I had the chicken curry with rice and mixed veggies. The woman working was warm and welcoming! She offered me a bit of Mac and cheese to try. I'm gluten free so she gave me some of the cabbage. Everything was very good! The chicken was moist and delicious, but a little cold. It still tasted good! There is a wide selection of American and Jamaican beverages. There wasn't much seating inside, but there were 2 tables with 2 chairs each and a counter with a few stools. It is more of a takeout place but my friend and I were very comfortable sitting in there eating for a couple of hours catching up! The woman working thanked us for coming in. My daughter and I love Jamaican food thanks to my best friend Winston! She happened to find Mandee's which was in walking distance from where we were staying. They have amble parking and the place is more of a take out place than a sitting and dinning place. We ordered four beef patties but were told there was only one which was ok because we just wanted to try it. Unfortunately she never put the beef patty in our take out bag! We ordered jerk chicken with peas and rice and Mac n cheese, curry goat with peas n rice potato salad and a brown stew chicken with beans and rice and sweet plantains. Their rice and peas (red Beans) has a little coconut and spice flavor that makes you want more! The goat was well seasoned, moist and falling off the bones. The jerk chicken was spicy but amazing flavor deep into the bone. My favorite was the potato salad. Their salad had just the right amount of egg, Mayo and it was slightly spicy; I loved it!!!! The plantains weren't too sweet, though I do like them a bit sweeter but they were still good. The staff seemed quiet but quick to pack food. The interior was colorful and well decorated for a small Jamaican takeout restaurant. I hope to be in the area in the spring and hope to try their beef Pattie's then. I saw this place on Yelp and had to try it. I went to the store and saw it was a really small mom-and-pop type of place. The kind of place I love to try. I went inside and the mom and pops (people running the place) looked at me like - "What is this guy doing here?" I wasn't sure they were even open, so I asked. A young lady - maybe the daughter, got up and told me that they were open. Although not super friendly with a few questions and prodding she ended up being very helpful and suggested the jerk chicken. There were a couple of moments in this encounter where I seriously thought about just leaving and going somewhere else. Instead, I decided to go with the jerk chicken with white rice, a side of plantains, and cabbage. I wanted to try a couple of things but it would have been way too much food. Their combo plate was $30 but included 3 different types of meat, rice and sides. Way too much. I got back to the hotel and opened my food. I wasn't expecting it to be all that good, but....it was delicious and I ate it all. The cabbage was crispy and delicious, the rice was fresh and covered with the jerk juice from the chicken. The plantain was soft, sweet, and delicious. The chicken was really good, not at all spicy, I was hoping for a bit of spice, but still really good. I wish I was staying here another day so I could come back and try something else. I was impressed and ultimately glad I didn't run out of there. read more

I have eaten at this restaurant several times. Lets start with the service: The first time I entered the restaurant. The young lady was in the office on her phone. The older lady called her to serve me. She came outside the office, still on her phone. I was the only patron in the restaurant. I waited 5 minutes before being served. The young lady (Mandee) didn't even wash her hands before serving me. I have stopped by several times since and it seems like hand washing is not something they practice. Stopped by today with my coworker and the lady serving was eating her meal at the counter. Did not take the time to wash her hands before serving. I keep going back because a girl be hungry and it's the only Jamaican restaurant in Dutchess County where the food isn't too bad. read more

The food here is fantastic. Shellz is probably up there wit the nicest people I've ever talked to. I highly recommend this place. One time I came here for Father's Day with my dad and bro and we sat and ate and chopped it up. If you know what chopped it up means then you know. Mandee's kitchen has been our go to spot for at least a year. The food is always so fresh and tasty. I normally Door Dash it because of my busy lifestyle, and it's always so hot as if I were sitting down and eating it there. Though, I have been there, and their atmosphere is very warm with a Caribbean vibe that makes it so inviting and the AROMA that fills the restaurant is amazing. Authentic born and raised jamaican here. Terrible representation of our food! 3day old patty all dried up. Expensive garbage food that i had to throw out.
