I'd been craving a solid seafood boil--especially crab legs--for over a month. My husband, who's not a fan, finally got tired of hearing the same answer every time he asked what I wanted to eat. So off we went to Tasty Crab House. We were seated immediately, which was a great start. They serve Pepsi products, beer, and wine--no cocktails or hard liquor, so just a heads-up if that's your thing. The place has a casual seaside harbor vibe, with wood plank walls covered in sharpie graffiti. Nothing's off-limits; guests are encouraged to leave their mark. Our server, Kristy, was fantastic--patient, friendly, and really knowledgeable. She walked us through the menu and made sure all of our modifications (no corn or potatoes) were taken care of without any issue. I went with two snow crab clusters and half a pound of shrimp, tossed in a mix of all their house flavors. My husband chose the lobster tail and shrimp in butter garlic sauce. We both got a side of coleslaw. Our food came out fast--maybe in under ten minutes--and it was exactly what I was hoping for. Everything was cooked just right. The crab legs cracked open easily, the shrimp were tender, and the sauce? A buttery, garlicky Cajun dream--I could've honestly sipped it. This place definitely satisfied the craving, and I'll be back the next time it hits. Honestly, I might not even wait for my husband to tag along next time.

Great experience! The interior had an interesting theme that matched well with the seafood.

Seafood is always of the finest quality, our server she was the nicest person I've ever encountered so friendly so attentive and very eager to be sure my party of 5 was satisfied. The atmosphere is laid back but don't mistake laid back to effortless, far from it. You won't be disappointed run don't walk and enjoy this establishment.

Food Super delicious and rich seafood. I highly reccomend the combo dishes as you get so much food in the order. 3 seafoods, an egg, 2 potatos, and a corn (depending on which combo you get). You also get to choose what sauce you want and spice level. We chose combo #3 with a lobster tail, sausage, and shrimp (has shell on). Highly reccomend the oyster basket mainly because the meat was so silky. I usually get bad experiences with oysters since they are usually not fresh and stinky. However, here... amazing!! The dessert was ok, we ordered a tuxedo bombe, and the peanut butter explosion. The tuxedo bombe was light and airy and chocolate flavored. Though the peabut butter explosion was really rich, and a bit too sweet for us. But never be afraid to try a new food! You're provided with a bib, gloves, a wet wipe, and a big bucket for your shell waste. Service Great service, waitress was very attentive. They also speak Chinese there! :) Very friendly staff and even explained the menu to us first-timers. One of our desserts was on the house due to the fact that it was in celebration of my bday. They out a big sparkler on the dessert and played music, haha Atmosphere A very funny environment. Led lights in the lobby and even in the bathroom. There was graffiti everywhere, which I found amusing. It's a casual place to celebrate an occasion or just have a full stomach and your soul fufilled!

I've been dying to try a seafood boil and I'm not sure what's taken me so long. I had this place bookmarked for quite a while and decided, the day had come. We placed a takeout order and were quoted 20 mins but it took much longer than that. I got there 30 mins later and still had to wait 10 mins or so. There are lots of options. You can order fried baskets and traditional boils with quite a few options for sides. There are combos or you can piece together a meal. We ordered a shrimp basket with fries, which was way more filling than expected. The shrimp were huge. The hush puppies were also really good and crunchy. I also ordered 1/2 pound of shrimp in a Cajun sauce and 1/2 pound of crawfish. I absolutely loved that Cajun sauce. I picked medium heat but could have kicked it up a notch. It was sooo tasty. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and would get a pound of those next time. The crawfish was okay. It was my first time trying crawfish and it wasn't bad but wasn't my favorite. I love how you can customize the sauce your boil comes in and the contents of the boil. The corn was super delicious because it soaked up all the Cajun sauce. You can make it however you'd like. It was a fun experience and I was a mess after eating. This was very tasty.

Food was eeh! Not much flavor and too salty. Was expensive too and even not fresh. This was almost $90 with tip. (Cajun fries not pictured). If I have another choice wouldn't go here but was craving seafoods that time.

This place is great, as long as you don't mind getting a little messy! Customers are given bibs and gloves so you can go all in on your food. I got the baby clams and crab legs. The picture doesn't do the meal justice. It was delicious with the garlic butter sauce. The other photo is shrimp and crab legs with the Cajun seasoning. Cajun fries were also delicious, perfect ratio of crunchy outside and soft in the middle. Will definitely be back. This time I will ask for an extra pair of gloves!

Food 3.5 Ambiance 0 Management 0 Cleanliness 0 Waiter server and buzzer all in one for tbe entire restaurant was mad friendly but super unprofessional in speech and manner He had zero suggestions. He only forgot one side item so no biggie Price 3.5 how do you charge 3.00 for a boiled egg to a 46.00 dish? The restaurant serves on paper plates wtf with plastic forks Drinks served in to go cups You order the steamed crab boils and your bag goes on a paper plate that's super cheap ownership when the average plate is 36.00 Restaurant is completely covered in magic marker wall to wall floor to ceiling including the Pirate at the entrance, and the decorations inside. Bathrooms obviously have no one checking them at all It's not worth a return trip at all.

    My sons 1st birthday celebration
    William G.

This place has been on my radar since I've been home for the holidays. Today was the perfect opportunity to celebrate my sons birthday while having an outing with the fam. I remember this place was a buffet spot that I grilled out in many of times back in the day. Now it's a seafood spot, Nice! So I've been out in Pensacola for the past two years where seafood is fresh, cheap and abundant. I was very happy to see the menu had all of the things I would normally get if I were back in Pensacola. I decided to go with a 1/2 lb of crawfish, king crab and head on shrimp. I recently learned how to properly eat crawfish from a New Orleans native and what I learned is that the juice from the head is the best part (no weirdness). When my bag of seafood came out I went right for the crawfish, popped the head off and sucked it for juice.... nothing came out, bone dry. Very disappointed with that but the tails were tasty. Next I moved on the the king crab. A little disappointed that it was only one leg. It had a lot of meat but one Leg for $17, come on! Lastly was the shrimp. The shrimps was good, as well as the bag sauce and sides (potatoes and egg). For $35 plus I found myself eating my father in-laws and wife's fried shrimp when I was done which was really good. Have I been a bit spoiled because of where I currently live, YES! could there have been more for the buck, YES! Do they need to figure out how to get some boil juice I'm the heads of the crawfish, YES! If this place was in Pensacola it would be my last time. Because it's here and not many places like it, and I love seafood, I do see myself returning. Great customer service! Modestly recommended.

    combo boil #4
    Darren G.

The place I have to say bit interesting considering all writing people did all over the place, makes it definitely feel loved by customers and I wondered if would feel the same afterwards, the server I had was very nice and polite, but honestly it felt little too forced and def needed a tone down. I placed my order pretty quickly since the prices did make opt for a combo rather than a Crete my own seafood, which is fine. I do agree with other comments on here the cheap paper plates and to go cups was bit weird, I mean are they trying to save on a dishwasher machine or person, ha-ha. anyhow, I got my order really quickly, was bit shocked since I thought it would be longer. First, I tried the Cajun shrimp fried rice, one could use more shrimp, two overkilled it on the salt and well it far from any semblance of fried rice. Now the seafood boils itself was amazing, red potatoes were fork tender and coated in the sauce, corn was fresh and always bathing in the sauce, shrimp was bit overcooked but still good, mussels cooked just right and plenty of it, now the crab, which was easily the best part was perfect, a whole half crab and plenty of meat to dig out after cracking it open. I keep the sauce from the bag to give the rice favor and the shrimp chips, well some of them tasted bit stale and some still had a nice crunch. like the bag of seafood boil, this place is a mixed bag for me, pun intended.

More recently, a coworker of mine mentioned she had dined here. Hubs and I had just finished with a gender reveal party in Stony Point and decided to come here then afterwards head up home. Ship L. has a warm, woodsy charm with dark woods, a large bar area to the right as you enter. This place has a spacious dining area on the left with an old-school energy that feels just right for a long-standing rest'nt like this one. Service was great from everyone: friendly, attentive and welcoming all around. That said, awesome service and history can only carry a restaurant but so far. We were told their long-standing chef of 30+ yrs either resigned(?) or didn't want to work here(?) and based on what my coworker told me- that she noticed a difference in the cooking not too long ago when she came here. Sadly, it shows. Our escargots were extremely salty. My husband's pork chop was salty. His vegetables also salty. At that point, I held out hope that my Chilean sea bass might at least redeem the evening. No such luck. Salty again. Even the mushroom risotto- which actually had delicious flavor, was overpowered by too much salt. By then, after one appetizer and two entrées all salty, we figured dessert would at least save the night. Nope. I ordered profiteroles with chocolate gelato instead of vanilla and was truly looking forward to them. Except, the profiteroles were rock hard. The chocolate drizzle tasted like Hershey's syrup, making the dessert taste cheap for a restaurant of this type. My husband, who always goes for sorbet, ordered the mango flavor- but to me it tasted like an unripe mango blended with sugar just to make it palatable.. If you're from the Caribbean or know a true mango taste, you know exactly what I mean. And don't even get me started on the cocktails- they tasted more like juice than actual drinks. At the end of the night, we realized we weren't imagining things. A $245 dinner with weak cocktails, overly salty food and disappointing desserts was no balance for a restaurant with such a long-standing history. For that reason... we out.

We like to travel and like to eat out trying new things. Frustrating that a lot of restaurants in the area serve basic pub food (which is fine, but it gets boring after a while to point of tedium). We ate at Rossi's Deli (awesome) and Crew yesterday. After meeting her friends at P&G's in New Paltz (where else for a bunch of college friends to hang out) , I was really looking forward to non-pub food. We found Farmers and Chefs. A local restaurant with a twist which is what I look for. And they grow and feature mushrooms which is probably one of my favorite ingredients. It was a pleasant atmosphere, spaced out tables, comfortable , light background music . All very pleasant. Our server Cami could not have been nicer or more helpful. She fully understood the menu, was helpful in ordering a half salad for my wife. Service was efficient without being hurried. My Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc wine was superb and worth every bit of the 16 bucks a glass. Generally I noticed the wine list had a small but quality wine by the glass list. They have an extensive list of local brews which I did not try. So far all well deserving of the five stars. So how is the food? We started with Northern Belle Oysters from the Canadian Atlantic. I believe these are actually native to the northwest North American waters but the Atlantic versions had the solid meaty texture of pacific oysters and a hint of the brininess of Atlantic oysters. An interesting and successful melding of the types. The mignonette sauce was a little sweet which actually worked with these oysters when used sparingly. I liked them . They had a special salad tonight of heirloom tomatoes, cucumber , goat cheese, olives in a clean vinaigrette. It was flavorful and the goat cheese was excellent. She had the app Gambas Al Ajillo as her entree (small eater) . Nicley cooked and the shrimp had a strong forward shrimp flavor (cooked with the shells on then shelled post cook? which is how I like to do them). I like my shrimp to taste like shrimp which is so difficult to find these days. The dish might have been lacking a bit in the garlic department but otherwise very good. The accompanying slices of their bread to sop up the garlic/oil/butter sauce was excellent. I debated at some length on my entree. The 50/cut beef and mushroom bolognese looked tempting . A special of squid ink pasta with shrimp, octopus and clams sounded really good as well. But if they grow mushrooms and make goat cheese and pasta let us get right to the point. Mushroom Ravioli with a mushroom, butter, lemon and thyme sauce and balsamic drizzle and more goat cheese. OMG. This was great , really awesome. The pasta was cooked perfectly and both the mushroom filling and the sauces were on their own great. Together thought it was well orchestrated flavor explosion. So glad we found this place.

We visited on the Friday before V-day, the house was packed around 18:30. The wait was 45 mins which wasn't too bad for a Friday night. We decided to wait in the lobby after trying to find a cozy waiting spot near the bar and missing. My wife attempted to order me a mocktail, but of course the bar was crazy busy. When the bartender finally acknowledged her, the mocktail requests obviously threw the bartender for a loop because I ended up with watered down ginger beer and a sprig of mint. My advice for anyone looking for a virgin drink at this bar would be to order a club soda with lime and call it a night. We were seated at the 45 min mark, and were escorted to the packed bar, where they have some exterior tables for diners. My seat was in the middle of the couch split, which I found mighty uncomfortable so we opted to request a seat in the main dining room, which the staff happily obliged. With dinner we ordered hot tea and were given lukewarm water and a choice of Stash teas. Our beverage experience here was very disappointing. The calamari arrived and may have been the only highlight, although we didn't find it to have that fresh calamari texture. My wife ordered a ravioli with mushroom, and felt the pasta and veggies were just swimming in butter. I ordered my steak medium and it was okay, but the juices from the greens made the croquettes soggy, and unenjoyable. The server did his best, and all the staff here are so kind. Coulda been an off night but I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. The Mocktail Madam.

When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.
