well with the snow. They offer two bingsoo sizes (regular and large), and the regular is great for sharing between two to three people. You place your order on a kiosk near the counter, and the workers will let you know when it's ready. There is plenty of seating inside as well. I wish there was a larger portion of the condensed milk to pour on top of the plain ice when you run out of mangos. The proportions mango to shaved ice was pretty spot on, though you could always use another layer or two of mangos. I just can't get enough mangos. Price- This was pretty pricy and I would say it's a special occasion type of place. In addition i Size- The regular was the perfect size to share with a friend. For two of us the large would have been too much. Restrooms- They have one unisex bathroom in back. Thankfully you don't need a code to go in. It was clean and well supplied. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.
