This is the second Creole restaurant I visit in NY, and the flavors of the food are undeniable. There's something about Creole food that makes you feel at home. It's packed with seasonings and very dense. It's food you can take home with you to enjoy it more. I really loved the gumbo, the hush puppies, and the shrimp etoufee.

Can't believe I hadn't dined here since 2015! Always been a fan of creole food and this spot is great for a late night hangout. The shareable dishes are great and the number one on my list is the fried pickles. You also need to try the mac and cheese!

I came pre Covid and had such a wonderful time I wanted to return ; food was different and fun. Tonight was lackluster it was quick to get seated slow to even get a drink the place wasn't packed yes there were some tables but it wasn't crazy. The staff wasn't rude and nice enough so I left a star on for that . The pull boys were good; oysters seamed fresh the crawfish had to be frozen and broth was lacking in flavor; the coleslaw needed mayo and more condiments. Parking is on street metered until 9 . Bathrooms are downstairs over all just an ok time we need a bit more to keep patronizing .

It's been a while since I've been to the Bayou and I must say it was quite lovely to pop in there this afternoon for an early dinner as you can see we were quite hungry and we ordered quite a bit and we took home quite a bit as well- however everything was delicious. Service was terrific - the food was delicious and made to order- the drinks were good, my friend loved the gator which is the reason why we went to the restaurant. I recommend you go visit them - the ambience is low key pop in on the weekends they have live music.

I had frogs legs that would have made Doc Hopper proud. I also had the catfish, which was excellent - blackened, spicy, and a generous helping of two fillets. I tasted the Buffalo cauliflower and it was really good, and I'm a wing guy. It is not a substitute for wings, so don't expect that. It's just a good app. The chicken fajitas had a Cajun bite and the chicken was cut into small morsels. The collard greens, beans, cole slaw, and sweet potato chips all were great. Dip the chips in the catfish sauce. It's really good. Service was excellent. We will definitely go back.

I placed an order for delivery. I was feeling for some gumbo and this place seemed to have a lot of good reviews. I had gumbo for the first time last year somewhere in Miami and it was amazing so I was craving It hard. I was a very disappointed. It was like soupy shredded meat and that's it. I taste lil tiny chunks of sausage but that's it. I didn't like that. For some reason I get the feeling that it's canned soup or something, I don't know it's something about it's taste. It just wasn't authentic gumbo ya know. I also ordered Cajun popcorn shrimp and they were not crunchy AT ALL (extremely soggy actually) nor were they Cajun or even seasoned at all. I'll give them another try in the future but I'm in no rush to do so Update: I posted that review last night after eating. Maybe an hour after, my stomach just felt messed up (and please forgive me because this is a bit of TMI) but I had explosive diarrhea ALL night. I literally was getting up every hour to go to the bathroom and I was able to finally get sleep at 3 am. So yeah. Won't be returning to give them another try. Being up till 3 in the morning shitting my brains out just isn't fun lol. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day butttt. Yeah. I guess try them at your own risk.

Do you have any affiliation with The Bayou in Bellmore NY?

    No we don't.

Are they accepting live vocalists now to come in and sing on certain nights? Who can I inquire about this? Thank you Caroline

They also said it closes around 2am. Both were lies. So you could only Imagine how furious when I got there an hour later and found out that there in fact was a cover charge. I pulled out my phone and showed them that I just called them and spoke to someone who said otherwise. This goonish enforcer instead repeated they are charging me $10. I said whatever, I'm already there and I gave them a $20 bill! Their brilliant accounting staff gave me back a $5 bill. I said I just gave them a $20 and then they said it was a $15 cover and refused to give me the extra 5 back. I WAS LIED TO ABOUT THE COVER TWICE!! It changes by the second. And it's not about the cost because that's a fair price in NY at that hour, but it's the principle. I was basically lied to and stolen from. That's a horrible way to do business. I'm not going back with my friends in the future. And this just to make the night a little worse, we got a bottle but didn't get a seat. I don't care about that part as much. It was just the extra insult to injury. Again...trash.

Right near the tracks and parking lot, they play good beats (think classic R&B and 80s alt jazz), got live shows, a food truck outside, and regular bartender Joe is on point with his drinks. If you're looking for a different kind of dive, check out Bassline for happy hour - it won't disappoint.

Let me be clear, the main redeeming aspect of this place is the talent on stage. The musicians were exceptional and deserved far better than the environment surrounding them. I ordered a scotch neat, something I'm very familiar with, and immediately knew something was off. When I politely flagged down a waiter, he responded with visible annoyance, as if I was inconveniencing him by being a paying customer. I explained the issue and simply asked if it could be checked or replaced. Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.
